BAD CUPID

Chapter 50
Dylan.
It's Friday, today wasn't all that bad. School was the same, playing Johnathan, sticking with my best friends and Jon. Apparently, Quinn got kicked out of the cheer squad and so that's one problem down for Raven, she was super excited about it. I've been texting Dominic, I told him to make sure he calls Jaxton about three times a day for now till Jaxton really gets used to it and then he's gonna stop later on.
Today at school, Zach was really trying to get on my nerves again, I swear I hate that guy. He's so annoying, I wish an earthquake would happen and swallow him up. Does that sound awful? Yes? Awesome.
The fool tried making fun of me again today and even when he knows that he's never gonna win, he still tries and I hate him for that. I hate him for being Zach even if he was hot.
Christian, let's talk about christian. We've barely hanged out this past week and I feel like I'm one friend down. Christian is a really nice guy, I mean he was the first friend i made and the second guy i talked to in this school, right after Henry and me stupidly asking if I was alive. He was nice to me and i like him cause he's funny and cute and all but we've barely had time to talk and hang out and I feel like that's my fault, and so when I saw him during third period, I had to approach him and it was awkward for about a minute but christian being christian and that means goofy, he made me laugh and soon the awkward tension was gone and I told him to come over to my place tomorrow being Saturday and we were gonna hang out. I owe it to him, I mean every time he wants to hang out with me something bad happens and spoils that, it's sad.
Johnathan. Bad boy? Good boy? He's none of them, he's a manipulator and the devil like I always said. Today, i confirmed that our act was getting to him. No, he didn't admit it but I saw it in his eyes when Raven and I approached him, he look.....worried for a second and then he masked it. Johnathan was always good at that, masking. But once upon a time we did hang out and I know the kinda person he is and i make sure to catch that expression of fear or worry or whatever right before he masks it. I've been trying to record our conversations but he never says anything and it always fails. He's a smart kid.
School was gonna be over soon and then comes summer. In two weeks, homecoming returns to Eastwood high and i have until next week to finish up my project with Henry Dickhead. Our exams are also really close, on the same week of homecoming and I cannot wait to be done with it and know I'm in my final highschool year.
Right now, the four of us were at the same restaurant Jon brought Jax and i to that night after the Zach's party, sitting on a booth and had drinks right in front of us. And by four of us I mean, Raven, Jax, Jon and I. Raven had a strawberry smoothie, Jax had ordered a lemonade, Jon got a vanilla smoothie while I had fries and a strawberry smoothie, I gotta eat.
Raven really didn't want Jon there, I guess she really doesn't like him or trust him at all. I accepted Jon into our circle cause no one would and he proved to me that he really regretted what he did and so I forgave him, obviously.
"So, red or black?" Raven asked, her eyes glued to her phone.
"Are we still talking about the dress?" Jax asked with a cocked brow, he was sitter next to Jon while I sat next to Raven.
"Yeah," she nodded, not looking up from her phone.
I groaned, throwing my head back. She had been asking us what color would look great on her and we thought she was finally done talking about homecoming dress but two minutes later, she asks this.
"Raven!! Homecoming is in two weeks, chill out!"
"Are you kidding? Look, I'm glad Quinn got kicked out of the cheer team but I'd be damned if she wore a better dress than me to homecoming or if anyone did, not that they can but homecoming is the time i show everyone who's queen and who deserves that crown," She paused after her rant and then smirked. "Me."
"They're always like this." Jax said, making me look at him.
"Really?" I grimaced.
He nodded. "Raven and Quinn always do this every year and fight for the crown, we're all used to it actually. From next week, you're gonna see the real fight for homecoming Queen."
I frowned. "It's not gonna be that bad?"
Jax leaned in, resting his arms on the table. "They call it 'The clash of the titans'" He whispered and quivered his brow.
"Oooooh, it's that bad huh." I replied.
"That's the week you realize that your best friend can be an angel and the daughter of Lucifer in one minute." Jon said with risen brows.
"She really turns to the devil, hmm?"
