CHAPTER 124.
MONDAY
"If i asked your friends to describe you, Mr. Dexwell, what would they say?"
I looked up at her and faked a smile, putting my shaking hands on my leg. "How my friends would describe me?" I huffed. "I guess you could say they would say i was—"
I furrowed my brows at her. "Determined. Focused. Goal driven."
Laurel smiled as she continued to write on her notepad. I looked at the notes and then at my hands. "They would also say other things," I said and she looked up at me with a cock brow.
"Like what?"
I smiled this time, for real. "Manipulative."

FRIDAY
10: 54pm
"Dylan, Dylan, breathe!!"
"I can't!! I can't!!!" I said as I let out rapid breaths through my mouth and held onto Henry's shirt tight.
"Dylan, look at me, look at me." Henry said, his hands on my shoulders. "Dylan."
"H-Henry." I breathed as my vision began to get blurry.
"Dylan! Oh my God! What happened?" Mom asked as she and Dad ran towards me, Dad was holding Sofía while mom carried Davina.
"What happened?" Dad asked as they knelt beside me.
"I-I don't know, he's having a panic attack." Henry said in a panicking tone.
"Dylan? Hey, hey, hey!!" I heard Jon say as he held me.
Everyone was talking but I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't hear them, i felt so suffocated.
"Dylan, hey, hey, look at me." Dad said as he placed both hands on each side of my face, turning my face so I could look at him. "Breathe."
"I can't!" I yelled as tears ran down my face. "I can't!!!" I cried.
"Jaxton, get me some water." Mom said and with a nod, he ran.
"Babe, babe, please calm down."
"I can't! I can't! I caaaaannnttttt!!!!!" I screamed.
****
7:03AM
"Good morning, Mrs. Ashcroft." I greeted as I walked to the kitchen where she was, with a smile i made my way to the fridge, taking out a bottle of water.
"Sleep well?"
"Not exactly, i guess I'm just stressed with everything, thankfully it ends today." I told her with a smile as i walked over to the stool and sat down. "And i have never gotten ready for school by this time, it seems too early but then Henry has to go early." I said and she chuckled.
"Well it does end today and you all need rest." She said as she fixed me a plate of bacon and eggs.
"Smells delicious, thank you." I said with a smile, once she placed it infront of me.
"Where's Henry?" She questioned.
"I'm here." Henry replied as he made his way towards us. "Good morning." He smiled at her and sat beside me.
"Excited for today?"
Henry shrugged. "Just glad i get to sleep for long after today ." He said and i smiled.
"Nervous?" She asked with a cocked brow.
Henry shook his head. "Not at all."
"As he shouldn't be." I smiled and held his hand in mine.
Mrs. Ashcroft fixed her son a plate as well and while we ate, she excused herself and went upstairs.
"So, i bet I'll see you in that crazy crowd cheering me." Henry said as he turned to me while he ate.
I snorted. "You better! I didn't make the 'my boyfriend is the best' sign for nothing."
Henry laughed. "You really made that?"
I chuckled. "No. What am i? Ten?"
"Fuck you." He said as he pushed my face slightly while i chuckled.
"But don't worry, you'll be able to see me." I told him. "But, I won't be there the entire two hours because as you know, Jaxton's great Romeo and Romeo play is today and i also have to support him."
"Oh, that is true."
"Yup. And so, I'll stay one hour for you and then an one hour for my brother since his play is also like two hours." I shrugged. "I gave it enough thought and that way i can be there for both of you and all my friends as well because the only thing Dylan Dexwell will be doing tomorrow is cheering. I have to cheer for you, Zach, Jon, Bruce and even when Raven, Gwen and dare i say, Quinn, when they do their cheerleading routine and then once that is done, I'll rush over to cheer my brother because he will be so mad and probably disown me if I don't show up."
Henry chuckled. "Babe, I understand and once I'm done with the game, I'll head over to the auditorium to be there for Jaxton as well, his play does start late right?"
"Yeah, i think eight thirty? I hope everyone does turn up because apparently their play is the same day as yours." I flashed him a smile.
"Well, i do know for a fact that after the game, i will be there immediately."
"I know, because if you don't show up, I'll kick your ass."
"Mmhmm, yes, yes, I know." He said and as he leaned in to kiss me, his mom came rushing.
"Okay, okay, boys. It is time to go before you both end up going late. I made you both lunch and i will see you both later, at the game." Mrs. Ashcroft said and i quickly rushed my food.
"Yes, mom." Henry got up and kissed his mother's cheek before picking up his backpack. I quickly dropped our plates at the sink and picked up my own backpack.
"Okay, Catherine, I'll see you later and do not be late to the game." I told her.
"I would never, i get to watch my son and that is a gift." She said and i smiled.
"Good. Now, bye." I waved at her as Henry pulled me along with him and out the house.
I rode with Henry to school, of course I didn't take my car because i knew i would end up leaving with him, so i left the keys for Jaxton because i knew he would be in a haste this morning, just like Henry was.
"So, will your parents come watch me?" Henry asked.
I nodded. "Of course, for like....twenty five minutes because they have another son." I replied him and he laughed.
"I was wondering how you would answer that question." He said as he drove.
"So a test question, i mean, i only said the truth." I shrugged.
***
Henry and i got to school and of course it was early, we had suddenly become those early students. There were a lot of students running around, everyone was doing something, it reminded me of my first Eastwood game attendance.
"So, I'll see you at lunch?" Henry asked as he turned to me, our hands intertwined.
"Yes, i will see you at lunch and you better not be late."
"I won't," he smirked. "Besides, we have some classes together today."
"Just one, or is it two?"
Henry chuckled and planted a kiss on my lips. "Take care."
"You too, now go." I told him and he went away.
With a smile on my face, i began making my way into the school doors when I felt a hand on my shoulder, i looked to my left to see Jon smiling at me.
"Good morning, Dylan."
"Jon, shouldn't you be at practice?" I asked him.
"I'm on my way there, I just saw you and had to say hi." He said as we stopped walking and turned to face each other.
"Well, hi. Now, go and we'll talk later or coach will bench you today of all days."
Jon snorted. "He wouldn't do that." He said and i cocked my brow at him. "He wouldn't."
"You wanna bet?"
