Chapter 109
"Dylan! You're going to be late." Mom's voice filled the stairs, breaking my barriers and getting into my room. I rolled my eyes as I picked up my backpack and made my way out of the room, I descended from the stairs and walked over to the kitchen where mom was, it was literally her spot.
"I'm here, can we go now?" I asked plainly.
"Won't you have breakfast?" She asked as she took a bite from her toast bread.
"I'll eat at school, let's go." I said. Mom and grandma Athena exchanged looks and I frowned. "What? I'm not hungry, I'm watching my weight."
Mom snorted. "You don't even have any, so what exactly are you losing?"
I scowled at her, restraining myself from giving her the middle finger. "Where's Dad?" I asked, changing the subject.
"He's gone for an early meeting which means, I'll be driving you, so come on." She said and began making her way towards me with a smile on her face.
"Bye, grandma." I said with a small smile as I turned and headed for the door.
"Take care of yourself, okay?"
I nodded. "Of course." I said with a light wave before walking out of the house with mom.
While mom drove, all I could think of as I stared out the window was how Mrs. Olson was not as sweet as she made her son believe she was. I told him that she hadn't changed, I did warn him and I am never wrong when it comes to things like this. I know I shouldn't interfere and mind my business but Jaxton is still my friend and I was going to get rid of that woman no matter what it cost me, I was going to make Jaxton realize I was right all these time.
"It's awfully quiet, I don't like it." Mom said and turned on the radio, she squealed once Formation by Beyoncé began to play, she increased the volume and began to move her head to the song.
"Aren't you too old for this?" I asked her and she scoffed.
"Oh please, I'm twenty four, this is what I'm supposed to be doing."
I scoffed. "Sure."
"Oh come on, you love Beyoncé, I know you want to sing, I know you want to dance so just do it and loosen up." Mom said with a smile as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
She was trying too hard.
"No, thanks." I replied with a fake smile and looked out the window again.
"So, I spoke to Catherine last night, she was uh...asking about you." Mom spoke.
Catherine. Catherine Ashcroft.
"Okay."
"Are you gonna call her?" She questioned.
"I don't know, maybe."
She sighed. "You should give her a call, Dylan, she misses you."
"She has only known me for like four months, I think she'll be fine." I replied, turning to look at Mom who had a frown fixed on her face.
"Dylan, that is not a nice thing to say!" She was going to start scolding me and I was so not ready for any inspirational speech about how this wasn't me and how I had suddenly become someone people didn't like. I didn't care, I mean, if I stopped myself from feeling then how could I care about a nobody's opinion?
Finally we got to the school and I quickly interrupted her scolding that was suddenly giving me a headache. "Oh look, school." I said as I undid my seatbelt before she parked.
"Dylan," mom called just as I was about to open the car door, I looked back at her. "If you wanna talk, I'm always here. If you've got to clear your mind and cry then call me, I'll be right by your side, you don't have to pretend to be unaffected by it all, son." I knew she was only trying to help, she was my mother after all and I knew she was worried but she had it all wrong, she had nothing to worry about.
"I'm not pretending about anything, mom. I don't need to cry because nobody is worth my tears and like I said, I'm fine. As far as I know, this is my best self." I said before opening the car door and stepping out, closing it once I was out. I didn't turn back to wave, I didn't need to, I just walked straight into the school and the second I walked into those doors, I felt like a gay kid who had been outed by social media. Why was everyone staring at me?
A frown clouded my face as I walked down the hall, it wasn't just me being paranoid because I wasn't, they were actually staring at me. I decided to ignore them and kept walking when Jaxton and Raven rushed to me, I halted as they approached me.
"Who died?"
"Did you see it?" Jaxton asked and my frown deepened.
"The body? No, I came here straight from home, was it Bruce?"
Jaxton groaned and rolled his eyes and before he could speak further, Raven did. "Nobody died idiot, have you seen our school gossip site today?"
"You mean the site I don't check because the anonymous blogger is a coward who sits in front of their computer and posts people's secrets? No, no, I haven't."
"Well, don't panic, okay?" Jaxton said and I shot him a look.
"Why? I didn't murder anybody's son yet." I shrugged, and Jaxton handed his phone to me. I took it from him and stared at the already opened site. The photo there was of me and Henry kissing and a big red X on us, with the caption;
"Denry is officially over."
So it has been confirmed that Dylan Dexwell and Henry Ashcroft, the #1 gay couple in Eastwood high has finally split. It didn't even last till graduation!! Ha!! Sources say one of them cheated on the other at Raven's Halloween party and my money is on Dylan. He's always acting like the king bee or if I may say, Queen bee since he's gay and extra.
My brows flew up.
We all know Henry flirts a lot but Dylan also has a history with bad boys and flirts with lots of guys, so if anyone cheated, I'm pretty sure it's the Dexwell kid because he only ever wanted Henry to be more popular and once he got that, he did what he could.
I stopped reading and looked up at Jaxton who was nervously biting his nails, I handed his cellphone back to him.
"So?" He asked softly as he took his phone from me.
"You okay?" Raven asked, her brows furrowed.
I huffed. "I didn't know we were the #1 gay couple in Eastwood high, we were that popular? Hmmph." I replied and they both frowned at the same time, they exchanged looks before looking back at me.
"Dylan, did you read everything?" Raven asked and I shrugged.
"I don't need to. It's not my business, guys. The blogger can keep writing shit about me, if I don't care then why should I bother?"
"Dylan, the person turned the table." Jaxton stated.
"He said you tried to turn Henry gay and played him, he said you just wanted him for popularity." Raven added.
I grimaced. "On my first day here, I already got popular for my looks, I didn't need him to be that because it's the obvious that I am amazing." I said blankly and suddenly the bell rang. "See you both in class, and stop stressing about this, it doesn't matter." I said and walked past them.
It really didn't matter.
***
I walked out of the fifth class I had entered while searching for Gwen, I couldn't find that blonde Barbie and I needed her. It wasn't long before I saw her resting against a lawyer with Jon resting against her body, hands around her waist. I rolled my eyes and quickly approached them.
"I have to interrupt." I said when they were about to lock lips and their faces turned towards my direction.
"Dylan, hey," Jon pulled away. "You don't have to be a buzz kill."
"I didn't kill no bug." I said and turned to Gwen. "I need you."
Her brows knitted. "What for?"
