Chapter 35.
"So you guys are project partners?" Jaxton asked, while he ate his salad.
"Don't try to make a big deal out of this." I said and stabbed mine with my fork.
It was lunch time, we were at our regular table in the Cafeteria, doing what every student does. Spill tea.
"I'm not, I just asked." he said as he chewed.
"I can't believe I got paired with him."
"Why? I thought you two were starting to become friends."
"You would think that." I rolled my eyes. "I don't know what to do with that boy."
Jaxton just stared at me and I cleared my throat "Anyways, as you know I met with him yesterday and-"
Jaxton squealed and I glared at him.
"Sorry." He cleared his throat and put on a serious face. "Continue."
"Today, he then turned into a jerk. He went back to being the asshole the first time I had a conversation with him."
"Did you do something wrong?"
"No" I shrugged. "Is Henry bipolar?"
"Did Henry ever tell you I was his family doctor?" He replied sarcastically and I just gave him the middle finger. "I just think Cupid's up to something." he shrugged.
"What'd you mean?"
"I mean think about it, you both hate each other but somehow you guys end up together."
"Speak English." I said, still not understanding where he was heading with this.
"You both have crossed paths more times than fate probably destined. You both curse out yourselves but at the end of the day, can't get rid of the other and enjoy each other's company. It's an enemies to lovers troupe."
I sighed. "Jaxton, it—"
"That man beat the crap out of Eric for you. Like bursted lip kinda beat up and he don't like you?"
"I fought Vaughn for you, it don't mean I wanted to fuck him."
"Well, true. But still, I think you both should fuck."
"Ew" I was totally irritated which made Jax sigh in frustration. "Not gonna happen, plus he's fucking straight."
"He fucking kissed you three times."
"I'm not gonna be the one to force him out of the closet or whatever. He said he's straight then he is. Besides, haven't you heard of gay for pay?"
"What's that?"
"Straight men who would fuck gay men for money? Also, there are even straight pornstars who do that as well, so not everyone is gay."
"Are you sure about Henry though?"
I couldn't answer that, I knew those kisses definitely meant more to me. They weren't just normal kisses because they stupidly gave me scorpions in my stomach.
"Cat's got your tongue?" He smirked.
"You know what? Shut the fuck up before I stab you."
"I have heard about six girls talk about him today. That cunt."
"Seriously what's your deal with him?"
"I told you already, he's bad news."
"I get you both were rivals, but not all rivals are bad. Take Raven for example, she's an amazing person but to others she's the devil."
"You mean the same Raven who we no longer friends with?"
"Ah! You remember her." Jaxton grinned.
It was then we saw Raven walking side by side with Johnathan. She was laughing at something he had said and was definitely flirting back with him.
"Oh, looks like she's got herself a man."
I grimaced in disgust. "We need to warn her."
"Dylan, don't you think you're overreacting? Raven can take care of herself."
"You don't know Johnathan. He's worse than Eric, and we all know how bad Eric was and how far he would go to get rid of someone and to get what he wants. Johnathan doesn't think about the consequences like Eric does, he uses people, every time." I said while staring at him.
"I guess there's more to that innocent face."
"You have no idea. Some people feel bad after they have committed a crime, right? To show they have emotions. He's not the same."
We looked at him for the longest as we spoke about him
"Is he gay or straight cause I'm like confused."
"That's your problem now?" I turned my gaze to Jaxton.
"Few hours ago, he winked at me and was making flirty comments and now he's all over Raven. I'm allowed to be confused."
"Johnathan falls for everything."
"So he's pansexual?"
"Or a whore." I shrugged. "Calling him pansexual would be an insult to all pansexuals."
Jaxton laughed and shook his head at me. "You're something else."
"Can i sit here?" We both turned to the voice, and saw Christian smiling while holding his tray.
"Shouldn't you be sitting with your fellow boys?" I smiled back at him.
"You're my friends too, so I will sit with you." He winked at me as he sat.
"How was the practical?" Jax asked.
"It was easy."
I scoffed. "You're just saying that cause you're smart."
"Maybe." He grinned and looked at Jaxton. "So Jax, have they....given you back your spot at your club?"