"Shit. I'll talk to you later." He said as he ran off while i chuckled.
"Dylan, Dylan, Dylan!!" A girl ran to me, I recognised her, she was one of the students in the council.
"Becca, what's up?"
"We have a situation." She said and bit her bottom lip nervously.
"What's wrong?"
"It is about the posters, well some of it."
I frowned. "What about them?" I asked and she remained quiet. "Becca, i swear to God if you do not answer me, i will pull out your organs and sell them."
Becca swallowed hard. "Well, Carl, he....sort of ruined half."
My eyes widen. "What?"
"He said it was his little brother who—"
"Oh, he is so fucking dead, i swear on his ancestors." I snarled. "Take me to him." I said as i walked ahead angrily.
****
"Hey," Tyler called as he walked up to me once the bell rang as i packed my things while the other students began to leave the class.
"Hey, Ty, what's up?"
"Okay, so guess what?" Tyler said with a grin.
I frowned. "Um, you are...pregnant?" I asked as i threw my backpack over my shoulder.
Tyler's eyes widen. "What? N-No, I'm not pregnant. Dylan, seriously?" He gave me a disappointed look.
"Oh, I'm sorry, wait, uh..." i tapped my chin as i gave it a thought. "Oh!!" I looked at him with a grin. "You have three nipples." I said as we walked out of class.
Tyler gave a tired sigh. "You are so tiring." He said and I laughed.
"Just spit it out, kid." I told him as he walked.
Tyler smiled and held his book against his chest. "Sooooo, yesterday, i got a letter." He grinned.
"A letter? From....?"
"Stanford!" He said and i gasped, turning to him instantly with wide eyes.
"Tyler!! Wait!! You are joking!"
Tyler giggled. "I'm not!!" He said in an excited tone. "I got in!!"
"Oh my God! I am happy for you, congratulations." I hugged him.
"Thanks!" He beamed. "I did have an interview with them two weeks ago and it was so early, i was surprised but they were so pleased with my college application that they wanted to meet me and i was so fucking nervous but just like Christian said i would nail it, I did." He smiled.
"Oh my God, Tyler, i am so so happy for you."
"Thanks!" Ty grinned like a child. I was really happy for him, he had gotten his letter and had his future guaranteed already, he was so happy and his eyes sparkled so bright.
"Oh Ty, you are gonna make a change in this motherfucking world."
"You think?"
"Bitch, I know." I said and threw an arm over his shoulder while he chuckled.
"Christian was so damn happy for me, he wouldn't stop spinning me around and then took me out." Tyler said, still smiling. "Apart from my family and my boyfriend and his family knowing, you are the next important person in line who I thought should know." He said and i pouted.
"Aw, Tyler, that is really sweet of you. But you really gotta put me a little higher because i am more important than Christian."
Tyler snorted. "You would think so."
"Bitch, I made Tristian happen so shut the fuck up." I said and he giggled. "Tyler, i am proud of you, really."
"I know you are. You've only ever wanted the best for me, which is why you are the best thing that ever happened to me. Ever since you walked into those doors of Eastwood high, all you've done is save me." Tyler said and we both stopped walking and turned to each other. "I wish i could repay you somehow for helping me and being there for me and then giving me the happiness i thought I didn't deserve, a guy I didn't think i could ever have something with. Christian. Thank you, Dylan."
I smiled at him. "Come here, Ty." I hugged him tight. "I'll always be here for you no matter what, so don't think twice before you ask for my help, okay?"
Tyler chuckled. "Yes, yes, you are like the big brother everybody needs." He said as he locked his arm with mine and we continued walking. "You better still call me when we all leave for college."
"I will. And you better not forget me as well."
"I wouldn't dare."
"Dylan." Principal Evans called from down the hall. "A word? It's important." He said and I nodded.
"I will see you later." I told Tyler.
Ty nodded. "Sure."
"And congratulations again."
"Thanks, Dylan." He smiled.
I patted his shoulder and followed Principal Evans to his office, once we got in, i closed the door behind me.
"So, how are you?" Principal Evans asked as he sat down.
"I'm good, great actually." I said as i sat across him. "Tyler already got in to Stanford, I'm happy for him, and proud."
"Well, the kid is super smart."
"He is•
"Speaking about applications and admissions," he cleared his throat. "You know how the scouts are coming in tonight to watch the match and the boys?"
I nodded. "Yeah, and also to watch the play."
Principal Evans nodded. "Yes. Well, did you get a email or call from Harvard yet?"
I cleared my throat. "Um, no, no, I haven't, but it is still early, right?"
"No." He replied. "Well, I did get a call about one of my students who applied into Harvard, his name happens to be Dylan Dexwell."
My eyes widen. "Wait, they called the school?"
He nodded. "Mmhmm, apparently they didn't get a feedback from you after sending you an email. Did you even check your emails?" Principal Evans asked, cocking a brow at me.
I pouted. "I....I haven't."
"Jesus, Dylan. You don't expect them to appear at your front door, do you?"
"Yeah?"
He gave me a look.
"No. I meant no." I shook my head. "Well, fuck!" I was indeed gobsmacked. Why hadn't i been checking my email? I guess i thought I wouldn't need an interview? Not all schools do that but of course my email is important at this moment, what is wrong with me?
"Anyways, they will be here on Monday to have an interview with you and talk to you more, i guess your college application did make them consider you." Principal Evans said with a smile.
"Wait, wait a damn minute! Someone from Harvard is....is coming to talk to me....on....on Monday?! Right here?!" I questioned.
Principal Evans nodded with a smile. "You didn't think it was possible?"
"I don't...i don't know. I'm surprised as hell! Oh my God! Oh my God! Wow, i...i am speechless." I chuckled. "T-Thank you so much!"
"For?"
"Telling me. I mean, it's not like you had a choice but still, thank you."
"Um, you are.....welcome, i guess." He frowned.
"They'll probably give you a call this weekend, so, be with your phone all the time." He said and i nodded.
"I will. Thank you again, Principal Evans." I smiled at him as i got up. "I'm gonna go now, I'll see you at the game."
"You too, kid."
I walked out of his office, a smile on his face. Was i nervous? A little, just a little. I was more excited than nervous because i had always been worried I wouldn't get in but would you look at that, they wanted to meet with me. Ha! In your face, whosoever is behind the evil shits that happen in my life.
