chapter three !
❪ "stalking me now?" ❫

"VERY SMART gamble boys," Maddie said sarcastically, Robby and Demetri walking inside Miguel and Eli's room with their bags.

"Yeah. Somebody said it wasn't gonna be a gamble." Demetri huffed and turned his head towards Robby.

"I didn't wanna get involved, remember?" Robby rolled his eyes. "I told you to stay away from Cobra Kai. It's so simple."

Hawk narrowed his eyes. "If it's so simple then why don't you follow your own advice?"

"What are you talking about?"

"We all saw you talking to Tory." Hawk pointed out.

Maddie rolled her eyes. "Guys, give him a break. I mean, she's his girlfriend."

"Yeah," Miguel nodded. "He's dealing with her decision. Same as the rest of us."

"I wouldn't say that exactly," Sam spoke up. "You knew Kreese came to Tory."

Everyone looked at Robby in confusion. "What? You did?" Miguel asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"Yeah. I... I mean, I knew that Kreese went to Tory, yeah, but it was before her mom died." Robby defended. "He was trashing Miyagi-Do saying she wasn't gonna have a fair shot. She told him to get lost. Come on, I didn't know she was gonna do this."

"Really?" Sam frowned. "This is what Kreese does. He played her and he played you. You lied to us about it."

Maddie looked at Sam. "He didn't lie though. And jeez, he doesn't have to tell y'all everything."

Hawk scoffed. "Yeah, defend your brother but if we're being honest, if he would've told us about Kreese visiting her, we could've convinced Tory not to join them."

"Oh please," Maddie crossed her arms. "You're acting like you were besties with her, but before all of this, y'all did nothing but just shit on her."

"That's not true." Miguel denied.

"You literally cheated–"

"Guys! Enough." Robby interrupted. "Let's just all get a goodnight sleep because tomorrow we have a big day."

With that, Maddie stormed out of the boys room and went inside her own. She took a midnight shower to clear her mind and slipped into her silk pajamas.

Before she closed her eyes, she turned off the lamp that was on the bedside table. The whole room was dark. The only light that was visible was coming from the moon, her curtains being wide opened.

Maddie tossed and turned as she tried her best to sleep but she couldn't.

All that was on her mind right now was tomorrow. She was nervous. If she lets her team down as captain, they'll all hate her.

Hate.

Hate.

She jumped out of bed, annoyed with herself for overthinking. She slipped her feet into her slippers and left the room.

Maybe a quick little walk would help calm these thoughts down, She thought. The hotel hallway was bright, her eyes almost blinding since she came out of the dark room.

She made sure to be quiet but alerted about her surroundings. Maddie twirled the end of her hair as she continued to walk down the hallway.

She was met with a vending machine filled with sweets and snacks. Maybe a midnight snack will help her. Maddie sighed though when she remembered that she didn't bring any money with her.

She slapped the machine out of anger until a voice from afar startled her. "Fate is back at it again."

Maddie turned her head, her eyes meeting those familiar brown ones. "Stalking me now?" she asked with a huff.

Kwon smirked. "Don't act too excited to see me, 예쁜 여자."

The blonde narrowed her eyes. "What does that even mean?" Kwon walked towards her before stopping beside her, staring her down.

"It means, pretty girl." He answered and passed by her to stand in front of the vending machine.

Maddie gave him a tight lipped smile. "I'm so flattered," She watched as Kwon pulled out a dollar and pressed on the number for the snack that he wanted.

"Why are you awake at this time?" He inquired. The candy dropped and Kwon bent down to grab it. "Aren't princesses supposed to get their beauty sleep?"

Maddie let out a dry chuckle. "I'm far from a princess."

"And why is that?"

"I'm too difficult to be handled." She teased. Maddie walked closer to stand in front of the vending machine before her fist met with it again.

No candy dropped.

Kwon smirked in amusement. "I can handle you," he spoke up. "I can handle you on the mat," those words caused Maddie to whip around with furrowed eyebrows, the short distance between them surprising her.

"I can even handle you in bed," he whispered down at her. Maddie's eyes widened at his cockiness as his fist banged once on the vending machine behind her.

She flinched at the sudden noise and turned around, seeing all the snacks that fell. Maddie smiled and bent down before grabbing all of the free sweets.

Kwon watched as she did so, a grin forming on his lips. Maddie faced him and gave him a small smile, "Um thanks, I guess."

She was about to walk away until a cold hand grasped onto her wrist, stopping her. Maddie looked back at Kwon. "What am I going to get in return?"

Maddie cocked her head to the side. "I'm not sure yet." She told him. "Maybe a little fun." Kwon raised his eyebrows. "But only if you work hard for it."

With those risky words leaving her mouth, she turned away from the boy and began walking towards her room. Kwon grinned, "Oh I will," he called out.

Maddie kept glancing back at him until she went back inside her private room, fighting the smile on her face that was forming.