"She threatens you by being nice." Jax stated, making me grimaced.
How so?
"Who does that?"
I frowned. "Clearly her," I rolled my eyes, we were both whispering. "So what you guys are trying to say is, this is all gonna happen next week?"
They both nodded.
"They are gonna be at each other's necks, no one dares to run for queen. Hell, they wouldn't even win." Jon chuckled.
"They'd be forced to back out even," Jax added.
"Why?"
"Cause the 'queens' will team up and make them drop out." Jax answered.
"The queens?" My eyes widen once I realized what he meant and whom the queens were. "Wait, Quinn and Raven? T-Together? As a team?"
They both nodded again.
"They have to be the final two and then its a blood bath." Jon exaggerated.
"One time, a girl from our school with perfect blonde hair tried to run for queen, she was really pretty." Jaxton spoke.
I didn't like where this story was going, he already mentioned hair and pretty.
"What happened to her?" I had to know.
"She dropped out of the competition two days before homecoming, no one knew why, until she came to school with purple and green hair." Jax said, adding more force to the last word. "Her perfect model blonde hair turned into something from a cartoon overnight."
Oh my God.
"Oh. My. God. Purple and gr-what! No."
"Yup." Jax shrugged.
Jon snickered. "I still remember that glorious day."
"It wasn't funny." Jax scowled at him.
"You gotta admit it, it was." He still laughed.
"It kinda is." I nodded at Jax.
Jax went silent for a second and then chuckled. "Yeah, it was funny."
"They really are demons huh?"
"Legend says that the queens of Eastwood High will come together and make other competitors leave by spreading their venom and then they go back to waging war amongst themselves." Jon said in a low tone as if telling an interesting secret in an episode of Merlin and that only intrigued me the more.
"Wow." I exclaimed.
"And," Jaxton rose a finger. "Only the magical crown of oz is gonna tell who the real queen is."
"Wait, so who was queen last year?" I asked with a little frown.
"Raven." Jax and Jon chorused.
"Two years ago?"
"Quinn." Jax replied.
"Oh, so this is gonna be a blood bath?"
"Yeah, i-"
"Guys, I can hear you perfectly. I'm sitting right here." Raven said as she typed on her phone, getting our attentions. We had forgotten the evil queen was right here for a minute even when we were whispering. She looked up from her phone and at Jon and Jax. "You guys don't know what being queen means to me."
"Everything?" I answered, more like a question.
She looked at me and nodded. "Exactly, as long as this school is reminded whom the queen is, its all fine." She said with a smile. "And, I think red will be nice on me. Red is my favorite color and red always looks good on me."
"The devils color, of course it would." I said and gave her a smile.
She smiled back, just as fake as I did to assure me she understood and I was right.
"I need to purchase this dress from Italy, I hope it fits." She sighed and went back to typing on her phone.
"So Jon, how's your project coming?" I asked as I ate from my fries.
"Well, it's been fun." He smiled. "We're almost done though, Gwen's a good partner."
I didn't ask about Gwen but okay.
"Gwen." Raven called out and we all looked at her.
"Yeah, that's his partner." I responded.
She looked at me and the boys, looking dumbfounded and then chuckled. "Oh no, she's here and I'm just calling her." She sent us a smile and looked behind Jon, we all followed her gaze and looked making Jon and Jax turn.
"Gwen." Raven called again and a girl at the counter looked our way. She was beautiful, really beautiful actually and had short blonde hair. She was putting on a high waist jean pants and a yellow top that was tucked in, her makeup was totally on point. I see why Jon does like her. She walked towards our table with a really nice smile.
"Hey Raven," she smiled at her and then looked at everyone of us. "Hi." She looked rich as well, I can smell the money.
"Hey." I waved at her a little, smiling as well.
"Hi, Dylan right?"
"Y-Yeah." I blinked, surprised she knew my name but then I'm sure everyone does.
"I'm Gwen," she thrusted her hand out for a handshake and I did shake her. "I've heard so much about you....well both from raven and the school." She said shaking her head a little.