"Hey." Jaxton appeared beside me the second i walked out of the principal's office, we both began walking down the hall together . "Got into trouble?" He gasped loudly. "Did they find the body?"
I laughed. "Fuck you, jaxton, and no, principal Evans just wanted me to know that I'm having an interview on Monday." I told him with a grin.
"Wait!" Jaxton's eyes widen. "Harvard?"
I nodded. "Yes. Yes. Yes!!" I squealed.
"Oh my God, Dylan. I am so happy for you!"
"Well, hopefully the interview goes well."
"It most certainly will." Jax assured me. "You are Dylan fucking Dexwell, they'll be crazy if they say no to you." He said as he nudged me.
I smiled. "You know you're the best?"
"Yeah, i do. And i am so fucking nervous about tonight, you'll come, right?"
"Of course, love." I held his hand. "I'll be there after an hour with Henry, the game is also today."
"I wonder why they let that happen, I can't watch my best friends play and they won't watch my play from the beginning, really sucks." Jaxton pouted.
"I know." I sighed. "But they'll finish thirty minutes before your play so they'll still watch you.....well the ending." I shrugged.
"That's still something."
"Hey, did you know college scouts are called that because they are only for sports?"
Jaxton nodded. "I did. I started calling them scouts because you started calling them scouts and i got used to it." He shrugged.
"That is messed up."
"It is." He snickered. "Hey! Hey! Veronica!!" Jaxton yelled out to a girl carrying a gigantic red heart, she was walking with a boy who was also carrying another heart. Veronica and the boy turned to Jaxton and they both smiled.
"Hey, Jaxton." She smiled as we made our way towards them, once she saw me her smile grew bigger. "D-Dylan, hi, hi, i uh, I'm Veronica."
"Oh, thanks for making it clear, I didn't hear Jaxton the first time." I said and Jaxton elbowed me gently.
Veronica nervously laugh. "Yeah, ha! Uh, V-Veronica Simone, i uh, I'm a junior, actually I graduate next year and uh, i just....Jaxton is my friend, yeah, and we were both in drama class. N-Not Jaxton and i, i mean Jaxton and i are both in drama class but like you and i were in drama class before you left."
"Jesus, V. You are embarrassing yourself." The dark haired boy muttered.
"Well, it is....nice to meet you, Veronica. You in the play?"
"Mmhmm. I am, i am in the play, my role isn't as big as Jaxton but i am in the play and Jaxton is such an amazing actor, he nails the role so well, but so do i but Jaxton is better, he's like everyone's dad cause he takes care of all of us and i hope you'll come to the play."
"Of course, Jaxton's my brother, I have to be there."
Veronica grinned. "Great then, that would be amazing, i would be so honoured, i mean we will be so h-honoured to...to h-have you t-there." She stuttered nervously.
I just nodded. "Yeah, sure." I turned to Jaxton. "I'm gonna go now before she dies of nervousness or embarrassment." I told him.
"Or intimidation."
"I feel like she's a beliber." I whispered to him. "Anyways, see you guys later. Bye, Veronica, bye....boy."
"The name's Ian." He smiled.
"Okay, Ian." I flashed him a smile and walked away.
"Oh my God, you are such an embarrassment." I heard Ian say.
"Shut up, i got so nervous." Veronica replied and i smirked.
****
"You know, I think i should have been in the play tonight, if it wasn't for the game, I definitely would be in the drama." Jon said and Gwen snorted.
"You can't act to save your life." Gwen said and Jon shook his head.
"Nuh uh, did y'all forget how i fooled Johnathan? That was an A."
"True. He was so good, Raven believed." I said, pointing at her.
We were all in the cafeteria, at our table. I had Jaxton at my left and Henry at my right, Zach also sat beside Henry while Jon, Gwen and Raven sat across the table.
"But you can't sing and it's a musical, we all know how bad your vocals are." Jaxton said and Jon gasped.
"Excuse me, I sing like Bruno Mars."
"But he is not a dog." Raven said and i giggled.
"Okay, okay, I'm gonna show you all." Jon cleared his throat.
"Oh God." Jaxton sighed.
Jon began to sing with his terrible voice and when he would pitch and his voice would crack, i would cringe cause i felt it in my soul.
"Okay, okay, honey, that was great." Gwen stopped him.
"Damn," Raven smiled. "Confidence is key, Jon. Just keep the door locked, okay?"
I almost spat out my food, i looked at Henry and he also was shook at Raven's response.
"You nailed it, Jon." Jaxton grinned. "Now, nail yourself next to the wall." Jax said and Raven gave him a high five while Jon gasped.
"You guys are so mean."
"Guys, stop." I chimed in. "Jon, i guess what they meant was you snapped."
Jon smiled. "Thanks, love."
"Now, do your neck next." I added and he instantly threw his spoon at me but i dodged it real quick and it went over my head.
We all laughed. "That was mean, Dylan." Gwen said in between laughs.
"You are lucky i fucking love you, asshole." Jon pouted.
"I love you too, bubba." I said while laughing.
"Hey," Henry called in a low voice while the others talked and i turned to him.
"Hey, you okay?"
He nodded. "Yeah, Zach told me about the interview on Monday?"
"Wow, it really has gone round this table, they didn't even wait for me to tell you first." I said and he chuckled.
"You okay?"
I nodded. "Mmhmm, yeah."
"You sure? Because earlier you walked past me and i called your name three times but you didn't answer because you were thinking."
I frowned deeply. "Wait, what?"
"Mmhmm, before lunch though."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't hear you."
"Oh, I know." Henry nodded. "Something bothering you?" He questioned and i looked at Jaxton and back at him.
"Not here." I whispered to him.
Henry nodded. "Wanna get out of here?"
"Okay," I nodded and turned to the guys. "Hey, y'all. So," I got up. "Henry and I will be right back, there's something we need to take care of."
"Oh my God, are you both horny?" Zach asked as he grimaced.
"Yeah, you wanna join?" I asked him as I held Henry's hand. "You can come if you want."
"No, thank you."
I flashed him a smile as I walked outta the cafeteria with Henry and we both went into an empty class.