I gave her a look and she gasped in realization. "Oh, the-"
"Homework I told you I needed help with." I finished.
Gwen nodded. "Yeeeah, sure." She nervously chuckled.
"What homework?" Jon asked, curiously.
"Maths."
"Science."
I closed my eyes and mentally cursed as we both said different things, I faked a smile and looked at Jon. "Science with a lot of maths, we'll see you later." I said and gripped Gwen's arm, pulling her away.
"We messed up."
"You did," I corrected. "Not me."
Gwen scoffed. "What's up?" She asked as we walked into an empty class.
"What is the name of your cousin's friend who deals drugs with Jaxton's mother?"
Gwen shook her head slowly. "No, over my dead body will I tell you."
"Then I guess you'd have to drop dead." I said and silence swallowed the air. "Tell me, Gwen, I'm not gonna have him arrested."
"How can I trust you?"
"Gwen," I frowned. "You know me."
"Yeah, before your....resident evil phase. How do I know you won't kill him?"
"Do I look like a murderer?" I asked, arching my brow at her.
Gwen arched her brows as well. "Do you really want me to answer that?"
"Come on, Gwen. This is for Jaxton, we need to figure out everything before we make a move. What she's dealing. How's she dealing. Who she's dealing with. What other secrets the serpent hides. Jaxton is my best friend and I won't let her ruin his life anymore, she already caused a lot of damages."
Gwen stared at me for the longest time and sighed. "His name is Robin."
"Can you get us to meet? All three of us?"
"I guess so, I'm not even a fan of Robin but my cousin might be mad."
"Well, tell Robin you have a friend who wants to buy and he pays well, tell him I'm close to Dunk Frost and I can get him whatever he needs for a little doze."
Gwen's brows knitted curiously. "Then what's going to happen?"
I smiled. "Then we have him tell us everything he knows about Mrs. Olson."
"And how are you going to do that? You know they don't just spill."
I chuckled. "Haven't you learned anything from Annalise Keating? Leave it to me."
"You scare me, Dylan, seriously, you scare me." Gwen said, folding her arms.
"I haven't eaten any part of your body now, have I?" I asked and exited the classroom with Gwen walking behind me.
"So what time do we meet tonight?" Gwen asked as we walked down the halls.
"Nine sharp. So play your part well."
Gwen groaned again and I turned to her. "Do you have a photo of Robin?"
Gwen frowned, her face taken over by confusion. "Um, no. Why?"
"Can you get it?"
Gwen took out her phone. "I could check my cousin's Instagram and find him, he probably has one of those lame names."
"Screenshot and forward it to me." I said and she looked at me suspiciously.
"You won't tell me what you need it for?"
"Not now." I said and continued walking.
"My cousin is going to fucking hate me forever." Gwen complained as she followed.
"He's your cousin, he'll forgive you, I'm sure he'll understand. I'm not your cousin, so I won't if you don't help me with this." I assured her and she groaned, rolling her eyes.
"The least you could do is kill me, Nikita." Gwen said and rolled her eyes.
"Your sense of humor is-" I frowned once I suddenly noticed some posters of Raven on the walls, I hadn't seen them earlier, or where they there before and I just didn't notice?
"What's this?" I asked as I walked to stand in front of one.
"Oh, Raven's running for class president, student body president."
"Interesting."
"Dylan!" A chirpy voice called, a voice that made me want to puke out of disgust all of a sudden.
I turned to her and she waved lightly.
The blonde, queen of destruction walked over to me, dressed in a black mini skirt and a pink crop top, a fake smile on her face, a face of taunt.
"This bitch." Gwen muttered in disgust.
"Hi!" She grinned. "I have been searching for you all over."
"How can I help you, Quinn?" I asked with a frustrated sigh. Of course I knew what she wanted, I knew why she was here and searching the halls for me.
"So, I heard you and Henry are officially over."
" Okay," I replied. I knew where this was heading, next, she was gonna start blaming me for cheating and I didn't have the energy to react.
"The article said you cheated on him but I don't know, I don't think you could." She said and I arched my brow surprisingly at her.
"Huh?"
She threw her short blonde hair backwards. "Listen, we aren't friends and probably could never be because we are too different and popular in our own ways but you would never cheat," she shrugged. "You always protect the people you love, you stand up for them and I should really hate you and your friends because you've tried to ruin my life."
"We were only returning the favor." I replied.
"But," she continued. "I mean I hate you, but I've seen you and that hot jock that you stole from me together," I rolled my eyes. "You both are exactly what I used to wish for," she admitted, sincerity in her eyes which made me frown, she wasn't lying, she wasn't trying to trick me into believing her lies only to turn me into a laughing stock, I could literally hear the sincerity in her voice.
"And I know it isn't your fault, it was his, Henry. Because if it wasn't then he wouldn't also be pursuing you around the school, trying to have a word with you. If there's one thing I know it's the fact that you're an annoying, evil, piece of shit but, you never intentionally hurt the people you love, which by the way," she sighed dramatically. "Is why I am sort of jealous of Raven, Jaxton and Jon, they have someone like you." She shrugged.
I remained still. "Pinch me, Gwen, did Quinn just say all these?"
"I heard it too." Gwen said, her voice full of shock.
"But, no one should ever know I said these things to you." She said and fixed a smile on her face. "So, all I can say is hang in there and...I still hate all your guts." She grimaced and walked away.
"Wow, I'd be damned, bitch has feelings." Gwen chuckled slightly.
I remained quiet, my hands folded. "I need to use the bathroom." I said, seconds later and turned, walking down the hall and straight to the bathroom.
I hated how people stared at me like I was the cheat but then I couldn't care, I mean if the plastic doll of Eastwood high didn't believe the article then whosoever did had to be dumber than the chicken in moana.
I pushed the door of the bathroom open and walked in, freezing instantly at the sight of Henry sitting on the floor, his heads in his lap. His head rose up once he saw me and I swallowed, he didn't look himself, he didn't look....okay.
But the last thing I could do was give a shit, and I had a million things to do before that. With folded arms, I turned and was about leaving when he called out my name and rapidly rose up from the ground.
"Please just...listen to me."
I didn't want to look at him, I hated him so much that I didn't want to look at him. I loved him so much that I couldn't help but hate him the more.
"I have class."
"Please, just...look at me."
"What does it change?" I asked as I turned to him. "What? You think if I look at you then everything would just be better between us or what? Because I am really trying so hard to understand why we even need to have a conversation."
