~Chapter 5~

Eight Years Ago. . .

Tommy jumped the small stream, wings spread open as he giggled. His bare feet thumped against the ground as he heard Fundy behind him, the younger child giggling at his uncle. “WAIT UP!” Tommy skidded to a stop, looking behind himself to see Fundy at the edge of the stream, orange eyes going from the stream to the blond avian. He looked nervous, tail swishing side to side as if he was trying to think through a problem.

“What’s wrong?” Tommy asked, tilting his head.

“I…” He paused, looking back up from the stream towards his uncle. “Do you think I’ll make it?” Tommy paused, looking at the shallow stream before brightly smiling.

“Of course!” Tommy said excitedly, wings fluttering behind him. “You can make it! Just jump to the other side!” Fundy still looked unsure. Tommy could imagine the stream looked bigger to the toddler, the blond smiling before kneeling onto the grassy ground, opening his arms up as he smiled. “Look! I’ll even catch you ok?” Fundy let a smile slip onto his face, taking in a huge breath before bracing himself to jump. He kicked off of the other side, slamming into Tommy’s arms on the other side. “See? Not that scary!” Fundy’s smile grew huge, looking at the other side with sparkling eyes.

“That was fun!” Tommy chuckled, standing up as Fundy ran ahead of him. “Catch me if you can!” He giggled. Tommy was going to run after Fundy, but a rustling in the bushes nearby made him pause. He looked over, curious as the bushed shook some more. He stared for a moment before walking towards it, raising a brow slightly. “Tommy?” Fundy came back, frowning slightly. Tommy looked over towards the fox hybrid, but the bushes once again shaking made him look away.

“Hello?” Nothing. He frowned. Tommy walked closer and pushed the bushes aside to reveal a scared-looking goat hybrid. His green eyes were huge, the kid frozen in place as the two stared at one another. Tommy frowned, looking at the other kid closely. He was dirty, grime covering him from head to toe, he shook in fear, and one of his small horns cracked off.

Tommy smiled kindly at the kid, letting his hand reach out for the other to take, he tried to ignore how the kid flinched at his movements. “Hey… you ok?” The kid looked like he was on the verge of crying, tears building up in his eyes. Tommy could tell that this kid had been through some things… things that young Tommy couldn’t fathom yet.

A Few Hours Later. . .

Wilbur opened the door, a dish towel flung over his shoulder as he stared at the three before him. He looked at his son and brother with a puzzled look, but once he fully took in the boy's state, the avian knew why he had brought the boy home. “Oh….What happened?” He knelt down, reaching out for the boy only for him to cower away, hiding behind the blond child. Wilbur frowned, looking at Tommy for an answer. Tommy only sadly smiled before looking at the goat hybrid.

“He won't hurt you, he’s my brother! He cares about us, and I think he’s really worried about you.” Tommy spoke quietly to the child, his huge green eyes boring into his own. He still looked unsure, but even so, he slowly walked towards to older male. Wilbur smiled kindly at him.

“C’mon kiddo, let's get you cleaned up.” He held his hand out for the kid to take, in which he did hesitantly. Tommy followed his older brother into their house as they walked in, watching as Wilbur quietly asked the new kid questions as they walked to the bathroom. Tommy couldn’t help but feel bad for the child, he looked rough.

Present. . .

Tommy stared into the fire he had started down in the ravine, his blue eyes watching the flames as he was sucked into the past. How he wished he could go back to when he was a child, clueless and just living every day one day at a time. Now, he worries about what tomorrow will bring and what could happen to him. “Oh, Wilbur… why did we come here?” He whispered, wishing the older brother would answer him. He doesn’t understand completely why Wilbur had thought of coming to the SMP, and maybe he’d never know.

Two Days Later. . .

Tommy wandered the forest with some iron armor he had managed to make when he was mining in Pogtopia. He wasn’t far from the ravine now, mostly because he didn’t like the idea of not being somewhere he felt safe. The woods around the ravine were full of sheep and cows, things he could hunt to eat. And so he was hunting. The food in Pogtopia was moldy so he couldn’t eat, so up to this point, he’d been eating the potatoes from the plants that still remained.

He was walking around the forest listening for some indication that an animal was around. He heard something, a sheep dieing. He stopped walking, blue eyes looking in the direction he heard the animal. Slowly, he made his way towards it, ducking down behind some bushes once he believed he was close enough. Poking over the top of the bush he saw a now dead sheep and someone that made his vision go red.

