Chapter 25
~•Dylan's P.O.V•~
It had been two days since I fell down those stairs, I can't believe I was so clumsy. I haven't gone to school ever since the incident. I remember when I woke up at that same stupid white place that I fear the most. The Hospital. I wanted to leave immediately but mom wasn't having that, anyways I got discharged and my arm broke the more so...good.
After getting rid of the head bandage, something else had to happen and now I have it back on, I had a bad headache for hours and it affected my eyes, I think they call it migraine headache or something like that. It felt so horrible cause I kept crying, not cause I wanted to but I felt like I was gonna get blind and the tears kept falling out , I don't remember anything after the fall until I woke up at the hospital, six hours later.
Its actually worse now cause I can't even move my arm, it stings every time I try and moms always extra careful when changing it cause she knows I'd bite her if it hurt so bad, okay maybe not that but I guess its that motherly thing.
The house was so boring, i was tired and i didn't even do anything. Do you guys ever just stay at home all day and get exhausted even when you got no chores, you're just...tired of being tired? That's how I feel right now.
Jaxton was in school and I miss my best friends. I was right here with my mom alone in this house. She decided to take the week off and even after I told her not to, she said she was considering taking a break anyway and now she has an excuse and plus she's not gonna let me stay here alone, i might just fall down those stairs again.
Tf? The love.
*note, sarcasm*
I walked out of my room and down the stairs in fresh bandages, a blue shirt, black shorts and a bored look. I walked over to mom who was at the kitchen like always except she wasn't cooking this time, she was drinking a red wine and texting whosoever, a plate of chips were right in front of her.
I sat right next to her on one of the kitchen stool, she didn't even notice my presence. Wow. I was staring right at her and her eyes were fixed on her phone, I yawned but she didn't look up. I coughed but nothing and then I got frustrated.
"MOM!" I yelled, startling her. Her phone almost fell off her hands.
"Jesus. You scared me boy" she sighed and let out a breath.
"I've been sitting here for two minutes and you didn't even acknowledge my presence" I rolled my eyes at her. "So much for taking care of me when you're busy texting...."
"Dean."
I frowned. "Hmm?"
"Dean's his name" she said, dropping her phone on the table.
"Yeah. What's his address so I can pay him a visit" I smiled.
"And hear in the news that he was found dead in his apartment?" Mom furrowed her brows and grabbed her glass if wine before snorting. "Yeah. I'll keep it to myself." She said and took a sip from it.
I smiled.
"How's your arm, sweetie?" She asked in concern and took a Chip.
"Oh, the usual. Broken."
"I still don't understand how you could fall down some stairs when there wasn't any banana pill or water on the floor"
I couldn't understand it either, I wasn't that clumsy, I can be many things but I'm always careful, never clumsy or so I thought.
"I don't know." I shrugged. "Maybe mother nature got tired of me and thought 'oh hey, don't you all think it'd be funny to see him roll down the stairs?'" I shrugged lightly.
"Do you blame her? I mean, you must have done something to provoke her" mom shrugged.
My jaw dropped, unbelievable. "Mom. Are you seriously siding with her?"
"Sweetie. I love you so much but sometimes you make me think of murder" she said and beamed. "I've actually thought about killing you a hundred times" she said and ate another potato chips.
"How do you say that to your child?"
"The same way you called your mother ugly."
"I never said that."
"You called me ugly yesterday because I wouldn't let you watch porn on TV." She puckered her brows at me as she turned to the cabinet and took out a bottle of wine.
"It wasn't porn, ma!"
"Mmhmm. I could hear the protagonist scream "harder! Yes!" She said in a bland uninterested tone.
"The world is changing, ma. These things are gonna be on television more and more."
"What? Anal sex?"
"Okay, let's not talk about that anymore."
"Right."
I scoffed as she poured herself a full glass.
Mom smiled and took a sip from her wine while she studied my face. "What's wrong? You look a little...dull"
"I'm bored as hell." I sighed and rested my jaw on my hands.
"Hi bored. I'm Bonnie, nice to meet you" she grinned.
"Mom jokes, huh?"
"Well, you taught me that remember?"
I chuckled. Yeah, I did teach her that. I remember using it once or twice, it was funny the first time but she almost threw her bag at me the second time cause she was tired and I didn't care.
"Well, get busy. Go online and do what you people do." she shrugged
I frowned, confused. "What which people do?"