He swallowed. "I just want to apologize."
"And how long do you plan to do that?" I asked with a slight shrug. "While you're here, wasting away in the bathroom and trying to have people pity you because you're looking pathetic, I'm the one everyone is blaming outside for what happened to us." I chuckled. "Because I don't look like you, because I'm not bothered by the fact that you cheated, because I'm living my life instead of being all miserable."
Henry's brows knitted deeply. "Dylan, I don't...I don't understand what you're-"
"Oh, you wanna tell me you haven't looked at the school gossip site today?" I asked and he shook his head.
"N-No, I haven't. You know I don't look at that stuff because the person is just a coward who sits behind his computer and expose people's secrets for his pleasure, for popularity and it is sick."
I gulped.
We had more in common and even I knew that.
"Well maybe you should, because they're saying that I cheated and now people won't stop looking at me because apparently I ruined their ship when it's the opposite." I laughed.
"Dylan, I had no idea."
"Did you tell someone it was me?"
"What? No, I swear." He said and took a step forward. "Dyl, you know I would never."
"No, I wouldn't. Because I suddenly don't even know who this person is at all. If I knew you were gonna give me this much pain and headache, I'd have gone for Christian or the other boys who actually gave a shit about me, like Timmy Turner." I said and walked out of the bathroom, leaving him stunned.
Fucking prick.
"Dylan," a male voice called behind me and I turned with an angry glare.
"What?!"
He froze. "Um, p-principal Evans a-asked me to get you." He said and I sighed. I said nothing and walked past him, pushing him aside and making my way to principal Evans office.
I walked past the secretary's office who tried to stop me and into his office, entering before knocking.
"You sent for me?" I asked and he smiled.
"Ah, Dylan, do take a seat." He said and I did.
"How are you?"
I frowned. "What's wrong?"
He sighed. "We need to talk about something serious."
"Okay, go ahead."
"It's about school. I mean, you have great grades, you've been doing great,"
"But?" I questioned, waiting for the bad news.
"Your attendance." He said, sadly. "It's...affected and I don't think you can graduate with this."
I scoffed. "You're joking."
"I'm not."
"No, you are. Because this is shit and the only reason I have been missing school is because your school is shit too."
His brows knitted. "Excuse me?"
"You have bullies for students, you have people who make other people's lives miserable all in here and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only senior who is behind on attendance."
"Dylan, listen, I-"
"You let a sociopath in here, who shot me and put me in a coma. Your student threw me down the stairs, gave me PTSD and almost ruined me. Your school isn't a safe haven and if you do not do anything about my attendance, Mr. Evans then you might as well say goodbye to Eastwood high because believe it or not, I'd rather die than see this school move a step forward if I am to repeat a year because of your mistakes and because of your fucking students."
"Dylan, they don't really write the title sociopath on people's head and I'm sure you're not threatening me."
"Principal Evans, you never do anything about the bullying in this school and it has ruined a lot of people. If I hadn't come to Eastwood, I am certain some students would have killed themselves. I have been trying to fight this and if I leave Eastwood then what happens to the others? Hmm? Eric was manipulating your students, Bruce was making their lives miserable, Quinn was being cruel and you even allowed Jaxton to be stripped of his powers when he was the one who created the lgbtq club here and made it safe for us to talk about how we feel, you don't do anything about the bullying in this school! You don't even watch your students, maybe have a security camera around because boys get beaten in the bathroom and locker room, the girls doors have their names and the words slut and whore marked around them, tagged as something they are not because of a rumor."
"You didn't do anything when Raven was slut shamed by the entire school, when Tyler was being bullied and you think you are doing your job?" I laughed. "Do you even know there is a site your school has that releases students secrets? Outs gay kids before they have a chance of coming out themselves. It talks about some student's parents failed marriages and you think their mental health would still be intact when their secret has been spread like a virus to a bunch of high school demons? No. So, you better do something about this and if you think you can keep me here for an extra year because of something that was your fault then you better know that I'm taking you down too, principal Evans."
"There is no way you'd still be principal if I take this matter up and I'm not bluffing and yes, this is a threat. If you must know, I have Kaiden Dunk Frost beside me and he won't hesitate to close you down because his daughter was affected, so you better fix that because I don't care what you say or do, I am going to Harvard and graduating next year. There's still a lot of time to catch up so don't try to get me to stay because that is over my dead body" I said and stood up. "I should get to class."
Principal Evans looked pale, speechless, he kept swallowing the lump in his throat as he stared at me in disbelief. "What the hell happened to you?"
My smile disappeared as I stared at him for a short while. "I grew up." I said and left his office.
***
It was lunch and I was seated with the others, they kept talking while I stared at my meal. Raven arrived and sat beside Jon, a big smile on her face.
"Why you so happy?" Jon inquired.
"Well, I haven't told you all but I'm sure you've seen the posters, I'm running for student president." She shrugged, grinning. "I mean, the previous student body president and vice president moved to Netherland."
"The both of them?" Jaxton asked, stunned.
"Well they are siblings, so." Raven answered.
"Well, that explains it." Jaxton muttered.
"The photos you used were gorgeous." Gwen said and Raven grinned.
"Thank you for helping with the posters, it really meant a lot." Raven appreciated.
"Well, you've got my vote." Jaxton said with a smile.
"Mine too." I replied.
"It's obvious she's gonna win." Jon sighed. "She's contesting against Bruce and Marie."
"My lab partner?" Jaxton frowned. "Shit. She's so nice."
"You already promised to vote for me!" Raven shot him a look.
"Of course. Of course." Jaxton rose his hands in surrender although torn in thoughts about who to vote for. "You know what? Never mind, you have my vote." He smiled.
"I am so gonna win this,"
"Well, Bruce has the votes of all the jocks, or half of them." Jaxton stated.
"I have Zach," Raven smiled. "He can help me, I need this for my college application."
Jon chuckled. "Like you need that to get into Yale."
Raven rolled her eyes. "It'll be good for my reputation and besides we can't have Bruce win."
"As for me, football is my only way to get into college and I need that scholarship." Jon said and I looked at him. Maybe others couldn't tell but I could sense the worry and fear of not getting the scholarship in his tone. He was a great player but I also knew he had younger siblings and his family wasn't exactly rich, I mean the dude had a jeep like that of stiles stilinski and I knew he didn't have to worry but if he kept being negative, he was going to fail.
