Chapter 30
I had told Jaxton about my flashback two nights ago, and the force I felt before I fell down the stairs. He was shocked and a little confused, but he understood and he told me there couldn't have been any water or peel on the stairs since he and Raven had run down it as well.
Jaxton called Raven to come over on Monday morning which was today and also that it was urgent, we had to tell her too. We decided to tell her on our way to school, telling her over the phone on Sunday didn't sound right and i didn't want mom to hear about this, so we waited till Monday to tell her.
We were able to convince my mom to let me go to school. I mean I missed a week of class, that is enough rest and she agreed right after Mr. Dexwell placed his hand on her shoulder which must have meant. 'He's right'
There was a knock on our door while we all ate our breakfast, mom still looked worried but something told me it wasn't about school, it seemed to be about last night and my stupid hugging thing. I had decided to act like myself again, I'm not let this get to me and I'm just gonna be fine. Henry promised we'd find the Devil's Messenger and that was what we were gonna do today.
"Good morning, everyone." I already knew who had that voice. Raven walked in with Jax beside her, she was in her cheerleading uniform and her hair rested perfectly in her shoulders.
"Hello, Phoenix." I smiled at her.
"Hey, snow white. How's your arm?" She asked as she approached the table, I stood up and walked over to her giving her a half hug.
"Say nothing." I whispered to her.
"Jax already told me that." She whispered back.
"We'll go now." I said and she nodded, right before I broke the hug.
"Uh, we have to go now" I said and picked up my backpack from the couch.
"Give me a sec, and I'll just-"
"Its okay mom. we'll ride with Raven" I smiled at her.
"What? I thought I was dropping you both off?"
"Its okay, Mrs. Dexwell. I'm an amazing driver." Raven flashed her a smile.
Mom sighed. "Alright, be careful, guys."
"Bye." Raven twirled and headed for the door.
"Bye mom" I said and gave her a smile, she looked extremely worried. I sighed and walked over to her, a fake smile printed on my face. "I will be alright, trust me, you know how sometimes you say I am fire and sometimes you say I am ice? Yeah, imagine I am channelled both, okay?"
Mom chuckled. "Okay, darling, call me if you need me, okay?"
"Sure." I waved at her and left as well.
"So. What was so urgent that I had to come here first?" Raven asked once we got out of the house, I exchanged looks with Jaxton as we approached her car.
••
"So, you were pushed by a sociopath in our school?" Raven asked for the fifth time as she drove, and every time she asked, she had a new name for him.
"Again, yes. I mean I think so." I sighed. "Do you think I'm overreacting?"
"You saw yourself fall so no, I don't think you are." Raven answered.
"Maybe I so much want it t-to be someone and I just put two pieces and-"
"You didn't imagine it, doofus. Stop trying to push it away, someone really did push you." Raven said as she took a left turn. "And let me just find out who the devil is."
"I knew something wasn't right, there was no way it could have been you tripping" Jaxton said with a little frown. I frowned as well and looked back at him.
"How are you sure?"
"If someone trips while walking, they'd fall with their ass first, right?"
"Yeah?" I answered.
"I guess so." Raven said at the same time.
"You didn't fall with your ass, I saw you fall. You fell like you were running at a high speed and wanted to stop. You fell like you had hit a stone while walking and couldn't hold your balance. You weren't falling backwards. It all makes sense now. You were pushed" he said as if putting all the pieces together right now.
"Well, now we have our answer."
A part of me wanted this to be an imagination.
"Hey, chill. We'll find out who this person is, okay?" Raven assured me.
I nodded. "Okay."
We had gotten to the school, Raven parked at her spot in the parking lot and Ae all got out at the same time, she locked her car right before we walked towards the entrance doors.
"Do you have anyone in mind?" Jaxton asked in a whisper as we walked in.
"No." I shrugged. "Who do you think did it?"
"I really don't know." Jaxton shrugged.
"Well." Raven began "I have a feeling its-"
"Hello, power rangers." We all looked ahead and saw Quinn, also in a cheerleading uniform, walking towards us with two cheerleaders beside her.
"Her". Raven finished.
We stopped walking.
"I'm so glad you're back. We were worried" she smiled and flipped her hair back. "Welcome back to Eastwood high. We had you in our prayers" she said in a soft too-fake voice.
"Uh..thank you Quinn. It's a little scary that I'm in your prayers but um...thank you" I flashed her a smile.
She giggled and looked at Jaxton. "Well, hello Jaxton, good too you today." she smirked at him.
"Um, hi?" It came out more like a question from him.
She just smirked at him evilly.
"Bitch, move away will you?" Raven said with furrowed brows.