"Teenagers. Don't you guys watch porn and masturbate like twelve times in a day."
"Oh God! Mom, seriously?" I grimaced. "Filter your words."
She smiled. "No."
"You're lucky you're pretty" I rolled my eyes at her.
"And you're lucky I'm not with a spatula right now. I'd have to slap put your eyeballs out with them." she said and ended it with a smile.
"I'm your seventeen year old son, you creature." I stated.
"And I am a thirty two year old woman, and still got life to live" she retorted.
I just looked at her for a bit
"You know maybe you should quit that job of yours and try something else." I shrugged.
"Like what?" She chuckled.
"Something you love." I shrugged.
"Who is gonna hire a girl who didn't finish college?"
"You could still go, mom." I smiled. "You are still young and beautiful and still have a lot of years to live. You could finish up, get a degree and a good job."
She smiled at me and placed her hand on me giving it a squeeze. "I love how much you care for me sweetie but that time is gone. I love my job and I get paid well. We own one of the biggest restaurants and they'll never fire me." She chuckled. "Over their dead body cause if they tried. No, seriously. There would be a dead body."
I smiled.
"Besides. I don't want to work an office job or whatever. I like to cook, i would have loved to finish college, but meh. I like to cook, and I wanna be a full time chef." She shrugged.
"Then take online courses. Do it!"
She bit her bottom lip as if thinking about it. "You think i could?"
I nodded. "I know you can, momma."
She smiled. "I'll consider."
"You better."
The door opened making us turn our heads towards it and Jaxton walked in, I grinned and stood up happily. "Oh thank God, you're back" I said and walked over to him, giving him a hug.
"Oh. Uh...you seem overly happy to see me." He said with a surprised expression.
"Of course, bitch. You're my favourite person."
"He really doesn't care about you, he's just bored." Mom said and i glared at her.
"Ah! I see." Jaxton chuckled.
"Hey, I'm really sorry this happened to you, I really don't know what they were thinking." Mom said to me as Jaxton made his way towards us
I looked down at my arm and back at her. "I do know something though."
She frowned. "What?"
"Jaxton asked me about Isaac. That I remember." I said and furrowed my brows at her. "And, I didn't tell him." I shrugged.
She gulped.
"So, the only other person who could have done that, is you or your husband, and i doubt it is your husband. So, then it leaves you."
"Dylan,"
"I'm trying to understand why you would tell my friend a story that is not their business though." I said. "I love you, I really do, but you were wrong to speak to him about Isaac."
"I am sorry, I just....I just mentioned it to him cause I wasn't in my right senses. And I know I shouldn't have, I know, but I wanted him to not think you are a sad asshole."
"But I am an asshole. Why let anyone think otherwise so they don't get shocked when I become my asshole self."
"I am sorry. I am also still dealing with that." She said, her eyes suddenly filled with sadness. "And sometimes its nice having someone listen."
Now i felt terrible.
I looked down at my hands. "Ma, I—"
"Hey, Bonnie" Jaxton suddenly appeared.
Mom forced a smile on her face and turned to Jaxton. "Hey, baby. How was school today?"
"Same old." He shrugged. "Boring without Dylan in it."
"Aw!" I pouted. "See why I needed to go to school." I turned to look at my mom.
"Oh, shut up." She turned to Jaxton. "Well now you're here. I've got to go to the saloon. I need to do something different, it's time for a new makeover." she said as she patted her hair. "You boys be good, okay?. I'll be back in an hour or two, if anything goes wrong, call me." She said as she headed for the door.
"Yes, mom" I replied
"No, I'm not talking to you. You won't call me even if the house was burning down cause you'd think you can fix it and I can't have that." She said and turned her gaze to Jaxton.
"It didn't burn down!"
"Has this ever..happened?" Jaxton asked, knitting his brows and looking at both of us.
"Oh, yes. Dylan almost burnt down our house." She answered, nodding.
"Almost!! That was years ago. I was just a little kid who didn't know so much back then." I defended myself.
"What? That was four months ago!" She retorted.
"Go on, Bonnie. I'll be here." Jaxton said, in-between laughs.
"I'm worried of course, I've got a wild dog in the house."
"Excuse you?" I furrowed my brows at her. "Shouldn't you be out of here and doing something with yourself?"
"I should have put you up for adoption." She said as she walked out, closing the door behind her.
"Can you believe her." I said in a high tone. "Ugh" I rolled my eyes and walked over to the couch. "She's such a bitch like ninety eight percent of the time" I pouted.
