58. his true motive

Within minutes Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Sehyoon had joined up where the flair went off from. As well as a few other soldiers that Sehyoon was searching with, including Ioda.

San explained the situation to everyone as best as he could even telling them the plan he had come up with while he'd been waiting for their arrival.

Everyone automatically began raising their objections about the plan. Especially the part where Yeonjun were concerned. But it's not like they had a choice.

But first thing's first they needed to find Yunho.

Hongjoong had called for a little side meeting between his brothers and San. "I don't trust him you guys" Hongjoong whisper shouts as he glances back to the heretic who simply grins in his direction. "He's notorious for lying and acting selfishly-"

"But what other options do we have right now?" San cuts him off, his voice coming out more like a whisper shout. His brows furrowed and lips in a frustrated frown. "He literally threatened to kill me, of course I don't trust him but we need to end this. And now. He knows where the channel is. And he can help stop Jaejoong"

"And if it's a trap?" Wooyoung speaks for the first time.

San awkwardly avoids his gaze. "Well then I guess we'll figure it out from there" Wooyoung frowns at him. Ok so he's definitely avoiding speaking to me, I wasn't just imagining it...

The entire time they'd been waiting for the others to show up with Yeonjun he noticed San didn't speak to him. He just paced back and forth and avoided his gaze. At first he thought maybe he was just stressed and needed the space but there was definitely something going on. Is he mad at me?

"Fuck" Hongjoong curses under his breath as he ran a hand through his jet black disheveled hair.

"Who even is he? What's you guys' history with him anyways?" San whispers directing the question to Hongjoong.

"That's a story for another time" The oldest prince says on an annoyed mutter. He turns around to address everyone else, including Seonghwa and the other drows. "Lets get going. Lead the way" Hongjoong says to Yeonjun with the nastiest glare. If looks could kill...

"It's been so long yet you still carry around that ugly scowl on your face. I know vampires can't grow old but you can still get frown lines y'know" Yeonjun says in a playful voice as he walks past him. To his surprise, Hongjoong doesn't say anything.

Yeonjun then raises his finger up ever so slightly, eyes closed, and began chanting something. A teleportation spell. And before anyone could ask what he was doing their environment completely changed.

The group that was once standing in the middle of an empty street was now in a forest. A few of the drows make startled sounds at the sudden change.

Yeonjun doesn't say anything though and just began walking through a clearing, pushing past some low hanging branches. Hongjoong followed close behind him. Then Seonghwa. And as San goes to follow the group Wooyoung holds him back by the arm. His fingers gently wrapping around his forearm.

San snaps his head back at him with furrowed brows. "Hold on a sec" Wooyoung mutters under his breath. "Can we talk for a minute?"

San only cocks his head to the side in question, glances at the rest of the men disappearing past the trees, then turns to look back at Wooyoung. "What is it?" He sounded impatient.

Wooyoung sighs with exasperation. "Are you upset at me? You've been acting weird since Yeonjun showed up"

"I'm not" San says defensively. "Look, can we talk about this later? Now's kinda not the time" He says in a hesitant voice. Wooyoung just narrows his eyes as he stared San right in his deep hazel eyes. He loosened his grip around the drow's arm and San turns to walk off, wanting to catch up with everyone else.

Wooyoung just stood there momentarily before he shook his head and rubbed his eyebrows in annoyance. Was he missing something? What did he mean we'll talk about 'this' later? What exactly is this? He was upset that San was upset at him, as ridiculous as the whole thing sounded. But he decided to drop it for now seeing as it really wasn't the time.

When Wooyoung catches up with them they were stood in front of a very large cave. Yeonjun murmured something under his breath and the stone over the entrance began slowly rolling to the side. Before they knew it they were stood inside a lantern lit cave. And in the middle, laying and chained to a stone table was Yunho.

The tall male was unconscious. Or sleeping. Or having a seizure. They weren't sure. But he was lightly convulsing, his body shaking like leaf. Forehead and skin damp with sweat. His white bangs stuck to his skin in clumps. His eyes were closed and hands in fists beside him as he dug his nails into his palms, hard, drawing blood.

Sehyoon was the first to bolt to him, a determined look on his face. Seeing his brother suffer so much... being used and traumatized like this... it made his heart ache. It felt like no matter what he did he could never truly protect him. But he refused to let himself falter.

"See if you can get the chains around his ankles off" Sehyoon says with a grunt to of the drows as he pulls at the chains around Yunho's wrist.

San stood with petrified yet slightly glossy eyes as he watched Yunho's face. Though his eyes were closed he could see the fear and anguish on his expression. The tracks of fresh tears lining the side of his face and leading to his ears. The way his chest shook and his lips quivered. Like he was having an awful dream.

The minute he was free and pulled off the table, he stopped convulsing and fell limp in Sehyoon's arms. Yeonjun who'd been standing to side in complete silence then tried vampire speeding towards Yunho, his face changed and fangs bared as if to attack him.

But Wooyoung was quicker and he vamp sped in front of him pushing him back. Yeonjun flew against a table pushed along the cave wall, scattering the books and jars of herbs on the grounds. Wooyoung hisses, his fangs so bared. "I knew you were up to something" He says in an accusatory voice. He'd been watching Yeonjun quietly ever since they stepped into cave. Waiting to see what his goal was. Because he knew the heretic. Why had he decided to just join forces with them? He knew that the male didn't help anyone without a catch. And there was always a catch.

Yeonjun pulls himself to his feet with a light laugh. "Perceptive as always" He says in a dark voice as he watches Wooyoung's grey eyes. His fangs peeking past his lips.