Jax gave a sad sigh and looked away. "Nope. Not sure if they will."
"That's really fucked up." I frowned. "Isn't the club to support people? And the first thing they do is kick you out of your own club cause you had an affair with a thirty year old man."
"Twenty six." he corrected.
"A twenty six year old man." I rephrased. "Not fair"
"It doesn't matter now, Dylan. I'll just stick to my studies and my music."
"Ah! The great singer." Christian said and i looked at him.
"How'd you know he sings?"
"Jaxton? I'm sure everyone knows." Christian chuckled. "Second grade, he sang the beauty and the beast theme song and it was just too perfect."
"Stop!! That was years ago." Jaxton blushed.
"I wish I had been here to hear it." I smiled.
"I'm turning red guys, stop."
He really was starting to turn red.
"What are we talking about?" A very familiar annoying voice asked from behind me and my smile dropped.
"Johnathan......hey." Jaxton looked at me and back at him with a fake smile.
Fuck.
"Can I sit here?" He asked, and I immediately turned to him with a smile.
"N-"
"Sure." Christian shrugged and I shot him a dirty look.
"Uh oh." Jaxton muttered.
Is he kidding me?
"Thanks, bro." Johnathan said and placed his tray in between Christian and mine. "Could you scoot please?" He smiled at christian.
"S-sure." Christian shrugged and moved for him to sit, and he sat, right beside me.
Jaxton patted the spot beside him and Christian moved to sit right next to him.
"I guess we should introduce ourselves, huh?" Johnathan said.
"Not to unimportant people, no." I flashed him a smile.
"It is so good to see you again, Dylan." Johnathan said, smiling at me. "I thought I would never see you again."
"I thought so too. And when I saw the clouds suddenly get dark this morning, I wish I had put two and two together, of course you'd appear." I tilted my head to the side, still smiling.
"S-So Johnathan, uh...how do you like the school so far, and Eastwood?" Jaxton interjected.
Johnathan turned to him and smiled. "I've been here for just two days and I already hated it cause you know, being new sucks and this place looked a bit boring and isn't like Seattle. It's the best if you ask me, but maybe I haven't explored here enough."
"Isn't that where you're from?" Christian asked curiously and I looked up at him and gave him a nod.
"Yeah, I am."
"Him?" Johnathan pointed at me. "We both went to the same high school, we were an unstoppable duo, right, Dylan." Johnathan said and looked at me, grinning.
I said nothing.
"Really? You guys were friends?" Christian asked getting interested, while I just wanted him to stop asking.
"Friends?" Johnathan chuckled and looked at me. "Were we just friends, Dylan?"
I looked at him. "We were close."
"Hmm. Right."
"That's....Cool. I'm Christian."
You're making a big mistake, Christian.
"Johnathan. You seem like a cool dude, Christian."
Christian chuckled slightly. "Thanks."
The boys shook hands.
"Didn't he ever mention me?" Johnathan pouted.
"N-No." Christian gave an awkward chuckle. "Not that I know of."
"Well, I'll tell you a little story about us." Lucifer grinned.
"Um, Johnathan." Jaxton cut in. "You didn't tell us if you liked the school? I need your feedback for a r-report."
Johnathan looked at him and nodded. "Oh, Eastwood High is an amazing place. I mean there are so many different people here and the fun part is, I get to meet an old friend." He said and smiled at me. "I really think I am gonna like it here after all. There is so much work to be done, and this place just feels right for me."
"That's....good." Jaxton replied, awkwardly.
"Oh, who is that hottie over there, looking like a million bucks?" Johnathan asked, resting his jaw on his hand. We all turned to look, and there he was. Henry, and beside him was Zach.
I gulped.
"He looks like a catch." Johnathan chuckled. I just sat there, uneasy.
"That's Henry, captain of the football team and literally the god of Eastwood high." Christian gave out the details and for the first time I fantasized about slamming his head on the desk.
"God is a bit too dramatic, don't you think?" Jax said.
"He's so fucking hot." Johnathan said.
Christian nodded. "That he is. He's the guy everyone wants to be or date, but they also wouldn't wanna cross him."
