Chapter 110.
"Why are we here? Didn't you say the movie starts by eight o'clock? It's five minutes past eight." Jaxton said from the back seat, we were all in Gwen's car, waiting for Mrs. Olson to show up. Robin was already here, he had arrived a few minutes ago and now all we had to do was wait.
"The movie is right here," I answered. "I brought refreshments." I said and pulled out a bag from beside my seat. Gwen gave me a 'what the fuck?' look and I just shrugged. "What? While we wait, shouldn't we at least quench the hunger?"
"He has a point." Jaxton said and I smiled, handing him a milkshake and a burger.
"Do you want or are you just gonna keep looking at me like that?" I asked her. Gwen rolled at her eyes at me and looked away.
"I'm fine. I had junk food yesterday, now where the hell is she?" Gwen asked as she looked around.
"Where the hell is who?" Jaxton asked, he was completely confused. "Guys, who are we waiting for?"
I smirked at the sight of Jaxton's mother walking real quick with her hands in her pocket and making her way towards Robin. "Her." I said before taking a sip from my milkshake.
"What the fuck?" Jaxton leaned closer to get a good look. "What is she...?"
"Shh," Gwen hushed. "We don't want her to know we're here."
Jaxton frowned. "Why? What is she doing at a place like this?" He rhetorically asked and then she stood in front of Robin.
"Who is that guy?" Jaxton asked as he watched.
"Robin Banks." I answered and Jaxton looked at me.
"Who?"
"He's a drug dealer and he's been selling your mother drugs, apparently she's dealing too, she's been dealing for quite a while." I took another sip from my milkshake.
"Wait, wait, I'm... I'm confused." Jaxton said, shaking his head.
Gwen turned to look at him. "You know how your mother always said she works two jobs, night shifts and can't come home?" Gwen asked and Jaxton gave a small nod. "Well, she's been lying, she leaves town. I found out about it and I told Dylan and we investigated, Dylan knew you wouldn't believe us if we told you, so we brought you along."
"My mother....doing drugs? I don't...."
"Just watch." I chimed in. He didn't want to believe and I was glad we had brought him here. I took out my phone and dialed Robin's number, putting it on loud speaker, right there I saw him answer it.
"Hello."
"Just pretend like its another client, don't hang up and put the phone in your breast pocket." I instructed and Jaxton looked at me in disbelief.
"Got it." He said and did as I said. "Sorry, another client upstate."
"That's okay," Jaxton's mother said. "Where the hell are you going that we have to do this deal today?"
"I'm leaving for Barcelona tomorrow, got some folks I got to see urgently." Robin answered.
"Well, hurry the fuck up then. I need to get back home before my kid comes back home." She said and Jaxton gulped, his eyes filled with shock.
"Aiit, where's my money first?" Robin asked and Mrs. Olson sighed frustratedly.
"It's right here," she said patting her bag. "Have I ever owed you before? so tell me, what do you have?"
"The usual stuff; meth, oxy, cocaine, marijuana, ecto, amphetamines." Robin listed and Mrs. Olson smiled.
"Great then,"
"Oh my God," Jaxton's hand clasped his mouth in shock.
"My daughter's all alone at home, I need to hurry back." Mrs. Olson said as she unzipped her bag, ready to take out the cash.
Jaxton's fists were clenched, his face filled with so much rage. He was about to get out and approach her but I stopped him.
"Don't."
"What do you mean don't? I need to find out why she's doing what she's doing?"
"How about you question her when she gets home? She left your sister alone at home, we should get to her first." I stated and he couldn't argue because I was right.
"Shit," he cursed.
"Let's go, Gwen." I said and with a nod, she started the car and drove us back to Jaxton's.
***
The door opened and Mrs. Olson walked in, she seemed surprised that we were back home already and let out a nervous chuckle. "You...guys are back? I thought...you wouldn't be back till like...ten." She said with a fake smile.
Gwen was playing with sofía while I was on my phone and Jaxton was leaning against the wall. Now none of us said nothing in return, sofía got up to go hug her mother but Jaxton stopped her. "Gwen, could you please take her inside?" He requested.
Gwen stood up and smiled at her. "Wanna play subway surfer on my phone?"
Sofía grinned. "Yessss." She chirped and Gwen took her away.
Jaxton slowly approached his mother, his face blank and his heart squeezed by pain. "Where are you coming from, ma?" He asked and placed his hands on his hips as he stood in front of her.
Mrs. Olson blinked. "I uh, I just stepped out for....a few minutes to get something real quick." She was good at lying but the nervousness wreaking from her body could have easily given her away to someone who actually didn't know where she was.
"Really? What was it?" Jaxton asked and folded his arms.
"Um, I-" she trailed off once Jaxton snatched her bag from her. "Jaxton, what the hell are you doing?!! Give me my bag."
Jaxton unzipped it and offloaded everything on the ground, the lipstick, the hairbrush, credit card and drugs.
I smiled and crossed my legs where I sat, now Mrs. Olson didn't think Jaxton would be back, she didn't expect we'd be here, so she was hurrying back to hide it and didn't think there was a need to keep it hidden elsewhere.
"Do you care to explain what these substances are doing in your bag?"
Mrs. Olson swallowed, she still tried to fake a smile. "J-Jaxton, these are just-"
"What? Cocaine, marijuana, Ecto, amphetamine, oxy, methamphetamine?" Jaxton listed, his brows furrowed. "Did the doctor ask you to take these for your back pain and for headaches?" Jaxton sarcastically asked.
Mrs. Olson was beyond shocked that Jaxton knew everyone of them, her lips kept closing and opening like a fish. "Jaxton, I...I." of course she had no words, she had been caught in a lie."
"You're fucking dealing now? What the fuck, mom?! Is this the kinda life you want now? To be some Mafia lady boss that sells drugs and endangers her children's lives?!!!" Jaxton angrily screamed.
"J-Jaxton, please wait I c-can explain." Mrs. Olson stuttered. "It's not what you think."
"What exactly do you wanna say? That you're dealing to make our lives better? Or what? That you were forced to do this? Were you? Do you owe some people money and they made you do this?"
Mrs. Olson gulped, I stared at her suspiciously, Jaxton was giving her ideas on how to cover this up without even knowing and I couldn't let her do this.
"No one pressured her," I spoke before she could say anything. "Apparently she's in love with the job and has a business partner in another town." Now, I knew Jaxton would believe anything I told him because I provided him evidence already.
Mrs. Olson looked at me and then realization hit her that this was all my doing. "This is all you, isn't you? You have been trying to come between you and my son!!" She angrily said as she stormed towards me, I made no move and just comfortably sat with a smile. "You are the reason why my son thinks I am doing drugs."
Before she could reach for me, Jaxton gripped her by the arm and pushed her aside. "You better fucking stay the hell away from him." He warned and she stared at him in disbelief.
"Don't you see what he's doing? He's trying to destroy our family?"
"Is he really?" Jaxton chuckled. "Because you've never really fulfilled your duty as a mother, not once. He only showed me what kind of a person you are, that you haven't even changed, you're still that same lying, manipulating bitch!"