"Ah." She turned her gaze to her. "Nice shoes"
"Hmm." Raven smiled at her. "I can't say the same for you. Move"
Quinn just smirked, not giving a comeback as she would always, she glanced at Jaxton again and walked away with the girls who also had a smirk on their faces.
"Wasn't that...weird?" Jaxton asked as we continued walking.
"She's always weird" Raven shrugged.
"She was staring at me like she's up to something"
"She's always up to no good. Its her specialty, manipulating people" Raven rolled her eyes.
"How are you both not sisters then?" I questioned and Raven scowled at me.
"Sorry."
"Better be."
"So you think Quinn might have pushed me?"
"Yeah, I mean, she said she was praying for you. Quinn prayed for you! Isn't that suspicious?" Raven asked with arched brows.
"It could be another prayer, it does not have to be that bad, Raven." Jaxton said. "But yes, she might have an agenda, Dylan."
"Why? Cause I'm gay and refused to date her?" I frowned. "Sorry. I meant sleep with her." I corrected as Jaxton made a stop at his locker and we just stood next to him.
"You know the answer," Raven smiled. "Smart."
Could it be? Maybe she assigned someone to do it.
"I mean there could be other possibilities." Jax said and I looked at him, he had a confused look on.
"What?"
"You said maybe she assigned someone to do it and I agree cause she wouldn't want to be the bad person" he said as he took out a book while looking at me.
"Did I say that out loud or you just became a physic overnight?"
"You said it out loud." they chorused and then the bell rang making all of us sigh.
Jaxton slammed his locker shut. "Well, I gotta get to class. We'll meet at lunch" he said as we walked.
"And P.E too" I added.
"I'm not sure about P.E. I've got cheerleading dance practice and that's cause of the game on Friday" she sighed.
"Yeah, thanks for reminding me about the game. We also have to make posters for the game" Jaxton said and hummed.
"And I might not be at P.E cause of my mummy hand" I smiled while they both laughed.
I spotted henry talking to a girl on miniskirt and a crop top, she had a smile on and was twisting her black curly hair with her finger. He was flitting with her and she was falling.
I didn't stop looking at him, he also had a stupid smirk on, he saw me and while his eyes were on me, he spoke to the girl. He looked away and back at her and I did the same.
"Well. Dylan and I have the same class so later loser" Raven waved at him as we went our separate ways.
"I hate Mondays"
"Sweetheart. We all do" she patted my shoulder and walked in before me. She sat at the middle row and I was about to take the seat next to hers when Zach sat there.
"Really?" I furrowed my brows at him.
"There's space at the back" he smiled.
I rolled my eyes at him and sat behind him. I wasn't in the mood to fight. Wait. What if it was Zach? Could it have been Zach? I mean he doesn't like me at all and it all started after dodgeball. Now my suspicions were:
1) Henry
2) Quinn
3) Zach.
Wait. They said Henry came running after me when I fell and so he couldn't have been the one.
1) Henry ❎
So now I've got Quinn and Zach on my list.
Henry came in and sat beside me, this was Zach and his seat and now Zach switched places to look for trouble but I'm not in the mood to give it to him.
The teacher walked in and soon began talking about organs and stuff. If you have forgotten what I have on Mondays? Its biology first.
"Hey" henry called. It was a whisper but I didn't answer. "Dyl."
No answer.
"Hey"
No answer.
"Bitch!"
"Fucktard" I couldn't hold myself from that giving a comeback and I knew I had failed once I saw that smirk on his face. He knew I couldn't refrain from doing that.
"You okay?"
"What happened to 'not speaking to each other'?"
"Bitch I'm just trying to be a good classmate"
"Pfft" I rolled my eyes.
"Meet me at the janitor's closet after lunch"
I gave him a soured look. "There is no goddamn way I'm going into the janitor's closet with you" it wasn't happening.
"What why?" His expression became that of confusion.
"Janitor's closet?" One of my brows cocked. "With you?" I blinked. "No" I shook my head and looked back at the man who was teaching.
"Get your head outta the gutter, you perverted creature. I just wanna talk about the push"
"Mmhmm"
"And besides I like girls"
"Says the guy who kissed me" I slowly tilted my head to look at him. "Thrice. One was a make out section. The first one"
His jaw dropped, mouth open to spit out words but he knew what I meant and couldn't even deny the fact that he kissed me.
"Well.."
"Yeah and if I follow you into the janitor's closet, what assurance do I have that you won't rape me and stuff my body down the toilet"
He looked around and back at me. "Lower your voice"
"I am fucking whispering" I whisper yelled and cleared my throat, looking forward again.
"You are sick" he shook his head at me.
"Whatever"
"Janitor's closet...after lunch" he said and when I turned to speak, he was fully focused.