Jaxton chuckled and began going through his backpack. "Your mom is cool, and not everyone has a mother who has that kind of relationship with their child. Trust me, she's super amazing." He beamed and took out a rose.
I gasped. "Jaxton has an admirer?" A smile spread across my lips
"Ew no. Its not for me, it's for you." He said and handed the single rose to me and then a card.
My smile slowly faded. "Me? Someone got me a rose? I don't like roses but who was it?"
"Your admirer..Christian" he smiled. "I wanna know what it says." He said and bounced on the couch I sat on, sitting next to me.
"Christian got this for me?"
"Mmhmm. He said he didn't know if to call you or not and he knew you were resting and so, that's his gift. Read the card because I wanted to pry so much but had to wait till I got home." He pointed at it and I looked at it.
"Well this really sucks, you're ill, missed you in school. Now i wish i had a magic wand with which I can call you up from your sick bed and get you ice cream; but I don't, so I pray for you every time to get well soon and come back."
"I smiled while Jaxton squealed in excitement. "I ship it" he beamed.
"Ship what?"
"T-"
"Baby, don't even finish that sentence before I drag your ass with one hand." I cut him off.
"But come on, he's cute."
"Then why didn't you date him when you had the chance?"
"Excuse me?" Jaxton frowned.
I snorted. "Please. You both probably tried something in the past and it didn't work out. I can bet you both have kissed before."
"Christian and I are just friends."
I nodded. "I know. But you two have kissed more than once, yes?" I looked up from the card and at him.
Jaxton's face turned red as he struggled for words. "F-Ffffirst of all-"
"It's fine. I'm not that stupid, love. I could sense the little chemistry between you both at the bleachers." I chuckled. "I don't wanna know what happened, so there's no need to talk about it."
Jaxton said nothing.
"Christin's cute, and this letter is cute too." I said with a small smile.
"Do you like him -like him?" Jaxton asked and I snorted, holding back a laugh.
"God no. Like him as a friend? Yes. The other thing? Not even close" I said and laughed.
"Well, that sucks. You both would have made a power couple." He said with a smile and stood up. "Also, Henry asked me about you." He said and began heading to the kitchen.
"What? Again?"
I'll pause right there.
So yesterday , Jaxton had told me the same thing and i thought it was a joke. Why was he asking about me though? We don't like each other.
I think.
"Yup. He just asked if you were getting better." He said with a yawn.
"Whatever." I didn't care " I don't know why, but I really hate him for a reason that I don't know of" I said and stood up, there was something that made me hate him so much. "Like I strongly hate that asshole even though we kissed" I stopped on my heels when I realised what I said, my eyes widen. Shit. Jaxton stopped walking the same time I did and I knew I was done for.
Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Oh My Fucking Gad. How could I make such a mistake? Ugh.
Jaxton slowly turned, his mouth was opened in shock and his eyes shoot out. "WHAT. THE. FUCK?"
"Its...not what you th-think. It was a mistake. That's not what I wanted to say" I chuckled nervously. "I wanted to s-say. We almost...kissed by accident silly"
"Don't you dare lie to me Dylan Dexwell." He said as he rapidly walked up to me. "You fucking kissed HENRY?"
"D-Dont shout it" I sighed.
"No one's here!!"
I sighed. "Okay fine, I did. But it wasn't like....I wanted t—" Jaxton interrupted me with a squeal.
"OMGb WHAT? WHEN? HOW? WHY DON'T I KNOW?" he gasped. "Does Raven know? She knows, doesn't she?"
"N-No. Okay. Raven doesn't know and it should stay that way, okay?" I sighed. Shit. I should be careful whenever I open my mouth.
"Oh. So...you didn't tell any one of us then? How the fuck did you kiss henry? Is he gay? Was it a mistake? Where was I when this happened? Did you guys like make out after that? Wait. Why does he still act like a douchebag?."
Jaxton was staring me straight in the eye, his attention and focus a hundred percent on me and waiting to hear every detail.
"Jaxton, one question at a fucking time and you get only two questions."
"Okay. S-sorry. I'm just...amazed. It's shocking. You kissed your crush." He squealed excitedly.
"He's not my—"
"But wait. How?"
"Well...Remember Quinn's party?" I furrowed a brow at her.
"Uh uh." He nodded.