"Jaxton! I will not tolerate you talking to me that way!"
Jaxton laughed. "Or what? You're going to hit me?"
"No, I'm not." She approached him and held his hands with trembling hands. "Listen to me, Jaxton, everything I have done, there is a reason behind it, okay? I love you and-" Jaxton pulled his hand away from hers.
"How many times have I defended you? I fought my best friends because of you, they tried to warn me about you but I didn't think you'd betray my trust again." Jaxton said and then he had that face like he had figured it all out.
"That's why you came back for me, wasn't it? You didn't come back for me because you wanted to, you came back for me because you needed someone to watch sofía while you left town, you didn't want social workers all up in your business because no matter what, I'd always defend you. That was why, wasn't it?" He asked. Mrs. Olson said nothing and just shook her head as she cried.
"Answer me!" He screamed at her and she flinched, taking a step back.
"Hijo, I.." She couldn't deny it and Jaxton scoffed.
"I am such a fool. I am such a big fool." Jaxton said as he ran his hands through his hair frustratedly.
"Son, listen to me."
"No." Jaxton pointed at her angrily. "No! Don't you fucking call me your son because I do not have a mother."
"No! No, Jaxton, don't say that." She cried.
"You fucking left sofía alone, what if something had happened? What if some drug lord came in here and kidnapped her, what if...oh God." Jaxton was shaken.
"Acid." I said and they both looked at me, I got up from the chair and walked to stand beside Jaxton. "The money you owed him, how did you pay him?"
"W-What?" She looked surprised that I knew.
"How did you pay him?" I asked and she gulped nervously.
"I gathered up some money from my shifts."
"Liar." I blankly said. "That wasn't how you paid him, you used Jaxton's college fund, didn't you? You took from the money his father had left him."
Jaxton slowly turned to her in shock. "What is he saying?"
She stood still, the blood drained from her face. "I....I was going to put it back."
"What the fuck?!" Jaxton screamed. "You really are pathetic, aren't you?"
"Jaxton, I-"
"Don't you even come any closer or I will kill you, I swear." Jaxton threatened. "I am leaving with Sofía and you won't do anything about it. I'm taking her and I won't let her suffer the things I did in your hands."
"We're ready." Gwen said as she stepped out carrying Sophia and a bag.
"My daughter stays!" Mrs. Olson said angrily. "None of you are taking my daughter!" She painfully said and turned to Jaxton. "I can't believe you, I t-thought as my son, you'd stand by my side, that you'd take my side no matter what and you're following these people? You plan to abandon me?" She questioned, her throat tightening.
"You abandoned us already!" Jaxton replied. "I was just too blind and naive to realize that."
"You are such a shame, you're a disgrace to this family, Jesús." She sneered and I had to admit we were all shocked at this sudden change. She was trying to manipulate him into staying, into thinking he was a bad son and then coming back with his sister. "You are just like your father, weak and pathetic." She shot and I knew it had hit something in Jaxton, I just hoped he didn't fall for this.
Jaxton remained silent as he stared at her. "Well at least I have a heart and I care about the people around me, just like dad did, you might call that weak but I am okay with that. I don't have to be a completely miserable, worthless, lowlife with no morals or human sympathy." He spat and I blinked. "I don't have to be a disgusting, self centered Hispanic bitch who would trade the love of her kids for drugs, who doesn't care about using her kids for her own selfish gain! Now who's more pathetic?" Jaxton huffed and I smirked.
That was my boy right there, he didn't fall for any of that and boy, was Mrs. Olson hurt by those words.
"Don't you fucking talk to me like that!" Mrs. Olson said as she rose her hand to hit him and I gripped it mid air. She glared at me and tried to free her hand but I didn't let go and tightened my grip on her arm.
"Gwen, take them to the car, I need to have a word with Mrs. Olson." I said and Gwen quickly took them out. Once the door slammed shut, I let go off her arm, she winced in pain as she rubbed it.
"Sorry, I couldn't let you hit my best friend like some psycho bitch." I shrugged.
"This is all your fault."
"Listen carefully, Mrs. Olson. Jaxton and Sofía are gonna live with us from now on and when Jaxton turns eighteen next month, he is going to take custody of sofía and you will do absolutely nothing about it. We'll take care of the both of them and you, you won't say shit."
Mrs. Olson laughed. "You must be insane to think this was a topic to have a discussion over. Over my dead body will I let Jaxton take custody of my daughter. They'll both come back."
"You see that's where you're wrong," I smiled. "They are not coming back, I know you are not a fan of Jaxton because the truth is, you never actually loved his father, I mean the love probably died." I shrugged. "Listen, Daniella, if you don't disappear and leave them alone, I have to promise you that you will regret it and it will only be on you and no one else. You'd end up choosing death over the horrible pain."
"Oh yeah," she chuckled. "And what are you going to do, you fucking snake? Tell the cops I'm a drug dealer?"
"Nah, not you." I chuckled. "Jeremy."
And at the mention of that name, Jaxton's mother paled, surprise clouded her face. I gasped. "What now? Did i shock you? Don't you have any words anymore, Mrs. Olson?" I smiled.
"Y-You....you know Jeremy? How did you...?"
"Of course, I know about Jeremy. Your other son whom you happen to love more, the son that manipulates you into doing whatever he wants, using your love against you since you abandoned him. Meanwhile the son here who actually loves you gets treated like crap and gets deceived continuously which is really pathetic. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk." I shook my head.
"I know where Jeremy lives and I know everything about your other son, Jaxton's half brother. And if you ever think of trying to ever hurt Jaxton's feelings again, if you think of trying to come back into their lives then I'll haunt him down and make sure he spends at least ten years behind bars and maybe you'd be dead by then. You'd lose the son you so badly want to be with. I will make him suffer like you made Jaxton suffer and I will make everything perish right before your eyes and Jeremy will have no choice but to hate you again, he'll despise you so much the sight of your face would make him want to murder you."
Mrs. Olson gulped, her lips trembling. "You're bluffing."
"Am I? Because after all these time, I thought you'd know me by now."
"D-Don't hurt him."
"Then disappear." I said as I began to head for the door. "Jaxton doesn't need you and neither does sofía, today, you've lost them both and that's how it is going to be." I said and turned to her with a smile. "You should probably leave town."
"You are one evil son of a bitch."
I chuckled slightly. "I've heard worse." I said as I walked on top her drugs and headed for the door. "And I know you don't want Jaxton to know about him," I turned to her. "Right?"
Her expression answered it all, she wanted it to be kept a secret, I smiled and gave her a small nod. "I won't tell Jaxton about Jeremy because I don't want him hurting himself because his mother is full of shit and secrets, so that's your plus side. And yeah, you were right earlier, this wasn't a topic that needed a discussion, Mrs. Olson. This right here is an order." I said before slamming the door shut and walking to the car.
"What'd she say?" Gwen asked as I got in.
"Let's just say, they won't ever get to see her again." I answered as I buckled my seatbelt. "They're safe."
***
I unlocked the door and let them in, locking it behind me.
"Jaxton?" Mother called surprisingly as she approached us with grandma Athena beside her. "Why do you have such long faces? What happened?"