Dream stood over the animal, bow in hand as he inspected his catch. As usual his mask was strapped on, the man wearing a green hooded cloak instead of the green hoodie Tommy had grown used to seeing on the man. On his back was an axe, but even so it seemed the man didn’t feel like he was in danger, his body language telling the teen he was relaxed and not paying attention to the area surrounding him. Tommy’s hand twitched, his bow being summoned as his huge blue eyes watched the other.

The anger he had been trying to stuff down until the perfect moment was quickly coming to the surface, clouding Tommy’s judgment. The man that had tortured him and made his life a living hell, was standing in front of him with no clue or care of what or who was around him. In Tommy’s eyes, this was the perfect time to strike.

He silently stood up, eyes watching Dreams back as he slowly pulled a arrow out of the quiver on his waist, adrenaline keeping Tommy’s courage at a high. He pulled the deadly weapon back, gritting his teeth as his hands shook. Once Dream stood taller, reaching for the axe on his back, Tommy fired. It was like it happened in slow motion, the arrow wheezing forwards, Dream turning his head at the sound, the arrow piercing the man's ankle.

Tommy watched as Dream yelled in pain, falling to the ground in surprise before looking at his ankle and quickly trying to remove the arrow. Tommy came out of the bushes after this, a wide grin on his face and huge eyes boring into the man's very soul. Dream had stopped all movements when he saw Tommy, as if he was actually surprised to find out the blond was wandering around in the area. “Wha-?” Tommy pointed another arrow at Dream, this one aiming for his other ankle.

“Why so surprised?” Tommy’s voice almost held a amused tone to it, his eyes gleaming with something that was abnormal for the teen. “Did you think I died?” Dream said nothing, only making Tommy angry. “You did, didn’t you?” A long pause. “And you were going to leave my body to rot… weren’t you?” Dream still said nothing, only confirming Tommy’s suspicions. It made the avian angry, his smile forming into an angry and pained frown.

He stepped forwards, the arrow still pointed at Dream knowing if he showed any signs of weakness the other would use it against him. “Do you know what you did, Dream?” His voice was hushed, a quiver of anger putting Dream on edge. “Of course you don’t, how could you? You only think of yourself, how others can benefit you- how objects or even situations, can benefit you.” Tommy was angry. “You’ve ruined my life, and I’m about to ruin yours.”

With that he let the arrow fly, plunging itself into Dream’s other ankle. The man yelled in pain, going to reach for the now two arrows stuck in his legs. Tommy used this moment to overpower the other, kicking the other in the face. Dreams Mask cracked some from the attack, his face flying backwards as he fell back limply against the grassy ground. Tommy heaved for breath, his huge eyes looking at the scene before him. He couldn’t help but smile.

A Few Hours Later. . .

When Dream woke up he didn’t explicit the predicament he would awaken to, Tommy could tell. He quickly looked around, trying to yank his hands out of the rope Tommy had tied them with. They were behind his back that way it would be harder to get out of. To Tommy it was funny to watch, but after a few minutes of this he decided to let himself be known to the other. “It’s weird how the roles have changed, isn’t it?” All the struggling stopped at those cold spoken words, the man quickly rolling over to face the teen. Tommy was leaning against the wall, arms crossed as his darkened blue eyes watched the other.

“What the hell do you think you're doing?” Dream growled out, and Tommy’s eyes glistened at the tone of fear that snuck out.

“Why Dream, revenge of course!” Tommy laughed out slowly. Dream said nothing. Tommy stared at Dream, his darkened blue eyes staring at the infuriating mask in front of him. He hated that mask, he hated how he could never tell what Dream was thinking, and on many occasions that ended with another beating for Tommy. Now, Dream was stuck in Pogotpia with Tommy, hands tied to make sure Dream didn’t try anything.

Tommy didn’t bother with his legs, since they would be useless because of their injuries. Dream stared at Tommy, even if he couldn’t tell what Dream’s facial expression was he pictured his face to be twisted in fear and confusion, wondering how Tommy, a teenager who he thought was dead, was looking at him. “Oh Dream, I’ve been waiting for this.” Tommy couldn’t help but chuckle at Dream’s quivering figure, pushing himself off the wall he had been leaning against to walk closer to the other. “You made my life a living hell, Dream. You made it a living hell the moment I joined this SMP.” Dream said nothing, only warily watching the blond who inched closer. “I thought it couldn’t get worse, you know. It was bad, yes. But I thought the farthest you’d go was beating the shit out of me.” Tommy growled.

“And even that was fucking bold of you, what would you have done if someone found out what you were doing to me? A minor no less. You’d probably be thrown into prison.” Dream stiffened at Tommy’s words, and the teen couldn’t help but smile at the reaction. “But that's too kind, isn’t it Dream?” silence. “You are a controlling freak, Dream. You’re so controlling you had the guts to chop my wings off!” Tommy stood over the green hooded man, eyes staring at the mask that met his gaze with fury-filled eyes. “Do you know how much pain you put me through? Do you even care?” Tommy’s fists tightened when all he was met with was silence once again. “Why don’t I show you how much pain you put me through.”