"We were trapped in a closet and um...there was no oxygen and so, he decided to help me out and I decided to help him out and we both...did that"
His eyes widen the more, if that makes sense. "SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN?" He shouted , startling me.
"Mmhmm" I scratched the back of my head, trying to be calm
"Oh. My. God. Of course! This is too much. No wonder you came out all hot and I don't mean 'hot' , I mean out of breath kinda hot. You big liar. You said nothing happened! He said and snacked my shoulder gently.
"Ow!" I pouted, I couldn't rub it cause the other hand was a mummy. "I never said nothing happened. I said I was tired of arguing with him inside the closet. Didn't deny anything, you never asked." I shrugged. I clearly remembered.
"Oh My God, Dylan. How could you?" He smacked my shoulder again.
"Stop! That hurts" I smacked his arm.
"Sorry, I'm just pissed that you hid this from me....and Raven."
"I mean, can you really blame me? We might be good friends but we won't say everything, right? Plus, it's Henry. I can't just put him because I can, until he's ready." I shrugged.
"I understand. But don't hide something this big from me again, Dylan!!!!"
"I'm the one who kissed it and you're being all hotheaded like you did, and besides I tried to tell you, you crazy jerk face but there was never a perfect time. Remember Vaughn and then the hospital? Yeah. You were emotionally traumatized by what happened, I couldn't bug you with things like that when there was someone like Vaughn we had to get rid of ." I said innocently, with all sincerity.
Okay so first things first, this was a total lie. I never planned on telling them at all, I'm so sorry I had to use Vaughn as an excuse but the only way to escape from all this, is to use that as an opportunity. A. K. A Vaughn . I mean I'm sorry I brought him up but hey, I'd do anything to save myself. "There was just never a good time and it slipped my mind"
"Oh," his expressed softened. "I guess you're right"
I felt me smile internally.
"How was it?" He grinned sheepishly
"It was okay." I shrugged. "I mean, nothing special."
My spirit, body and soul did not agree with me cause they knew it was a lie and I knew it too.
"So..he's not a good kisser? " he arched his brow.
"He's o.."
"Don't lie to me Dylan."
I sighed . "He is unique. I mean his lips are so soft and he's a good kisser and damn he knows how to use the tongue so well" I grinned.
He gasped. "He used the tongue?"
"Mmhmm" I nodded. "His lips should get him an award. Best kisser to be specific. I mean it's so good and tasty and..ugh"
"Wow. Liked it that much huh?" He had a smile on his face and had his hands folded. I was lost describing the kids and got lost I think.
"No" I gave him a straight face
"What?"
"I was just telling you what you wanted to hear. Now leave me alone. I didn't like the kiss...that much"
Lies.
"Mmhmm" he smirked.
"The most important thing is Raven. You must not tell her. She's gonna make a big deal out of this and I can't have it plus she's gonna be disappointed. I already lied to her about it when she asked." I said staring right at him. "She must not know at all"
"I must not know what?" A voice said from behind us, I gasped in fear the same time as Jaxton and turned, my heart was beating fast.
Raven stood some steps away, her red bag in her hand, she was putting on a red crop top and black leather pants with black heels
"Jesus. HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET IN?" I yelled, holding onto my chest.
"The door wasn't locked and I just walked right in"
"Did you try knocking? People do it, maybe you should try it" I scowled at her.
"I didn't think I shoupd" she shrugged and walked towards us.
"You scared the crap out of us, you red haired psycho" Jaxton said letting out heavy sighs from breathing
Oh God, how much did she hear?
She just beamed and shrugged. "Now, back to my question" her smile disappeared "What shouldn't I know?" She arched her brows.
I looked at Jaxton who also looked my way.
"Well, I guess now we just have to tell her" Jaxton sighed.
"Hmm?" My eyes widen. No.
"I'm waiting" she folded her arms.
"Dylan didn't want you to know that..."
Oh shit. So much for keeping this a secret. I'm so doomed
"...that he's scared of dogs" Jaxton said and fake laughed afterwards. My eyes were still popped out, not out of fear now but of shock. He's so good.
He looked at me still laughing and signaled me with his laugh.
"Y-Yeah. That's what. Damn you Jaxton. She wasn't supposed to know that I was scared of dogs, asshole" I groaned and walked into the kitchen
"Why shouldn't I know?" She said and followed. "Its not like I'll make fun of you for a year or two" she smiled. "Its gonna be forever" she said and sat on the stool mom sat on earlier.