"I see why" he smirked. "Is he gay?"
"He's not. He's a hundred and one percent straight."
At that moment, all I felt was relief.
Johnathan turned to look at me, while I just stared back at him.
"I have missed you." He muttered.
"Go back home, you sick fuck." I muttered back.
Johnathan smiled. "You know, Seattle has been a crazy without you, my little storm."
I smirked at him. "And I was having the best time of my life away from you."
"Well, now you'll have a better one, now that I am here." He smirked. "And don't worry. I might have called the Henry boy, cute. But, we all know no one is as hot as you are in my eyes." He said and winked at me.
"Get away from me, Nathan."
"Yes, Stormie." He winked and looked back at Christian and Jaxton.
"So, please tell me. This Henry boy, is him and Dylan friends?" He suddenly asked and my heart stopped for a second.
"Dylan and Henry don't get along well." Jaxton said, shaking his head.
"True. They don't exactly see eye to eye, and their fights are always funny and cute to watch, but Henry can be a douchebag sometimes."
"Really? Well if I know Dylan well, he has a thing for douchebags." Johnathan chuckled and I held my fork tightly.
"Do you?" Christian asked me.
I chuckled. "Ignore him."
"I think we are gonna be good friends, Christian." Johnathan smiled at him. "That is if, you're my type to keep."
Christian chuckled. "Thanks, but I am not a toy to be kept." Johnathan just stared. "Anyways, have you tried out for any club here? Maybe the football team?"
Oh my God, stop talking.
"Oh. The football team huh?" Johnathan's eyes were still fixed on Henry and that stupid evil smirk that I knew so well was still on his face. "Is there space for one more on the team?"
"What? You play?"
Johnathan looked away from Henry finally and at Christian. "Captain in my old school, Dylan can testify." He said and nudged my shoulder playfully. "Right?"
I sighed. "Didn't you get kicked out though?"
"Nah! That wasn't me, Dylan."
"We'll talk to coach then."
I looked at Christian, annoyed at him and his stupid mouth.
"Thanks. I would really like to be in the team." Johnathan said.
"And what if you don't get in?" Jaxton questioned.
Johnathan smirked at Jaxton. "I always have my way."
"Plus, you definitely do not want Henry, trust me." Jaxton said with a scoff.
"Why do you say that?" Johnathan's brows knitted, same time as mine.
"Yeah, why?" Christian asked.
We were all confused.
Jaxton looked at me and looked back at Johnathan. "He has a...disease."
I frowned shocked by this update. Whatever happened to "I'm not his family doctor"
"Huh?" Christian's brow rose as he spoke.
"He has...herpes?."
"JAXTON!" Christian yelled out his name and it made him flinch. "Don't lie about such things!"
"I'm not." Jaxton shrugged.
"Well , that ruins it." Johnathan said with a bored look.
I smirked. He didn't seem that interested in Henry anymore.
"Seriously, he does have herpes." Jaxton said in an almost high pitched tone
"I heard about it too." I chimed in. "Saw the reports myself, It's bad." I said acting like I didn't give a shit .
"But you must not say a word." Jaxton said with wide eyes.
"O...Kay" Christian nodded.
"Sure." Johnathan said and ate his pickles.
Ew. I always hated that thing.
"Oh! So I just remembered a story of Dylan and I, and I wanna share it." He beamed
My heart skipped a beat.
"I don't think anyone is interested." I said.
"Chill sweetheart, its a good one." He smiled. "So one time, Dylan and I sneaked out of class. It was on a Friday and we hated the teacher anyways,"
I knew where he was headed with this, I knew that day, I remembered it clearly.
"That's enough Johnathan."
"We had a couple of drinks outside the school, I bought them though. Dylan here didn't want to drink but he had to loosen up, plus he couldn't say no to me."
"That's a s-story for another day, Johnathan."
"I wanna hear." Christian smiled.
I glared at him and he tensed up, finally understanding me. "Um- maybe not."