"I'm sorry," Jaxton sobbed as he walked over to her. "I never should have left." He said and hugged her tightly, crying on her shoulder.
"Sweetie, what happened?" Grandma Athena asked, they both looked at me for an answer and I shrugged.
"His mother, she didn't change even for a bit." I answered and looked at Gwen who was carrying a confused Sofía.
"Oh shit." Mom cursed and patted his back gently. "Hey, hey, it's okay."
"Jaxton, honey," Grandma Athena called with a smile. "You are always welcome here, no matter what." She said as he stared at her with teary eyes. "Always," she wiped his tears. "You both had dinner yet?"
Jaxton shook his head. "No, but-"
"Well good thing I made a lot," mom cut him off and smiled. "And you know you can count on my food. Go freshen up, okay, then you come down for dinner."
"And I'll take her." Grandma said as she approached Gwen. "Hi, sweetie." She sweetly said as she carried sofía. "Oh my God, you're so heavy, how old are you?"
"Five." She answered and grandma Athena gasped.
"You're a big girl."
Sofía smiled. "I like your hair."
"Well thank you, I think we'll get along just fine. You'll share my room with me." She said as Gwen handed her sofía's things. Grandma Athena flashed her a smile of appreciation. "Thanks sweetie." She said before heading up the stairs.
"Jaxton will sleep with me." I offered. "He can't stay in the other room cause it's a nursery now. Go freshen up, JaxJax, I'll meet you upstairs." I said, he gave a small nod and walked away.
"What really happened?" Mom asked as she walked towards us.
"Jaxton's mother has been....doing drugs," Gwen answered.
"Yeah, she leaves town almost all the time and lied she was doing two jobs. She's been lying and using him from the beginning." I continued.
"That fucking Hispanic bitch." Mom sneered.
"Wait till you hear the big secret." Gwen said and mom's brows knitted.
"What is it?"
"Mrs. Olson has a-"
"Gwen," I called, interrupting her. "Seriously?"
"Shit, I thought we could tell her."
"Tell me what?" Mom inquired.
"Nothing." I shook my head.
"Dylan, I think it's best you tell me because if I investigate and find out myself then that might be worst." Mom said, arching her left brow.
"No matter of investigation can tell you what we know." I chuckled softly.
"Dylan, let's just tell her." Gwen sighed. "An adult should probably know."
"Know what? Seriously, guys, I'm starting to get pissed." Mom said and folded her arms.
I cursed under my breath. "Mrs. Olson has another son." I said in a whisper.
"What?" Her eyes bulged out. "Wait, older or younger than Jaxton?"
"Older." Gwen answered. "Twenty three, I think."
"Shit. Does Jaxton know?"
"No. And it stays like that." I firmly said.
"Why would you want to hide such a thing from Jaxton?" She questioned. "He should know that he has a brother."
"Look at him, mom. He's sad and broken from all this. Do you think he can take the news of him having a brother whom his mother loves and cherishes more? That's why she despises him? Do I tell him that his mother had one more secret she never wanted him to know so the boys don't find each other? Or that Jeremy knows about him and hasn't reached out because he probably hates Jaxton without even knowing him? Mom, I am not doing that. I am not letting him go through any other emotional trauma, enough is enough. Jaxton's been through hell and he shouldn't get to feel suffering anymore." I said and they just stared at me in silence.
"Jaxton or you?" Mom asked. "Because sounds a lot like you're talking about yourself." She said and I gulped.
"I would do anything to protect Jaxton, no matter what. Jaxton turns eighteen next month, he'll then take custody of his sister and be her legal guardian."
"Woah, Dylan." Mom stared at me in surprise. "What happens when Jaxton goes to college? Will he take her along?"
"Mrs. Olson shouldn't have sofía, she's only going to go through the same shit Jaxton did, the same emotional blackmail. The bitch fucking left the girl alone to go get some drugs for dear Jeremy." I stated.
"You mom sort of has a point," Gwen said. "What if Mrs. Olson objects and comes back for Sofía?"
"Don't worry about that, she's not coming back, she wouldn't." I huffed.
Mom looked at me for the longest time and frowned. "What did you do?"
"Nothing. I only told her I'd destroy her in the way I knew best, I don't give a shit about Jeremy because I don't even know the guy, so I'll ruin her life by ruining his, and then case closed. He'll hate her forever and she won't be able to live with herself knowing it was all her fault." I smiled.
"Were you bluffing?" Gwen asked and I scoffed.
"Maybe. Maybe not. It doesn't matter." I said, my as folded. "Like I said, they're safe."
***
"Hey," I said softly and Jaxton looked up at me from my bed where he sat. "You okay?" I asked as I walked in.
"I don't know." He muttered.
"You're here now, no matter what, we won't let any harm come to you or Sofía, I promise." I said as I walked over to the bed, sitting across him.
"But why me? Why does bad things always have to happen to me?" He asked, softly.
"Maybe it's because we are close," I spoke. "All three of us, maybe we're cursed and as we got together, the bad things are meant to happen continuously and break us."
"Like the charmed ones?" Jaxton asked and I chuckled.
"Exactly."
He laughed softly. "I'm sorry." He apologized all of a sudden.
I frowned. "For what?"
"Not believing you when you told me she could never change."
I sighed. "Well, it's nothing."
"I said hurtful things, I listened to her and I listened to Johnathan and I thought you were trying to control me back then and have me do everything you wanted, meanwhile all you wanted to do was look out for me and I am so so sorry." He apologize, his voice breaking.
"Hey, hey, it's okay." I assured him. "I love you and that's what matters, you're my best friend and I will always look out for you." I said, offering him a warm smile. "I would have said I told you so but I don't think this is the right time to use that."
Jaxton chuckled. "No."
"Figured." I smiled. "I so wanted to slap you that day I threw you out."
Jaxton hissed. "If you had slapped me with that much rage in your blood, my head would have gone to the back." He said and we both laughed.
"I mean, you would have deserved it. You said Johnathan was better than me, I can't imagine a worst insult." I sighed.
"In my defence, it's all Judas's fault, I didn't mean that, you're a way better person."
"I know!!" I said in a voice that screamed 'of fucking course.'
Jaxton snickered and just stared at me, I frowned at him.
"What's with the look?"
"Nothing, i just.... This is the Dylan I remember, this one right here, the lively, happy one." He said and my smile slowly vanished. I looked away from him and swallowed, I blinked and let out a small sigh.
"You should wear something of mine tonight since we kinda are the same size," I said as I stood up. "Tomorrow, I'll help you go get your stuffs from your house, dinner's ready, I'll meet you downstairs, mom made a feast." I said as I exited the room, closing the door behind me.
"Where's Jaxton?" Mom asked as I approached the dinning.
"He's coming." I answered.
"Ah, yes, right on time." Dad voice filled the house. I turned to see him with a smile on his face as he approached us. "Hey, kiddo."
"Don't kiddo me." I said as he ruffled my hair. Dad looked at the table and his brows rose.
"Is today someone's birthday?" He questioned and mom chuckled.
"We have guests."
Dad frowned. "My parents are in town?" He asked as he kissed mom.
