STEVE'S POV

I was looking through Tony's files to find a way into S.H.I.E.L.D and see him and maybe free him in the future. Of course I asked for Bruce's help to access the computer and everything.

It hurt to look at those, to see his brain all over those things and not have him. I was doing my research till I found a folder with my name on it. At first I thought it was about the super soldier serum, but it was not.

My heart almost fell out of my chest. He had written a lot of drafts with ideas on how to propose to me. When I saw the dates on them, my chest hurt.

He was planning for almost the same time as I was, but he never got to do it. There was a file also named "Ring project" , but it was encrypted, I wonder why.

I started reading some of the drafts, but I couldn't read a lot, cause I was feeling a knot on my throat and my stomach was aching.

I closed all of them, cause it was too much for me. I kept looking for my way into S.H.I.E.L.D's base and I was closer than I ever was.

STEPHEN'S POV

I was in my routine visit to Tony. I locked the metal door so I could talk to him like I did every day.

I don't know if it makes sense or even if he's listening, but it comforts me.

"Hey, Tony, it's Stephen again, Steve came here and also the other day I talked to him, we're not giving up on you and we all miss you. Little Tony is strong, like you, and Pepper is an amazing mother, Rhodes is an amazing father too, but he's still figuring everything out, they talk about you a lot to little Tony."

I took a moment to process everything and look at him.

"Steve really loves you, he's miserable, so please be fine when we bring you back, we all can't be without you, Peter really misses you too and all of the team, it's really falling apart without your leadership and Steve has no condition to lead his own life so..."

I heard sounds coming from outside.

"I'm sorry, I need to go"

STEVE'S POV

Now I was already walking through the halls, quietly, I got to the room he was and grabbed the fake identification Tony had to open the door and then everything went dark.

3rd Person POV

Steve woke up dizzy, when he regained conscious the first thing that popped on his mind was Tony and how he almost killed him.

Steve was feeling disgusted of his body, even though he knew it wasn't him, that he was being controlled, it was his body, his face, his hands doing the opposite to what he promised Tony, to protect him.

"What happened? Why am I tied up?" - Steve asked confused when he realized he was tied up to a bed in a room.

He saw Natasha and Bucky.

"Honey, calm down. We had to put you down for some time cause you were out of yourself " - Natasha said coming closer to the bed.

"What are you talking about?" - Steve was even more confused now.

"We never saw you like that, you broke into S.H.I.E.L.D and was going to remove Tony from the chamber, put his life in danger and when they came to remove you, you took down four guards at once and started breaking things" - Bucky said and it all came back to Steve's mind.

"Oh my God, is Tony ok?" - it was all he could think about.

"He is, actually we think they are making progress on his situation" - Natasha answered and saw Steve's whole body relax a little.

"Wait, how long was I out?" - Steve realized it couldn't be just a day.

"So, we took you down and then brought you back the same day, but you tried to kill yourself and then we had to put you down again and tie you up for 2 weeks, you're having a hard time remembering cause this drug has some light amnesia side effects, but you'll remember soon." - Bucky said and Steve looked at him perplexed.

"2 weeks? You allowed that? Actually, like that I can't hurt Tony anymore, you should have let me end myself" - Steve's eyes looked faded and lifeless.

"Steve, it wasn't you and also we already have leads of who might be involved in this" - Natasha whispered the last part looking at the door, cause it was information they were all getting illegally.

"Really? Who? How did you find out?" - Steve almost ripped the leather straps.

"Honey, we need to be sure you'll not hurt yourself" - Natasha talked again.

"I promise I'll not hurt myself, but I can't promise no one will get hurt. I want to know, every name you have"

Suddenly Steve's eyes regained life.

He could not protect him like he promised,but he would avenge him till he made the last man suffer.

STEPHEN'S POV

While S.H.I.E.L.D's agents were concerned with Steve's return it gave me some time alone with Tony. Since the beginning I was working on something to preserve his memory at all cost.

I was risking everything for him and so were the others, Natasha, Bucky, Bruce, Thor and Clint. They were all risking their lives betraying S.H.I.E.L.D to help Tony, but Steve couldn't know everything we were doing cause his anxiety and lack of self control would probably ruin the whole thing.

We just decided to keep Pepper and the younger ones out of this, specially Peter.

I got into the room and closed the metal door locking with sorcery so they wouldn't be able to unlock.

I got access to the wires connected to his brain. I couldn't take long because it could cause harm to his recovery.

I connected to the wires the computer and started sort of uploading some memories, most of them from footage from cameras in his house, office and even the place he was found, it was difficult to crack into Tony's computer, but everyone helped a little.

The purpose was not to put the files in his head, but it was like a stimulation so his brain would recognize and preserve them and all of the other memories.

His cognitive area was preserved, part of a genius brain that is untouched. I was just concerned on how he was going to be, psychologically after all the trauma and damage to his mind and mostly to his body.

A beep started and I turned around to see what it was, it was one of the machines connected to his body , his pulse was really fast, I looked at him and I couldn't believe, he wasn't awake, but his body moved, it trembled and he raised his head up.

When I looked to the computer I understood. It was the parts now that we're only related to him and Steve. It was amazing the reaction it caused and now we can say that there's life in him and we're closer of bringing him back.