"I don't think you need to worry, Jon," I said and he looked at me. "You'll get the scholarship, they'll see you're a great player, just don't over think it or you'll mess up, that's how it works and I really need you to get into college and kick people's butt." I said, not a single smile on my face as I spoke.
Jon smiled softly. "Thanks, babe. You're the best there is."
"I know," I said and stood up. "Excuse me." I said and picked up my backpack, walking away.
I wasn't trying to be a bad person, but I didn't want to listen to them talk about being student president and all that, I kinda just needed to be alone and think, and relax.
"Where are you going?" Jaxton asked.
"Somewhere." I replied without turning back. Now while exiting the cafeteria, Bruce was coming my way with two of his favorite half human half dog, he saw me and I knew how much he wanted to taunt me and laugh at the fact that I turned I could turn Henry gay and how I was to be alone forever but he couldn't, he wouldn't dare. Instead, he walked past me, his eyes not leaving me, his eyes said it all, but his lips remained closed.
I had him in my pocket, if he was ever to come for me or any of my friends, I was going to spill his secrets just like the anonymous blogger and I don't even need a computer to do it. At this rate, I couldn't give a shit, you could do whatever the hell you wanted to but the question is; are you ready for when I hit back?
I was walking down the hall, heading to the library when I saw Christian coming my way, a smile on his face like always.
"Hey, Dylan," he called.
I faked a smile as I came to a halt. "Christian, how are you?"
"I'm great. How are...you?"
"I'm okay, where's Tyler?"
"Uh, waiting at the cafeteria for me."
"Sweet."
"Oh uh, I'm...I'm sorry about....you and Henry." He said, sincerely. "Everybody sort of knows about it cause of that damn site."
I gave a small nod. "It's okay, I understand."
"If you need my help or anything, just....don't hesitate to ask, we're still friends after all."
"Of course, thank you, Christian."
"You're welcome."
"I gotta go now, I've got some things to do." I said and he smiled, nodding in understanding.
"Sure. I'll see you around." He said and I replied with a smile, we walked past each other and an idea hit me. Christian could help me, he was smart and he was the exact person I needed.
"Christian." I called, twirling to face him.
"Hmm?" He replied, turning as well.
"I think, there is something you could help me do."
"Uh, sure." He walked back to me. "Anything, what do you want me to do?"
I smirked. "Shouldn't be much work."
****
"I'm hungry, Dylan and I can't pick between noodles and something mom makes that looks disgusting but smells delicious." Taylor said, his face boldly on my laptop.
We had been face timing for over five minutes and he wouldn't leave my screen and honestly, I was enjoying his company.
"Why don't you just eat both?"
Taylor gasped. "You are a genius." He grinned widely like a child.
Now Taylor had a small blue baby hair clip in his hair, holding it up and was wearing an orange singlet and a pair of boxers with black socks. He was too lazy to put-on clothes and besides he's at home, so what's the use of clothes? His words.
"How's Connor?" I inquired and Taylor gasped again.
"Oh, did I tell you Connor's got a boyfriend?"
My brows knitted. "No, you didn't. Really?"
Taylor nodded. "He's cute and he's African, south African as a matter of fact." He smiled. "He's okay, I'm taller so I'm okay with that and I'm hotter."
"You are such a narcissistic."
"I am the definition of perfection, you gotta love yourself to the extent that when you get stabbed with hurtful words, it wouldn't affect you at all because you know, you are the definition of perfect." Taylor said, acting a lot like Asher on how to get away with murder when he got goofy and I smiled softly.
He was right. All you had to do was love yourself till hate had no place and you become your own god.
An aspiration.
"Tell me about Connor's new boyfriend."
"He just came to town like four months ago and his accent is so weird, I mean it's kinda cool but he sounds like a voodoo priest reciting sacrificial spells to the devil."
"Taylor, that's racist." I stated and his mouth suddenly turned to an 'O' shape.
"I-"
"You are a mess." I chuckled.
"Anyways, he doesn't care about Connor's.....you know," he pointed at his legs. "And I don't think he likes you very much, he wanted to know how Connor got stuck in a wheelchair. Connor told him the story and no matter how hard he tried to put you in the light and make him see you were also being manipulated, he just couldn't stop himself from hating you and wants to beat your ass." Taylor explained and I huffed.
"I don't wanna be responsible for his death and besides, Connor didn't have to try put everything in my favor, it is my fault he's on a wheelchair."
"Not entirely."
"Taylor, you don't need to do that too. It is my fault, I did a bad thing and I don't need to cover it up, I'm not someone who likes the whole pity party thing."
"Understandable."
"What's his name?"
"I just call him KJ because I forgot what his name was."
"You've known him for four months."
"You're not good with names either, so don't come for me." Taylor stated and I nodded
"Fair point."
He smiled. "So, how's your boo? Henry!"
Of course I saw this coming.
"I don't have a boo, Taylor."
"I thought his name was Henr- wait, did you two....? Dylan, are you single? what happened?"
I shrugged. "Cheated. We separated. End of story."
Taylor's brows knitted in concern. "Dylan, you're not okay, are you?"
I laughed. "What do you mean? I'm fine. Better. I realized the only person that can ever love me and not let me down is me, I made a mistake is all."
"Dylan," he called softly. "You're hurting."
"No, I'm not. Only the weak feels hurt in cases like this and I am not weak, I only regret letting my guards down." I smiled. "Now enough about this talk, let's talk about-"
"Dylan, no, Nuh uh, we are not skipping this. Listen-" I knew Taylor wasn't going to drop this and I couldn't be more thankful to Gwen for calling at this moment. I picked up my phone from beside me and smiled at Taylor.
"I gotta go now, thank you for your advice."
"I haven't even started." He said and I closed the laptop before answering.
Thank you, Gwen.
"Yeah, I'm about to leave home." I said as i got up from the bed. "Okay, get him there and I'll meet you in ten minutes" I said and gave a nod at her response. "Okay." I said and hung up. It was almost 9pm and I was about to meet Mrs. Olson's dealer, the great mother wasn't so great after all.
I put on my brown coat, I mean it was November, I quickly wore my shoes before walking out of my room. I made my way down the stairs and almost bumped into mom who was coming up. "Oh. Thank God, you're here, I was about to come fetch you. Are you heading out?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, what's up?"
