Chapter 13. Passing by
I wanted to pass by Katie anyway. She told me she had to study but it didn't stop me from passing by. I looked forward to this and I needed to be with her. I parked my alt-mode and took note of the Mustang parked on her drive way. She doesn't have a car and she would never pick a Mustang. Its not her type of brand. If she would ever buy a car it would be an pick-up truck or something. The front door opened and she walked out with Nathan. Katie was still hanging around him. I thought he would've quitte by now; but I guess I was wrong. She somehow got him to get back to her.
I watched the ordeal and witnessed him kissing her. It was like someone just ripped my spark out. I tightly gripped my steering wheel. Katie seemed happy with him. Gosh, I wish I could be that mech. She hopped in his alt-mode and they drove off. I stayed for a little while; staring at her house and hopped out. She had given me the key to her house so getting it was easy and walked into her kitchen. I dropped off the things I bought for our weekend together and I wanted her to know I was at her home.
That Monday Katie searched for me. 'Hey, Sides!' She chirped. I glanced at her. 'How was your weekend? Studied enough?' She nodded hesitantly. 'Why didn't you call beforehand? If you called—' I cut her off. 'Then you could've thrown Nathan out? Yeah... exactly because of that. You lied to me... again.' Her eyes went wide. 'You also lied to me about the movie! You had already seen and you lied right in my face.'
'You didn't had to lie. If you just told me...' I trailed off. 'Last time I did that you almost ruined it for me. I really like Nathan and you're good at ruining everything so yes, I did lie because I don't want you to interfere,' she snapped before storming off. I kicked the wall before leaning against it. I needed to get my anger out so I went to the gym and spend my entire morning there.
'Sideswipe?'
I punched the punchbag again. 'What do you want!' I snapped while kicking. Ironhide watched me kick and punch the bag. 'I only came to tell you Optimus approached, maybe that makes you happier.' I kicked the punchbag off the hook with a roar. It fell and opened up. It's content spreading over the floor. Ironhide stared it before looking back at me. 'What's going on?'
'My spark hurts... that's going on.' He cocked a brow. 'Your twin?' I shook my head. 'No, he's fine.' I focused on our bond and felt his presence. Sunny is with me. I could feel him sharing his comfort and warmth. It calmed me down. 'He's there... Sunny is fine,' I mumbled before sitting down and removed the bandages from my hands. 'It's the femme... she's in love.' I shrugged. 'Ah...' Ironhide sat down beside me. 'And you think it helps to fight?' I gazed at him. 'She's happy, Sideswipe and if you're really her best friend, you need to accept that.'
'Yeah, whatever.'
I got up and grabbed my bottle of water. 'At least you're guardian now.' I huffed. 'As if she cares about that! She won't be happy, she wasn't even excited when I brought it up,' I muttered. 'Why did you help her with her dates if you don't want her to date anyone?'
'Because I thought no one wanted her. I didn't think there would be anyone willing to look through her nerdy appearance and see the amazing person she is. Don't tell me I'm being mean because she is a nerd.' He huffed and shook his head. 'You usually don't even fall for girls that don't wear short shirts and skirts.' I huffed.
'Usually, the girls I hang out with aren't that nice. She's maybe not that sexy, but I have seen her in different clothing and just differently. That was breathtaking. You should've seen her. She looked amazing. I think she dresses the way she does because she doesn't want to track too much attention. I don't want her to get hurt because of me. She's paranoid, a lot lately and I'm worried. She was complaining about a knife that suddenly disappeared...' I shrugged.
'Then it's good you're around to protect her.'
I shrugged. 'If she still allows me,' I taunted. 'She will.' He patted my shoulder and walked off. I visited Katie after a hot shower. I strode in and sat down on the chair. 'Katie?' She was ignoring me. I got up and walked around the desk; playing with her hair. I moved to her shoulders; massaging her. She stopped typing and rested her head against my stomach. I felt her shiver as I continued.
'I don't like what is going on between us,' she mumbled; looking up. 'Me neither. I'm sorry, you were right... I was a jackass and you had all the right to be mad and lying. Can you forgive me?' She nodded. I pressed a kiss on her forehead. I hoisted her up and sat down; pulling her in my lap. She leaned into me. 'If he makes you happy then I don't want to take that from you.'
'You almost did.'
'I'm sorry.' I nuzzled in her hair. 'Let's forget about it.' I quietly agreed and looked at her screen. 'You know... Prime approached. I'm officially your guardian.' She perched her head and softly grasped my biceps. 'Really?' I nodded. That was the excitement I missed. 'Unless you don't want it anymore.' She shook her head and hugged me. I chuckled at her reaction.
'I need to get back to work.'
'But it's lunch time.'
'I'm a little behind on it.'
I wrapped my arm around her waist and held her as she worked. 'Plans for tonight?' She nodded. 'Yeah, Nathan would take me for dinner.' I faked a smile and tried not to show my annoyance. 'Right, but I'm your guardian now.' All she did was shaking her head.
