Chapter 3. Medbay

I needed Sideswipe. Not because I had missed him so much. We had only been separated for one day, but because I felt like shit and he had the habit to make me feel better. A lot better and sometimes he didn't even know how I really felt. I peeked into the hanger. No sign of the silvery mech, but I did see Prowl. I walked up to him. 'Sir?' He turned around. 'I have the labs back.' I grabbed the folder and handed it to him. 'I think the results will surprise you.' He raised a brow and looked through it briefly. 'The rock comes from the volcano Stromboli. It erupted three months. There's also something else...' he glanced at me. 'I thought it was an error, but the machine detected something that's not in the database and I didn't know either what it is.'

'Thank you.' He turned around and walked off. 'Yeah, no problem,' I muttered. Sideswipe was nowhere to be seen to my disappointment. I guess he's on a patrol then. 'Katie, Sup?' Jazz smiled at me while leaning against his alt-mode. 'Hey...' I walked up to him. 'I heard you ran the labs on that piece of rock?' I nodded. 'Yeah... I study earth science, so...' I trailed off. 'And you work here? At a military base?' He scoffed. 'Yeah, just a side job,' I mumbled. 'I see, although you made a weird choice working here, I know Sideswipe would be devastated if you stop. He can't stop talking about and that says a lot. He's usually not really attached to girls, so...'

I blushed a little. 'Ah, there he is.' Jazz gestured with his head. I quickly turned around. Sideswipe rolled towards me and transformed. 'Hey, Sides.' I smiled. He scooped me up. 'You're early.' I shrugged. 'Your amor is shiny today.'
'I know. I spend a couple of hours buffing it last night.' He wheeled away. 'Oh, I need your opinion.' He hummed without looking up. 'I made a pie... and I want to know what you think.' I saw a smile forming on his lips. 'Ahw, really?' He purred. I nodded. He placed me on the hallway.

'So, you came an hour early to make me eat pie?'

'No, well... I came because I needed someone to cheer me up a little bit.' I shrugged. 'Why? Having a bad day?' I nodded. 'Yeah, and it just started.' He smiled. 'I will make it better for ya.' He transformed and activated his holoform. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. 'Alright, sweetspark. Tell me about and give me the pie in the meantime.' He pushed me forward. He led me to his room. He still hadn't cleaned it. Sometimes I helped him, but he never managed to keep it clean for longer than a week.

I pulled out a small Tupperware box and handed it to him. 'My favorite!' He snitched it from my hands and flopped on his bed. I handed him a fork I took from my kitchen. 'So, why do you have a bad day?' He asked, smiling a little. I watched him take a bite. 'Well, my neighbor sucks, he's trying to hit on me since I got here and he doesn't stop bothering me. It was very awkward this morning the elevator. I have a bad grade, I started my period and I think I miss home a little bit.' He ohh'ed beforehand taking another bite.

'Shall I punch your neighbor? Would it make you feel better?' I chuckled. 'He's 55, Sideswipe. There's a 34 year gap between us. He's a pervert.' Sideswipe stopped eating. '55!' He exclaimed. I nodded. 'He's trying to hit on a 21 year old girl? Why haven't you told me this before?'
I shrugged. 'Well, all he did for so far is making dirty comment when I pass... when I moved in he wanted to have dinner with me and offered me his help. It just starts to get a little creepy. He knows I'm alone.'

'It's ridiculous.' I hummed. I picked up on his angry facial features and changed the subject. 'Anyway... there's a guy that texted me and wanted to go on a date with me.' I grabbed my phone and showed him a picture. He hadn't been over his anger yet and dismissed it. 'You should've told me sooner this pervert is trying to get you in bed.'

I know how angry Sides can get. It doesn't occur often, but when it does, I'm glad I'm not involved. We have never had one single fight, luckily. 'Like I said... i thought I could handle it,' I mumbled. He gave me a look. 'I told you the apartment complex you live in sucks. These people only have bad intentions. I've to park my alt-mode two blocks away because if I don't they steal my tires. That's not a place for a girl like you to live in.'