"You've got a visitor." She said and I finally landed from the stairs and walked to the living room, a frown on my face as I went to see whom it was.
He saw me and smiled. "Hello, again."
"Principal Evans?" I looked at mom who shrugged.
"He just appeared." She said and went away.
"Dylan, can we talk?" He said and offered me to seat down in my own home.
"Um, what are we to tali about? Are you about to bribe me? I really have to be somewhere."
"It won't take five minutes, kid." He said and I sighed frustratedly before sitting down.
"Listen, I uh, your words kept ringing in my head and I realized you were right."
"What part exactly?" I asked.
"The bully thing," he answered. "Eastwood high suddenly is filled with teenage titans and I don't want any of my students committing suicide because believe it or not I care about every one of them, I really do and no, I am not here to bribe you or anything, but I think I can help you."
I frowned. "In what way?"
He adjusted his tie, he was still dressed in the same black suit as this morning. "Your application."
"I haven't even started writing mine."
"I mean, this would be good for it. It will help make them think you are capable of being a student of Harvard."
"I'm listening." I said, suddenly intrigued.
"You need to run for student body president."
My brows flew. "Um, no." I shook my head.
"Um, yes." He nodded.
"Raven's already running."
"You are the perfect person for this, Dylan. You could put an end to bullying with me by your side. You can help change Eastwood high, this is a power being bestowed unto you making you the second principal. Listen, the kids at Eastwood high needs someone like you, someone they can look up to, who has always them and never turns his back on his friends. You know you are the right candidate and if you have that power, you can do what is right and when Harvard finds out about this, they'll see that you deserve to be there, that everything that has come up in the news about you these past few months, was all to protect people, was all for the right reason." He said and I remained quiet, listening to every word.
"Because believe it or not but you've been all over the news and trust me, Harvard wouldn't want such drama but you can use this to take a step higher, run for president."
He had a very good point, I could become student president and turn Eastwood high around and then it won't have to affect my application that much. But then, Raven, I needed to speak to her first.
"I'll think about it." I said and he gave a nod before standing.
"You do that and let me know what you think tomorrow." He smiled.
"Thanks, principal Evans." I said and stood up.
"Oh and, don't let your darkness take control of you." He said before leaving, a smile on his face.
I remained still.
But my darkness was me.
***
"I'm sorry I'm late." I said as I made my way towards Gwen and a dude dressed in a red hoodie and black pants. Gwen was putting on a long black stockings, a skirt and a black hoodie.
"Can I really complain?" Gwen replied. "Dylan, this is Robin. Robin, Dylan."
"Yo, what's up?" He said and thrust out his hand for a handshake but my hands remained in my jacket pockets.
"I don't do handshakes."
"Alright. Alright." He nodded. "Full name, Robin Banks."
My brows furrowed. "Robbing banks?"
"Yeah, yeah," he smirked and I looked at Gwen who rolled her eyes.
Robbing Banks had a tattoo below his left eye, some Chinese word and had some gold teeth. He was a gangster, he was tall but not so tall and had a gold wristwatch on.
"Shit," he smiled. "You're that kid who trended more than The Originals this year."
Of course, he also knew me, I couldn't just lay low.
I said nothing and he sighed. "Alright, doesn't talk to much, aiit. I got it. Anyways, what'd you want? I've a lot of old and new products," he winked. "I've got cocaine, baclofen, Amphetamines, Ecto, Modafinil, maze, twister which is one of the best, bro. There's meth, nitrobeng and Ozomophorall."
My brows had puckered at the sound of meth, Gwen scoffed. "For a moment, I thought you were gonna say oxymoron."
Robin sneered at her, I guess they really didn't like each other. He turned to me and a smile was back on his face. "So, which one?" He asked patting the cross bag he had around his body.
"Information."
He remained quiet. "I don't think that's a drug I have." He chuckled.
"You are going to give me information about a certain customer of yours, Robin." I demanded and he scoffed.
"You're shitting me," he said and looked at Gwen in disbelief. "Seriously?"
Gwen smiled. "I'm not the one telling you what to do."
Robin looked back at me. "Fuck you, you little shit."
"Do you really wanna go down that lane?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. I took a step towards him, my eyes never leaving him. "You are going to give me information about this woman at all cost, Robin."
He snickered. "Or else what? You are going to run to daddy and tell him to lock me up? Listen here, you little piece of shit, you can go rot in hell for all I care, I ain't giving you shit."
I smiled. "Tell me something, Robin," I took a step towards him. "Does your mother know about you? What you do?"
Robin huffed. "You trying to threaten me with my fam? You don't even know them."
"Does Acid know you're dealing without his knowledge?" I asked and he froze instantly, as much as he tried to cover it up, it was clear that he was fucking shocked and frightened.
"H-How do you know that name?" He asked, nervously.
I smirked. "What if I tell Acid that you're doing some business without his knowledge? Dealing in huge quantities and scamming him." I gasped to add effect. "You know what I think? I think he'll go all the way to your family's house and come after sweet innocent Gabriella, that's her name right?" I asked, pretending to think. "Your twelve year old darling sister that you think no one happens to know about? They live in Ohio, right? Yeah, that should be it." I said with a chuckle while his eyes widen, his mouth opened, he was desperate to say something but of course he didn't know what to say, I knew everything.
"Your mother thinks you're working here in Eastwood, that you got a descent job. She's happy you didn't follow the steps of your father who happened to be a dealer as well, who got killed for doing the exact same thing you're doing to Acid." I gasped. "Maybe I should call mummy dearest and tell her about the descent job you're doing and how you need a promotion, or wait, should I tell Acid you lied about your family."
Robin trembled, dumbfounded that I knew about the family no one knew here . "You little piece of shit!!" He rushed me, and rapidly gripped me tightly by the coat, pulling me closer. His eyes were filled with anger but also fear, and I wasn't moved by his rage cause I caught on to his fear. I said nothing and just smiled.
"Robin, fucking let him go!" Gwen yelled at him.
"His name isn't even Robin" I smiled. "It's Richard. Richard Davis, he's trying to keep a low profile and went for Robbing Banks as his name, crazy." I chuckled.
Robin Banks Richard Davis, looked at me like I was some supernatural creature. He was definitely asking himself how I knew what his boss didn't know, how I knew about his life which he had kept a secret.
He was scared.
"How the hell did you know all these things? You stay the fucking hell away from my family or I swear to God, I will kill you."