"Not happening" I replied but he said nothing. I rolled my eyes for the God knows how many times today and looked ahead, I saw Raven laugh at something Zach said and it totally shocked me. Since when did Raven find Zach funny? Whatever came out of his mouth always irritated her. She looked back at me and flashed me a smile, I did the same before she turned and it disappeared.
••
Class was over and I had gone out before Raven, she was talking to some cheerios. I was waiting for her outside when I saw Jaxton's friends. The ones from the LGBT club that we saw the other day. I totally forgot their names, the girl and the boy. They were passing by and laughing about something.
"Hey" I smiled at them.
"Oh hi. Dylan right?" The girl grinned widely and I chuckled
"Yeah." I nodded.
Shit. They remembered my own name. Great. Just great.
"We heard about the fall. How's your arm?" The boy asked.
"Still bandaged but it's less painful now." I smiled.
"We're so sorry that happened" the girl said with a pitiful expression.
"How are you guys?" I quickly changed the topic.
They both smiled.
"I'm good" the boy replied.
"I'm okay. We just have some work to do" the girl let out a little laugh.
"Let me guess. It has to do with you guys meeting on Saturday?" I asked with a slight chuckle.
They both frowned and looked at each other as if they didn't know what I was talking about.
"What meeting?" The girl asked.
"The meeting you guys had on Saturday. Your LGBT meeting thing. Jaxton told me you guys had a meeting"
They looked at each other again and shook their head.
"We didn't have any meeting. We're like his interns if I'd say so we'd know if there was. We had our meeting on Thursday, after school" he said and I blinked. My smile slowly faded.
He lied?
He lied.
"Oh" I let out a fake laugh. "Sorry. I meant Thursday. Yeah he told me. I..after the fall, I've kinda been missing things" I said and placed my hand on my forehead. "Stupid me"
"Oh. Its okay. We hope you get better. we have to go"
I smiled at them. "Sure. Bye"
"Bye"
"Later" the boy waved and they both walked away.
"Sorry I took so long" Raven said with a sigh and came out of the class. "Come on let's- hey. Are you okay?"
I looked at her with knitted brows. "Jaxton's hiding something"
"What'd you mean?" She asked confused.
"Remember I complained to you about Jaxton ditching me and going for his LGBT meeting?"
She nodded. "Yeah"
"I just spoke to two of the club members and they said there was never a meeting." Her brows knitted. "They said they had the meeting on Thursday. There was never a meeting"
"So cute little Jax lied"
I nodded. "I said I was gonna follow him to wherever he was going and he..." Then it hit me. "That son of a bitch!" I cursed.
"What?"
"He knew I wouldn't want to go to the LGBT meeting with him or with anyone, and so he came up with that. Oh smart! Very smart."
"How do we then know where he went to and lied to you about?"
"He didn't want me to know which means..."
"He might have gone to see Vaughn." She finished up and that was what I was thinking.
••
It was lunch time, Raven and I were having our food when Jax came and stood next to us with his own tray.
"Hey, guys."
"Hey." I replied.
"Sup?"
"So, the weirdest thing happened."
"I wonder what" Raven said with no interest as she went for pizza.
"Throughout today, Quinn's been giving me stares well...more like smirks. Every time I turn, she's there, smirking like there's something she knows and I wonder what." Jaxton said, looking uneasy.
"I told you boys already, Quinn is always up to no good and maybe something happened that she knows?" Raven said with a shrug and I knew what she was hinting at but there was no way Quinn could know.
Right?
"Maybe it's not as bad as we think." I shrugged.
"Tell me Jax, why do you think she knows something?" Raven glanced at him.
"Well, the stares. They're...They're weird and suspicious." He said, softly.
"I'm sure if you were hiding something, no one would ever suspect you." Raven said and my brows quickly furrowed.
"—but they'll find out sooner or later" She finished and flashed him a smile and he frowned a little confused.
"That's what a great man once said." She added.
We all turned and came face to face with the blond demon of oz who we had been talking about.
"Ah! The saying is true" Raven smiled fakely.
"Speak of the devil?" I said in a low tone.
"...and she appears" Jaxton finished indicating he heard and I smiled at him.
Quinn was standing with the same minions we met this morning and had that all knowing smirk Jaxton had been talking about.
She did know something.
"What do you want?" Raven asked.
"Oh, nothing." She looked at Jaxton, her lips were red unlike before.
"Why have you been staring at Jaxton and smirking like a witch who found her sacrifice?" I asked and she just shrugged.
"Because i know something and well I just want everyone to know this big secret" she beamed and folded her arms
"Let's go, guys. If we talk to her for another second, we will lose brain cells" Raven said and walked past her, we did the same but she stopped us.
"It's funny, Jaxton." Quinn said with a small laugh.