"Go freshen up Matthew, your parents aren't here." Grandma Athena said with a slight chuckle.
"Um, who's this?" Dad asked as he stared at sofía in confusion.
"This is Sofía," mom introduced. "Jaxton's little sister."
Dad looked from her to mom, then grandma Athena and finally at me before sighing in realization. "Shit, that bitch."
"Mmhmm." Mom nodded.
"Hey, Sofía." Dad called with a smile. "Welcome to our home, I hope no one's giving you any trouble?"
Sofía shook her head with a smile. "No, no, they are all really nice."
"And who's that?" He asked, referring to her teddy bear which she held against her chest.
"His name is Mr. Bear." She said as she held him close.
"Of course it is," Dad muttered and mom shot him a look, making me smile. "Well, I'll go freshen up and I'll be down in five. Just five minutes." He said before rushing up.
***
We had dinner, it should have ended up awkward but Mom and Dad and Grandma Athena refused to let them feel like something happened, they refused to let them live in that moment and seeing Sofía smile the way she did was uplifting and I knew Jaxton was dying in sadness and guilt of how he treated me but It was going to be fine, he was here now.
"Dylan," Jaxton called softly. We were both laying on my bed, I laid on my back and stared at my ceiling while Jaxton laid on his side, his back facing me."
"Hmm?" I answered.
"You awake?"
"If I wasn't I wouldn't say hmm."
Jaxton shifted and laid in the same position as me, staring up at the ceiling. "Do you believe in ghosts?"
"Demons too." I answered.
"Do you think my Dad's seeing everything that's happening to me?" He asked and I remained silent. "I guess not."
"He is watching you, Jaxton, I don't think he actually ever left your side."
"Then how come since he left, my life just went downhill? Everything is just so wrong and nothing, nothing seems to be going right." He asked and I glanced at him before looking back at the ceiling.
"Maybe because you always depended on him to make everything better, he always had your world on his shoulders, and now he's gone, you let the world crash on you because you think you can't do anything yourself." I said and looked at him. "Accurate?" I asked.
Jaxton turned his head to look at me and sighed. "I wish you were wrong." He said and looked back at the ceiling. "I don't know how to do this. I know I shouldn't talk about it but I can't help it "
"It's okay to talk, doesn't mean you're weak."
Jaxton snorted. "An advice from someone that doesn't talk because he thinks it makes him weak."
"We both know that isn't true."
"Isn't it? Because you turned to Killer Frost overnight and never talk about how you're feeling."
"Because there is nothing to talk about, Jaxton. It's that simple, I thought we were talking about you?"
"We can also talk about you, I really need a distraction." Jaxton murmured.
"Do you know vultures are originally Bald? Like they get born with no hair." I said and I could feel him frown.
"Yeah, everyone kinda knows that."
"Imagine being born bald and having to grow up bald for like."
"Shit." He cursed. "That's some tough something." Jaxton chuckled slightly.
"But they don't really care, they love being bald and they're proud of it, they are even deadly and feared." I said, placing my hand on my stomach. "You should be a vulture, Jaxton."
"I should go bald?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.
"No, doofus. More like you shouldn't let your current situation bring you down, you shouldn't care about what people say about you and if they call you names, you shouldn't stop being strong and fight for what you believe in." I explained.
"Wow." Jaxton muttered. "You just made vultures seem so cool." He said and I smiled.
"They are cool." I said and looked at him. "You should really get some sleep."
"You too. If I'm right, you're also cursed, like me, so you need that sleep too." He said and I cocked my head to the side, looking at him. He flashed me a small smile and shrugged, I smiled back and looked back at the ceiling.
"Goodnight, Jaxton."
"Goodnight, Dylan."
***
"Jaxton, we have to go, we're gonna be late." I yelled from the living room, Jaxton was with Grandma Athena in the kitchen, having the special tea she made.
Special tea.
Special mistake.
I smiled, but only for a second.
"Five more minutes." He yelled back and I rolled my eyes.
"Calm down, Eros." Mom said as she walked down the stairs with Davina in her arms. "Why the hurry?"
"I can't be late, I'm running for school president, what kind of a candidate would I be if I'm late?"
Mom blinked. "Wait, what? You're....running for...." She blinked again. "You?"
I nodded. "I need it for college." I said and turned my attention back to the kitchen. "JAXTON!" I roared and he flinched.
"Shit, coming." He said and gave Grandma Athena a hug before running to me as he hung his backpack against his shoulder. "Sorry, sorry."
"Let's go."
"I'll take Soph to school, you don't worry, just go before Dylan beheads you." Mom said, Jaxton smiled in response and hugged her.
"Thank you so much, I wish I could repay you in some way."
Mom smiled back and placed a hand on his cheek. "You can, by being happy." She said and he looked down and smiled, nodding.
"Shouldn't be hard, I've got this demon by my side." He said, referring to me.
"Let's go." I grabbed him by the arm and pulled him along with me as he said his farewells. We walked out of the house, Jaxton shutting the door as I went ahead. "Where the hell is Jon?" I sighed.
"Jon?" Jaxton questioned, confused.
"Yeah, he texted me, he's picking us up and he's not here." I answered as I looked around, I picked up my phone to call him while I waited when Jaxton spoke.
"No need, he's here." He said and I turned to my left to see Jon's jeep.
I sighed. "Right on time." I said and placed my phone in my jacket pocket.
Jon parked right in front of us and rolled down the windows. "Hello, sunshines."
"We need to go." I said. I was about to go over to the passenger's seat when I noticed someone was sitting there.
He was sitting there.
Henry. He was dressed in black pants and a black fitted top that brought out his entire muscles and stupid broad chest.
I looked away from him and at Jon, confused as hell. "What is this? What is he doing in your car?"
"Oh," Jon blinked. "Uh, his car broke down in the middle of the road and uh, he needed a ride since his phone is dead too and he can't call anyone. So, I gave him a lift and called a mechanic for him." Jon said and smiled at me.
I stared at him, hoping to sniff out some sort of lie but I was too angry, seeing his face first thing in the morning disturbed me.
"Well then, I guess I'll walk." I flashed him a smile as well and began to walk down the street.
"Dylan!" Jaxton called. "Don't be stupid! You're gonna be late to school and you know how much you need to become class president! What kind of a candidate would you be if you were late?!" He asked, using my words against me.
I halted, clenching my fists angrily. He was fucking right, I needed to be early today, I needed to show everyone how much I needed to be student body president and I had to be early. I hated this. I hated this! Henry was gonna be in the same car as me.
Fuck!
I turned and Jaxton flashed me an uneasy smile, I made my way back to the car and Henry was about to leave the passengers seat and head to the back but I walked past him and went to the back, sitting with Jaxton. He said nothing and returned to the passengers seat.
"Well then, let's go." Jon said with a smile and began to drive.
"Jon," Henry called and Jon hummed in reply. "Do you have the song Helium?"
"By Sia?" He asked and Henry nodded. "Yeah, I think so." He said and plugged his phone to the car as he drove, few seconds later the song began.