"Keep threatening me, Richard, it turns me on." I grinned. "Oh and if you kill me, I've got about three other people with this information who can just have Acid clear out your entire family for trying to cheat him. Jesus, the audacity, Robin." I said and with a gulp, he let go off me slowly. "That was fun." I said and adjusted my coat.
"Listen here, kid-"
"I give the orders here, Richie." I cut him off and cocked my head to the side as I watched him. He just stared, his mouth shut, the aura of fear oozing out of him made him look pathetic, but then he loved his family and he was going to do anything for them. "It's just a small price to have my lips sealed."
"Who the hell are you?"
"Don't you know already? I'm the guy who trended more than The Originals this year." I replied with a smile that disappeared as soon as it came. "Now, tell me about her." I said as I took out my phone and showed him the photo of Jaxton's mother.
He looked at it and gulped. "Her name is Daniella Olson, she started dealing with me a few months ago. She buys meth from me, I don't think she takes it, I don't know anything apart from that."
I studied him for a couple of seconds. "You are lying." He looked up at me.
"I swear, I'm not."
"You are. You met her recently, didn't you? Tell me everything, Robin, now. I might be a teenager but I am no fool." I assured him.
Robin wiped off the sweat on his forehead and sighed. "I don't know much about her, okay? All I know is she buys in big quantity almost all the time, she leaves town with it and I know she's working with someone. Listen, I do this job to help my family and to give them a better life."
"You're actually putting them in danger by doing this job." Gwen suddenly spoke. "Did it ever occur to you?"
Robin turned to her. "Why do you think I changed my identity and told everyone my family was dead? I'm a poor kid, no one would know my family except if they work with the police and hell even the police would find it difficult but this kid," he looked at me. "Just popped up and knows everything about my damn life."
I smiled. "Who is she working with? Daniella Olson." I inquired.
"I don't really ask questions but I do know he's a dealer too, he lives in another town and she works with him. He used to deal alone but suddenly he let her in."
"What does he look like?" I asked, trying to get more details on her partner.
"Well, he is tall, Hispanic like her and-" he frowned as if realizing something which made me frown as well.
"What? What is it?" I questioned.
"It's just...I never really thought about it but when he came here with her for the first time and introduced us, I just paid attention to it because it was business, y'know?" He said and looked at me. "But, they did....sort of look alike." He said and I frowned, exchanging looks with Gwen.
"Look alike?" Gwen repeated.
"Yeah, he had her eyes and uh, I mean yeah, they did have the same face."
"So, a brother?" Gwen asked, hugging herself.
"Nah, I doubt he is, I mean he could be but they acted more like mother and son than brother and sister." Robin shrugged.
"She only has one son and he's a highschool student." I spoke.
Robin shook his head. "Then I don't know, I'm sure this guy ain't no highschool kid."
"You're not lying, are you?" Gwen asked and Robin gave her a look.
"He's not." I said. He was definitely telling the entire truth and it bugged me. "He's telling the truth. What else do you know about him?"
"You only asked about the woman." He stated.
"And he's linked to her, so spill." I retorted.
Robin looked scared, he looked around and back at me. "His name is Jeremy, okay, that's all I know. And he ain't no highschool kid, he about twenty three or so and that woman about forty something."
I went through my gallery and showed him a photo of Jaxton. "Is this the guy you saw with her?"
Robin looked at it and shook his head again. "This ain't him, this ain't the boy she came here with. I mean, he's gotta be taller. Jeremy's a man like me and he also kinda looks like this kid."
If it wasn't Jaxton then...
"Daniella Olson," I put my phone back into my pocket. "Has another son?" I looked at Gwen, confused.
"Well, I'd be damned." Gwen muttered.
"Please, you mustn't tell anyone about my family." Robin begged. "They are all I got."
I smiled. "No problem, Richard. My lips are sealed and no one is gonna know."
"Thank you." He said and shook his head at me. "You really are one crazy, fucked up, evil kid."
I smiled. "Thank you." I said right before he began to walk backwards.
"One more thing," I cleared my throat and he halted.
"What?"
"How did she pay Jeremy's dept?" I inquired.
"Something about a kid's college fund." He answered.
"College fund?" Gwen repeated. "He doesn't mean..."
"Jaxton's." I finished
"That fucking bitch." Gwen snarled. "And do we really believe the story of another child?"
I turned to her. "The bitch has so many secrets, Gwen. It shouldn't be a shocker but I didn't expect a secret child to be one of them." I hissed.
"How do we tell Jaxton?" Gwen asked and I looked back at Robin.
"He wouldn't believe us, except he saw it for himself." I muttered and smiled at Robin. "When are you to meet her again?"
"In three days."
"That's a long time. You are going to call her tonight and tell her you are leaving town for a month, so she should come see you tomorrow night by eight, right here." I ordered and he shook his head.
"No, I'm not doing that."
"You will and you better not try to fuck with me, Richard." I said, glaring at him. "When I'm angry, I tend to be very dangerous and can't be tamed. You really don't wanna know what a kid like me can do when he's mad, so if you try to play me at all, you'd be attending funerals." I threatened.
"Call her tonight and tell her, if you haven't realized I can read people, so if you lie to me, I'll know. You might be older than me but I promise you, you'd never meet a seventeen year old more evil and crazy like me." I said and slowly smiled. "You have Gwen's number, text her when the deed is done. Goodnight." I said and turned. "Come on, Gwen." I said as I walked ahead.
"Dylan," Gwen called as she appeared beside me. "How did you know his name wasn't Richard? And how did you know all that about his family? Even my cousin didn't know that and they are fucking close."
I smiled. "Like I said, didn't you learn anything from Annalise Keating? I have my own source."
"Christian," I called, twirling to face him.
"Hmm?" He replied, turning as well.
"I think, there is something you could help me do."
"Uh sure," he walked back to me. "Anything. What do you want me to do?"
I smirked. "Shouldn't be much work."
Christian frowned. "With a smirk like that, it sounds illegal."
"Maybe it is, I need you to find everything you can on a certain person?"
"Who?" He asked, his brows knitted.
I pulled out my phone and went to my gallery, showing him the screenshot Gwen had sent me, he took the phone from me and stared at it.
"His name is Robin."
"And his Instagram username is Fisheye underscore Robin?"
"Lame, I know." I huffed.
"Who is he? He doesn't look....good."
