Steve was there for a long time and no one showed up.

Can't believe I fell for that, it must have been a joker or something, trying to make fun of me or one of the guys' pranks.

He was ready to leave when he received a new message.

Go say goodbye to your lover before it's too late

Horror filled Steve's body and he ran out to help Tony.

On the way he called Potts and asked her to meet him in Stark's mansion and asked Natasha to call everybody especially Banner.

He needed every help he could get.

When he got there all avengers, not all, just the vanguard (Natasha, Banner, Thor and Clint) were already there, Pepper showed Banner an old reactor and was helping him reactivate.

Steve stormed in pushing everyone who was in the way and Natasha too, that was holding Tony's hand on the couch he was laid.

Steve got down on his knees and started crying, holding Tony's hand.

Everyone was scared, terrified of losing Tony, but also surprised to see Steve crying like that.

Tony was barely breathing, struggling a lot to stay awake, his skin was really pale.

Steve touched the hole on his chest.

"I'm sorry I left you, I wanted to protect you. I'm really sorry."

Steve was bursting into tears, he didn't care that everyone was looking at him.

Tony pressed his hand a little and looked at Steve.

He was suffering, and it was killing Steve.

Tony blacked out and Steve lost control, scaring everyone.

"WHY IS  IT NOT READY YET. WILL YOU ALL LET HIM DIE ?"

Steve was strong, luckily if he lost all control, Thor was there to hold him back.

"Steve, you need to calm down, they are doing their best, we can't piss off Banner, don't forget, please calm down, we'll save him." - Natasha put his hands on Steve's shoulders.

"I think I got it " - Banner and Potts walked into the room.

"Steve, you need to let them take over now" - Natasha said.

Steve looked at Tony once more, and kissed his forehead, passing his fingers through his hair.

Steve backed away and let Banner and Potts do the work.

"Are you sure, will it work?" - Clint asked from the other side of the room.

"I hope so, it's dangerous,  he could die, I won't lie to you, but it's our only shot." - Banner said, he was scared too.

Steve finally lost all control and was going towards Banner, when Thor held him down.

"Steve, stop!" - Thor said putting Steve on his knees

All of them walked to stay by Steve's side, while he was still on his knees crying in despair.

Thor got scared with all the strength that came from Steve, it was really difficult to stop him.

"Take him out of here, it's better" - Natasha said and Thor along with Clint grabbed Steve against his will to another room.

When Steve gave up fighting against him, Thor let go of him.

"We are all worried, Steve, but he'll be fine" - Clint said.

"I can't loose him" -  Steve said still crying.

They didn't understand what was this sudden change of behavior of Steve about Tony, but they helped Steve all they could.

After a long time, Natasha walked into the room.

"They finished, but he's not awake yet" - She said and hugged Steve, she knew he needed support right now. - "He'll be fine, honey" she whispered in Steve's ears.

He was shaking.

Banner walked into the room too, with Potts.

Steve looked at them waiting for good news.

"He's not awake yet but he's breathing and he's stable" - Pepper said crying too. " We need to let him rest so, let's wait a few..." 

She couldn't finish the phrase cause Steve ran to the room Tony was.

Everyone followed him.

Steve fell down on his knees again beside Tony.

"We gotta take him to his bedroom and put him on a saline solution with a medication to bring him to 100%"- Banner said.

"He has proper bedroom with medical equipments" - Pepper said.

Before anyone could say anything else  Steve grabbed Tony on his arms.

"Show me where it is" - he said.

He put Tony in bed and Pepper installed the medication with saline.

"I think we'll all stay here and wait him to get better so, Clint and I are going to buy food for everyone, we'll be right back." - Thor said.

"I'll come with you, I need to get some air" - Banner said.

"Do you want to come, Steve? We leave the girls with him" - Clint asked.

"No, thanks, I need to stay with him"

"Ok, man, just don't blame yourself"- Banner said.

They didn't know why Steve wanted to stay, they knew something was strange between the two of them, but would never considere the possibility of them being together.

Just Natasha and Pepper stayed in the room with Steve.

"We'll leave you alone with him, honey, we'll be right here in the living room if you need us." - Nath said and left with Pepper.

They were the only ones who knew.

STEVE'S POV ON

It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and I have been through a lot of things.

Watching him like this was too painful, and I wish it was me in his place.

Put my head on my hands and hoped that he would get better.

He was so fragile like this. What if he doesn't wake up? What will I do?

I lost so many people all my life, but I'm not ready to loose Tony.

STEVE'S POV OFF

Steve leaned and kissed Tony's cheek, he couldn't kiss where he really wanted cause he was wearing an oxygen mask.

"Come back to me, please, come back to me"

Steve said and closed his eyes.

After an hour the boys came back with food, but Steve refused to eat, he stayed there by the side of the bed waiting for him to wake up

"Steve, we're all staying here for the night, go take a shower, eat something, please. Someone else will stay with him. I'm begging you, you look awful, and that's a sentence I never thought I would say to you." - Natasha asked.

All of them were worried about Steve.

He agreed and left the room to take a shower and eat. 

When he got out of the shower, he heard his friends talking really loud. He put his blue with white and red stripes sweatpants that the guys brought to him and ran down the stairs to see what was going on.

He walked into the room and they were around Tony's bed.

"WHAT HAPPENED?" -  he screamed desperately.

"Take it easy, cap, you're going to have a heart attack" 

Steve froze, it was his voice. His Tony.

He took everyone out of the way and looked at Tony. He started crying in relief.

"Oh my God, Tony, you'll dehydrate Steve."

They smiled at each other for a long moment.

"It's better if we let you rest, Tony" - Banner said and everyone agreed.

They left the room but Tony called Steve.

"Not you, cap"

"Thank God, I'm glad to have you back, you scared me" - Steve said Smiling, but keeping it casual, he didn't know if he could make a move after the way they left everything.

"I came back to you, I'm here" 

Steve smiled even more.

"I just have a doubt" - tony said.

"yeah" - Steve answered.

"Do I have to ask everytime I want to kiss you?"

Steve laughed and kissed him deeply, like he could disappear anytime.
