𝐬𝐢𝐱. the statue that came to life
With Josie's magical twin pain, she realised that something was wrong with Lizzie. Something Maze never understood was why she had never felt this pain herself... though she was a bit grateful.
Needing to go back to the school, Jade and Ari distracted Dorian, giving Hope, Maze and Josie a chance to flee and head back to the school.
Currently, they has split up and were searching for Alaric or Lizzie.
Maze was confused to why the school was so quiet, she had never seen it like this before.
The blonde walked down a hallway, before she heard, "All right. Well, I guess we better find it before it makes the evening news."
Maze turned a corner, finding Alaric and Hope. "Dad, hey." Maze blurted, as Alaric seemed surprised that his daughter had also come back to the school.
"Hey.. seems I'm a bit late to the party." The siphon witch shrugged, joining them. "Now I understand how the containment spell was taken down." Alaric said, before Maze shook her head. "That wasn't me."
Alaric had a confused look.
"It was me." Josie said, as she approached the trio.
Alaric looked at the brunette before she added, "And I have questions."

Alaric, Josie, Maze and Hope walked down the main hallway in search of the gargoyle, after Alaric had explained the situation to them.
Maze crossed her arms, "The one day I'm not at the school, a statue came to life... so unfair." She huffed, as Josie rolled her eyes at her sister's dramatics.
Josie held the axe she took from Alaric earlier, as Alaric had since found his own weapon, which he had clutched in his right hand.
The loud stomping noise started to pick up behind Maze, who immediately sensed the creature. As she faced it, the gargoyle growled at her and spread its wings. "Hi there, seen a moving statue?" The siphoner asked sarcastically, as it just growled at her again.
Josie, Hope and Alaric turn around a moment later upon hearing the grinding stone sound it made whenever it moved.
The gargoyle leapt into the air and used its wings to glide over the staircase and down on the floor directly facing them, passing Maze and Hope. The pair were barely able to dodge the gargoyle when it attempted to stab them with the mysterious knife but Hope fell flat on her back on the floor in the process.
"Hope." Maze blurted, quickly rushing over to the tribrid to offer her a hand. Hope took it and scrambled to get back onto her feet. "Thanks."
The gargoyle prepared to attempt to stab the girls a second time, causing Alaric to rush forward toward the creature. Horrified, Josie cried out to stop her dad from putting himself in danger. "No, Dad!"
Alaric shoved himself between the gargoyle and the girls, gasping as the creature attempted to stab him in the heart with the mysterious knife. "No!" Alaric called out, as the gargoyle, stopped itself when it was just inches away from stabbing the knife into Alaric's chest.
Alaric let out a relieved sigh, and the gargoyle looked confused as its red eyes widened in surprise. The two stare at each other for a long moment as the gargoyle processed this situation, only to be interrupted by Josie, who appeared behind the gargoyle and swung her axe at it, breaking off a large piece of its left wing.
The gargoyle turned to face Josie, raising the knife in preparation to stab her, only for Alaric to hack at its wings with his own axe, mimicking what Josie had just done before him. This broke off another piece of its wing, but just as it is about to lunge toward the three Saltzmans, Hope spread her arms and started to cast a spell.
"Fluctus impulsa!"
The knife flew out of the gargoyle's hand and landed near the staircase, which Maze raced after before handing it back to her dad.
Hope, realised she couldn't do this alone, and held out her hands for Maze and Josie to take. "Maze, Josie, help me!"
"How?"
"Just repeat after me."
Maze raced to Hope's left, before she took the tribrid's hand. Hope gave Maze a small smile, as Josie took her right hand, interrupting the moment. Their linked hands all glowed red as the witches siphoned from Hope.
"Fluctus impulsa. Fluctus impulsa. Fluctus impulsa."
The spell seemed to momentarily immobilize the gargoyle, who spreads its own arms and stares at the ceiling. When the creature manages to break free just enough to take a single step toward them, the girls focus their energy even more into the spell.
"Fluctus impulsa. Fluctus impulsa. Fluctus impulsa!"
Suddenly, the gargoyle exploded into a shower of small broken pieces of stone, which were now littering the floor, tables, and chairs in the room. Maze looked impressed, Hope looked relieved, Alaric looked shocked, and Josie was still clearly furious at her father for his earlier actions.
Maze exhaled deeply and looked over at Hope and Josie with pride. "Nice teamwork!" She said, walking back over to the pair. Hope flashed her a smile again, though Josie still seemed angry.
Josie ignored her sister and glanced at her father. "How could you jump in front of them like that? You could have died, Dad!" She growled. Alaric's expression soften ein an attempt to reassure his daughter about his plan. "Honey, I knew it wouldn't kill me because my research said so—"
Before Alaric can elaborate further, Josie stormed away with tears in her eyes. Alaric sighed and looked over at Maze and Hope who, for once, has nothing to say.

Alaric looked down at the students in the crowd, catching Maze's eyes, as she sat next to Jade and Ari. The blonde gave her father a smile, before he spoke into the microphone "If you'd asked me a week ago, I would have told you there's a difference between myth and fact. I would have told you that supernaturals were limited to the species under this roof. I would have said that folklore and fairy tales were just stories. But I can no longer say that any of that is true... 'Cause just a few days ago, we were confronted by the existence of a dragon." With that being said, students all began to murmur quietly amongst themselves.
"And then, today, our campus was terrorized by a gargoyle come to life. Some of us were forced to fight. We won... This time. They were drawn here by a knife that went missing earlier this week. And, for whatever reason, these creatures consider us to be the enemy. In their minds, we're the villains because we won't give them what they want. We don't even know why they want it. But we're gonna find out." He continued.
"I can't say for sure what their true intentions are. I can't say there won't be more attacks. That's why I'm telling you this— to warn you. To ask you to look out for each other. To do what's best for one another. Because we're more than just a school. We're a family. And we will stand together. We will fight together. And we will win or lose this battle together, no matter what comes next."

Once the assembly was over, Maze found herself walking towards her sister's dorm to check on Lizzie, when she bumped into Jade.
"Hey! Maze!." Jade said, giving the Saltzman a smile. "Jade, hey." Mazikeen smiled, looking to the Hale girl. "I may have gotten revenge... for you... on Bianca." Jade insisted, as Maze raised an eyebrow.
"What... did you do?" Maze asked, as she couldn't help but to laugh. Jade placed her hand on Maze's shoulder, as she gave her a mischievous grin.
"You will find out tomorrow. Actually, I'm sure everybody will." The werewolf said, as Maze's lips twitched up into an amused smirk. "Okay." She replied before the pair giggle.
"Goodnight Maze." Jade hummed, before she walked around the blonde, to go back to her own dorm. Maze couldn't help but to smile, "Goodnight Jade."