"I can't give you all the details but I promise it's important, I am trying to save a friend and he won't tell me everything I need unless I've got some dirt on him, a big one." I explained. "I've looked him up but there's nothing and then I thought to come to you, you're the smartest one when it comes to things like this."
Christian looked away from the picture and at me. "It that bad?"
I nodded. "Trust me."
"I do, because you always look out for people more than you should, yourself." Christian said, clearly hinting at something that I caught on to. "Forward the photo to me and I'll see what I can do."
I smiled. "Is it possible to get it before nine?"
Christian smirked. "You'll get it before six." He said and I grinned.
"Thank you."
"Anytime."
••5:15pm••
"So, his name isn't Robin?" I asked as I stared at the file Christian had given me containing everything about Robin Richard. He was sitting on my bed, typing away on his laptop.
"Yup, Richard Davis. He has two siblings, a brother age sixteen and a sister age twelve." He answered.
I scoffed. "And he works for a drug lord, how did you even know this part?" I asked, turning to face him.
Christian smirked. "Like you said, I'm the smartest."
I looked back at the files, even printed photos of his family. "You really are good at this, you should be a Detective, Christian."
"You think?"
"I know, you'd be badass at this, or at least work for the police. You did what would take the police days to crack. Imagine we work together in the future, maybe I have a law firm and we work side by side, we'd be unstoppable."
Christian chuckled. "Are you making me a Frank?"
"I didn't say anything about murder." I gave a little smile. "
"So tell me," He closed the laptop. "About him. This friend."
"It's a secret."
"Teams don't keep secrets." Christian said and I chuckled.
Whoever said we were a team?
I looked up at him. "This one does."
"The least you could do is tell me a little."
I smirked. "The least I could do is tell you it's connected to Jaxton, I don't think he'd want people knowing what it's about."
His brows rose. "Does he know? About this thing you're doing? Because one thing I know about your way of helping is the fact that they never know until it's done. "
"Well then," I closed the file. "You just answered your question, Tate."
Present
"Keep me updated." Gwen said once she parked in front of my house.
"Of course, you're the only one I can count on with this and remember. This remains a secret between us."
Gwen nodded. "I promise not to tell a soul."
"Text me when you get home." I said as I got out of the car.
"Goodnight, maleficent."
"Goodnight." I replied, and with a smile, she drove off.
I took out my phone and dialed Jon's number, I placed my phone against my ear and waited as it rang.
"Hello, Dylan, what's up?" He answered.
"Can you come over tonight? I need your help with something."
"What is it?"
"Some fliers and posters." I smiled. "I'm running for president."
•••
RAVEN'S P.O.V
"Don't forget to vote." I said with a smile as I passed a card to one of the students, a smile printed on my face.
"Vote for Raven." Gwen said and passed a flier to a student.
"I am so excited." I said and turned to Raven. "This is so going to help my application for when I get into Yale. My aunt said I've been in the news and well, you know the whole....almost-got-raped-by-sociopath-Judas thing got out, so uh, yeah, a lot of people know about it since it spread but this, this is gonna help."
"I'm glad you're running, Raven." Gwen said with a smile as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "You deserve this, you deserve to go to Yale. I don't think there's a better candidate than you, you're so going to win this, I mean, it's just you and Bruce and some other kid," Gwen scoffed. "They'll definitely pick you."
"You are the best, Gwen." I said and gave her a hug. "Oh, student body secretary, he's coming." Gwen whispered and I pulled away, swiftly turning, I smiled. "Hi, don't forget to vote for me as president." I said to him and handed him a card of mine.
The student secretary was a black kid with afro, he was tall and cute, slim as well. He looked at the card and smiled before handing it to me. "No, thanks," he said as I slowly took it from him, confused as hell.
"What do you mean no thanks?"
"I'm voting for Dylan." He said before leaving and my confusion leveled up to a hundred.
"Dylan?" I turned my glance to Gwen who also looked confused. "What is he going on about?"
Gwen shrugged and then her eyes widen and her mouth slightly parted. "Oh shit." She cursed and I turned, following her stare to a wall where a poster was placed. I walked up to it and behold it had Dylan's photo on it, with the words. "Vote for Dylan Dexwell."
"What the fuck?!" My eyes widen as I stared at it. I looked around and it was then I realized there were a lot of posters of him on this side of the hall. "He's...he's running?" I found myself asking in a loud voice.
I scowled and walked really fast, searching for Dylan around the halls and then I finally found him with a smile on his face. Jon was standing beside him and they were both sharing fliers and pins as they spoke to kids who smiled back.
"Dylan!" I called and stormed over to him. "What the hell is going on?" I asked and he slowly turned to me.
"What do you mean?"
"You're running for president too?"
"Yeah," he shrugged.
"But, I'm running, I told you."
He nodded. "And I'm running too. It turns out I need this more than anybody does in this school."
"You were in on this?" I asked, turning my gaze to Jon.
His eyes widen. "Um, he asked for...my help."
"Dylan, you don't understand, I need this." I said and he didn't look a little affected.
"Listen, I also need this. Besides, I'm the best shot they've got here and they need someone like me too." He replied.
"You said I had your vote." I reminded.
"Yeah, that was before I found out I'd be running for president." He tsked.
"How could you?" I had to admit I was disappointed, more like hurt that he was doing this after I announced I was going to be running for president.
"What did I do?" He asked, sounding like he knew not what he just did.
"You could have at least told me you were running."
"I don't owe you anything, Raven."
"I deserve an explanation at least!"
"No, you don't." I replied. "Because whatever I do concerns me, okay? You need this? Great, you can run, I'm not asking you to stop but don't ask me to stop because I need this too."
"Is this...some prank? It has to be right?"
Dylan sighed. "The earlier you get the picture, the better. You didn't really have any competition before because yeah, truthfully you could have won but now," he smiled. "You have one and you better put in all your hard work, your soul, everything you have to offer because I am not letting anyone win this. I am going to be student body president and no one, not even the devil is going to stop me, and you ain't even the devil." He snorted.
I gulped, if Dylan was running then he was right, I was in for a big competition. I couldn't believe what was happening, I was going to run against my best friend and the truth was, I knew he was capable of winning.
"You don't need to worry, Raven." Gwen said as she glared at him. "We've got the support of the cheerleaders and the football team and half the basketball team. Before the end of the week, we'd be on the top." She said and flashed him a smile but all Dylan did was smile.