"That's....good?"
She giggled.
"Stop telling people about me please." I whispered to Raven, fake smiling.
"How can I not." She beamed.
"Jon, hey." She smiled the more once she saw him.
"Hi," Jon grinned widely. "How are you?"
"I'm good," she gave a small nod.
"You w-wanna join us?" Jon asked and began to scoot. I frowned at him a little.
"Oh no," she shook her head. "I just came to get some food for my uncle." She shrugged. "Thanks anyways."
"Sure." He smiled and adjusted back.
She looked at Raven and they both started to chat about God knows what, I wasn't really paying attention since I was busy studying Jon. He just started at her like she was some kinda new creature, like she was the modern Cinderella which was what she looked like. Totally beautiful.
Jon smiled throughout, not taking his eyes off her and that made me knit my brows the more. The way he looked at her was something I had seen before, it was the exact same way Dominic looked at Jaxton at the hospital. Which means...Oh-My-Sweet Je-louis! Jon likes Gwen!! Oh my lord! He likes her! That's why he wouldn't stop smiling since he saw her and he looked all.....happy? Ooooooooooohhhhh.
"Dylan!"
"Hmm?" I looked at Jax, blinking thrice.
"Why are you looking at Jon like you could read his mind?" Jax asked, furrowing a brow.
Everyone was staring at me, I chuckled. "I just...I remembered something, its nothing."
"So uh, I'm gonna go now, I have to get the food to him or he'll start to yell like an old man would since well, he's one." She shrugged a little.
"Alright, I'll text you later." Raven said with a smile, she seemed to talk to Gwen like a normal person which a normal Raven wouldn't do.
"Bye, Gwen." Jax smiled at her.
"Later," I flashed her a smile.
"Uh, I'll see you off." Jon said and was about to stand when she declined.
"No, you don't need to."
Sit the fuck down!
"You sure?"
Yes she's sure.
"Don't worry Jon, we'll meet up later at your house. I might be a little late today."
"Its cool." He smiled at her.
"Bye," she waved and walked away.
I just scowled at Jon, he was putting his emotions everywhere. He looked up at me with a smile and once he saw my expression, his vanished.
"What?"
What the fuck do you think you're doing?
I shook my head and flashed him a smile. "Nothing."
"Okay?"
"I'm getting both the black and red." Raven said, her eyes on her phone.
We all groaned at the same time and let out frustrated sighs.
••
It was past eight I was home with my parents. Henry didn't come over today and didn't leave a message as to why he wasn't coming, I tried calling him but his phone was switched off. I am a bit worried about him, I hate to admit it but I am. Jaxton had gone out to see the mother of the love of his life earlier and wasn't home yet but he did text me to say he was on his way so that's that.
Mom, Dad and I were playing monopoly on the dinning and I know some people would say that's not normal but it is. Dad had gotten the game earlier and mom asked me to join ad I couldn't say no cause I was bored and now I was enjoying the game so much. We had been playing for about thirty minutes or more and Dad seemed to be the one with the most houses and then me.
"That's my house!" Mom exclaimed happily. "Woo hoo!"
"How much do I have to pay you?" Dad asked.
Mom looked at her card and smiled. "That would be nine thousand five hundred, sir."
"What?"
I laughed. "Pay up."
"But I only have ten thousand now."
"Well, I can't help you." Mom said and shook her head.
"Common," Dad whined. "I love you."
"And I love you too honey but this ain't gonna work now." Mom said with a soft tone which made me laugh.
"Pay the woman, old man."
"I'm not old!" Dad exclaimed. "I'm thirty something."
"As long as you've passed thirty five, you're old." I smiled.
He groaned while mom laughed. He gave mom his ten thousand monopoly money and I'm gave him five hundred as his change.
"You guys are so mean," Dad said, I rolled my dice while laughing and I ended up at dad's place.
"No!"
"Yes!" He grinned. "That's five thousand."
"But dad, I'm your son. Have mercy on me."
"Sorry boy, but the man wants his money."
