Chapter 53: Good Morning

A bright light suddenly woke me from my slumber. I peeled my eyes open to find Izzy opening our bedroom's curtains, letting in the morning sunlight.

"What are you doing?" I hissed, feeling like a vampire.

"Waking you up! Good morning, my beautiful wife." Izzy grinned as he jumped onto the bed, making my head absolutely ache.

"Stop! Fuck, my head!" I groaned.

"Oh, I think you definitely had more to drink than you remember."

"Why do you say that?"

"Well for starters, we were about to do the deed last night and you fell asleep on me... and started snoring like an old man. Plus you don't get a hangover from just being a "little bit tipsy"."

I groaned and threw a pillow over my face. I really thought I hadn't had that much to drink the night before, but my head was telling me something different. I did vaguely remember having a few shots with Deb at the bar at some point...

"So, we're technically not really married yet?" I mumbled.

Izzy gasped dramatically.

"I hope you're not planning to do a runner on me! This was your plan all along wasn't it! Why don't you love me?"

Izzy could barely suppress his laughter.

"Shut up, you're being too loud for my brain."

"Oh, I think we need to do something about this. Why don't you... sit up really quickly?"

Izzy yanked me upright, and due to the bright light burning into my skull, my foggy brain and general discomfort; the whole room felt like it was starting to spin.

"I'm gonna spew." I coughed out as I ran as fast as I could to the bathroom.

I could hear Izzy chuckling as I ran. Little poo head. After a good time having my head shoved in the toilet bowl, my symptoms seemed to lessen a tad. Still felt like shit though. I felt guilty that I had let myself get so drunk in front of Izzy, it was our wedding night and I should have given him a night full of consummating sex because he deserved it. I flushed the toilet, sat down on the floor, and rested my back on the cool tiled wall. Izzy eventually came in and looked at me with a half sarcastic, half sympathetic way.

"Feeling any better yet?"

I just glared at him and he chuckled some more.

"Aw come here, honeybuns."

Izzy walked towards me and sat down on the floor next to me.

"What would you like to do on our first day of being married?" He smiled.

"I'm sorry."

"Huh?"

"I'm sorry I got sloppy. It was our wedding night, I should have behaved better-"

"Hey! Exactly, it was our wedding night. That's what's supposed to happen. I really doubt most couples are able to have sex on their wedding night. I don't know about most guys but when I've been drunk I always had difficulty keeping 'it' up." He laughed.

"Don't be sorry, I just hope you had fun. And we can literally have sex whenever we want. It doesn't matter, Mel."

"Of course I had fun, but-"

"Well that's all that matters! I had the best time last night, being with our friends and family. I had fun watching you have fun with Deb, and you were so sexy it was pretty hard keeping my hands off you. I kind of wanted to fuck you in the bathrooms like we did at that MTV thing, but we're classier than that now. We is married." Izzy winked at me.

"Wow, I forgot we did that. How rebellious of us." I reminisced.

Izzy wrapped one arm around me and gave me a tight squeeze. His other hand went to mine and he touched my wedding ring.

"I'm so happy you married me, Mel."

I felt myself melt into a pile of goop.

"I'm so happy you married me too."

"I'd kiss you but your breath is kind of rank at the moment."

"You're a poop." I gave him a little shove, but he squeezed me tighter in his hug.

"You know before I met you I was pretty anti boyfriend/ anti-marriage... now look at me." I paused, "Dude we just got married! Like what even is life right now?"

"Okay let's sweep all that mid-life crisis-y shit under the rug. What do you say we get ourselves presentable, and go out for a nice big greasy breakfast? We'll walk down to the plaza just near here and bring Rip with us?"

Sounds like a plan. We did just that, and without realising it, it would be one of the last times where Izzy and I would have a calm period of time to ourselves. It was late October 1990, and our lives would continue to be crazy until early November 1991. I had a wonderful greasy hangover cure, our breakfast was great, no one recognized Izzy for the whole day, Ripley had a good long walk along the beach – we were relaxed and crazy for each other. A newlywed couple, completely head over heels with our fur baby at our feet, it was like we were able to block out the noise happening around us and we were focused on each other. Of course, by the end of the day Izzy and I could barely keep our hands off each other. We rushed home as quickly as we could and as soon as we flew through the front door we were tearing each other's clothes off with intense hunger. Izzy was the most passionate he'd even been that afternoon. His kisses and touches were strong and eager, but he was also soft with me and always made sure I was enjoying myself. I remember I was so aroused at one point I pushed him down on his back and made my way down his body before I took his entire length in my mouth. From Izzy's sudden reaction it seemed like his head was going to explode right off his shoulders...

We were officially married.

"Holy fuck!" Izzy gasped as he rolled off me.

We were both panting heavily, and I could feel small drops of sweat run down my bare chest. I ran a hand through my hair and propped myself on my side so I could look at Izzy.

"Hey, hubby." I smiled with a heavy breath.

Izzy opened his eyes to look at me, and a big grin grew across his face.

"Hey, wifey." He breathed back.

*

The following week we went on our honeymoon, I had never been to Japan so Izzy took me there. We could only be there for just over a week as Izzy needed to go back to record and try to get his band and album in order. The sights in Tokyo amazed me, the food amazed me, and Izzy's lovemaking blew my tiny mind.

Sure, Izzy tried his best to keep his dark thoughts hidden while we were on our honeymoon but I could tell he was pretty stressed about his band being constantly coked-out, drunk or nowhere to be found at times – plus they suddenly had two brand new members with them; There was Matt of course but Axl had decided to hire a keyboardist, Dizzy. Are pianos now part of a hardcore rock band? The band needed to get their act somewhat in order since they had decided to book and play at the upcoming Rock In Rio II concert.

This was the beginning of the downfall.