"So? What's on your mind?" He asked as he sat on a desk and folded his arms while i walked over to the window and rested on it with a sigh.
"I don't think I'm gonna go to Harvard."
"What? Dylan, I know you'll get in."
"No, that's not the point. I mean....when i wanted to go to Harvard, it was just me and my parents and i knew they could afford it. Jaxton and Sofía are my siblings now and he is also going off to college, Harvard is fucking expensive and I didn't even do any of those scholarship shit and now I don't know what to do. Maybe I should just go to a school that isn't expensive? One of those local colleges? Oh my God, no. I would rather die. But then, i am not selfish and Jaxton also has to go to college, it's been sort of...I don't know, I've been thinking about it since today."
"Dyl, Dyl, come here." Henry said with a small smile and i slowly made my way to him, he spread his legs for me to move closer to him and then he wrapped his arms around me. "Listen, everything will work out, okay? You'll go to Harvard. I can speak to my mom and you know she'll love to help with—"
"No." I cut him off. "Don't even think about it. I couldn't ask her, your mom has done enough for me."
"She would say otherwise because if it wasn't for you, she wouldn't even be here, she'd still be in that hospital." Henry said and I sighed. "Let us help."
"Baby." I placed both my hands on his cheeks. "I cannot ask you and your mom to do that, okay?"
"I'm not even going to college, Dylan, so at least let my mom use my college funds for you, that way something good came out of it."
"No." I shook my head.
"Dyl, stop being so stubborn."
"You know you can still go to college, right?"
"I will go to college,"
My eyes bulged out. "Wait, really?"
"Yes," he nodded. "When i return from the army."
I gave him a disappointed look. "I hate you."
Henry smiled. "I know you are not happy with my decision to not go to college now, but trust me, when i get out, I'll go to college and then Dad's company." Henry shrugged.
"So, when i would be graduating, you would be a freshman."
"And i will have my super hot boyfriend tutor me."
"I don't think you would need my help, you are smart as fuck."
Henry cocked his brow at me. "Well, very true."
I chuckled. "Cocky shit."
"So," he smiled. "Will you?"
"The answer is still—"
"Before you say no," he quickly said, raising a finger. "Think about it."
"But if you are going to college, won't you still need it?"
"Dylan, that would be years from now, I'm sure my father's company isn't dying anytime soon and I'll work if i have to incase it dies." Henry shrugged.
I sighed heavily. "There's no arguing this with you, is there?"
"Nope."
"Well then, let me think about it."
Henry smiled and kissed me. "Now, may we go back to the cafeteria?"
I nodded. "Yes, yes." I said and he stood up. "Wait!!" I pulled him back and he frowned. "Since you call me Dyl by using the first three letters of my name, how about i call you Hen?"
"Don't even think about it." He said and pulled me along with him.
"Asshole." I muttered.
***
6:18pm
"Okay, guys, i am leaving now!!" I said as i ran down the stairs, a blue paint that represented our football team was placed in a straight line below my eyes.
"You'll be at Jaxton's play, right?" Mom asked and I nodded as i picked Sofía up.
"Of course. I'll just spend an hour at the game and return for Jaxton, make sure you all are there on time." I told him as i kissed Sofía's face while she giggled.
"Of course, it starts by 8:30 so we still have enough time." Mom said and i shook my head.
"No, no. That's not how it works, you all have to be there by eight sharp! Eight!! Don't leave by eight! Be there by eight! You know how important this is to him."
"Yes, we do." Dad said from behind me, Davina in his hands. He walked up to mom who had a plate of crackers in front of her.
"Ugh, she's awake?"
Dad chuckled. "She is." He said and turned to me. "We'll be there by eight sharp. So, Mrs. Dexwell, go get ready. I just showered." Dad told her as i put Sofía down since she wanted some biscuit as well.
I walked over to Dad and took Davina from him. "Hi, sunshine. We'll see you at Jaxton's play, right?" I asked her and she slapped me with both hands and although she had baby hands, it still hurt.
I gasped loudly. "Um, ow!"
Mom chortled. "I guess she's already learning the famous Dexwell slap."
"This one's gonna be worse." Dad said while Davina laughed excitedly with no teeth.
Davina put both her hands into her mouth as she looked around with her beautiful blue eyes then it came back to me and with a small baby laugh, she began domestically abusing me by hitting me in the face. I had to report her to child services but then everyone would think i was over reacting.
"You are just the cutest." I said as I kissed her cheek and as i pulled away, she pulled my lip forcefully. "BITCH!!"
"Dylan!!" Mom glared.
"Sorry." I said as i pulled her hand away. "Fucking assaulter." I whispered to her and she threw her hands up and giggled.
I couldn't help but grin. "I love you but i gotta go." I said as i handed her back to Dad.
"So, I will see you all at the play, i gotta go now, my boyfriend's and best friends game starts in an hour, while the cheerleaders take the field for an hour, i think. Which means i gotta be there early for Raven and Gwen and then for my boys. Anyways, I will meet Mrs. Ashcroft at school and I'll make sure to take pictures for you guys."
"Look how much you've changed." Mom said with a smile. "Remember how i had to force you to go the first time?"
I nodded. "Mmhmm, then i had to go to a party and i think that was where i kissed Henry for the first time. Was it? I think so, was that when we had the seven minutes in hell thing or when I left my hoodie with him?" I rhetorically asked as i tried to remember. "Anyways, i can't remember. I'll see y'all later." I said as I quickly made my way out, i grabbed my jacket and as i got to the door, I turned. "Make sure to call Dominic, if he's late, Jaxton will be so mad."
"Will do!!" They both said.
Jaxton had been at school since and didn't even return home, he was helping out and also rehearsing over and over. I knew he was damn nervous and that was why i needed everyone to be there before the play started to show support, i really wished i could have stayed the entire performance but everyone of them needed me. My best friends and my brother.
I got into my car and drove straight to school.
***
I first went to see Jaxton backstage at the auditorium, there he was dressed like we were in the sixties, he was pacing around, muttering this script while also telling the others where to go with what.
"Hey."
Jax turned and once he saw me, he grinned. "Dylan, hey." He rushed to me and hugged me.
"You need to relax." I said as i placed my hands on his shoulders. "You will do great, I know and i am sorry, i wish i could watch you from the beginning."