"What kind of a father are you?" I dramatically said.
"You have over twenty thousand!" Dad said in between laughs.
"Okay, okay." I chuckled and paid him. "There you go."
We heard the door open and heard Jax's voice calling out to us.
"Dinning!" Mom said out to his hearing.
Jax came in later with a smile and sat next to me. "I wanna play!"
"Well you're late."
"Come on," he whined.
"All the houses are bought." Mom said.
He groaned. "Whyyyyyyyy!"
"Okay, we'll start again cause of you." Mom said.
"What? No." Dad grumbled.
"I agree." I nodded.
"Your mom only said that cause she entered my house and has to pay me fourteen thousand." Dad yelled.
We all laughed at his expression.
"Too late honey." Mom said and began resetting it.
"Not fair Bonnie."
" I love you, Matthew." Mom said, smirking like a winner and ignoring dad's complains.
••
We played the game for hours with Dad constantly taking our money and laughing like the villain in pinky and the brain. We had late dinner cause of the game and afterwards I asked Jaxton about Astrid and according to him, she's okay.
It was late and I was already asleep, deep in wonderland when my phone started ringing. I was angry and kept grumbling. I picked up my phone from the dresser, I checked the time and the caller. It was Raven, I answered with a sigh.
"This better be important."
"You're sleeping already?" She asked.
"Its eleven o'clock, Raven. Of course I'm gonna be sleeping."
"Oh! Oh well, you need to dress up."
"What? Why?" I frowned.
"Its Friday."
"I'm aware."
"And what do you do on Fridays?"
"Rest."
"No, that's for Saturdays. What do you do on Friday nights?"
"Sleep, like every other night."
She groaned in frustration. "No! Fridays are for getting wasted and also for having so much fun. So, we...are going clubbing."
"Try the next number."
"Dylan!"
"Did you wake me up to play a stupid prank on me?"
"No? Now dress up, we're really going to a club."
I sat up. "Raven! No."
"Why?"
"A club? Are you asking me to sneak out and go to an illegal place with you?" I whisper yelled.
"Can you walk out the front door?"
"What? No."
"Then sneaking out it is and it isn't illegal."
"Are you high?"
"Loosen up, Dylan!" She sighed.
"We've been friends for months now, Fridays have passed and you never mentioned clubbing. Why now?" I kept whisper yelling.
"I'm celebrating."
"Celebrating what? Who died?"
"Stop asking stupid questions and get dressed. I'm outside your house."
"You're lying."
"I'm not!"
"I can't sneak out!"
"Dylan, it's just a party."
"I'm not going to a club with you. I'm only seventeen!"
"You're not a virgin so shut up!"
"What does that have to do with this?"
"Dylan. You have ten minutes to get ready and come down or I'll come right up and kill you myself."
"I'll take my chances, killer frost."
"Get your ass down here!"
"Raven, how about you go home and lay on your bed and sleep like you should."
"No, clubbing sounds better."
"Bitch, I am not going to a club with you. No."
"Yes, and you'll come down here or I'll come to your house through your front door and knock and when your parents answer, I'm gonna tell them you told me we were going to a club tonight." She threatened.
"I hate you!"
"Love you too, now hurry." She said and hanged up.
"R-" I sighed. "Uggh." I fell back on the bed. "Unbelievable."
This is bad.
I'm not going.
I'm not going.
I looked at my closet.
Are you really gonna do this?
You're not going.
I sat up.
I'm going, aren't I?
Fuck you.
I stood up and approached my closet.
***
I had changed into a pair of black ripped jeans, a black shirt and black boots, i combed my hair backwards and carried a brown leather jacket. While dressing up all I kept saying was 'this can't be happening' but it was. I have sneaked out a couple of times back in Seattle but that was a long time ago and now I was doing it again.
I opened my window after turning off the light and looked out to see the distance, I took a deep breathe and climbed out. I held onto the pole outside my window and at that moment I thanked the lord that I was slim, I wrapped myself around the pole and used it to climb down. When I jumped down from it, I heard another thud nearby and looked that way. I heard panting and went closer and behold, Jaxton was outside as well. He was putting on a different outfit from what he was putting on earlier, black pants and a white shirt accompanied by a football jacket.