"I really love this song." Jon said as he drove and I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop myself from listening and mentally singing and somehow, today, the lyrics felt different.
I'm giving my all, and I know peace will come
I never wanted to meet someone.
Yeah I wanted to play out, thought I could do all this on my own,
But even super woman sometimes needs a superman song
Help me out of this hell
Your love, lifts me up like helium
Your love, lifts me up when I'm down down down.
I looked up at the front mirror and my eyes met his, he was also watching me. I quickly looked away and stared our the window.
When I hit the ground, you're all I need.
And if you let go, I'll float towards the sun
I'm stronger cause you fill me up.
Damn you, Sia.
Seriously, fuck you, Jon.

We finally arrived at school and I was the first to get out, I slammed the door shut and was already leaving when Henry opened his own door, blocking my way and making me stop instantly. I turned my gaze to him and he smiled softly.
"Sorry, I didn't see you there." He said and I couldn't help but glare daggers at him. I didn't bother replying him as he got out right in front of me, he rose his hands to stretch and my eyes found it's way to his V-shape.
I swallowed and quickly looked away and turned to Jaxton. "Come on, let's go." I said and walked past Henry and into the doors with Jaxton running after me since I was walking extremely fast.
I hated him. Everything about him.
"You okay?" Jaxton asked as he walked beside me.
"Do I look like I am not okay?" I asked, my tone coming out a little harsh.
"Uh, sort of."
I took in a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I'm fine, I just....hate being around him." I grimaced.
"Shit." Jaxton suddenly cursed and I looked at him.
"What?"
"Raven." He said and I looked ahead to see her dressed in a blue short skirt, a white shirt, a black suit jacket and long white socks.
"Well, she looks good."
"No, not her-her. Her team!" Jaxton mentioned and I looked around her to see her team placing her campaign posters on my own.
"What the fuck?" I muttered in shock.
"She's covering yours with hers."
"Fucking bitch." I snarled and made my way towards her. "What the fuck, Raven?"
She turned to me, her now curly red hair flinging backwards. She flashed me a smile and shrugged as if she didn't know what I was talking about.
"Good morning, Dylan."
"What do you think you're doing?"
"Putting up posters."
"Yeah, but you're covering up mine."
She nodded, smiling. "You did say this was war and I should bring my A game. Since we both want this post, it would only be fair if I do everything I can to get it, I will admit that you are competition."
I huffed. "You really wanna play this game? Raven, Jon and I spent hours doing those posters and-"
"And I covered them. You proclaimed war, I'm only playing my part." She smiled and I clenched my fists angrily.
"Raven, that is fucking wrong, you're not playing fair." Jaxton said and Gwen chuckled.
"Nothing is fair in life, love." Gwen tsked.
"I also helped clear the trash." Raven shrugged. "What are you gonna do about it? I took out all your posters for you."
I stared at her and around, I noticed some students were staring. I frowned and looked back at her, while Jaxton spoke angrily to her, I couldn't help but smile and furrow my brows at her.
"Jaxton, that's okay." I said, patting his back. "I understand that you needed some space for your campaign and you can use all of mine if your work." I said and they all frowned at me.
"What?" Jaxton looked at me like I was crazy.
"I'm just sad you didn't tell me beforehand that you needed to take down my posters and put yours up so you could win and I'd lose, but I understand, I'll find somewhere else." I said and gripped Jaxton's hand, I turned and walked away.
"What the fuck was that?!" Jaxton asked me but I didn't reply until we got to my locker. "Dylan, she took down your posters, why didn't you take down hers?"
I smiled. "Because then I'd lose. Listen," I said and lowered mg voice. "Raven had a plan. She was trying to make me snap, make me say the wrong thing and scare the students, she was trying to have me turn their votes for me into hers, because she knew if I snapped then I wasn't going to stop, I'd keep going which would lead to her victory."
"Shit, how did you...how did you figure that out?"
"You act like you just knew me yesterday. I watched her. Raven would only do such for a little push and then leave the rest to me." I smiled. "I did tell her to bring her A game and she is, but she is playing dirty. So, I've turned the tables now you just watch how this plays out."
"Wow, this is...."
"Everything. Right now, I just need something to lift me up, to about ten points higher then Raven." I said as I began to think.
"Oh, oh," Jaxton snapped his fingers and grinned. "You have never, ever been to our lgbtq club."
I rolled my eyes. "Jaxton, I'm gay, it doesn't mean I have to join a gay cult."
"Shut up, it's not a cult. Listen, some of them look up to you, sure some are scared of you but they still look up to you. So if you could show up, say some words to them," he looked at me, waiting for me to finish.
"Then I win their hearts and votes."
"Exactly."
"So all I gotta do is connect with them." I smirked.
"Exactly."
"You're smart."
Jaxton shrugged. "I won't have straight A's if I wasn't."
"When's your next cult meeting?"
"Tomorrow, but I can shift it to lunch today."
"People would leave their food?" I frowned.
"If they hear you'd be stepping foot there."
"Why me? You're making me feel like Beyoncé."
"Are you kidding?" Jaxton chuckled. "You fucking got shot and survived, you have a psycho ex and you have....bad history but still, you helped take care of Eric who had been tormenting them and Johnathan, you're like the lgbtq character everyone loves. The main character in a movie that people just can't unlove even though he can be annoying."
"So sweet."
"The point is, you're the Stefan Salvatore of our school, except gay. You're the cute, tall, hot, gay kid from degrassi, that's how you are in Eastwood. A mix of Klaus Michaelson, Katherine Pierce, Blaine from glee, you are-"
"Jaxton, I get it, I'm Dylan Dexwell."
"Exactly." Jaxton grinned, and I rolled my eyes as I opened my locker.
"Fine, lunch then."
"Awesome, I'll have my assistants spread the word."
I looked into my locker and my brows knitted in confusion at what I saw.
"Why do you look like the CIA contacted you to tell you your job in Eastwood is over?" Jaxton asked. I took out the bouquet of black roses sitting in my locker.
"Someone left some witch healing treatment in my locker." I said and showed him the black roses.
"Wow, they are....black?. What the hell?" He blinked.
"What? I kinda like them." I said with a smile and sniffed them. The fact that the roses were black instead of red were cute, I'm not gonna lie.
"Of course you'd like such." He muttered. "Any note?" He asked and I looked back into my locker, I looked around and then I found a white small envelope.
"Yeah, I guess." I said and took it out, I handed the flowers to Jaxton and opened the envelope, I took out the paper and read out. "I knew you'd smile once you saw the flowers, I know you still hate me and I'm sorry. Please give me one more chance to prove that violet aren't blue."
Jaxton chuckled slightly. "Okay that was kinda funny. Who wrote that?"
I looked up from the locker and down the hall and there stood Henry, resting against his locker and looking at me with a small smile.
"Who else?" I said and grabbed the flowers from Jaxton who was sniffing them. I walked to the trash, flashed Henry a smile and threw the flowers and the paper into it. His smile slowly vanished and I made my way back to Jaxton.
"Um, t-that was rude."
"So is breaking into my locker and leaving that." I said and took out a paper before slamming my locker shut and walking away.
