Chapter 15. Mood
'Why on earth didn't you wake me sooner, Sideswipe!'
Sideswipe took a step back and watched me move around. 'But I did.' Was all he said. He crossed his arms. 'Yeah, 1.5 hour ago would've been nice,' I scolded. 'Sweetspark. I am a Chevrolet... how fast do you think I can get at the base?' He mocked. I paused and turned to face him. Sideswipe held up my keys. 'I even made you your lunch. Relax, we are in time and you've nothing to stress about. Go get your coat and shoes.' I walked towards the hall. 'You made me lunch?' I peeked into the living room. 'Obviously...' he smirked. I shook my head while lacing my shoes.
'Ready?' I grabbed my coat and nodded. 'Yeah.' Sideswipe handed me my bag. It's nothing for Sideswipe to be up early, but I was glad with his help. I hopped in the passenger seat and buckled up,— turning on some music. He left the garage and drove off. 'When will Sunny be on earth? After all the stories I'm quite excited to meet him.' I looked sideways. 'I hope soon. Sunny didn't really gave me a date, but I know he's close. I need to warn you though... Sunstreaker is a psychopath and he's not the same. He can be a little aggressive.' I nodded slowly. 'Yeah, I know.'
'He isn't always nice.' I hummed and slumped back, relaxing a little as Sideswipe weaved through the traffic. 'Ey, Uhm... don't tell anyone about what happened last night. Ratchet in particular.' Sideswipe cocked a brow. 'I didn't had plans to put it in the newspaper,' he joked a little. I rolled my eyes. 'Why not? Maybe he had some sleeping pills or something that calms you down.'
'I know... it's just—' I sucked in a breath. 'I just hate my paranoia and I'm working on a base full of soldiers that went through much more. I don't wanna—' I cut myself off. 'Complain? You were attacked by a Decepticon. Multiple, Katie. A lot of soldiers never went through that. It's nothing to be ashamed off. Any idea how many nights it kept me awake? Seriously, you're going to be fine.' He patted my shoulder.
'Right.'
He drove into the base and parked. 'Thank you, Sideswipe. I'll see you with lunch?' He nodded and kissed my cheek. 'Always.' I smiled and hopped out,— closing his door and started walking towards the office. Maybe having Sideswipe as my guardian isn't that bad. I thought it would be a disaster, especially now with Nathan, but it surprised me how much he tried to behave.
Strangely enough, Sideswipe didn't came to visit me so I searched for him. He was still giving combat training. I briefly ogled his biceps. They were impressive to say the least and I never really eyed them or any of his muscles but I know he had an impressive torso and sixpack as well. Sideswipe walked up to me. 'If you had a computer I would've unplugged it.' He laughed and softly nudged me. 'I bet.' He pressed a kiss on the side of my head. 'So, it's official now? You became her guardian?'
The question came from a rookie. An arrogant one by the looks of it. Sideswipe only nodded and stared at him with that familiar intense stare. 'Can she fight?' I shook my head. 'No, I'm not a soldier,' I replied. 'Right...' the young man seemed pretty interested. 'Maybe you should go back to your partner. I think he's waiting.' There was a small hint of annoyance in Sideswipe's voice. We watched him turn around and walk off. 'Don't bother him, that's Oliver.' Sideswipe grunted and crossed his arms. I chuckled and met his gaze. 'It's almost adorable how protective you are sometimes,' I purred. 'And at the same time you hate it.'
'Only if you ruin my dates.'
I nudged him. Sideswipe opened his mouth to say something but clearly changed his mind. 'Never mind. I'll be there in five minutes.' It was my signal to leave. 'Sure.' I turned around and walked off. I waiting for Sideswipe in the cafeteria. While I was waiting, I got a call from Nathan. 'Hey, baby.' I started smiling. 'Hey,' I purred. 'Busy today?'
'No, you want to hang out?'
Sideswipe joined me and gave me a look. He changed his chair and sat beside me so he could listen. I gave him a push but he stayed out. 'I do, but without that Autobot. I don't like him,' he muttered. Sideswipe rolled his eyes and tapped on the table. 'Well, there is improvement. Give him some time,' I muttered. Sideswipe poked me. I slapped his bicep, leaving a red mark.
'I'll see you tonight at 7? Why don't you come to me this time?' Sideswipe shook his head rapidly. 'Sure, I'll be there.' The mech facepalmed. 'Love you,' I purred before disconnecting the call. 'Love you,' he childish repeated me. 'Shut up, Sideswipe.' He smirked. 'It's going to rain. I don't want to be parked in the rain. I'll stay in the garage this time.' I snorted. 'Like last time? Yeah, I bet.' I unwrapped the sandwich Sideswipe made me. 'Swipes, relax.' I embraced him. 'Why don't you go seek for a femme to Frag?'
'I don't want to.'
I cocked a brow. 'You don't want to?' I repeated in utter disbelief. 'Yeah, I'm not in the mood.' I stared at him like he just grew three heads. 'Right, yeah... that's—' I cut myself off. 'That doesn't make sense but alright. If you say so,' I mocked. He slumped back. 'Not hungry?' He shook his head and rubbed stomach. 'I have an upset stomach. I forgot my holoform can catch a cold and sick,' he sighed. 'If we get home I'll make you some chicken broth.' He smirked. 'You're going to pamper me now.'
'Shut up.' I softly kicked his legs. After my lunch break I went back to the office while Sideswipe was getting some recharge.