"What the hell are you doing?" Hongjoong demands stepping forward. "You said you'd help"

"Yeah. I did. And this is me helping" Yeonjun says in a tone that was matter-of-fact. The dark veins around his blood shot eyes grows thicker as he shifts his misty grey eyes to Yunho who was now slowly blinking awake. "He needs to die"

San steps up to him, eyes narrowed in anger. "What? Are you crazy?"

Yeonjun rolls his eyes. "In order to stop Jaejoong, the druid needs to die. Trust me"

"Trust you?" San mocks and ends with a laugh. "Right now I'm considering why we even let you help in the first place"

"Jaejoong is a mad man and he's completely his fucking mind-" Yeonjun starts.

"Yeah we got that" Hongjoong barks, cutting him off.

"He wants to awaken Dresrak" Yeonjun says loudly. The rooms falls quiet and the drows looks at each other in confusion. Hongjoong's eyes widen and his lips parts slightly.

San looks from Yeonjun to Wooyoung to Hongjoong. Confusion etched out on his expression. "Who?" Wooyoung looks just as confused.

"He wouldn't" Hongjoong whispers with disbelief.

"He would. And he will if we don't kill him. Now" Yeonjun points at the drow who was sitting up weakly against Sehyoon on the ground, his eyes tired.

"Can someone explain what the fuck is going on here?" Sehyoon calls out in agitation. "Who the hell Dresrak?"

"The last remaining dragon from the old world" Hongjoong says before Yeonjun could. "I read about him in some old book years ago. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, there existed a race of dragons with an ability to shift from man to beast. Evil and wicked beings that spread chaos where ever they went. They were at war against angels and archangels which resulted most of the dragon population being wiped out. The rest went into hiding.

Over the next several years they were hunted and killed by the angels into extinction. Of all the dragons Dresrak was the most bloodthirsty. He killed for fun. Mothers, children. No one was exempt. Knowing he was one of the last ones left he hid himself several feet under the earth, irreversibly turning himself to stone. It's assumed he's dead but no one knows for sure. No one's been able to find his corpse in... ever. In fact, up till now I honestly thought it was just a myth. So how... how does Jaejoong know where he is?!" Hongjoong's nose flares open as he stares at Yeonjun with wide eyes.

A chill washes over the whole room as everyone stood in absolute silence, taking in Hongjoong's words.

"The man's been searching his whole fucking life" Yeonjun says. "He never told anyone about it except me and a few other witches in his inner circle. I figured maybe the damn dragon didn't even really exist so I personally didn't care if he went on his little wild goose chase to find some ancient dragon in an imaginary cave underground. But he did it. He found him" Yeonjun says flatly. "And now he wants to not only awaken him back but merge with him to create some vampire-dragon hell on earth. And you and I both know that with that much power in his hands, the world as we know it is over. He'll wipe everything out. Starting with werewolves" Yeonjun shifts his gaze to Seonghwa momentarily.

Seonghwa's breath hitches. Goosebumps forms on Wooyoung's arms as chills repeatedly ran up and down his spine.

"And what does Yunho have to do with this?" San demands, his eyes dark. He refused to let himself be rattled.

"In other to revive him he needs a blood a sacrifice from a direct descendant of archangels and the 3 main races descending from dragons; vampires, werewolves and witches. Druids were the last living descendants of the archangels but he killed them all before he'd realized this. In order for the revival to work all 4 sacrifices must be made. There's only one druid left and it's him" He points at Yunho again. "Which means he. has. to. die"

"If you knew where he was all this time why didn't you just kill him then?" Hongjoong asks the burning question.

"That hag Chiyo put up a barrier that protected him against other witches ruining Jaejoong's spell" He rubs his forehead in annoyance. "If I tried touching him I would've burst into flames and burned to death so I figured I'd let you guys take the fall"

"Wait, so you let us near him not knowing if her spell applied to vampires or drows?" San spat out in disbelief, stepping to the older male. "Someone could've died!"

Yeonjun shrugged. "Collateral. I'm only looking after myself" He says with a shrug. "Now is someone going to take him out or should I do it?" His voice was void of any his usual playfulness.

"We're not killing anyone" Ioda's voice booms, making his presence known for the first time. "You take us to Jaejoong and we'll deal with him"

Yeonjun snorts as he tries to hold back his laughter. "You can't kill Jaejoong. Not with all the witches he has protecting him. In his inner circle is a coven of witches that protects him. I was one of them but seeing as I'm the only one who realizes how insane Jaejoong's plan is I cut ties. I'm not going to let him bring back Dresrak, that war hungry maniac"

"You've always been a coward, Yeonjun" A deep voice echoes loudly in the air causes everyone to freeze. Their environment changes and it looked like they had been teleported to a different place.

"I knew you'd be the first to double cross me. Lucky for me I thought ahead and figured out what you'd do even before you'd do it" Jaejoong says again from where he was standing next to one of several lanterns lighting up the cave.

Yeonjun spins around to face the man, his nose flares and jaw clenched. Everyone in the group raised their weapons and were on their guards as they slowly took in their new environment. 4 witches lined the walls of the cave, 1 male the other 3 were female. They must've been responsible for teleporting them there.

But what causes San's jaw to drop and his breath to hitch was the opening in the underground cave that revealed a giant sleeping dragon made of stone. The thing looked at least 30 meters tall and that's with it laying down and its wings pressed against its back. It probably would stand much taller once awakened.

A few of the drows step back with fear and disbelief at the sheer size of the creature. "Beautiful isn't it?" Jaejoong asks with a laugh as he looks back at the stone beast. A cold chill washes over the entire room.