***
"Hey," Raven called as she suddenly sat beside me as I packed my books together since class was over.
"What's up?"
"Look, I am so so sorry for what I did this morning, I just....let it get over my head."
"No, no, it's okay, I get it." I replied, smiling at her.
"You're not mad?"
I snorted. "Why would I be? Do I have a reason to be mad?" I asked and she blinked.
"Um, no, no. I'll uh, I'll see you at lunch." She said and stood up, walking out.
I smirked and turned my gaze to Jon who sat beside me, he furrowed his brows at me knowingly and I gave him a nod. He nodded in understanding and stood up, grabbed his backpack and walked out quickly.
I sighed and stood up, walking out as well with my backpack. Once I walked out the door, I suddenly bumped into someone, hitting my forehead against his. I winced in pain as my books fell and my hand found it's way to my forehead.
"Ow!" I cried as I squatted to pick my books.
"Shit, I'm sorry." The voice said and squatted down as well, helping me out.
I froze and looked up to see green eyes staring back at me. "What the fuck?" I sighed, frustratedly. "I don't need your help, don't touch my things, I'll take care of them."
"Dylan, let me help you."
I glared at him. "I didn't ask for your help, did I?"
"Calm down and lower your voice, Dylan. You're running for class president, you don't wanna argue with me like this and let out a bad vibe."
I swallowed.
Why was he everywhere and why was he right?
"Well, fuck you." I whisper yelled as I grabbed my books from him harshly.
"Listen,"
"I don't need your apology, Henry." I said as I stood up.
"I'm not apologizing." He said and stood up as well.
"Well then,"
"Listen, you're running for class president, if you wanna win you have to gain the trust of the people that don't trust you, you can-"
"Excuse me," I cut him off, gobsmacked at his audacity to give me advice. "I don't remember asking for your opinion, and why the hell should I listen to you?"
"Because I know what can help you," he said and furrowed his brows at me.
"I'm smart, I can figure that out." I said and was about to leave when he spoke, stopping me.
"Don't forget everyone here is still a teenager who enjoys musicals and all that stuff, you could....have a little something like that outside the school."
I huffed and turned to him. "That's your brilliant idea? High school musical? What are you, eight?"
"teen." He added. "And trust me, when you do that, people will get to know you aren't just cold, their new president won't be over serious but fun as well, show them the fun side."
I remained silent.
"If you don't like that idea, I understand, I'll just go pitch it to Raven." He said and with a shrug, walked past me.
Shit. Shit. Shit. shit. Shit.
Dylan, don't do it. Don't listen to him. It's a bad idea! High school musical? What the hell? No!
Yes! You know this is what teenagers like! A little bit of fun and by little, like 75% of it.
"Shit." I sighed and turned to face him. "Don't tell her."
He stopped and turned to me. "So, you'll take the advice?"
"It's stupid. Really stupid."
Henry gave a small nod.
"But I'll think about it."
He smiled softly. "I can help with some songs and—"
"I have friends for that. Thanks." I said and walked away.
***
"So, what do you think?" I asked, looking at him.
"That is not a bad idea, it only shows that you are not getting in position to just....be cold and too serious to the point they might fear you later, you're showing them that you're actually fun too! I like it, genius idea." Jaxton answered with an excited grin while we walked.
I had pitched Henry's idea to him and he actually liked it. Dang it! I knew it was also good, I just didn't want to admit it
"How did you come up with that in this your humanity switched off state?" He asked and I rolled my eyes, sighing afterwards.
"I didn't," I said and looked at him. "Henry told me."
Jaxton's brows knitted quickly. "Henry? Wait, you guys are now....back to speaking?"
"No." I snapped my fingers at him. "He just....bumped into me and then pitched his stupid idea which isn't stupid and now if I don't do it quick, Raven might beat me to it."
"Well, his idea isn't stupid and you just gotta go with it."
"Fuck. I hate him."
"Yeah, but you do want to win, right?" Jaxton asked and just as I was about to answer, Raven appeared in our middle, pushing us aside slightly to give her room.
"Sorry. Guys, I need your help."
"What happened?" Jaxton asked.
"My father....he found out about Zach and wants to meet him!" She announced, sounding terrified.
"Okay, what's the big deal?" Jaxton asked, confused.
"Racist." I answered as we walked.
"Oh, eww." Jaxton grimaced.
"What do I do? He asked me to bring him to dinner tomorrow."
"Well, do just that." I shrugged.
"You just explained why I can't. He's gonna say things that will make Zach think twice about talking to me ever again." Raven murmured and I halted, turning to face her.
"He's your father. You're turning eighteen soon, when are you gonna stand up to him? You might be scared of him and that is understandable, but you wanna be with Zach, right?" I asked and she nodded. "Then stand up for him. Take his side and do what you need to as a girlfriend, if he throws one word at him then take it for him and throw it back at your father, it's as simple as ABC." I shrugged.
"You say it like it's simple." Jaxton said and I chuckled
"It is simple."
Raven sighed. "I guess you're right, I should calm down and just....everything will work out."
"Did she listen to anything you just said?" Jaxton asked and I sighed, walking ahead.
"What the fuck?!" Raven exclaimed and I turned to her.
"What?" I asked, frowning.
"My posters!!" She screamed and approached one of them. "Who the hell did this?" She asked as she stared at it in horror, she moved ahead and saw they had all been destroyed.
Raven's posters had a red paint sprayed on it with the words bully written on it, fake, scary and a large x on her face, every of her poster had been destroyed.
"What the hell?" I frowned as I went through one of them.
"I spent money on this!" She cried angrily and tore one of the wall.
"Guys!" I turned to every student in the hallway. "This whole thing is wrong, whoever did this should definitely apologize to her. Bullying is not something we should all acknowledge, Raven might have her bad moments but is this really the way to approach the situation? What makes you different from her? Or any other bully if we react this way? I know, whosoever did this thought it was a good way of having justice but I don't think this is the right way to approach certain situations." I shrugged. "We're only making the school worse and becoming what we hate the most, now we don't wanna be the virus we are trying to get rid of, are we?" I questioned.
"She was mean to you this morning, how can you still defend her?" A boy asked, sounding surprised that I was taking her side.
"He's right," the girl beside him said. "I saw what she did to you this morning, I mean...everyone kinda knows, you just smiled and looked at the bright side," she said and looked at Raven. "Maybe she deserved this and more."
"Bitch, I will cut you." Raven retorted and I looked at her.
"Stop." I said and turned back to them. "She's my best friend, she's not the best person in the world but she's amazing, and If I am to be the president, I have to lead by example. If I am going to stop bullying then why should I bully her back?" I rhetorically asked him. He looked at the girl beside him and gave me a small nod that said he agreed with me.
"You kinda have a point, you're not all that bad." He said with a smile.
"You are so nice." A girl said, grinning widely at me.
"You definitely have my vote, Dylan." A girl said with a smile before walking away.
I smiled at her and slowly turned to Raven, she walked up to me, a knowing look on her face.
"Dylan, this doesn't add up."
"What do you mean?"
"Tell me it wasn't you who did this to my posters."