"You might want to reconsider because I'm helping him get support from the team." Jon said and bit his bottom lip. "Sorry."
Gwen gulped. "Well at least we've got the cheerleaders."
"Not all." The most annoying voice said and went to stand beside Dylan. I frowned at her, then Dylan, who didn't even say a word but smiled.
"Quinn? What is..."
"I am going to help him get the vote of half the cheerleaders and you know how I own half of them, so think again." Quinn said with a smirk.
"You see." Dylan said and I looked back at him. "You might have to start afresh because it seems you're losing everything you gained." He chuckled. "It's only a matter of time before I become president." He pouted. "Oh, Raven, don't be like that. I love you, I really do, but sometimes we gotta go for what we gotta when we have no choice, and also show the people who take us for granted what we are capable of." He said and cocked his head to the side.
The last sentence made my brows knit, what was he hinting at? "What do you mean?"
"Have a nice day, Raven, I have a campaign to take care of." Dylan said, a smile still on his face.
I huffed. "Well then, challenge accepted." I smiled at him. "Let's see how you win with me in the way."
Dylan's brow rose. "I'll see you on election day, sweetie." He said and I turned.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, my smile faded and I began to walk away. If I didn't put in my hundred percent then I sure as hell was going to lose and deep down, I knew my hundred percent wasn't going to be enough.
Shit.
I was fucked.
"You need to calm down, Raven." Gwen said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Have you seen those posters? He looks like a serial killer in one of them." I said with a sigh.
We were in the girls bathroom and I was resting against the wall and Gwen against the sink.
"I know, I saw it." Gwen chuckled.
"And people still like that."
"More like like him. We both know Dylan has made a name for himself in this school, a good name and no matter what happens people will remember him as the kid who is against bullying, saved a lot of kids and his best friends." Gwen said and I sighed again.
"Yeah, I know, I know. He has the upper hand."
"Which is why it is always good to do good and not be a bitch." Gwen said and I gave her a look before rolling my eyes.
"Have you noticed his eyes lately?" I asked. "Ever since they broke up, there's this....darkness, they cloud them and the spark, the light that always used to be there just....went out. I know I sound like I make no sense but-"
"No," she cut in. "I understand. I've seen it." She said as if remembering something but I didn't ask.
"He's not the same happy kid who after getting shot and being in a coma still cracked jokes on the hospital bed." I chuckled.
Gwen smiled. "I feel like that kid died."
"And now," I sighed. "I'm contesting against Voldemort, oh joy."
Gwen chuckled. "Be positive, we will win."
"You think so?"
"Not at all." She shook her head.

Dylan's P.O.V
I knocked on his door and seconds later it opened, Jaxton blinked, a little shocked that I was here.
"Dylan, wow, I didn't know you were coming."
"What? I have to call to come see my best friend now?"
His eyes widen. "What? No, come on now, you know I didn't mean that."
I smiled. "I'm messing with you."
Jaxton relaxed and chuckled. "Asshole, come in." He said and I did. I took off my coat and stared at Gwen who was already here and playing with Sofía.
"Hey, Dylan," she smiled. "What are you doing here?" She asked. She was acting like she didn't know I was coming, it was the only way to not look that suspicious, so she had to be here before me.
"I came to see Sofía." I said and the little girl quickly stood up, she screamed my name and ran to me, wrapping her arms around my legs.
"Hey sweetie, how are you?" I asked, running my hand through her hair.
She giggled. "I'm good, Gwen bought me a dress."
"Really?"
She nodded. "It's pink and has magical stones." She said, giddily.
"You guys really spend a lot on her." Jax sighed. "She's gonna grow up like Raven."
I chuckled and then Mrs. Olson walked into the living room saying something in Spanish, she looked at me and paused.
I faked a smile at her. "Mrs. Olson."
"Dylan."
"I'd say it's nice to see you but, I'm not allowed to lie."
She snorted. "Same here." She said and walked into the kitchen.
"Okay, you both shouldn't talk to each other." Jaxton said and I sat beside Gwen. "Speaking of Raven," Jaxton furrowed his brows at me. "I saw your campaign posters, you're running?"
"Well, duh."
"Dylan, you know Raven's already running."
"Um, where's the law that says I can't run because Raven is?" I asked and Jaxton rolled his eyes.
"You know what I mean, we should be helping her win not...contesting against her."
"Well, I need it Jaxton, I'm doing this for myself." I said and looked at Gwen. "And I know you wanna say something so don't even."
"I was going to say we should go get pizza." Gwen said with a shrug.
"Fine by me." I gave a small nod.
"Why not just call them?" Jaxton asked and took out his phone.
"Uh, because there's this new place and I want you all to come see it and eat there with me and then," Gwen stood up. "We can go watch a movie."
"I like that idea, let's go." I said and stood up.
"I can't." Jaxton refused. "I have to help my mom and Sofía and I can't just leave the house so we can call an ordinary pizza and watch a movie on Netflix, yay."
I looked at Gwen who in return, also looked at me and I knew she could understand what my eyes were saying and my mind.
A little louder and a little more convincing.
"Oh come on, Jaxton!" She rose her voice up a little. "Netflix gets boring sometimes, let's just go to this new place and then watch this new Hispanic movie that just came out."
"I'll pass."
"Jaxton, seriously? You're saying no to free things? How dare you?" I needed to push him, or more, his mother.
"Listen, guys, I love you both but let's do this tomorrow, okay?"
"Jaxton," Mrs. Olson called and he turned. "You should go with your friends, they are right." She said and I looked at Gwen with a smirk, she was trying so hard not to smile as well.
"Mama, come on, you need me here and-"
"I can take care of Sofía, go have some fun, okay? And I can't stand that white witch." She said, sneering at me and I smiled. "So, just go have fun, baby."
Jaxton smiled. "You sure?"
She nodded. "Positive."
Jaxton turned to us and the smiles disappeared
"I hate you guys, now let me go change." He said and I quickly grabbed him by the arm.
"No need, let's go."
"But,"
"You look gorgeous already, come on, the movie starts by eight." Gwen said and we all hurried out, saying our farewells to sweet Sofía. Once we got out and while Jaxton complained as he walked to Gwen's car, Gwen and I did a fist bump behind him and had a victory smirk on our faces.
"I don't even really watch Spanish movies!"
I replied. "Don't worry, Jaxton, you won't be able to stop watching this one."
