𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞. better than revenge

"Ooh.. waffles?" Maze asked, as she sunk into a chair, across from Molly. "Do you do this for all of your clients?"

"You're not just my client, Maze. You're like a daughter to me." Molly smiled, sipping blood from her reusable coffee cup.

Maze loved Molly, like she was her second mother.

Molly Hale had a beautiful story... she was a lonely vampire who rescued and adopted two werewolf cubs, who were spelled to stay in their wolf forms.

She took Jade and Jesse in as her own and saved them, even though they could do the one thing that could end her life.

"Are you sure you don't want to see Emma, since we are close?" Molly asked, but Maze shook her head. "I'm more comfortable talking to you." She decided.

Molly smiled, before she nodded. "Well, this will be absolutely confidential. Alaric, Jade and Jesse will have no idea about what goes on during our sessions." She said, as the blonde nodded, "Thank you."

"Why don't you start by telling me about residing back in the dormitories again, how do you feel about that?" Molly asked, looking at the Saltzman intently.

"I'm happy to be out of the cellars, that is for sure." Maze began. "It's been nice to spend more time with Ari and Jade." She added, as she thought about the werewolf and the witch.

"Sharing a dorm with Hope is a little weird.." Mazikeen admitted, as Molly had a look of surprise. "And why might that be?" She asked, softly. "Well.. Hope and I were best friends when we were kids... but we drifted apart a lot."

Molly nodded, "Is there anything else you would like to say?" She asked, as Maze thought about her few days she had spend residing in the school again. Bianca had played a few pranks on her, and at first they were harmless but then they became pretty brutal.

The Saltzman then remembered that her retaliating to Bianca's rude behaviour is what caused her to be sent to reside in the transitional cellars, so she decided not to talk about it.

"No.. not really."

Suddenly, a piece of paper appeared out of thin air. Molly and Maze jumped in surprise, before the Hale woman took hold of it, and read it.

"It's from your Dad. I think it's a punishment for something..." Molly trailed off, before she faced Maze. "Why is he punishing you?" She asked, unsure.

Maze knew exactly why she was being punished, but she didn't want others to know. "I have no idea." She lied, as Molly shrugged it off.

"We'll finish this session later today, okay?" Molly asked, as Mazikeen nodded. "Yeah.. yeah that sounds good, thanks Mol."

Maze, Hope, Lizzie and Josie followed Alaric through the library, as all the girls but Josie were visibly annoyed.

"This makes no sense, Dad. Why are we being punished?" Lizzie asked in annoyance. Alaric gave Lizzie an exasperated look as though he thought the answer was obvious. "Because you started a brawl at a charity football game that risked exposing what we really do here!"

"Well, you weren't mad last night." Lizzie stated. Alaric turned to Lizzie, "I was mad last night! My undying love for my daughters just happened to trump my rage." He admitted as he walked down the steps to one of the study tables and set the books down before turning to face his daughters and student. "I volunteered everyone in the game, so stop complaining. You're lucky that it's just community service and not actual jail time."

"Can I at least offer a rebuttal in my defense, if it pleases the court?" Lizzie asked as Alaric rolled his eyes and gestured toward her to go ahead and defend herself. "First of all, I was provoked— my response was totally proportional considering the levels of abuse that I was forced to endure." She said as Hope couldn't help but chuckle, which only proved to make Lizzie more upset.

"And secondly... If anyone should take the blame, it's Josie." Lizzie added, as Josie gave Lizzie a betrayed and offended look. "What?!" Lizzie, seeing how much this hurt Josie, immediately starts to backpedal, "I'm sorry. I totally cracked during cross, but if you had just let Kaleb catch the ball—" Josie scoffed incredulously, cutting Lizzie off. "Yeah okay..."

"You'd still be in trouble--" Alaric declared. Hope, amused by the scene unfolding in front of her, interjected before he can continue, "But nice job throwing your sister under the bus!" Josie replied, "Thank you, Hope."

"Speaking of, the bus leaves in ten minutes, and I expect all four of you on it, working together today, harmoniously and without drama. End of debate." Alaric said as Maze rolled her eyes, before she left the library.

Now in Mystic Falls, the students gather around Dorian, who was to be supervising their community service. "All right, listen up! It's a beautiful day. You got options— litter, weeds, graffiti! Your choice." He said, holding a tool to pick up litter in offering towards Kaleb, who looked at it and Dorian as though he's crazy, though he does take it to get Dorian off his back.

Kaleb waited until Dorian walked away before he joined the others. "It's bad enough we get punished while the humans get a pass, but there ain't no way in hell I'm picking up their garbage." He said holding the tool out to Maze, who immediately shook her head and laughed, amused that Kaleb would even offer it to her. "Uh, I don't do trash." She said.