"Raven, what are you insinuating?" I asked with a soft chuckle.
"He just saved your ass from humiliation." Jaxton said and Raven turned to him.
"Or, just turned this into his favor." She said and looked back at me. "Did you do this?" She asked as student all walked to their next class.
I dramatical gasped. "Me?" I chuckled. "Yes." I whispered.
"What the hell, Dylan? You're preaching to the kids not to do what you're doing."
"I didn't do anything, Rave. I just turned your game into mine and took control, now people will vote for me all because of you. I knew what you were up to this morning, trying to get me to snap so you could get all the votes." I said with a chuckle and she gulped. "I'm not stupid, Raven, I will bring you down to the level you should be at when you try to come at me."
"Dylan-"
"You ever heard of Pandora? The woman whom the gods gave a jar containing all the evil of the world? You should know her because she is quite famous. Now, imagine I am Pandora and I have that jar," I said and took a step towards her. "Do not make me open it." I said and patted her shoulder before walking away.
***
I was in the library, reading and writing some notes when someone sat beside me. I stopped for a second, sighing. "What does a guy have to do to get some time alone from people?" I rhetorically asked and looked at the boy sitting with a smile. "Can I help you, Zach."
"Hey, I just thought...you know, we haven't talked in a while."
"You mean since your best friend cheated on me with a Hispanic bitch who dies after the second episode of a telemundo show that has to do with drugs and guns and whores?" I asked as I went back to writing.
"Well, when you put it like that," he chuckled softly. I dropped my pen and looked back at him.
"What do you want, Zach?" I enquired.
"I just thought we need to talk." He shrugged.
"As long as you don't have asthma and have one week left before you stop breathing and become deceased, turning white before your body rots while you're six feet under the ground and your soul in hell for treating women like shit and sleeping with half the girls in Eastwood high then I don't see why we should sit and talk, black Zach Efron." I said in one breath.
He blinked twice. "Wow."
"You're only here if you want something so spill, I don't have much time."
"Okay," he cleared his throat. "I was thinking, uh, Henry didn't really mean to do what he did, you see he really loves you and-"
"I'm gonna stop you right there," I said, cutting him off. "This isn't a game of chess or a game or Minecraft where once the game is over you can easily start afresh and it continues from where you stopped before you lost. This is fucking real life and if you think Henry and I will just go back to the way things were then you better get a new brain because this is as simple as it can get."
Zach slowly arched his brows at me. "Why does it feel like I'm fucking having a conversation with Van Helsing right now?"
"Maybe because I'm this close to pulling out your eye from their sockets and snapping your neck, so if you would please leave me the hell alone, we have the S.A.Ts coming up soon and I'm not gonna fail because of any of you." I stated.
"What are you doing?" He asked and I frowned at him. "This whole....mask thing, this you that you built, this wall."
"There are no walls, Zach Thunderman, I don't need to be miserable and if me being fine means I'm having a wall up then so be it. Did Henry ask you to come talk to me so I could take him back?"
"What? No! He doesn't even know I'm talking to you."
"That makes sense, he wouldn't acknowledge such stupidity." I said and went back to my books.
"Why won't you forgive him?" He asked and I dramatically sighed again. "He's sorry. He didn't mean for what happened to happen, he-"
"Zach," I stopped him.
"No, listen," he cut me off. "When Jay Z cheated on Beyoncé, she forgive him."
"Yeah, after releasing the best album of the decade, Lemonade." I agreed. "Could you at least allow me to drop an album first?"
"When is that happening?"
"How about never? Sounds good? I think so too." I flashed him a fake smile.
Zach sighed. "You really are something else."
"I've heard that before."
"Shh! You need to be quiet." The librarian said and I looked up at her. "I will fucking slit all your cats throats if you don't walk away."
She gave me a horrified look, swallowed and walked away. I looked at a shocked Zach, packed my things and stood up. "You can have the table." I said and walked away.
I headed straight to the bathroom, my mind all over the place. I pushed the door open and Jaxton flinched in fear, he quickly looked away and wiped off his tears. "Uh," he chuckled. "Sorry, I had something in my eye earlier and it won't get out." He said as he turned on the tap.
"What? Emotions?" I asked as the door closed.
Jaxton let out a fake laugh. "Dust." He said as he washed his face.
"Jaxton, you know you don't need to lie to me." I said as I approached him.
"I'm not lying." He said, still fake smiling. I gripped his arm and spun him around to face me but he wouldn't look me in the eye.
"Your life isn't over, Jaxton. Your life isn't ruined and if she doesn't love you and used you the way she did, it's her loss because you are an amazing son. You are the child every parent would wish for, every friend would beg Satan for, you're the person everyone wants in their life which makes you damn precious and unique. I know it hurts and I don't expect you to get over it that easily but the sooner you accept that she isn't good for you and you are better off without her, the better. She was everything toxic and she was only going to pull you down, no mother should ever do such to her child." I said and he looked up at me with teary eyes.
"Fuck her. Fuck her. You're a badass French speaking bitch." I said and he laughed.
"For the millionth time, it's Spanish, asshole." He corrected.
"Well, at least it got you smiling." I said, shrugging with one shoulder. He nodded and hugged me instantly, he buried his face in my shoulder and sobbed, I patted his back softly and let him cry because he needed to, after all, he felt betrayed.
Betrayal was a fucking sin.
****
"Where the fuck is Jaxton?" I groaned as I waited for him, school was over and he was no where to be found. Everyone was already running home and I couldn't blame them, it was November and the sky was getting covered with dark clouds. How was it about to fucking rain at this time? Did it rain in November? What the fuck? I hugged as myself while I waited, watching the halls for him.
About twenty minutes later he wasn't out, I angrily took out my phone and dialed the jackass's number who had asked me to wait and begged me not to leave without him.
"Dylan! Hey!"
"Where the hell are you?"
"Oh shit! Are you still at school?"
"Why are you asking that like you've left?" I asked, my brows puckering.
"Um," he nervously chuckled. "I am so so sorry, I already left, I forgot, I swear."
"What the fuck, Jaxton?!" I bellowed.
"I am so sorry, I forgot to tell you. Dominic came over and he picked me up and I forgot to tell you, I just....haven't been myself and I've been mad and-"
"Jaxton, that isn't even an excuse."
"Yeah, it isn't, I'm sorry."
"Jésus, te cortaré la garganta en tu sueño." I said in a menacing tone.
"Did you just....did you just speak Spanish?" He asked and I hung up.
"Fuck!" I cursed. I was literally the only one left and it was drizzling, I didn't have a ride home. I didn't even know when Jon left, Gwen offered me a ride and I declined cause of Jaxton. Fuck. My. Life!
I began to walk, hoping to at least get home before it starts to pour heavily or something, I wasn't gonna be stuck here and die like I was in a new released version of Friday the 13th.
God please, hold this rain. Poseidon or whoever is in charge, I am begging you to please wait till I get home.
"I don't think whoever you're praying to will listen," a voice said beside me and I cocked my head to the side to see a certain boy with green eyes walking beside me.
"Oh, hell no! You stalking me now?" I asked and he chuckled.