We all stopped and turned to her.
"How you could hide this secret,"
"Are you gonna spill it out or keep being a bitch, Quinn? I don't exactly have all day." Jaxton asked.
"You know it and everyone will know," Quinn said and flipped her hair backwards. "I've got an announcement everybody. Hello!." She shouted, getting the attention of all students and the cafeteria slowly became quiet.
"You see," she looked at Jaxton. "When Jaxton and Dylan ended up in the hospital. We all were worried about them, you know?. I mean, a burglar?" She gasped. "We are good people so we were so worried and confused at why it was Jaxton's house and how there was no sign of a break in but still there was a break in."
This bitch,
How much did she know?
"Where are you getting at with this?" Raven questioned.
"That man wasn't a nobody. He wasn't a burglar. He was our Jaxton's lover." She announced with a smirk
We all stood frozen once she spilled, we didn't move or seem to blink, we just stared.
How did she find out?
"Our sweet, innocent Jaxton lied to everyone. Turns out they were dating. A teenager, dating a twenty six year old man "
The cafeteria erupted into an uproar. There were gasps, phones out, loud whisperings.
"You know nothing, Quinn. All you do is lie and try to ruin kids at this school. I mean, I do the same but we all know you." Raven said.
"Oh, but I have proof." Quinn giggled and stretched out her hand, the cheerleader behind her put a phone on it and she began typing while we all stood in silence. "I'll send it to you. You know what? Actually, I'll send it to all of you." She said with a big smile.
She kept typing on her phone and in less than thirty seconds, everyone's phone began to blow up with messages and as I looked around, mine did as well and so did Raven's. I frowned and took out my phone, I opened the message and my eyes widen with shock at what I saw.
It was a picture of Jaxton kissing Vaughn's cheek happily. The cafeteria was a mess again as people started talking and every student seemed to be in shock.
Raven looked at me and we just stared at each other, wondering what we were going to do.
"What is it?" Jaxton asked and then his phone beeped. He took it out and looked at it and I saw the fear in his eyes.
"No," was the only word that could leave his mouth.
I was scared for him and this was the most humiliating thing. I was mad at her.
"You preach so much about faithfulness and being good and all and is this what you do?" She laughed.
"Listen...I"
"You are the leader of your LGBT club and you are also a slut." She cut him off.
Jaxton shook his head, tears were threatening to fall. "What? I just-"
I held Jaxton's hand. "Quinn," I called, dragging her attention to me. "How are you, love?"
"Sorry?"
"I mean, you must feel so good and high since the only way for you to feel good about your miserable self is to bring people down. You talk about him being a slut?" I looked at her. "If we are gonna slut shame then please, take a look in the mirror, darling, because word is, your middle name is railway, because they always run a train on you." I flashed her a smile, while hers vanished.
"What did you think you were doing? Huh? Trying to humiliate him an-"
"Whatever you say is irrelevant, Dylan." She said , cutting me off. "I am not even here for you at all, I care not about you but about," she looked at Jaxton with an evil smirk. "Him."
"That night. What exactly happened hmm?" She turned to me with folded arms. "How did pretty boy Dylan end up in the hospital with broken bones? Was it that he was jealous of your relationship with Vaughn and there was a fight?" She arched her brow.
"What?" Jaxton muttered.
"Or was it the other way around?"
"Excuse you?" I snarled at her.
"Everyone knows you two are close"
"Yeah," I gave a small nod. "He is my best friend, you fairly used mean girl worth two cents, so bitch so stop assuming things and fabricating shit."
"T-That's n-not it" Jaxton stuttered. "Why are you doing this?" Jaxton asked as a tear rolled down his eye. "Listen, Quinn, I just-"
"You like men huh? You went for a man that is nearly ten years older than you are cause you are nothing but a sick, twisted faggot"
That was it. I was filled with rage and was about to speak up when I heard
"That is ENOUGH!"
It was Raven.
I looked at her and she was glaring angrily at Quinn. It was so evil, it was so threatening, it scared me. That glare sent shivers down my spine. Jesus. This could kill a person.
"You have said a lot, oh you have said a lot for a dumb bitch." Raven snickered. "You can say whatever shit you want to say to me, but being homophobic to Jaxton? Don't." She snapped.
"Or what, Raven?"
"Sweetie, listen, I will not let you talk about Jaxton in that way you, you understand me? You think you can just open the vagina stuck in your face and say trash about my Jax and I'll let just what? Let you be?" She scoffed.
"You really do not scare me, Raven. You should know me by now, that you are not a problem for me. You do not scare me."
"Oh but I should." Raven replied. "You've said and done a lot of things that I ignored, but this? No." She shook her head. "It is enough."
