Chapter 7. Best friend

I waited for the elevator to arrive. It's early and I wasn't really in the mood today. The only bright light today was my trouble maker. I was eager to see him, but he's probably still asleep. It's way to early for him. I peeked into the ha her and saw him parked there. A smile crept up on my face. I turned away from the elevator and walked up to his alt-mode. I heard the soft sounds of his symbols. He's adorable when he's asleep. I laid my hand on the smooth half warm metal. 'Morning handsome.' I crouched down next to him. I leaned against his alt-mode. There was a soft vent coming from him. 'I will see you during my lunch break,' I whispered and got up.

I walked back to the elevator and headed towards the office. It was surprisingly quiet. A little bored, I sat down and started my computer. I opened my drawer to grab a pen but found some chocolate and a note:

"From your favorite mech ❤️"

I started smiling. 'Thank you, Sideswipe,' I chuckled and slumped back. It's never too early for chocolate and since my period started today, I've all the right to take a bite or two, maybe eat the whole thing. While the chocolate treats my tastebuds, I stared at the loading screen. It always takes an eternity to load and start. That's why I hate when Sideswipe unplugs the computer.

'Eating during your shift?'

I jumped up. Prowl crossed his arms. 'Sideswipe left it for me,' I quipped. 'Isn't a little bit too early for that?' I looked at the chocolate bar. 'It's never too early for chocolate and I need if.' He huffed. 'That mech has a bad influence on you. He's grounded so stay away from him today.' My face dropped. 'What? What did he do in less than 10 hours?'

'Misbehaving, what else,' he scolded. I really need a daily dose of Sideswipe. 'So no lunching with him either?'
'Absolutely not! That mech doesn't deserve anything right now. Don't make me see you talking to him or you get extra work too,' he growled. Prowl turned around and marched out. Someone is cranky today... what the hell did Sideswipe do this time?

I did had lunch on my own around 12. It was pretty crowded and I had hoped to catch a glimpse of my trouble maker. Prowl was smart. Of course he didn't let Sideswipe have his break around the same time as I have, if Sideswipe even got a break. When Prowl is in a bad mood, Sideswipe might end up not having a break at all today.

I kept scanning, hoping he would bend the rules again, but surprisingly enough, he never showed up. I bit my lip, tapping on the table. There's not way I won't be seeing Sideswipe today and have a quick word with him. After my lunch I got up to search for him. I knew he was assigned to some cleaning chores; it's the punishments he gets a lot because he dreads it.

It wasn't too hard to find him. Ironhide had indeed assigned him to do some cleaning. I watched him mop the floor and scowl. He's angry. 'You miss a spot.' Sideswipe gave me a look. 'Do I look like a cleaner to you?' He scolded. I started smiling. 'What did you do?' He rested the mop against the wall and walked up to me. 'I was cheeky.' I hummed and leaned against the wall. 'You're still my favorite mech.'

'She, you found it?' I nodded. 'Thank you, I needed it.' He brushed some strands behind my ear. 'I know. I'm that amazing.' I chuckled at his arrogant statement. 'You don't have any training to give today?' He huffed; 'Ironhide took over so I can spend my day cleaning,' he growled,— rolling his eyes. I laid my hand on his cheek. 'Don't be cranky, handsome. If you're not grounded anymore we go to the cinema and get some food from McDonalds.' He started smiling at that. 'I needed a daily dose of Sideswipe today and then I had a cranky Prowl bursting into the office, telling me to leave you alone. Guess you see me bending the rules for once.' He laughed at that.

We both froze as we heard Prowl clearing his throat. 'Are you two magnetic? I told you two stay away from him!' I flinched. 'Oh come on, Prowler... leave her alone.' Sideswipe shot him a nasty glare. 'You're grounded two more days and you... go home.' My eyes widened. 'What?'
'You heard me. Next time I see you talking to him while he's grounded and you're fired.' My jaw almost dropped and Sideswipe really started to get angry. 'You don't talk to my best friend like that! If you have a problem with me than fine... but you leave her alone!' Prowl grabbed his jaw, slamming him against the wall. 'Watch your tone, Sideswipe. Maybe a couple of days in the brig will get some sense into you.'

His eyes widened. I know how much hates it. 'I'll go. Don't throw him in the brig. It's my fault. I wanted to see him, just to see if he's okay, that's all.' Prowl let go and stepped back. 'Fine, two weeks then. No contact between you two for two weeks. If you try you get her fired.' Sideswipe was pissed off at this point. 'It's not fair!' He shouted and stormed off. 'Go home, Katie. You're done here.' I left without saying anything else. Sideswipe is right, it's not fair.

Back home, I sat down on the couch and took out the note Sideswipe had left for me. He's stubborn, cocky and arrogant but he had a good spark. Just rebellious I guess. I smiled a little; reading the note again. These two weeks are going to be hard and boring. No Sideswipe is the worst thing that can happen to me. He's my person.