"If Dylan doesn't want you to say it then I guess you should respect his wish-"
"Trust me Jaxton, you guys will enjoy it," Johnathan cut him off and winked at him. "As I was saying, we started talking and one thing led to another and well,"
"Johnathan, that is enough."
"Shh, Shh. This is the fun part." He smirked. "And then, he kissed me."
I froze.
"I was his very first kiss." He laughed. No one else was laughing at the table, I felt my heart race. This day just couldn't get any worse. "Yup. I was Dylan's first kiss and he wanted more and by more I mean he wanted to take things far but when I refused to obey his wishes, he started a fight with me and tried to ruin me."
I could feel the anger take over.
"Wow." I laughed. "You really are so pathetic, aren't you?"
"What? The story isn't over yet." He still had his psycho smile on.
I stared daggers at him, the memories rushed back into my head. "You know you always do the worst shit because you're a terrible fucking person, and then wonder why nobody loves you. That's because they can tell that you are a pretty shitty person who couldn't even get love from his own parents." I said and his smile slowly faded once I mentioned his parents.
"A pathetic fucking cunt." I huffed and stood up, I grabbed my bag angrily. "See you guys, later." I said and left.
"Dylan." Christian called but I ignored him and just walked away. My heart raced faster and I didn't want to be where this monster was. Henry's eyes were fixed on me and I just didn't want him to see through me like he always did, I didn't even care. I stormed out of the cafeteria real quick, I could hear Jaxton call my name but I just walked faster.
I was so angry.
I was hurt.
I hated him.
* * * * * *
I walked into the house tiredly, a frown fixed on my face.
"I'm in the kitchen!" Mom announced and I walked over to the kitchen. "Hey."
"Hey." I replied and sat on one of the stools, placing my backpack close to the stool. Mom had her hair tied into a rough bun, and had a blue top on with a black mini short. I could smell food, which meant she just finished cooking.
"How was school?"
"The worst."
"What happened?"
"First, why didn't you go to work?"
"I was...tired and plus your dad was coming home today."
"Hmm. You've been taking too much leaves, you're becoming lazy."
"What happened at school?" She ignored me.
I sighed. "He's back, mom." I said as I looked at my hands.
"Who? Eric? Already? I'll transfer you then."
"No. Not him." I looked up and at her. "Johnathan."
Her expression changed. She was super shocked. "No! Wait, he's in your-"
"Yup," I nodded. "He's in my school and it's just the first day and he's already making it hard for me, and he's already telling my friends stuff and..." I gulped once I felt my voice break. "I don't know what to do, Johnathan's just knows how to drain me." I sighed and rubbed my face.
"Hey, sweetie," She walked over to me. "No feeling sad about what that dummy does." She said and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"He has always tried to get to you and he won't stop until he fully drains you. You're not supposed to let him get to you, you shouldn't give him the green card. Johnathan is as bad as his mother and as horrible as his father, It runs in their blood. I don't know what you did to offend God but he brought Johnathan to Eastwood and you have to deal with it."
"This is Satan's doing, momma."
"Listen here, Johnathan is a jerk and will always be one. The Smith's are awful people and God knows why they're in our town but don't listen to whatever that shithead says okay? You're the better person and you can handle anything and anyone, and hell you've defeated him a thousand times before and you can do it again. Don't let Johnathan get to you. That family is a family of snakes and you know how much I hate his mother and if that serpent does anything to harm my baby, I'll throw his mom off a goddamn rollercoaster and I mean it."
I smiled at her. Mom hated Johnathan's mom, she hated their family. She hated Johnathan like I did and knew what that family was capable of. I remember when mom lost her cool after she found out about Johnathan and his bullied. She marched to their house and complained to them, but his mom was so cool with it and sided with him, mom lost it and took off her earrings, dragged her out of her house by her rich blonde hair and beat the crap out of her. Do you know what a slap from a woman who went through hell, had a baby at sixteen, worked so hard and became a hardass could do to your entire future? Mrs. Smith knows.
"Listen sweetie," Mom held my hands. "The devil only knows few things, to cause chaos and to create pain and he loves to conquer and that's what that child is, the goddamn devil and that's what he's gonna try to do. But you've dealt with this guy before, and you can handle his ass. You know everything he can do, I'm not gonna be the mother who is gonna tell you to stay out of trouble and let that kid bully you and make highschool miserable for you. No." Mom shook her head.