"Its no surprise that this is the kinda friend you keep. A lying, pathetic, cock- juggling thunder cunt" she let out a small laugh. "You always went for the weak ones. For the disgusting ones. For the low life. I'm not surprised that a giggoloish fag is your best friend" she smirked.
Raven's cocked her head to the side as her eyes held so much anger just like me. Raven smiled and walked to a table, she elegantly dropped her tray on the table and walked back to us.
"That is how you want it, huh?"
This was gonna be bad.
"What are you gonna do? Hmm?" Quinn asked, titling her head to the side. "Fighting is not allowed here."
"And when has that stopped any student here?" Raven replied, not smiling, just with a deadpan expression.
I would be running if I were her.
Raven took off her gold earrings really fast and shoved it at Jaxton's chest while looking at the barbie doll. "Hold my earrings"
She marched towards the Blondie who kept talking and punched her right in the nose so hard, everyone gasped.
Holy shit. She's so fucking strong.
My eyes went wide once that struck happened, and my mouth made an 'O' shape.
"I said it is enough, you stupid bitch."
Quinn took several steps back and was looking down at the ground for a while and when she turned to us, she was bleeding real bad. "You bitch! You fucking broke my nose" she shouted the obvious thing and I really wanted to laugh. "You are a-"
"I said you should shut up!" Raven went after her. Quinn's minions backed away.
Quinn glared at her. "I will make you-"
She was interrupted by a quick, forceful slap that sent her searching for something to hold onto. No one had seen that slap coming, the speed was something else.
Raven charged at her and the two rolled on a table and landed on the floor, the cafeteria was super noisy with people gasps and whispers and some chanting the word 'Fight' as if a Salem witch was about to be burnt. They stood on their tables to get a clearer view while some came closer .
You'd think they would keep dragging each other's hair but no. Raven kept slapping and punching and soon it went back to dragging of hairs.
I was gonna stop the fight but I'd rather have Raven teach that girl a lesson that would never be forgotten.
Jaxton looked shocked, he kept trying to stop them from fighting as well but he didn't go close. The ladies looked like tigers and I guess Jaxton was scared of having claw marks on his face.
"Hey. Hey. Hey." Someone came running, actually two. Zach and Henry. Zach pulled Raven away while Henry pulled Quinn up.
Raven kept trying to go finish this but Zach wouldn't let her and it looked like it was taking everything Zach had to hold her down cause she was charged and wanted to rip her to shreds.
"You bitch!" The bleeding blond lady cried out.
"Okay. Okay" Raven rose her hands a little as a way of saying she was done and Zach did the mistake of believing her and freed her and once he did, she went for Quinn and pulled her hair till she dragged her down and I was scared for Quinn. I couldn't hold back my laugh.
Zach ran to her and tried pulling her but she wouldn't let go of Quinn's hair and Quinn kept screaming. When Zach finally pulled her away, raven had dragged out Quinn's hair extensions. "YOU ARE GODDAMN LUCKY! IF YOU COME FOR MY BEST FRIENDS AGAIN, I WILL DRIVE A SPEAR UP YOUR ASS UNTIL YOUR NOSE SPLITS IN HALF WHORE" Raven shouted angrily and combed her rough hair with her fingers.
Jaxton was still in shock of what happened but right here we heard that voice in charge.
"What happened in here?"
Principal Evans and another teacher was with him.
"Shit" I muttered. Everyone turned their gaze to them and the cafeteria became silent.
He looked really angry and now, I was worried about Raven. "Two of you, in my office" he said as he walked and then turned to them. "NOW!" He screamed as he edited the cafeteria.
Raven glared at Zach and he let go off her waist, she matched towards us with a sigh.
"That was some power punches" I chuckled making her smile.
"No one dares speak to any of my friends that way" she smiled at Jaxton.
"Thank you" Jaxton said with a smile. "You are in trouble now because of me" She patted his shoulder and let out a sigh. "Shit. My hair is a mess now"
We all laughed. "I'll see you boys later" she said and as she exited the cafeteria, everyone began to clap and hail her for her skills till she left.
••
It was time for P.E but Jaxton and I were standing a mile away from the principal's office, waiting for Raven. They had been called again to the office for the second time. We were both waiting outside the principal's office, we did keep a distance though.
"Why did they call her again?" Jaxton asked for the hundredth time.
I sighed. "Jaxton if you keep asking me that then you might not make it home"
He kept quiet, understanding what I meant and just folded his arms.
"You okay?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I'm good."
"You shouldn't let what she said get to you"
"Too late." He gave a fake smile. "It did get to me."
"You fell for him, its not your fault."
"I wonder how she knew." He sighed.