"No, no, it's okay! I'm not your only best friend." He chuckled. "You have to be there for Raven and Jon, Jon especially and Henry."
I nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna be there for all of you. Now, breathe. You'll nail it tonight and i trust you."
Jaxton smiled and hugged me. "Thanks."
"I gotta go before the cheerleaders start their whole routine, love you." I said as i began to leave.
"Love you too." He yelled to my hearing.
****
"Heyyy, Dylan." Tyler waved at me from the bleachers and with a smile i went over to him with the posters i had made. There were already a few people around, well more than a few but the bleachers were not all full since the game didn't start yet.
"Tyler, hey." I smiled at him. "No, we shouldn't sit here, my friends, Boyfriend and your own boyfriend won't be able to see us from here." I said as i pulled him up.
"Um, okay, where do we sit?" He questioned.
I looked up and smiled. "We'll go up two bleachers, that way, they can see our signs."
"Our?"
"I knew you wouldn't come with one and so i made one for you, you're too shy and innocent and this is our boyfriends last game so we have to be fully supportive." I said as we climbed up and muttered "excuse me" and "sorry." to some humans who were in the way.
"Oh, um, okay." Tyler said as we sat down. I handed the right poster for his man to him, and placed mine beside me, saving a spot for Mrs. Ashcroft.
"I'm saving this spot for Henry's mom." I told him. "Excited?"
Tyler nodded with a smile. "I am. I know he'll do great and he'll get into Stanford too."
I frowned. "Hold up, Christian is going to Stanford too?"
Tyler nodded. "Yup, we have it all planned out. At first, he didn't know what college he wanted to go to, he wasn't sure but then he found out about Stanford and asked me what i thought, i told him it was the same college i was gonna go to." Ty shrugged. "Now, we gonna rent an apartment together." Tyler blushed.
"Fuck, you both are fucking cute! Wow! You are really living the wattpad life, i envy you."
"Says the boy dating the quarterback."
"Does the shy boy who dates one of the boys in the football team get to have a say in this? Talk about cliche high school romance."
"That would be the two of us."
"Well," i cocked my head to the side and then nodded. "You do have a point." I said and we both laughed. My phone suddenly began to ring, i took it out and it was Mrs. Ashcroft. I quickly answered and looked around. "Hello!"
"Dylan, where are you?"
"Field! Are you here yet?"
"Yeah, where exactly are you?"
I stood up and began to wave. "I can't see you but hopefully you can see a mad teenager standing and waving." I said as i looked around.
"Oh yeah, i found the mad teenager." She said and then i spotted her and chuckled.
"I saved you a seat." I said and as i sat down, i noticed someone was suddenly sitting at the spot i had saved for Mrs. Ashcroft. "Sorry, someone's here."
"Well, I didn't see anyone here." The guy replied and continued typing away on his phone.
My brows shot up as I looked at Tyler who gave me a look as if he knew what i was about to do.
"Dylan, wait."
"No, no." I rose a finger at him. "I got this." I turned back to the guy who smiled at whatever whosoever sent to him .
Now, i could have easily told Tyler to move a bit but there was someone else at his right and this fool could have just moved but no, he was being a smartass.
I mentally scoffed.
"Excuse me, you mannerless piece of shit." I said and he quickly looked away from his phone and at me with a shocked expression. "Yeah, you." I smiled. "Now, listen good. There are so many empty bleachers around, empty just like that brain of yours and you need to get the heck away from me because that spot that your stupid ass has sat on belongs to my boyfriend's mother! Got it?"
"Okay, i am going to stop you right there." He pointed at me and I slapped his finger off my face.
"Don't you ever point that diseased finger at me, you walking infection. You fucking moved my cheer works."
"Dylan,"
"Hold on Tyler," I said, not taking my eyes off this rude asshat sitting beside me. "As i was saying, you have less than ten seconds to get your filthy ass up and go sit somewhere else because i was here first and you got here late, like how you always are when it comes to accomplishing something good. I understand your pain, seeing that you are miserable and lonely and don't understand what a relationship feels like but it is okay because maybe if you listened to instructions, your life wouldn't be the way it is."
"What the-"
I snapped my fingers right in his face. "I asked nicely, you didn't oblige, so don't even say shit about me being rude, this space has been saved for someone more important than you could ever dream of becoming, so get the hell out before I pull out your fucking eyeball and make you eat it." I flashed him a smile.
The guy stared for a bit and scoffed. "You are really something."
"And you are a nuisance." I retorted as he got up and angrily walked off.
"Jesus, Dylan, that was really...brutal." Tyler said and i smiled at him.
"I know, i know, I'm a bitch for what i did but isn't that what that dickface deserved? He was trying to act smart with me, i just had to put him in his place."
Mrs. Ashcroft walked past him as she came over to where we were, i stood up and gave her a hug.
"Hey! You are just in time, the cheerleaders are about to come out." I told her.
"Oh good, i wanted to be here for all of it." She said as she sat down. Mrs. Ashcroft was dressed in a blue skinny jeans and white top, accompanied by a black jacket that felt so smooth. "I haven't seen my son played."
"Wait, you're Henry's mom?" Tyler asked, he looked totally shocked. "Hi!!"
"Oh, meet Tyler, he's my cute bean, everybody loves Tyler cause he is cute. Tyler, meet Henry's momma." I introduced them.
"Hello, Tyler." She waved slightly at him.
"It is so nice to meet you, ma'am."
Mrs. Ashcroft chuckled. "He really is cute." She said and Tyler blushed.
Just then the school band began to play, the trumpets came first and them marching. I began to clap when the cheerleaders all began to come out in a straight line, all catwalking.
I got up and screamed, clapping once i spotted Raven and Gwen. "Yes, bitch!!!! Slaaaaayyyyyyy."
"What was that?" Tyler chuckled.
"What?" I looked at him. "That's what the heterosexuals expect us to sound like." I said and looked at the man in front of me, giving me a look of disgust.
I smiled and blew him a kiss, he quickly looked away. I looked at Tyler and we both snickered.