"If he wants fire, show him that the Dexwell's specialty is ice." She said.
I smiled softly at her. "What do I always say, kid? We don't go looking for trouble but if it comes knocking on our door?" She arched her brow at me.
"We don't run." I finished the sentence.
"That's right." She smiled. I pulled her into a hug.
"Thanks mom, you're the best."
"I love you too, sweetie." She hugged me back.
This woman was the best mother, she knew the right words to say to make me feel better. She was perfect. She was the best and I loved her.
"Am I interrupting something?"
We broke the hug at the sound of the voice and turned to see Dad.
"No." Mom shook her head smiling. "Apparently the Smiths are in town. They fucking moved here, can you imagine?."
"You are kidding."
"I wouldn't joke with such tragic news." Mom said and shook her head slowly. "Johnathan goes to Dylan's school and they met today."
"Are you...okay?" Dad asked, looking directing at me.
I looked at him for a second, I wanted to totally ignore him but I had Henry's voice in my head. I smiled and nodded. "Mmhmm. I'm fine. I um...I'll be in my room." I tapped the table and stood up, carrying my backpack.
"Okay sweetie, If you're hungry, I just made Tostada."
"Sure."
"I uh...your mom told me about that boy who pushed you down the stairs at your school, and that's why I took the first flight home."
"That's...good."
"I'm taking this case to court and I want that boy away from you."
"You don't have to."
"I know we don't talk and all but, if anything happens to you, I'm not sure I'd be able to ever forgive myself for not doing anything while I could." He sounded so sincere.
I just looked at him and gave him a smile. "I wanna believe you, I do but...I just can't." I shook my head at him and walked straight up the stairs. I stopped halfway to hear what they were gonna say cause I knew they were gonna say something. I heard footsteps and mom's voice.
"Give him more time, he's getting there."
"At least he spoke to me calmly." Dad chuckled, sadly.
"Come taste these Tostada, I made it the way you like it."
"Ugh. I love you."
Mom giggled.
I found myself smiling and went into my room. I closed the door gently and took out my math homework from my bag, I threw my backpack on my bed and sat on the chair in my room.
Two hours later
I was laying on my bed, doing nothing. I seemed to be doing that these days, just staring at my ceiling and thinking about life, about the bad things in my life and how I wished I would turn the tables. I was currently thinking about Johnathan, that was the only thing I could think of. Johnathan in Eastwood. Why did God hate me so much to bring the person I hated in the whole universe to my town and to my school? I wish I could set him on fire. Not God, Johnathan. I wanted him to burn but I was dead sure, he had his powers from Lucifer. I wouldn't be surprised if I was told Johnathan sold his soul to the devil, I wouldn't be at all.
A knock came on my door, making me sit up.
"Come in."
The door opened and Jaxton walked in with a smile. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked as he walked to me and sat on my bed. "I searched for you when you walked out of the cafeteria, I couldn't find you.
" I um..I needed air." I said, looking down at my knees.
"You were right." Jaxton let out a small chuckle.
I frowned, confused. "How?"
"Johnathan sure is bad news."
"You don't say."
"Stop with the sarcasm." Jaxton huffed. "I saw it clearly today, he wanted us to all know about it. The kiss thing." He looked directly at me. "Almost like he was marking you or something. His eyes were dark, and maybe it's because you already told me he was Voldemort, but I saw it clearly today. He is an arsehole."
"Jaxton, Johnathan lied."
His brows knitted. "What do you mean ?"
"We kissed, yes. He was the first guy I kissed, but I didn't push further. He is the fucking worst, and I let him take control of me back in Seattle. Of my emotions. He is dangerous because he always does what he says and gets what he wants."
"Why does that sound familiar?" Jaxton asked and cocked his brows at me.
"Yeah, you could say we are almost the same. And that, that is what is scary."
"Did you two....like date?"
I looked up at him. "We were what you would call Katherine and Klaus."
"Oh my, that powerful?"
