A New Beginning

The world around us had settled. The chaos, the danger, and the uncertainty that had followed me for so long had finally begun to fade. It was strange, in a way—after everything we'd been through, here we were, standing side by side, as though this was the only place we were ever meant to be. The streets outside were quiet, but the room felt alive, buzzing with an energy I couldn't quite describe. Maybe it was just the fact that I could finally breathe.

I glanced over at Kacchan, who was staring out the window, his jaw set in that way it always did when he was deep in thought. His hair was still a little messy from the fight, but it suited him. Somehow, through everything, he still looked... perfect.

Me: So... what happens now?

The question had been sitting on the tip of my tongue for days, maybe even weeks. After all the revelations, after discovering that Kacchan had known who I was all along, and after confessing that I'd been the thief, it felt like we were standing at a crossroads. I wasn't sure which path we were going to take, but I knew I didn't want to take it alone.

Kacchan turned toward me, his red eyes softer than usual. He didn't look angry, for once. Instead, he just looked... determined. Like he'd already made up his mind about something.

Kacchan: What happens now is this...

Before I could react, Kacchan reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. My heart stopped, and I felt my mouth go dry as he stepped closer to me, holding it out in front of him. There was no mistaking what it was.

Me: K-Kacchan, what—?

He didn't say anything at first. He just opened the box, revealing a sleek, silver ring inside. It wasn't flashy, but it was perfect—simple, elegant, and exactly what I never expected.

Kacchan: Shut up, nerd.

There was no bite in his words, just a soft grumble as he took my hand, pulling me toward him. He slipped the ring onto my finger with ease, his movements careful and precise.

Kacchan: I've been holding onto this for a while.

Me: You have...?

Kacchan: Yeah. I was waiting for the right time. And I figured after you almost got your dumbass killed, I'd stop waiting.

He huffed, eyes meeting mine.

Kacchan: I know you've been through hell. I know everything's still messed up, but... His voice softened. I don't care about that. You and me—we're doing this together. Always have, always will.

My heart raced as his words sank in. This was happening—really happening. Kacchan was serious. I glanced down at the ring, feeling the cool metal against my skin. It fit perfectly. How long had he been planning this? And why did the thought of it make my chest feel so light?

Me: Kacchan...

I couldn't find the words. There was too much emotion swirling inside me, too much to say. But all I managed was a choked whisper.

Me: I don't deserve this.

Kacchan frowned, his grip on my hand tightening.

Kacchan: Don't start with that crap. You deserve everything, Deku. You deserve more than you think.

He tugged me closer, his breath warm against my skin.

Kacchan: And I'm gonna make sure you get it.

The air between us shifted. Suddenly, it felt thick with something unspoken, a tension that had been building for far too long. Before I could say anything else, Kacchan closed the distance between us, his lips crashing into mine with a kind of passion that took my breath away.

The kiss was fierce—just like him. It was desperate and tender all at once, like he was pouring every unsaid word, every buried feeling, into that one moment. His hands slid up to my neck, pulling me even closer, and I could feel the heat radiating from his body.

I kissed him back, my arms wrapping around him instinctively. It wasn't soft, and it wasn't gentle—it was raw, intense, and full of everything we hadn't been able to say out loud. My heart pounded in my chest as I melted into him, every fiber of my being telling me that this—this—was where I was supposed to be.

When we finally pulled apart, both of us were breathing heavily, but neither of us let go. Kacchan rested his forehead against mine, his eyes half-lidded as he smirked at me.

Kacchan: About damn time.

I laughed, the sound shaky but real. It felt so good to laugh, to feel this weight lifting off my shoulders. I wasn't sure when it had started—this pull between us—but now that I was here, standing with him, it felt like it had always been there.

Me: Does this mean we're...

Kacchan: We're what?

Me: You know... together.

He grinned, his hand slipping down to my waist, holding me firmly against him.

Kacchan: Damn right we are. And it's not just that, Deku.

I raised an eyebrow, confusion flickering across my face.

Kacchan: I'm gonna marry you one day, you know that?

My heart skipped a beat. His words hit me like a freight train, and I felt my knees go weak. Marriage? Kacchan wanted to marry me? I blinked, trying to process what he was saying.

Me: Y-you're serious?

Kacchan: Of course I'm serious, idiot.

He pulled back slightly, his expression softening.

Kacchan:I've been serious about you since the beginning. I don't care what happens next—I'm gonna make sure you're stuck with me. Forever.

I stared at him, my chest tight with emotion. For the first time in a long time, I felt... safe. Not just physically, but emotionally. Kacchan had always been there, always had my back, even when I didn't remember him. And now, after everything, we were finally together.

Me: I think...

My voice wavered, but I smiled through it.

Me: I'd like that.

His grin widened, and before I could say anything else, he kissed me again—this time slower, softer, but just as intense. It felt like a promise, a vow that no matter what happened, we'd face it together.

As we stood there, wrapped up in each other, I couldn't help but feel hopeful. The future wasn't certain, and we still had a lot to figure out, but I knew one thing for sure.

We were in this together.

And that was enough.

The ring sparkled on my finger as I glanced down at it again, my heart swelling with warmth. I knew things wouldn't be easy moving forward—there would still be battles to fight, dangers to face—but I wasn't afraid anymore.

Kacchan was by my side.

And, one day, we'd be standing together at the altar, ready to face the world as more than just partners in crime.

As husbands.

That thought alone made everything worth it.