The cheerleaders performed different dance routines, it wasn't the normal cheerleading thing like how white cheerleaders would cheer. I had watched a lot of black cheerleaders and the energy they always carried always had me like DAMN!! I loved how they broke the rules yet didn't. I showed a few dance routines to Raven and Gwen and yeah, although they were still doing the whole special cheerleading clap and throw routines, they also did switch to fucking gangsters and everyone cheered them because this was different from what Eastwood High would normally perform.
I was proud of them, the band were exceptional, there was no damn mistake. The splits, the whole air throwing human thing, whatever it is called. These bitches were bad and i could tell they all enjoyed it, even Quinn cause she kept smiling all through. They brought in sexy and everyone was living for it, the way their hairs moved in sync.
I was proud and Mrs. Ashcroft looked surprised and entertained at the same time. "Oh, it's been years since i saw something this good." She said, her eyes filled with excitement.
No one was expecting that.
This was what it meant to be school body president and her being assistant, we had to change things and even her coach seemed pleased with this.
"Oh shit!" I turned to Mrs. Ashcroft. "Uh, could you please watch our seats? Tyler and I will be back soon."
"Huh?" Tyler asked, confused.
"Sure."
I quickly gripped his hand and pulled him up. "We'll be right back." I told her as i pulled Tyler with me, past the crowd and out of the field and into the school.
"Where are we going?" Tyler asked. "To the boys locker room."
"W-Why?"
"So you can kiss your boyfriend and wish him good luck because i know you haven't done that since all the boys stayed behind after school."
"Well, true, but i could just do that after the play. Do not make me go in there." He said and i turned to him.
"Are you embarrassed of Christian?"
"What? No."
"You don't wanna kiss him?"
"I-It's not that."
"Support your man, bitch, I've got your back. Just wish him goodluck, i am sure coach has been pushing them, he'd appreciate a hug right now. Our boys would." I said and continued walking, not letting go off him. Just as we got to the locker room, the door was pushed open and coach appeared with the boys behind him.
"You again?"
"Nice to see you too." I flashed him a smile.
He sighed and walked away. "Come on, boys."
"Tyler?" Christian called.
Tyler looked at me and i smiled at him, i let go off him and he went to Christian.
"Dylan!!!" Jon called and as i turned to look at him, he suddenly pulled me up from the ground.
"Put me down, you psycho." I said with a chuckle and he did.
"Good luck out there, you'll do great, okay?" I told him and he nodded.
"Yeah, i am nervous but I'm sure I'll be fine." He said and i kissed his cheek.
"Go out there and do what you know how to do best."
"Sing?"
I smacked the back of his head and he chuckled.
"I'll see you after the game."
I nodded. "Make sure you head straight to the auditorium."
"Yes, dad." He said and walked away.
"Dexwell." Zach called as he walked out.
"Pratt. You look ugly."
"You too, you could have at least tried to look good today."
"Oh please, my face is so much better than yours and I don't even need toxic masculinity for that."
Zach gave me the middle finger and i cocked my brow at him. "Be careful, I might suck that finger." I said and he pulled it back instantly and looked at me with disgust.
"I hate you."
"Love you too." I smiled. "Good luck."
"Thanks, bro. See you later." He said with a smile as he walked away.
I looked away from him and standing in front of me was Henry with a smile.
"Look who came to shower me with love."
"Oh shut up, you are not that special."
"Ow! My feelings." He dramatically said and I giggled.
I pulled him closer and kissed him softly. "Trash their asses."
Henry smirked. "Yes, kitten." He said and i smirked as well.
"I'll be cheering you, your mom's there already."
"I love you."
"I love you too, and good luck mi amor."
Henry grinned. "That sounds so hot."
"The spanish?"
Henry nodded.
"I can say more. Uh, si pierdes...te cortaré las bolas." I smiled.
"Oh, you are something else."
I giggled as I nodded. "The best."
"Henry, Christian, let's goo!!" Zach yelled from down the hall.
"Good luck."
Henry kissed me again, tapped his helmet and turned to Christian who was making out with his boyfriend. "Hey, Christian, let's go." Henry said and they both pulled away.
The boys said somethings to each other before Christian ran off with Henry.
"Good luck, Christian!!" I yelled to his hearing.
Tyler slowly turned to me and all i did was fold my arms and smile.
"What?" He asked innocently.
"I said kiss him and wish him good luck not start a porno with him, you bottom."
"Shut up."
I snickered. "Come here, love." I said as i walked over to him and put an arm around his shoulder. "Let's go cheer our boys."
****
I had been cheering Henry and my boys for the past hour and fifteen minutes, i turned to Tyler and Mrs. Ashcroft and handed the posters to them. "I have to go to the auditorium, it's Jaxton's play tonight and i have to spend the next one hour and fifteen minutes with him, I'll see you both later."
"Um, okay, well here." Mrs. Ashcroft opened her bag and handed me a wipe. "Clean those blue paints off."
"Thanks." I took it from her. "I will see you on Monday?" I said to Tyler and he smiled.
"Yes, now go."
"Don't worry, I'm here with him." Mrs. Ashcroft said.
"Bye. Bye." I said and made my way with so much struggle.
I wish i could tell Henry i was leaving but he understood, so. I was about to leave when i spotted some familiar faces in the bleachers, i was fucking shocked to see them all together and talking.
"What the hell?" I chuckled and took out my phone to take a photo of Mr and Mrs. Frost and Mr. Pratt as well. They were all seated together; Mr. Pratt had a blue face cap on his head while Mr. Frost had a cup of smoothie in his hand.
I took another photo of them.
I wish i would talk to them right now but i needed to get to the auditorium and so i quickly left. It was really beautiful seeing that they came to support their children and hopefully they come to Jaxton's play.
I quickly sent the photo to Mr. Frost as i wiped the blue paint off my face. "You should smile more, you aren't watching a riot." I texted him. "I'm glad y'all came to support them, it means a lot."
As i made my way to the auditorium, a text came in. I opened it and it was from him.
Stalking us now? Where are you?
I snorted.
Please, y'all are old, what could I possibly stalk you all for. I'm at the auditorium, my brother's play.
I quickly put my phone on silent as i walked in, i looked around for my parents and made my way to them quietly.
"Hey." I whispered.
"Oh hey, we saved you a seat." Dad said as he pointed to the spot between mom and Sofía which had Mom's bag on it. I picked up the bag as i sat and placed it on my lap.
