Chapter 4. Wingman
'You're a drama queen.'
I rolled my eyes at Sideswipe's behavior, but I guess he's just seeking attention. The mech pouted,— his beautiful ocean blue eyes glinstering with excitement and mischief. I loved those eyes. They always made me dreamy. He knew the power of his eyes pretty well. He used them all the time to get things done. Not just with me but also with other people. He fiddled with the cabling of my computer. 'Sideswipe...' I warned. He hummed, still toying with the black wire. 'I swear... if you unplug my computer again...'
He laughed. 'Then what? Are you going to beat me?' He taunted. 'I might... yes.' he smirked. 'Are you going to do something excited?' I looked up from the screen to meet his gaze. 'I have a date tonight...' he but his lip. 'Can I be your wingman? No! I'll be your car for tonight!' I shook my head. 'No, Sideswipe! I mean it...'
'Come on! I can save you from a boring date!'
'No, Siders. That's asking for a disaster to unfold.' He rolled his eyes and leaned onto the desk. 'Please, give me some fun. I'll be your wingman and I can help you! I'm amazing with dating, you know that.' I snorted and sat back. 'I'll be your fancy sports car. It's a test, you know... if he only talks about my alt-mode all the time, it's about money and not you. I am the perfect test!'
I gave him a look. 'Right?' I groaned and shook my head. 'Forget about it, Sides. You're not going. I don't need a fancy sports car to impress people,' I muttered. 'You do, because you suck impressing people.' He sat back down. 'I promise, I will behave.' That seemed highly unlikely. When he doesn't like someone, people will know and most likely wish they never existed. 'No, you won't. You've always something mean to say about human males.'
'I like William, and Epps...' he trailed off. 'The only two humans makes you get along with. It's your ego, Sideswipe. I told you that before.' I collected some papers and got back up. 'Where are you going? We are in the middle of an serious argument.' He crossed his arms. 'No, we aren't. I am done and I have to walk my rounds and collect mail. You, are going to give a training in twenty minutes. Maybe you should prepare for that instead of bugging me about my date.'
He got up. 'We are not done talking about this. I should be there, to make sure there's not some sort of maniac waiting for you. Who knows? You're meeting people from the internet and there are some crazy people out there. What if he tries to rape you?' I pushed him aside. 'In a public restaurant? Seems unlikely but I appreciate your concern.'
I left the office and walked my rounds to bring and collect mail. I didn't want to take Sideswipe to my date. Not that I'd be t appreciate him, but because I can't trust him. I don't want him to start a scene.
At five, I finished my work. A but early today, but I didn't really mind. Prowl had just dismissed me. Of course Mr. Mischief was waiting for me in the hangar I had to pass. 'You don't sneak pass me that easily,' he mocked as I approached. 'My answer is still no. I'm serious about it!' I crossed my arms but all he did was smirking and looking at me. He didn't take me seriously. 'So am I. Now, hop in so we can prepare.' I shook my head. 'No.' I passed him. 'I will completely ruin your date tonight if you don't give in.'
'Why do always need to threaten people?' I scolded. 'Because that's my way of getting what I want. You know im serious. I don't bluff, so if you're wise, you get into my alt-mode.' He gestured at the passenger seat. 'I hate you.'
' Ah, ya don't. You love me.' He winked at me as he drove off. I stared out of the window. It's a disaster waiting to be unfold.
He drove straight back home and parked on my lane. 'Come on!' He grabbed my wrist and almost dragged me into the house. He stormed upstairs, straight to my room and went through whole closet. 'This is the outfit you'll going to wear.' A huge smile crept up on his face as he showed me. 'I'm not a hooker. This is a date, remember?'
'Then why do you have these clothing if you never wear it?' He asked. 'I don't know... I thought I liked until I actually wore it.'
'You've a beautiful, slim and toned belly. I want to see it.' He pushed it in my hands. 'Right...' I trailed off. 'Do you got something with a butt lift?' I shot him a glare. 'Just askin'...' he shrugged his broad shoulders. 'Sometimes, I hate you.' He grinned devilishly. He was clearly enjoying this. 'You know I'm not going on a date with you, right?' He shrugged and pushed me towards the bathroom. 'So? Mr I see you wear something hot for once? Your body is really nice, show it off.' He pushed me into the bathroom and shut the door.
An hour later, I drove in Sideswipe's alt-mode towards the restaurant while he was debriefing me on what to say and what not to say. It's not my first date, but I guess he was just trying to help. I tried to park, he didn't let me. 'No, closer towards the restaurant.' He took over driving and parked at least three rows closer to the restaurant. 'Remember, smile, don't talk about boring stuff and just be sexy.' He opened his door for me. 'That's easy for you to say,' I muttered, unbuckling my seatbelt and hopped out. 'You're gonna be fine!' I snorted and shut his door. 'Behave, okay?'
He didn't reply. I sighed and turned around. When I'm talking to Sideswipe everything seems so natural and easy. It's always been that way; since the moment I met him but when I meet new people, it's hard. I took one deep breath before walking into the restaurant. I know he'll be listening closely to my conversations.
My date, Nathan, was already waiting for me. He got up and embraced me. 'Nice to finally meet you.' I forced a smile on my face and sat down, taking off my coat. 'Is that your car?' He gestured at the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2009 outside. 'Uh, yeah...' I muttered, grabbing some bread to settle my nerves. 'Damn, nice car.' He stared at it. 'Anyway...' I trailed off to change the subject. This is exactly why I didn't want Sideswipe to be visible. He will think in rich or some sort of golddigger. We didn't had much in common, and I skipped desert. I was more than happy when it was over. We walked outside.
'Well, thank you for the evening, but I have to go.'
Nathan grabbed my arm. 'Right, can't you give me a ride home?' That didn't seem like a good idea and I didn't have to debate for much longer either. 'She said she was leaving now get your filthy hands off her.' Sideswipe pushed Nathan away from me. 'Who the hell do you think you are.' I mentally cringed. Why does Sideswipe always have to interfere with everything?
'I'm her person, her best friend and she said she was leaving now fuck off!' Sideswipe made himself bigger, to intimidate Nathan. He didn't have to do that. Sideswipe is much taller and muscular than Nathan. No need to make himself even bigger. 'Okay, fine...' Nathan backed off and left. 'Come on, let's go home.' Sideswipe grasped my hand. 'Did you really had to do that? Now you chased him away,' I muttered. 'It was a disaster anyway,' he mocked. 'For my wingman, you're not really supportive.' He laughed coldly, something I hadn't heard before. 'I won't let him drive my alt-mode nor allow him to touch or kiss you. He's not good enough.'
'Right...' I trailed off and hopped in. 'If I approve of this mech, he's good enough for you.' He shut his door. 'Well, that's gotta be a long list you have then.' He shrugged and drove off. 'You sound jealous.' He snorted. 'Jealous? Don't make me laugh. Why would I be jealous? I can get any girl I want.' I snorted at that. 'I bet.'
'Now you sound jealous.' I shot gonna glare. 'You're a playboy and a bad influence.' He raised a brow. 'Ouch...' I rolled my eyes. 'Drama queen.' I nudged him softly. 'I'm driving.' He gave me a look. 'You knew tonight would suck, didn't you? Why all this effort then?'
'Because why not? At least you're trying.' I sighed unhappily. 'I guess...' I shrugged it off and let him hold my hand.
