Chapter 5: Six Months Later
Melanie's P.O.V.
~ Six Months Later ~
Six whole months had passed since my Izzy encounter and since then, he and his band had absolutely exploded in the music scene. As soon as Sweet Child O' Mine was released as their new single, their sales rocketed up the charts and their album became number 1 on Billboard. And straight afterwards they released a second hard-hitting song Paradise City that was incredible. Even their first release Welcome to the Jungle, which I have to admit is a fucking awesome song, went back into the charts in the top 10. So everywhere I went I was surrounded by Guns N' Roses. Their faces everywhere in newsagents, their songs playing on the radio, video clips playing on TV and their album being advertised everywhere.
I never stopped thinking about Izzy. I often wondered where he was and what he was doing, and if he remembered me somewhat. Of course, I hadn't seen him since our encounter and after all his band did go on tour, but speaking of which, it ended a month ago, so I assumed they'd all be back home in L.A. somewhere.
I had taken up jogging in Griffith Park and I had met a new friend on one jogging trip, Deborah, and we became friends instantly. She was a really big Guns N' Roses fan and she couldn't believe that I had met them... well sort of, but I only talked to Izzy, which happened to be Deborah's favourite member so she was pretty jealous.
We went jogging together every day and we were quite fit now. When we met we were both complaining about how much exercise sucked and we made a new years resolution to get fit. Well, it worked anyway.
"Wait, can we stop for a second. I'm dying here." Deborah puffed.
We had been running straight for roughly an hour and I think she had overworked herself. Last night we went to a party *cough-Demi-Moore's-party-cough* and she got pretty pissed. Determined to get over her hangover she wanted to run. Good plan...
"Fuck! I shouldn't have drunken that much. I'm so buggered today. Shit!" She complained as she flopped down on the grass under the shade of a really big tree.
Deb was a bit of a party animal and she had 0% of shame in her, only 100% confidence, and she was a natural comedienne.
I was pretty puffed too so I sat down next to her.
"You want ice cream after this?" She asked.
"Yep" I answered immediately. I needed a sugar hit so badly.
We sat there puffing and looking around the park. We had some rain the other day and now the park was so green! It was pretty majestic. As I looked around and saw families having picnics, people cycling and walking, I saw a guy playing fetch with his dog at least 200 metres away or something. His dog was jumping around the place and he suddenly tackled his dog scruffing it behind its ears and patting it like mad; just showing it pure love I guess. They looked happy together and it was pretty cute watching them. Eventually, the dude picked up the stick and threw it in our direction. Of course, the dog followed, picked it up, but didn't return. It just kept running in our direction.
At first, I wasn't worried because it was still pretty far away but it kept on running and it got closer and closer. I saw behind it, its owner started to jog after it now realising it wasn't coming back. As this dog got closer though, it began to look a little familiar. A Rottweiler, an energetic one at that, galloping straight towards me...
The dog was a few feet away now, and it began to slow down as soon as I mumbled:
"Ripley?"
It reached me, dropped the stick and started to lick my hand whilst madly wagging its tail. I looked at its collar and there right in front of me on its tag, it read Ripley.
"Holy shit" I muttered.
"What?" Deborah asked still puffing. "Ew! Why are you patting that? I thought you hated dogs."
I snapped my head up and there a few feet away stood Izzy staring at me looking a little stunned, probably as much as I was.
He walked closer and damn did he look good, I mean... he got closer and picked up Ripley's lead.
"Melanie?" He asked with his beautifully slightly rough voice.
"Izzy?" I asked.
"Izzy?!" Deborah screamed as she looked up and saw the Izzy Stradlin standing right before her.
"Izzy." I said with a smile.
Hey guys! Did ya like it? And what are the chances of running into sexy-pants in a park, eh? ;)