"How is it?"
"Jaxton is fucking amazing, Jesus." Mom said, clearly amazed.
"I swear, he is such a good actor." Dad said with a chuckle.
I looked on the stage and there was this blonde boy dressed in black leather pants and a white shirt like that of the seeker. He must be the other Romeo
I looked behind me and spotted Dominic, his sister and his mother a couple seats behind. When he saw me, he waved and then his mother saw me, she waved as well with a smile and i did the same.
I was glad he had all these people here to support him.
Now while i watched the show i saw what my parents saw and i was glad I didn't play Romeo because Jaxton was so fucking good, this was also a musical and was a little different from the real Romeo and Juliet shit, i was so glad that this was gonna make some homophobic parents feel uncomfortable, i wanted them to choke on that and die right here or probably have their hatred turn into fire that burns them alive.
Anyways, Jaxton was amazing. His voice was perfect as always but this time it was so soothing, it was like being compelled, everyone couldn't help but smile. I watched him act and even when he cried, fuck it felt so real. The way he acted like he loved the other kid, damn.
When he acted like he was in pain, it felt so fucking real, even mom wiped off her tears. In this scene, the stage had been made to look like two different places. One was where the blonde Romeo was, he seemed to be in a church while Jaxton in his room and both boys sang the same song, I recognised it. "July by Noah Cyrus." and they both did this song justice, they were able to duet it and the pain that came out of it felt so real.
They were so in love with each other and despite all the tribulations, despite everything society and their parents had tried to do to separate them, they still couldn't stop loving each other. They were drawn to each other.
And now, Jaxton was locked up in his room and all he wanted was to be with the love of his life. Everything was so complicated, society wouldn't let them be because it was an abomination, because men were not allowed to love men but they were not born this way.
Now, it was night and Romeo after being beaten and tortured by Jaxtons' Romeo's parents had sent a letter to Jaxton and requested they meet at the bridge and elope together. Jaxton had escaped from his room but left the letter under his pillow, his father had seen it and sent his guards to find them.
Now, Jaxton sang an angelic song with his voice as he made his way to Romeo. The musical had to be one of the best i had ever seen and when he met Romeo, he duetted with him and they kissed.
I wonder what Dominic thinks about it. He better not fucking have a problem but then, who wouldn't?
Just as Jaxton cried about Romeo's injuries which made Sofía cry, Romeo tried to tell his lover he was fine as long as his man was there. And just before they could escape, they were surrounded and Jaxton's father was so not happy with Jaxton trying to elope with a man. He took a sword from his guard and went straight for Romeo and stabbed him, when he did, everyone screamed and Sofía began to cry. Mom had her mouth covered with her hands and sighed.
"Freaking asshole." She sighed.
"I wanna punch him so bad." Dad said and i turned to him.
"That's a kid, dad. He's like sixteen."
I held Sofía's hand while she cried about how Romeo got killed. Jaxton screamed and went on the floor, crying and begging him to wake. He sang a song as he actually cried and then his father began to drag him off Romeo as he screamed to be closer to him. He pushed his father off and ran back to his lover. This pathetic act was sad as hell, i could fucking feel it deep inside me, it felt so real that some parents began to cry.
Watching Jaxton act, i felt a tear fall from my eyes and I quickly wiped it off before anyone would see while mom talked about how this was messed up.
While Jaxton's father screamed at him, Jaxton then sang the hurt incantation from the series Tangled and that very song, i was damn sure everyone felt it deep inside them.
"Wither and Decay,
End this destiny
Break these earthly chains
And set the spirit free
Take what has been hurt
Grant them no mercy
Bend and break the reigns
And set the spirit free
The spirit free."
Once Jaxton sang the last lyric, he took out his lover's dagger and stabbed himself with it and the crowd let out another sad yell.
It's called Romeo and Romeo , of course there was no happy ending.
And while Jaxton's father stood there perplexed, Romeo died on Romeo.
Jaxton's " father" crawled to him and cried for him to get up but what good was it gonna be anyways? This was a message for every homophobic parent, every homophobic person.
Your homophobia is gonna drive people to suicide, depression, self harm.....darkness.
The curtains closed and everyone clapped, they all stood up and fucking clapped hard and i was proud.
That was my fucking brother.
"Damn, that was so good." Mom chuckled as she sniffed and wiped her tear.
I looked back as i clapped and spotted my friends and boyfriend all in one line, clapping as well.
I smiled
****
The play had ended by 10:41 instead and while everyone was busy talking with whosoever, we waited for Jaxton.
"Hey, guys." I called out to my friends as they made their way to us. "So, how was the game?" I asked them. "Please tell me we won."
"Duh! What do you take us for?" Zach said and i jumped.
"Oh my God, well done guys."
"I apologise for not being able to make it but we had to be here." Dad said.
"Oh, that's okay Mr. Dexwell." Jon said and Henry glared at him.
"He was talking to me." He said and turned to my parents. "That's okay, Mr. Dexwell, I understand."
I chuckled. "Such a child."
"Oh, Dylan!" Jon called and pulled me aside.
"What's up?"
"So, a scout talked to me. Apparently, they liked how i played." He said with a big smile.
"Oh my God, please tell me they are from Grand lakes."
"They are from Grand lakes!" He grinned and i jumped.
"Oh my God!"
"Yeah, and they also talked about a scholarship? The woman gave me her card and asked to call her tomorrow so we could talk."
"Oh my God, you are having your interview tomorrow."
"Dylan, i am so happy, nervous too."
"I told you, you would do good." I hugged him. "I am giving you an early congratulations, love. Congratulations."
He chuckled. "Thank you."
"Heeeey heyyy, there's our star." I heard Raven said and i turned to see Jaxton walking towards them.
"Oh my God, sweetie, you were so good." Mom said as she hugged him.
"Thanks" he chuckled and hugged Meghan and Astrid. "Thank you all for being here, ughhhh, i was so nervous."
"You made a lot of people cry." I told him and Dad nodded
"Like your mom."
"Shut up." Mom glared at him while we laughed.
"You did amazing, babe." Dominic told him.
I walked over to Henry and stood beside him, putting my arm around his waist. "You good?"