He was kinda right, but I had no choice. 'I know, I know but I don't have the budget to move right now, Sideswipe. $900 is all I can afford right now. I promise to move out as soon as I can.' He uttered a long, irritated sigh before taking another bite of the pie I made. 'Fine... but you stay over here more often,' he muttered.

Sideswipe had to train the rookies and I had to return to the office area. I was pretty sure I would see him during lunch. This time, I wanted to wrap it up before he could unplug my computer again.

He usually right on time, but not today. Which was off. A break is sacred for him. I got up and left the office. I bumped into Ironhide on my way to the main hanger. 'Oh, I am sorry.' I quickly took a step back. 'It's alright kiddo.'
'Have you seen Sideswipe? He's a little late. That's odd for him.'

'He's in the medbay.'

I frowned. 'What did he do?' Sideswipe hates the medbay. 'He banged his head against the concrete floor. The idiot fell of the stairs.' I frowned. 'He fell of the—' I had to take a minute and process the words. How on earth did that happen? 'He missed a step or did he had a fight again?'
I assumed he had gotten into a fight again. It happened a lot lately. 'Honestly, I don't know. You should ask for yourself.' Ironhide passed and I turned left to head to the Medbay.

He was sitting on the medial berth with some ice against his head. 'Sides? What the hell did you do?' He looked irritated. 'Don't ask me—' he waved his hand. I sighed and walked up to him, removing the ice to have a look. I mis have hit his head hard. 'I think I might have a concussion.'
All I could do was hum in agreement. 'You had a fight again?'

He groaned. 'No, I tripped.'
'Just like that?'
'Yeah, just like that.'
I didn't really believe him and watched him lay down. 'Headache?' He nodded and closed his eyes for a moment. I grabbed the ice from him and held it in place. Ratchet strode in 10 minutes later. 'Your CT looks fine but you need to watch out,' Ratchet warned. I gazed at Sideswipe. 'You're going to be really sore tomorrow. You fell 40 steps down. I will give you these painkillers. Get some rest and lace your shoes for Primus sake!'

Ratchet placed the little pot on the metal table next the medics berth. 'Don't say it!' He warned as he saw the look on my face. 'I told you so.' He grunted. 'Maybe you should consider buying Velcro shoes.' Now I got a glare. I ran my hand through his dark hair. 'You're not being funny, if that was your goal.' I rubbed over his cheek. 'Sorry.' I dimmed the lights a little bit and sat beside him. 'Do yourself a favor and skip the date. It's not gonna work out anyway,' he muttered with eyes closed. 'I thought you weren't interested.'

He opened one eye. 'I am, but not right after you told about that pervert,' he scolded. 'You need to get laid.'
He groaned and threw his head back. 'I know...' he whined.
'Download Tinder.' He laughed mockingly. 'I can get any girl I like, I've my charms. Tinder is asking for a disaster to unfold. People lie and catfish. Instead of getting a 45°, I probably end up in a depression. I still don't agree with you having Tinder.' He gave a cranky glare. 'If you feel the same needs as I do, we go work things out—' I slapped his arm softly. I blushed madly. I deeply hated it from myself. 'Shut up, Sideswipe. You fell to hard on your head.' He chuckled at my reactio.

'I did actually.I need some water, could you get it for me? But make sure it's not too warm... nor too cold.' I gave him a look. 'Drama queen. If you had just laced your shoes like I told you to do million of times, none of this would've happened in the first place.' He didn't reply and closed his eyes, maybe even a little bit offended. I sighed and got. 'Fine, I'll go get you some water.'

'Thank you...'
'Maybe some food too?'

'Oh, please. Don't! I can't stand the smell of food right now.' I couldn't help but snort. 'I'll be right back then.' I turned on my heels and headed for the doorway.  'Maybe a second pillow? I'm sore already.' I sighed. 'Alright, your highness,' I taunted before leaving. I didn't wait for another reply, just in case he would ask me more stuff.  Probably risk leaving a second time.