"Maybe sh-" I trailed off when I spotted someone walk through those entrance doors. She had red short curly hair, pale skin, she was probably 5'9. She looked like she was in her forties, she had an orange gown on, that got to her knees and had a long cut by the side. She was holding a black bag with some white spots and black cork heels. She looked familiar and worked like the high class woman she was. She gently pushed her backwards before walking into the principal's office and the way she walked reminded me of someone and when she looked our way, I instantly whom she was. I recognized her.
"Who is that?" Jaxton asked.
"Red hair, looks expensive and like a bitch, my money's on Mother Frost."
"Wow. She is beautiful. I have never seen Raven's parents here ever. This must be really bad."
"Maybe not that bad."
"Dylan, her mother is here."
"I-"
I trailed off on felt something light hit my neck, I frowned and looked down at whatever it was and saw a folded piece of paper. I looked up and where it had come from and saw Henry standing far from where I stood. From his distance, I must say, that was a very nice throw.
He signalled for me to follow him and walked to his left, vanishing.
"J-Jaxton. I'll be right back" I handed him my backpack. "I need to go to the bathroom real quick. If Raven comes out, you both should wait." I said as I walked backwards real fast and then I took the same way henry did. He was standing next to a classroom and when he saw me he walked into it. I looked around to make sure there was no student passing or watching before I walked in.
I entered the empty classroom and closed the door once I got in, frowning at him. He was sitting on a table.
"What?"
"You were supposed to meet me after lunch. Where were you?"
"Maybe I have a life and issues to sort out? Ever thought about that?"
He sighed, looked down and back at me. "Sorry"
"Hmm." I rolled my eyes and folded my arms.
"She's a good punch thrower."
I broke a smile. "She really is."
"So. About the....you know"
"You mean the devil's messenger?" I added more drama to the name and in my head made sound effects for it.
"Yeah, that. Come up with anything?" He asked.
I sighed and walked closer to him, I sat on the seat next to Henry. "No" I shook my head. "I've got some people in mind though"
"Okay," he looked interested. "Tell me" he shrugged. "Who?"
"Quinn."
"Quinn? The girl who got beaten?" His left brow cocked.
"Mmhmm." I nodded.
"Uh, no"
"Why? She's a demon."
"That is true." He nodded. "But I'm not just sure. I mean come on. Quinn?. Okay who's next?"
I bit my lip and looked at him "Zaaach?"
His brows furrowed in surprise. "Wh-no." shook his head.
"Hey. Your stupid best friend hates me so much. He's been so mean to me and I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed me"
"What the fuck?" He scoffed. "Bitch! When I ran to you, Zach was with me. I was tutoring him and we heard you talk about Isaac and then you were rolling down the stairs like a cabbage."
"So...it's not Zach?".
"I can guarantee you that." He said
I sighed with frustration. "Well, I've got nothing then." I relaxed on it. "You?"
"I was trying to eavesdrop on conversations the boys had."
"And?"
He paused. "I was walking by and I heard one of them say 'Dylan's back'"
"Is that a bad thing? Maybe they missed this hot cake."
"Shut up. It was more of a worried tone than an excited one, I hate to break it to you."
I gulped.
"Which means whoever did this is part of the team."
"S-So I was right?" I looked at him. "The devil that is after my soul is in this school."
He nodded.
"Did you find out who?"
"They were gone before I could see them"
"Not one person"
He shook his head. "I don't think so."
I panicked. "Well" I shrugged. "We'll find out who it was." I said trying to look calm
"We will." He nodded.
"I gotta go wait for Raven." I stood up.
"And I've got practice now, the boys must be looking for me." He stood up as well. "Be careful."
"Always am." I smiled.
"Except that one time you fell down the stairs."
"I hate you."
He smiled. "Bye, loser." E said and walked out first. I stayed in for like a minute, trying to calm myself and when I did. I walked back to Jaxton.
"What took you so long?"
"Sorry." I apologized and took my backpack from him. "They out?" I asked looking at him.
"N...oh look"
I turned my gaze to the principal's office, Quinn and her mom first came out and we looked away until she left and next- it was Raven and her mom.
Raven and her Mom were exchanging words that we couldn't hear, they seemed to be arguing.
"Oh shit. This is bad"
"Yeah. She's real mad" Jaxton said referring to Raven's mom, she said some things while Raven remained silent and then her mom walked away
Raven just stared at her mom as she walked away, she sighed and turned to us, then marched towards us with anger.
"What happened?" I asked.
"This is all your fault!" She yelled at Jaxton, making us frown.
"Woah! Woah!! Woah!!!" I chimed in. "Relax, Lois Lane. Let's not pull out the blame card or this will not end well, trust me. "
"If you had just let Vaughn be and not go see him then maybe Quinn wouldn't have found out and I wouldn't have to face this"
"Raven, that is enough."