Henry kissed my forehead. "I'm good."
"Jaxton? Jaxton Olson?" A woman called and we all turned to her, she was dressed in an ash suit, she was black and had curly hair and tiny earrings.
"Hi." Jaxton smiled at her. "Eleanor, right?"
She smiled. "That's right. And if you know me, you know I'm from the new york school of arts." She said and mom turned to look at me with shock, i smiled.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Jaxton chuckled. "Um, meet my parents." He said and gestured to our mom and Dad.
"Oh, i need to call Bruce, i hope one of the scouts talked to him." I said as I reached for my phone.
"Um, Dylan." Henry called and I looked up at him.
"What's up?"
"Bruce didn't come to the game." He said and I frowned deeply.
"What do you mean he didn't come to the game? This was important to him."
"He's right." Gwen said as she stood beside me. "Bruce wasn't at the game, Quinn was worried as well."
"Bruce wouldn't...i...Did anyone see him at school today?" I suddenly asked.
"I thought i did but then he wasn't ." Gwen shook her head.
"And i spoke to all the boys, no one went out with Bruce." Henry said.
"What?"
"He called you? He wasn't out with any of the boys, Dylan. He lied." Henry said and my throat tightened.
"Why would he—"
I looked at my phone and noticed i had eleven missed calls from Quinn. "Shit." I cursed. "Quinn has been calling me." I said and quickly called her back. I took a couple steps away from them and then she answered.
"Oh my God, Quinn, I'm so sorry. My phone was on silent cause i was at Jaxton's play and I just heard Bruce was not at the game. What is this?"
"I tried calling you, i t-tried c-calling you." There was a crack in her voice and soon she began to sob.
"Quinn, what's wrong?" I asked as she cried. "Quinn, what's wrong? Speak to me. Why are you..." my heart began to beat heavily. "QUINN, ANSWER ME, GODDAMMNIT!!!" I screamed.
"He's....he's dead, Dylan."
"What? N-No."
"He's fucking dead, Dylan!" She yelled back and i felt my heart stop. "I went over to h-his place c-cause he wasn't at the game but he....he shot himself in the head, last night. He...He's fucking dead!" Quinn screamed as she cried.
My hands became shaky and the phone fell from my hand and to the floor. She had to be lying. Bruce wasn't dead. He wouldn't.
"No, no."
"Dylan, what's wrong?" Henry asked as he walked to me.
I felt frozen but my mind kept screaming at me. The pain and grief came in waves and it threatened to consume me completely, I couldn't see, I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe.
"Dylan!!" Henry called out as he held me.
"I can't breathe." I told him as i gripped onto him and fell on my knees.
"Dylan!!" He reached for me.
I felt a pondering in my head, I couldn't breathe.
He's fucking dead, Dylan!
"No, no, no, no, no!" I muttered.
I felt my throat tighten and i began to sob but it all still felt like a lie, yet i knew it was true. The pain burned like fire and i gripped onto Henry.
"What's happening?" I heard Raven ask, her voice filled with fear.
My heart felt so big for my chest, it struggled to keep a steady beat.
"You were crying," Bruce said and looked at me.
"I was scared." I swallowed, looking back at him. "I knew about your secret first and I was scared I couldn't help you when I could have and I am sorry."
I held Henry's arm tight as the tears fell.
"But you've gotta promise us something." I said and he frowned.
"What?"
"This. This should never happen again. Never ever ever, you won't think about hurting yourself and it the thought comes then you call Quinn or you call me." I said and Quinn nodded.
"I'll try to help even though I suck." She said and Bruce chuckled.
"I promise." He smiled.
I screamed as i felt my throat tighten and the tears fell uncontrollably. "I c-can't breathe, Henry."
"Here! Here!" I heard Jaxton say , mom tried giving me some water from it.
"Dylan, here, sip a little." She said but i slapped the bottle off her hand.
"Dylan." Henry placed his hands on both my cheeks and turned my face so i could look at him. "Let's breathe together, okay? As i count you take in air, okay?"
I nodded rapidly.
"One."
We both breathe in together.
"Two."
We breathed out.
"Again, one."
We did that till i was able to breathe normally again and then i cried.
"Does anyone know what happened?" Jon asked.
"Oh my God." Gwen said in a soft tone as she pulled my phone away from her ear.
"What?" Jaxton asked her, promptly.
"It's B-Bruce." She said in a weak voice.
"What about Bruce? What did he do?" Raven questioned .
"He...He's dead."
It became silent and I screamed in pain as i punched myself, tears falling uncontrollably. Henry instantly pulled me into a hug, stopping me from hitting myself as i cried and squeezed his shirt tight.
"I wanna say thank you for being my good friends, for believing in me and making me a changed person. I have done a lot of bad things and i would be dead now if it wasn't for you and Quinn who saved my life. You are amazing in every way and i wanna thank you, do not ever stop being you and while i...pursue my own dream, make sure you become that lawyer, a badass one."
I began to pant and shook my head, trying to breathe again, i looked back at Henry. "He has to wake up, Henry. He can't...he can't be dead! He can't do this to me. He has to get up, Henry, please, he has to get up. He can't do this to me, please! Please!! Somebody call Quinn, wait, wait, I'm overreacting, I'm overreacting." I wiped my tears and faked a smile. "He's not dead, right? Henry, Bruce isn't...he wouldn't do that to me, he promised me. He w-wouldn't, right?" I asked as tears rolled down my cheeks.
"Mommy." I turned to her. "Mommy, you've met Bruce, he wouldn't....he wouldn't do that so let's not cry." I wiped her tears. "He promised me, so, let's not cry."
"Can someone confirm this?" Henry said.
"I uh, I just called the hospital he was taken to, the one Quinn is at. They confirmed they brought him in sometime this morning."
My world came crashing down.
"No." I shook my head. "No. Bruce wouldn't." I sobbed. "
I promised to help him.
I promised to help him.
Author's Note.
I haven't written an author's note in some of the chapters but, this made me actually cry so yeah, i had to put this down. It hurt me writing this chapter because i put myself in Dylan's shoes and i fell in love with Bruce when i never planned to.
Oooofffffff
*wipes tears *
Don't come at me, y'all saw this coming anyways.
White hearts, people 🤍🤍