“T-Tommy?” The man's voice quivered with fear, and Tommy couldn’t help but let his smile grow. With a flick of his wrist an axe appeared in his clutch, Dream now wiggling as he tried to get out of the rope Tommy had double knotted.

“And just like me…. You’re not gonna be able to get away, or EVER forget what I did.” Tommy shoved Dream’s back onto the ground with his foot like the other had done to him, knocking the air out of him.

“T-Tommy please-” The axe was swung next to his head, the blade slicing through the stone floor only inches away from his face. Dream went silent once again.

“You know, it’s funny. I remember saying the same thing, do you remember?” Tommy tilted his head, a huge grin forming on his face. “Do you remember what you did when I begged Dream?” He could tell Dream was scared now, the silence spoke volumes to the other. “You didn’t fucking stop Dream, you kept going until I broke.” with that he yanked the axe back out of the ground, eyes glimmering when Dream flinched away. “You know I truly hate that mask you wear- let’s take it off shall we?” Dream quickly began struggling, saying ‘no’ on a loop. Eventually Tommy got irritated and grabbed his shoulders forcing them to stay still, his angry eyes gleaming in hatred. “You don’t have a fucking choice.” With that Tommy grabbed ahold of the mask, yanking it off of the others face.

To his surprise, Dream looked pretty normal. His big green eyes stared into Tommy’s own, his freckled face pale as he waited for what was next. What caught his attention though, was the fact when he took the mask away his hood fell off revealing the goat horns on the sides of his head, the goat-like ears only making the situation better. He guessed the strap that held the mask on also kept the hood on as well, making it almost impossible for anyone to know he was a hybrid of any type. “You’re a hybrid.” Dream kept his mouth shut, huge scared green eyes sending a thrilling child through the teen's body. “I didn’t expect that…” It was perfect, actually. A huge smile forming on his face once again. With little thinking he grabbed onto one of the horns, watching the terrified look Dream gave him.

“To-” The blond quickly interrupted Dream, his grip on his horn growing tighter.

“You know, I heard that goat hybrids see their horns as their most prized possessions, a sign of their power…” Tommy’s eyes glimmered. “What’s a goat hybrid without their horns, Dream?”

“Tommy p-”

“WHAT IS A GOAT WITHOUT ITS HORNS, DREAM! ANSWER ME!” The man below him looked pained, green eyes dark and glistening with unshed tears.

“N-Nothing…” Tommy hummed, flicking his hand to summon his sword.

“Do you know what a avian is without their wings, Dream?” Tommy asked, his eyes flashing in pure thrill and amusement. “Well?”

“Nothing…?” Tommy smiled, ruffling the other's hair in an almost affectionate way.

“Wow! You’re right Dream!” Dream’s eyes looked at the sword in Tommy’s hands, trying to piece together what Tommy was planning.

“Have you ever heard the term, ‘An eye for an eye’?” Tommy asked. Dream slowly nodded, afraid of what would happen if he didn’t. “Good, then what’s about to happen shouldn’t be too much of a surprise for you.” With that Tommy shoved Dream’s head down, surprising Dream as he tried to push Tommy off once again. He stopped though when he felt white visioning pain. He screamed, trying to get away even harder. He froze when his horn was set in front of his face, blood covering it. That's when he noticed the hot pain he felt on the side of his head, blood trickling into his face.

“TOMMY! STOP!” Tommy punched the other, his angry blue eyes meeting Dream’s teary ones.

“SHUT UP!” Dream squeezed his eyes shut, sniffling as he tried to ignore what was happening. He tried to stop himself from crying when he felt the sword dig into his skull, more blood gushing out as he picked away at his horns. He heard a pop after a while, a sick one that only had more blood poor out. The rest of his horn was set in front of his face, tears blurring his vision now. Eventually, the man passed out from the loss of blood and pain, leaving Tommy to his bloody bliss of ripping the man's skull open.

Three Hours Later. . .

Tommy had dragged Dream far away from Pogtopia, Dumping him someone near the ocean. He didn’t really care where, he didn’t give a fuck if Dream lived at this point. He had left him for dead, why shouldn’t he? He clumsily dropped Dream’s horns next to him, the pieces splattering blood everywhere around them. On top of the horns Tommy sat a not down, smiling as he looked at the scene. He looked at the note, eyes sparkling at the words.

Watch your back, you’re not safe anymore :)