"I hate you" I scowled at her , I was excited that Jaxton kept this but I dare not show it .
Jaxton winked at me from behind Raven and I smiled halfway at him so killer frost here won't notice.
"Did you pass Henry's message to Dylan?" Raven turned and asked Jaxton.
The mention of his name made my heart skip a beat.
"Y-Yeah I did. He doesn't c-care"
She frowned and looked back at me. "You do know that he carried you to the nurses office right? I mean I hate the guy but he did good for once"
"He did what?" I chuckled finding this as a funny, it was definitely a joke right? There was no way henry carried me to the nurse's office.
"Yeah. He did carry you to the nurses office after you fell" Jaxton said and walked towards the stool next to raven and sat on it.
I frowned, this was confusing.
"Don't you remember?" Raven asked.
"After I fell, it all...went black. Everything blacked out, I don't remember anything, I just heard you guys call my name and I was in so much pain but that's it" I shrugged. He really did huh?
~Later that day~
We were all sitting at the kitchen, all talking about wonder woman. Unfortunately for me, I had not watched it and these best friends of mine already did. Raven had seen it with her brother in the cinemas days ago and Jaxton's 'friends' had asked him to tag along and he did and so he watched it and I was left. It'd been what? A week since wonder woman was out and I still haven't seen it. My best friends were trying to give me spoilers and God knows how much I hate spoilers. *sighs*
I was able to make them talk about gal gadot herself and not the movie and we all started talking about how much of a princess she was. I love her, I adore her. She's so beautiful, no...gorgeously stunning.
"Did you know she is from Israel?" Jaxton asked and I snorted.
"I studied her. After I watched the keeping up with the Joneses, I was like ugggh yes. She was a total badass. " I chuckled.
"I bet you didn't know she was in fast and furious" Raven smirked.
My jaw dropped. "No. Way. I would have known"
"The fourth part" she wiggled her brows.
"How DID I NOT KNOW?" Jaxton yelled
"Oh my God. She was? I have to watch it again. I mean I've watched all seven of them" I said in a high tone.
Raven gasped. "The Eight part is gonna be out soon"
"The fate and the furious" I grinned sheepishly.
"I have to see it at the cinemas"
"If I dont see it at the cinemas, I'm gonna kill myself but..if you both see it without me. I'll kill you" I smirked at them and they all didn't say a word.
"You can be scary sometimes" Jaxton muttered and just then the door opened and I heard heels clicking.
"She's home" I said and stood up, they all did as well and I walked over to say hi to her. "Hey mom, you said you would be gone for just one or two-what in the world" I stopped walking once I saw her.
"So..how do I look?" She asked with a grin.
Mom had changed her hair color, she had fully gone grey and damn it fit her perfectly, she was really beautiful with it.
"You. Are. Gorgeous" I chuckled.
"Oh. My. God" Raven exclaimed once she saw mom. "Mrs. Dexwell, you look...wow"
"Thank you" she beamed.
"Woah. Bonnie, I have to say, grey hair makes you look younger" jaxton chuckled.
Mom laughed and flipped her hair. "Thanks you Jaxton. I'm sorry I came home late" she said with a sigh.
"You're forgiven" I smiled at her. She was really digging the grey hair. It suit her so much.
Ugh. I need a shower" mom said and began walking upstairs. We all just stared at her as she left.
"How is it that your mother is just so gorgeous" Raven grunted.
"Runs in the blood" I beamed and walked to the couch in the living room
"Alright guys. I gotta go" Raven said and went over to pick her purse.
"Already?" Jaxton furrowed his brows as he asked that question.
"Yeah. I am really enjoying making them feel comfortable....for now. Tomorrow? Everyone's gonna know what those sneaky bitches have been up to. " she smirked "Take care boys" she said and with that, she was out the door.
"You think she heard anything about Henry?" Jaxton asked, staring at the door.
"No. I don't think so" I replied, also staring at the door from where I sat and at the moment, we both let out a sigh.
Thank Goodness.
"You know, I didn't think you'd be able to...lie properly but you did a good job covering up for me" I beamed.
"I'm not a liar"
"Nope" I shook my head. "You're not a liar honey. You're one pretty little liar that cannot be suspected of anything"
"Shut up twerp." He said with a smile he tried to hide and walked upstairs.
"That hurt by the way" I said and he gave me the middle finger while he just went up, I chuckled afterwards and took out my phone to call Christian. I've got to say thank you for the card right?