"Jaxton?" I called in a whisper
He gasped in fear and twirled, once he saw me his jaw dropped. "Dylan?" He called back from n a whisper. "What are you- she called you too, didn't she?"
I nodded. "She's gotta be kidding me."
"Well, let's go before your parents find out we're gone." Jax said. I nodded and followed him, we jogged out silently and went to meet raven who was opposite our house leaning on a car, it wasn't the Ferrari but a red sports car.
"Can't believe I let her talk me into doing this." I said as we walked towards her.
"I sneaked out of a house that isn't mine, that's worse. What if your mother finds out?"
"We'll both be dead, no big deal."
"Don't you think its risky to be out with this car?" Jax said as we approached her, she was putting on a big ass fur coat that looked expensive, bloody lipstick and black stilettos.
"Chill honey, no one can steal my car."
"What happened to your Ferrari?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing," she shrugged. "Decided to take this baby out tonight."
"Why call us separately and ask us to come out?" I asked in a loud whisper.
"It was fun," she smirked. "Now let's go."
"Are you gonna just wear fur?" I asked with a cocked brow. "Even though you look like money."
"No silly," she said and took off her fur, showing a really short black gown.
"Oh, wow!"
"I know." She said and unlocked her car, getting in. "Let's go."
"This doesn't seem like a good idea at all." Jax said with a sigh.
"That makes two people thinking that." I said looking at him.
"Hurry in." She said and we both obeyed.
Sneaking out to a club? Didn't see that coming at all.
••
Raven had been driving for a while, Jaxton kept tapping his fingers on his thighs while looking out the window and sighing continuously.
"Jaxton, would you relax for heaven's sake? Its not the end of the world." Raven said, sighing afterwards as she drove.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It's just that I do this all the time and I am so excited because I sneaked out of a house that isn't mine and I'm not even worried about what might happen when they find out about it so, don't you worry about it at all." Jaxton sarcastically said, earning a smirk from me.
Raven looked at me with a disappointed look. "I liked when Jaxton didn't use sarcasm at all, look what you're teaching our little Jax."
"Hey, it's not my fault." I said, raising my hands a little. "And the boy speaks the truth."
She rolled her eyes. "JaxJax, relax. She won't find out about it, hopefully." She muttered the last part.
"I've never sneaked out before, never. This is like an episode of NCIS." He sighed.
Raven groaned. "Chill boy, the least that could happen is you both being grounded." Raven said as she drove.
I looked at her with furrowed brows and let out a small laugh. "Do you even know what being grounded means in the Dexwell's house?"
"It can't be that bad." She shrugged.
"It's like a curse!" I stated. "You wouldn't understand." I sighed. Being grounded was really like a curse, mom would make you do things beyond your imaginations. It ain't the normal no phone or laptop and stuff, you do chores both for mom and her friends and mom's errand never ends and I mean it.
"I don't wanna get grounded by Bonnie, she can be scary." Jaxton cried. "No offense, Dylan."
"None taken." I shrugged.
"We're here." She said and stooped the car, she took out her lipstick from her purse and repainted her lips. "Okay guys." She said as she got out, we followed as well. I walked over to where she and Jax stood and looked t the club facing us.
"La La Land?" I frowned. "Wow, what an amazing club name."
"I don't wanna." Jax sighed "I've never gone to a club before."
"You're kidding." Raven chuckled.
"I haven't either." I said shaking my head, they both looked at me with furrowed brows as if not believing me. "What? I know I act too exposed but I haven't gone to a club okay?"
"Wow, you guys are still innocent." Raven tsked.
"This isn't good." Jax said, rubbing his palms together.
"You guys are worrying over nothing," Raven said and turned to us. "You both need to relax and free your mind. Trust me, a night out is what you guys need." She paused. "And a guy in your lonely life as well. We've all been through a lot these past few months with Eric and that bitch and Johnafuckingthan and all the bad things we encountered. One night is all I ask for, let's just....have fun." She said with a sigh.