Shit. She was damn mad and spilling..
"What are you talking about?" Jax looked confused.
"Where were you on Saturday?" She demanded.
Jax's face softened. "I-I told Dylan. W-We had a meeting in school." He stuttered.
"You didn't have a meeting, Jaxton. You can stop fucking lying cause news flash! We know." Raven said, forcing a smile at him.
"What?" Jaxton asked, confused.
"I saw your friends and they confirmed that there was never a meeting." I said.
He froze.
"So, where were you?" She asked again.
"I-I went out okay."
"Where exactly? To see that sick twisted psychopathic boyfriend of yours?" Raven cocked her brow.
"Raven!"
"What?" He frowned. "Oh my God. No. I didn't go see him! Is that what you think?"
"What are we supposed to think?" She huffed.
"I do not even fucking have to tell you guys where I was but if you must know Robin and Raven, I was at the hospital that day okay?!! I had gone to see a patient. Someone I know! Not Vaughn!"
Well, damn.
"And you," he turned to me. "You did an investigation on that? On me? I thought we were friends?" He said, sounding hurt.
"We are. And no, I didn't investigate. I just a-asked them about you randomly, and they were already spilling. So, I was like why the fuck would Jaxton lie to me if it wasn't so serious and yeah, I got curious and...well, here we are. What was I supposed to think? What were we to think?"
"Exactly." Raven agreed.
"Yeah, well did you tell Raven about your kiss with Henry? Does she know about it?"
My eyes bulged.
"You kissed henry?" Raven asked.
I cocked my brows at Jaxton. "Are you fucking kidding me?"
But he just shrugged, he really wanted us to all go down for something.
I turned to Raven with a small smile. "I-"
"He did, at Quinn's party" Jaxton said and folded his arms. He just sold me out.
"Can you just maybe shut up? Thank you."
"When were you gonna tell me?" She asked, not in a tone of happiness or anything but of anger. "You told me heavens forbid anything happens between you."
"Yes, and I still s-stand by that. I don't like Henry, it just...happened."
"Just happened?"
"It is not a big deal, Raven, and I w-was gonna tell you about it okay. I just-"
"You what? You said you didn't want her to know about it cause she'd make a drama about it."
"Shut up!" I glared at Jaxton. "Jesus, Jaxton. Why are you being such a bitch with absolutely no ability to fucking read the room but to create chaos and division?"
"You said that?" Raven asked, sounding hurt. "You think I'm full on drama."
"No," I turned to her. "Listen, I-"
"Tell me the truth, no need to beat about the bush." She demanded.
I sighed. "I didn't want you making a big deal out of it like you are doing now, okay? Yes, I did kiss Henry. No, I didn't plan to, it just....happened and we...kept kissing, okay? I don't think it is a big deal, and I didn't think I had to tell everyone that I kissed a boy who probably isn't even out of the closet, if he is...gay and not just in the moment."
"I can't believe you both." Raven let out a slight chuckle of total disbelief.
"It's not a big deal, Raven, it was just a kiss."
"You think so? All my fucking life, I have had friends who keep shit from me and lie to my face. Forgive me for wanting to know what my fucking best friend is up to, and if it was not a big deal, you would have told me, Dylan. I didn't have to hear it from Shawn Mendes over here." She pointed at Jaxton. "It's not just about a stupid kiss, but where the fuck is the trust, Dylan? Why wouldn't you tell me about it?"
"It was a kiss, Raven! I didn't marry your brother! Don't you think you're being a bit too dramatic about this?"
"I fucking got in a fight cause of Jax here, and I wouldn't on a normal fucking day, but I did and welcomed him. Why? Because he was your friend, and so I decided to also tolerate his ass and be friends with him so we can all be in a happy environment with each other. But apparently our friendship is shit, because I am the drama one, so everything has to be kept from me."
"I didn't ask you to fight my battle. I could have handled it" Jax retorted.
"Really? Cause all I could see was a pathetic, little, hopeless boy crying like a bitch when Quinn told everyone your tea, why couldn't you handle it, huh? Why cry? Maybe because you are still a loser, and walking around with your head high in the school doesn't still mean you are shit."
Jax's voice seized.
"Raven, that is not fair. I know you are angry but speaking to him like that is wrong." I told her. "Let us just take a deep breath, have some pepsi and talk about this."
"Maybe we need a break from each other after all"
"Raven," I sighed. "Come on."
"You really don't understand what is going on, huh. I'm not some control freak who wants to know everything. But with Henry?" She scoffed. "You don't think there's a reason I would have liked to know?"
"Well, spill then, Raven, for fuck sake."