"No, my car was supposed to be brought to school, I've been waiting and my mechanic's number is switched off and the car isn't here, so yeah, I get to walk home." He explained.
"Just leave me alone and walk the other side." I said as I walked faster, trying to get rid of the one being that irritated me.
"It's gonna start pouring really hard." He said and I scoffed.
"I've walked under the rain before."
"Don't you have important things in that backpack of yours?" He asked and I heard a sound. I froze and when I did, it started pouring like it obeyed his command d choose Henry over me. I swallowed and turned to the douchebag and he had an umbrella in his hand, sheltering him, a stupid smug on his face.
I should have ignored him and kept going but he was right, again. I had important things in my bag that I couldn't let get wet due to the rain, I had told Jon to take them earlier and he promised to get them later but then he forgot and now, I was about to do something I shouldn't.
"I hate my life." I muttered and walked over to him, I stood next to him and folded my arms. "Can we go?"
"Sure." He said and we both began to walk together, I really really hated this. "So,"
"We don't have to talk, you just need to shut up." I said and he scoffed.
"Ouch, that hurt."
"Did it? Gee, I should have tried having someone stick his dick inside me when we were dating, would that have hurt, Barney Stinson?"
"Dyl," his voice became low.
"Don't. Don't say anything." I said and then there was silence as we walked and damn, it poured heavily.
"You know, I used to think we'd survive the year." Henry said and I chuckled.
"But then you stuck your dick inside a vagina like Vaughn did, I guess they were right, men are scum."
"You do know you're a guy right?"
"But I never cheated, I'm as innocent as they come, the problem lies with you manwhores. Give a man the heavens and he'd still want the stars. Pathetic, unsatisfied cheating little bastards."
"Dylan, I get you're mad at me but I just want you to listen to me, just once." He said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I have been trying to get you to talk to me for days."
"And I don't wanna talk, I'm not doing this with you, Henry."
"It does seem like you have a lot to get off your chest and I need you to get them all out and scream at me." He said and I spun to face him.
"You know what? This was a mistake. We were a mistake. Every fucking thing we shared was a big mistake that should never have happened, I just was so fucking stupid and naive."
"No, I lov-"
"I'd rather you not say that before I punch your throat." I glared at him.
"I love you."
"That's it. Fuck you, Ashcroft. I can't believe I thought that name was sexy, I was so fucking dumb." I said and walked away, into the rain. I couldn't stand him, I didn't want to spend a second by his side because he made me mad, he made me hate myself.
The rain fell on me and seconds later, it stopped dropping on me as I walked. "Leave me alone, Henry."
"No."
I scoffed and kept walking, trying to go faster with these legs but he still protected me with that fucking umbrella, I didn't look at my side to acknowledge him, I said nothing and walked for minutes, until I heard a sneeze. I turned and saw that he was drenched, he was completely drenched and he just held out the umbrella for me like I was Beyoncé and he my bodyguard.
I just stared at him, not sparing him any emotional glance.
He sniffed and smiled at me. "The things we do for love."
"Are quite stupid," I added. "I agree." I said and scoffed. "Go home, Henry, I'll call a cab or something."
"I'm walking you home." He sneezed again and again.
I just stared. "Suit yourself but don't talk to me." I said and turned, walking.
I wanted him to go. I wanted him to leave me the fuck alone and just go home but he wouldn't, he wouldn't just let me be.
Deep down, I didn't want him to catch a cold because of me. Six feet deep.

Jaxton's P.O.V
"He hung up." I said as I pulled the phone away from my ear.
"What did he say?" Jon asked.
"He threatened to slit my throat in my sleep," I answered. "In Spanish, it made my skin crawl."
"Well shit, he speaks Spanish now?" Zach asked with a scoff.
"Probably just the threatening part." I replied. "Dylan is going to hate me because of you boys."
"We are just trying to get Denry back at all cost." Jon shrugged.
"Don't you think we should just respect Dylan's wishes?" Gwen asked as she approached us, she handed me a cup of tea and I smiled.
"Thanks." I muttered and took it from her.
"I hate to admit it but, they're miserable without each other." Zach said, looking at all of us.
"True." We all agreed.
"Dylan's become so different, and I mean I understand that. He's never given his heart like the way he did to Henry and then that happened." I sighed softly.
"And Henry's smoking again, he hadn't in a long time." Zach said. "And he hasn't been sleeping either." Zach said, his voice filled with concern.
"Dylan was awake till three this morning." I announced. "Just staring at the ceiling."
"He doesn't even look human anymore." Gwen said as she sat beside Jon on the white couch.
"I also have this feeling like we should not meddle, but I hate seeing him look so miserable." Jon muttered.
"Its his first love, he's supposed to feel miserable." Gwen said, looking at us. "That is why I think you guys should let things be."
"I am just thankful you didn't give him that ride home." Zach said, shooting her a glare.
"In my defence, you guys left me out of your plans, not my fault." She shot him a mean look.
"I had to actually ruin Henry's car this morning, Dylan's a great liar and a lie detector, he could have easily sensed if I was lying, so I had to add a little truth." Jon sighed heavily.
"Curse Diana Ivy or whatever her name is." I grimaced.
Now, this was the boys plan from the beginning. Jon's actually, to bring Denry back together and it was risky because if Dylan found out about this, we were as dead to him as Jack was to Rose and I didn't wanna do this behind his back but they needed my help and I couldn't say no. We were all in Zach's living room that looked big as fuck, I will never get used to these rich kids, I swear.
"I spoke to Dylan earlier and the words that came out of his mouth were words wrapped in darkness and death. Talk about next level goth." He shivered. "Feels like I've got spiders crawling all over me."
"This is dangerous." I admitted. "This thing we're doing."
"We're doing it for them," Jon said and smiled. "And the readers."
Gwen frowned and I gasped. "What readers?" She asked, looking just as confused as Zach while I grinned.
"Well, Jax has been feeding me this whole thing about our universe not really being us us." Jon said, grimacing as he explained.
"Oh my God, you think our life is a book written by some god too, don't you?"
"And why do you think that's wrong?" I pouted. "I mean, what if everything I'm saying is being written as I am saying it."
"You are so crazy." He shook his head. "Like really mentally unstable."
"It's not a bad theory because how can one have so much misfortune in their life, like...just happen? Has to be preplanned by some fucking one?" I threw his hands in the air, trying to explain.
"Or maybe you just make fucking bad decisions and do not want to take accountability for it." Zach huffed.
"Fuck you, Zachie." I gave him the middle finger.
"It's not a bad theory." Jon shrugged.
"You both are weird." Zach said, staring at us with the you both stupid as fuck look.
"You guys, this is not the time for all of this." Gwen grunted. "Being children."
"Jaxton is a dumb fuck, now who wants pizza?"
"Me!" Gwen rose my hand
"Minus Jaxton." He said and I frowned.
"I am hungry." I pouted.
"Same." Jon spoke.
"Let's eat." Zach said.
"At least, we eat something as a family before Dylan finds out about our plan and kills us all like insects." I said with a big smile and rose my cup a little higher. "To the future."
"Amen." Gwen replied, raising hers as well.