"We did date, yes. And boy, do I regret it."
"Oh..."
"He tried to get in my pants one time, without my fucking consent." I smiled. "It's sick the lengths this boy would go to. Apparently the words no and stop are not in his dictionary."
Jaxton gulped, he looked staggered and I understood why. No one would think Johnathan was capable of that. "Just like Vaughn." He said softly, and I nodded.
I nodded. "Yeah, men are scum."
"They really are." He muttered. "I'm sorry you went through that."
I shrugged. "It's in the past now."
"Did you.. Did you tell your mom?"
I looked at my intertwined fingers and shook my head. "I couldn't tell her about it, cause obviously she doesn't know I'm gay and like I said, you never know what Johnathan might pull out of his sleeves just to get back at you. He is a master manipulator."
"That sounds scary."
"Wait till you get on his bad side."
"You know, maybe coming out to her wouldn't be a bad thing. She's okay with me being gay, I'm sure she'd gonna be okay with you being gay too."
"It's not that easy, Jaxton." I huffed.
Jaxton nodded. "I understand you, whenever you are ready. Tell me what happened with you and Johnathan."
I wanted to tell him, to say everything.
But it was Jaxton, could I really tell him?
"He's just sick and twisted. I wish I could tell you everything now, but I can't."
Jaxton nodded. "I understand."
"His father was running for Mayor, and his mother is Cruella. An actual fucking bitch. Their entire fire is a full time possession, like an exorcism is needed for them."
"All of them?"
"All of them."
"Damn."
"He has done a lot of things you couldn't imagine, and honestly, I am no saint either. But with him? If anyone goes against him, there can only be one winner, and it is him."
"Oh fuck. He really is that bad and scary huh? And a rapist? God. I fear for everyone else who crushes on that pig."
"He makes me angry. He's bad news. He made me do horrible things and although I cannot blame him for my actions, he took advantage of my vulnerability when Isaac had died. He is a monster who fucking hurt me in so many ways, Jaxton. He triggers me."
"I guess I understand you now." Jaxton held my hand.
"No one is safe in Eastwood high, Johnathan's a player. He ruins people, manipulates people, hurts them emotionally, mentally and physically." I shrugged. "He destroys people and make them question themselves, he's the fucking king of chaos. That's exactly his power and none of these sweet people in eastwood high are a match for him. You think Eric and Raven are crazy and evil? Well, fucking meet Johnathan."
Jaxton held my hand. "You are the most bad ass person I know. You're fearless and the strongest, and super tough. You are Dylan Dexwell for fuck sake. No one is a match for you. If you could get Eric suspended, then Johnathan would not be much a problem. He might be twice as bad or five times worse, but you're Eastwood's high Dark Angel and Castle's high White haired wizard. No one is a match for you, and regardless, I have got your back especially with that arsehole."
I looked at him and smiled softly. "Thank you, Jaxton."
"You've got me." He smiled at me and hugged me.
If only he knew.
"Thank you JaxJax."
"You made me feel better when I told you about Vaughn on our first sleepover."
I arched my brow at him. "Which Vaughn? The highschool blonde one you lied about?"
"I only lied about his appearance, Shut up. I'm going to go see Astrid later today, you wanna come?"
"I thought you were there earlier."
"No," he sighed. "I had to tutor a kid who was failing English."
"Who fails English?"
"People. People do." He said and stood up. "So you coming?"
I nodded. "Okay, I mean I should know what she looks like." A smile appeared on my lips.
He smiled back and was about to leave when I asked.
"Herpes?"
He stooped at the door for few seconds and turned. "Can you blame me?"
"Why did you lie about it?"
"I know you like Henry."
I was about to deny when he continued.
"You won't admit it now anyways. I was just saving your man from becoming your enemy's own. Herpes was the only thing I could actually think of to keep that sex freak away for now." He shrugged, defending himself.
I couldn't hold back the laugh. "You know there was no need for that, right?"
"Then you wouldn't have agreed at all. I wonder what reports you saw Mr. Dexwell." He said with his brows furrowed, right before he left my room.
I was smiling like crazy and chuckled. "Stupid."