I looked at Jaxton who looked at me at the same time.
"One night," he said and I nodded.
"One night." I agreed. "And with that speech of hers, its kinda hard to day no."
"True." Jax shrugged.
Raven grinned and clapped her hands together. "Now boys, let's go." she twirled and began walking towards the club, she handed a guy who greeted her her car keys with a seductive smile, she didn't stand in the line like every other person did and we followed behind ignoring the people's chants. She smiled at one of the huge bouncers who was putting on an all black outfit. "Hey, Roxy."
"Hey, Miss Frost."
oh so they know her here. Okay.
"I've told you to just call me Raven."
"You look stunning tonight."
"Thank you," she sent him a flirty smile. He looked at us and frowned. "Um, they're with me." She smirked.
Shit, I don't have any fake IDs and I'm just seventeen.
He moved out of the way with a smile. "Have a nice time."
"Thank you." She said and walked in.
"Thanks Roxy." I flashed him a smile and followed Raven in, side by side with Jaxton.
"That just it? No ID?" I asked her in a whisper.
"They know me, they won't ask." She said and walked into a curtain, we followed and behold loud music. The lights were blue and there were so many people, It was just like in the movies. People grinding each other, drinking, smoking. It was a crazy sight.
"Wow,"
"Oh. My. God " Jaxton exclaimed looking around.
"Let's go to the bar." She said and led the way, Jax and I exchanged looks and followed.
This is way past my comfort zone.
Raven took a seat at the bar, Jax sat at her left and I sat at her right. "Tony," she called and the bartender turned to face us, he had black long hair and was well built, unbuttoned sleeveless shirt that showed his six packs. He had a well structured face that out all bartenders I'd seen in movies to shame, he had a dragon tattoo on his right arm and a scorpion on his neck. I did find it kinda cool and plus he was hot and probably in his early twenties, I don't care.
"Hey, Raven!" He grinned at her, showing his perfect white teeth.
"You look hot as ever." She smirked at him.
He chuckled. "You too, always dressed to kill." he winked at her, he looked at Jaxton and then me. He smiled at me catching me off guard, I gave him a half smile. "Who are they?"
"My best friends, Jax and Dylan." She introduced. "Boys meet Tony, he's a very good friend of mine."
Jaxton waved at him a little.
"Hi," he smirked at me.
"Hi." I smiled.
"First time here?"
I nodded. "Yeah,"
He nodded. "So, what can I get y'all?"
"The usual Tony, three glasses this time."
"Okay phoenix." He tapped the table and turned to get them.
"He's hot." I said, staring at his back.
"And single, I think." Raven smirked.
"What's the usual?" Jaxton asked with a frown.
"Yeah, I'm curious too." I frowned as well.
She smirked still. "Chill boys."
"I really hope it's Pepsi." Jax scowled at her.
"This is a bar not a canteen." She rolled her eyes. "It's tequila."
"No," Jaxton shook his head. "I'm jot getting drunk."
"Come on, Jax. It's just tequila."
"I can't handle my drink." He whisper yelled
"I agree with Jaxton," I gave a nod. "I'm not getting drunk."
"Just one drink boys."
"Here you go." Tony kept three small glasses right in front of each of us and poured the drink from a bottle. "Enjoy."
"Thanks Tony." Raven smiled at him.
"I'm not doing this!"
"Jaxton! Just one!"
"One." I repeated, she nodded.
"One."
"Okay, just one." Jax sighed and picked up the glass.
"On the count of three," she smiled. "One," I picked up my glass, sighing.
"Two," I counted.
Jaxton sighed and counted. "Three."
Authors note.
Don't drink!!! 😂
An early update, love me. Many time skips, I know but what was I gonna do along the line? Ugh.
I hope you liked this chapter, tried to make it comical. Don't forget to vote and comment and as we all know, there might be a new love growing.