"We were best friends first Dylan" she cut me off. "But sure, you chose this thing over me and I'm not even mad about it. Have a nice life" she said and before I could say another word she was gone.
And I understand her anger, it was very much justified how she felt this way about me choosing Jaxton over her when we were friends first. When you think about it, you meet someone first and bond with them and then they keep things from you. But still, this got way out of hand.
"What was the meaning of what you did?" I turned to Jaxton angrily. "I trusted you with that information and you just stabbed me with a dagger?"
"You went behind my back and did a spy thing on me."
"No, I didn't!"
"Yes. Yes, you did"
"I didn't!! Jesus, Jaxton, can you fucking listen for once and not just open your fucking mouth to talk all the time? Listen!!!" I yelled. "I asked about the meeting and they told me there was none. It is normal to ask about your friend you didn't see from the people he was supposed to be hanging out with! I just asked them and they made it known to me that you had lied. You fucking lied!!! This was my secret to tell, not yours, Jaxton! Not yours. But you always go about doing this. Always up in my business but can't keep your lips sealed."
"Well, it's spilled, now so I can't take it back."
"You really are an asshole."
"Who cares? You act like you're the most perfect. Act all cold when you are just a weakling and using this dark force to cover your true self"
I laughed. "Are you jealous that I am not a cry baby? Oh really now? This is rich of you. Suddenly, you have grown balls. Why didn't you channel this when Quinn was roasting your ass and humiliating you? Now, you wanna act all tough?"
"You think the world revolves around you huh? Mr perfect. You are just the worst. The devil. You are the dark angel as people call you. What was I thinking" he chuckled, his voice getting high. Students around the all could hear and were watching. "That we could be actually be good friends? Maybe Isaac did the right thing by leaving cause you are an awful person and he got tired of you and actually wanted to die" he yelled all at once and once he said that, his face softened
My heart skipped a huge beat.
I stared at him in shock and his eyes widen immediately he realised what he said.
"Oh my God." He breathed.
Did he just say this to me? Used Isaac against me? My own best friend was saying this to me. He just used my dead brother against me. How dare him?
He blinked severally, his lips quivering. "Dylan, I...I didn't-"
I didn't let him finish, he got interrupted by a hard slap. The sound of skin contacting skin that echoed through the walls and back to my ears.
He stared at me with shocked eyes, and slowly placed his hand on his now red cheeks.
"What was it you told me the day I fell down the stairs? It's okay to talk about what I wanted to keep to myself?" I scoffed, feeling a rush of pain inside of me. "And you used that....against me today."
Jaxton opened his mouth to say something and I rose a finger at him, daring him.
He had crossed some invisible line, I glared at him with so much anger, my chest hurt, it was filled with pain but at the same time was returning to ice.
"You have said enough." I told him.
"Dylan, I-I didn't m-mean to-"
"How dare you speak his name? You know," I could feel my throat tighten as I glared at him. "You crossed a fucking line today, and one day when you think everything is all over, I'll make you pay for it."
He gulped.
"I may have made a mistake by considering you a friend, Jaxton. You know what they say about boys like you? The ones who always appear sweet, they say we should beware boys like you because you are the worst." I said. "But you know what they say about boys like me?" I took a step towards him. "Nothing. Because not enough words can describe what we are, and how fast we can make your fucking life miserable, Jaxton. So, how about you keep testing me and then find out what I can do."
Jaxton gulped. "Dylan-"
"If I ever hear Isaac's name in that disgusting mouth of yours ever again, you won't ever be able to speak anymore and I promise you that." I said, trying to tame my anger.
I tried. I tried to hard to hold back from saying so many awful things that I could use against him, my anger always got the best of me and I could have said so many things. Used his mother. His dead father. Anything. That was the kind of person I was, to always get the upper hand and the last say.
But I stopped myself.
"Do not try to project how much you hate your shitty life on me, Jaxton. Maybe if you were not so shitty to use someone's pain against them, you wouldn't feel so alone all the time and don't fucking project your hate for yourself on me ever again, because I will make not just you, but everyone else hate you." I told him, glaring daggers at him. "You don't exactly know me, Jaxton. You just see everything that I want you to see, don't make me show you the other side of me."
Jaxton swallowed, breaking eye contact as he blinked severally. "You crossed the line now and, there's no going back from this." I said and walked past him, bumping my shoulder against. He stumbled as I made my way past the students and down the hall.
As I strolled down the hall, I felt my throat tighten and my eyes became watery. I was filled with anger, every part of me wanted to punch him, to use everything against him, but that part of me I had left in Seattle. It was a part of me I didn't want to reawaken.
Fuck you, Jaxton.
We all got caught in a lie and it tore us apart, but I didn't want to fix it.
I wouldn't.