Kaleb then turned to Jade, who stood beside Maze. "No thank you." She laughed, as Kaleb rolled his eyes, that this was hard to palm off.

"I love trash ...As of this moment.." Hope declared before taking the tool and used it as an excuse to get away from them. Hope turned and walked away, but not before Lizzie could make a snarky comment. "Perf. It suits you."

Lizzie turned to face Josie, who was unimpressed by her attitude, and Maze. "Looks like we're scrubbing paint today." Lizzie said as Josie frowned. "Dad told us to work together, okay? Harmoniously." She reminded her. "Yeah, and he also said without drama, and I am feeling a rage attack coming on, so I will be remaining drama-free over by that wall of graffiti. Are you coming or not? " Lizzie asked. Josie narrowed her eyes and responded in a sarcastic tone of voice. "I don't know, Lizzie-- is there another bus you want to throw me under?"

Maze tried to bite back an amused smile at her sisters drama, which didn't go unnoticed by Lizzie. Josie walked away from Lizzie toward Hope, making it clear she intended to work with her instead.

Lizzie, offended by Josie's choice, made it known to all in their presence that she's hurt by it. "Fine, Daddy's girls." She groaned before looking around at the rest of the students. "Anyone else?" She asked, before her eyes landed on Mazikeen.

"I might um... do some weeding, actually." Maze decided, not really wanting to be involved with whatever drama her sisters had going. Lizzie frowned, before Maze walked away, followed by Jade and Ari.

Maze, Jade and Ari found themselves pulling weeds out of a garden. Maze and Ari wore gloves, as they used a tool to pick the weeds out of the ground, but Jade used her hands, not seeming bothered.

Maze eyed the Hale, as Jade laughed. "What?" She asked. "Nothing... you're just... weird." She commented, which caused Ari to laugh.

Jade shrugged, "I was stuck as a werewolf until I was nine years old. I don't care about a little dirt or prickles." She stated.

Maze looked around for a moment, before she reached out and placed her hand on Ari's shoulder. "Maze?" Ari asked, confusedly before she realised the Saltzman was siphoning from her.

The blonde looked around, making sure that nobody was looking before she said with a grin on her lips, "Incendia."

All of the weeds suddenly were set ablaze. "What the fuck." Jade blurted, as Ari let out a squeak as the duo jolted back in shock.

The weeds burnt until they were nothing, and Mazikeen gave her friends a proud smile. "Just... why?" Jade asked. "Well, now we don't have to pick weeds out of the garden, we can just sit and talk." She said, seeming excited.

Ari sat down, and crossed her legs before she faced Maze. "Well... what is it like sharing a dorm with Hope?" She asked, seeming interested as Hope was pretty closed off to everyone else.

Jade and Maze then sat cross legged like Ari, as they all faced eachother. "It's nice. A little weird but... anything is better than being in that cellar." She huffed. "What you guys did to my side of the dorm.. was really sweet." She suddenly said, as the werewolf and witch smiled in response.

"Have you had any issues being back in the school?" Jade asked, remembering very well how Bianca and Penelope would torment her. Maze shrugged, "Bianca is annoying me.. but what is new." She huffed.

Jade and Ari both frowned. "What is she doing?" Ari asked, defensively. "Just.. typical Bianca things... pranks that seem to be pretty harmless to her.." She trailed off, before remembering when Bianca had set an illusion spell, causing Mazikeen to trip and sprain her wrist.

Of course, Maze siphoned magic from the wall of the school and managed to heal her wrist using her dark magic, though more than anything she wanted to use her dark magic on Bianca freaking Harris.

"I can think of a perfect way to get revenge." Jade suggested, with a smirk. "Ooh, how so?" Ari asked, looking to the werewolf. Ari was the sweetest person you could meet, but she didn't mind some revenge on her best friend's bully.

"I am intrigued." Maze decided, looking to Jade with a devious grin, but before Jade could tell the pair her idea, a squeal was heard, as well as some chuckles.

The trio looked up, their jaws dropping when they saw that Connor had thrown a milkshake at Lizzie.

"Oh!" Connor could be heard gasping fakely, "That's my bad. My bad." The group soon moved along and Lizzie stormed away, fighting tears back.

Maze frowned, before she placed her hands on Jade's knee, siphoning magic before she glared at Connor viciously.

Jade and Ari watched as Mazikeen's eyes darkened over, before she casted a spell.

Connor came to a halt, as he suddenly began to choke. Trying to cough, the boy violently flailed around, trying to catch his breath again.

"Maze!" Ari spoke up, before Jade reached forward and shook the witch, causing her to break out of her trance.

Connor stopped choking suddenly, and loudly inhaled and exhaled as he walked away.

Maze looked to Jade and Ari, who looked slightly concerned for their best friend. "What?" The Saltzman asked. "He deserved it."
