36. vs. heartbreak
Hey! Just a quick psa before today's chapter. I just wanted to remind you guys that while I do appreciate and encourage feedback and/or opinions on how the plot should move, remember that ultimately it's still my story and I'm free to write what I enjoy. That's part of what makes this hobby enjoyable and motivates me to keep putting out chapters. I'm not writing to please or fulfill the wishes of any one individual.
If any of the choices made displeases or really upsets you, I'm sorry, and I hope you can look past it and keep reading. I'm only saying this because I noticed a few people last chapter seemed upset with the direction of the story. I won't be changing anything unfortunately but I'll do what I can and take your comments into consideration moving forward :) Thanks for all being so supportive tho despite how messy and dramatic I tend to make my stories lol (I swear it's a habit I'm trying to unlearn!)
Ok back to your regularly scheduled program!
Sunlight hits Seonghwa's face from past the leaves at the top of the tree. He winces and stirs away, sitting up slowly and looking around slightly disoriented.
Junkyu was practically sleeping on top of Jongho. He was cuddled on him like a baby koala to his mother. The vampire meets Seonghwa's eyes, pleading for help. Seonghwa couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.
He looked around and saw that Wooyoung and San still weren't back. They had left last night and had been gone a while and he thought about going to look for them just in case they were in trouble or ran into that heretic that apparently is trying to kill Wooyoung. But then he talked himself out of it. The last thing he wanted to do was to make San even more upset with him. So he just went to sleep hoping they'd be back this morning. Still no sign of them though.
"Did Mujin come back?" Seonghwa asks and Jongho raises a finger to his lips then points to the sleeping male on his chest as if to say 'be quiet, he's sleeping'. Seonghwa nods and pulls himself to his feet deciding he'll go find them himself.
Just then a familiar scent wafts up his nose and he freezes. "Jongho" He calls out.
"Shh" Jongho hushes in annoyance when Junkyu stirs, his eyes fluttering open.
"Jongho get up. Now!" He hastily backs up and Jongho sits up in alarm once he sees how freaked out Seonghwa was. The werewolf looks around, eyes searching the trees madly.
"What? What is it" Jongho helps Junkyu get up, the merman rubs his eyes tiredly.
"The heretic, she's he-"
"In cohorts with a werewolf? You and Wooyoung sure are quite alike. For one, no sense of loyalty to your own people" Chiyo's voice sounds from the trees and Seonghwa tries to pin point where she was. But that's just it, it was impossible because she was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Her scent was also scattered around and it was impossible to locate her. Seonghwa growls, his nose scrunches as he shifts to his wereman form.
Jongho shields Junkyu, he too having changed. His blood shot eyes watching the trees carefully. "Wooyoung isn't here" Jongho responds. "We split ways" He lies in hopes that Wooyoung and San weren't currently making their way back at that moment.
Chiyo laughs. Her laugh menacing and ghastly, it sent a chill down Jongho's spine. "Do you think I'm stupid? Besides I'm here for you as well. Did you think Jaejoong was going to let your betrayal go unpunished?
A silence settles and everyone stays still. Waiting.
"It's time to stop running amock and bringing shame to your family name" She says clearly and no longer an echo in the trees, her voice coming from behind them.
They quickly turn and was face to face with the smug smiling face of Chiyo. Her red painted lips curved upwards ever so slightly.
San releases a long sigh as he cuddled closer to Wooyoung's body. They were laying in a field of dandelions, enjoying the rising sun together. The previous night still fresh in both their minds. After their first orgasm they had gone multiple more rounds, switching positions and locations, and never growing tired.
Vampire sex was amazing. Unlike when he was still a drow and would get worn out or too bruised up to keep going. Or when he was with Seonghwa and had to hold back and hide his face because he didn't want the werewolf to find out what he really was. Now, it was like everything had been amplified by a thousand. He didn't have to hide his face, he didn't have to hold back. And he never got tired. Just endless bliss.
San wraps his leg around Wooyoung's torso and places his chin on his shoulder so he could look at him. Wooyoung turns his head to him and a sweet smile grows on his lips. "Hey" He whispers into San's lips and San grins back, eyes half lidded. He presses his lips against Wooyoung's for a wet kiss, one that Wooyoung didn't hesitate to return.
San's hand slides up Wooyoung's chest and lands in the side of his neck, holding him firmly as he angled his head, pulled himself closer to the prince and deepened the kiss.
Wooyoung holds San's arm then snakes his arm around his torso. His blood rushed to his ears and the field of butterflies in his stomach scattered as San kisses him with so much passion and intensity.
Their tongues slowly overlapped in a sensual dance. Hands roaming, desperately searching for skin. San feels his breath hitch when Wooyoung's hand slips under his shirt and crawls up his back creating goosebumps along his spine. His fingers tangle in Wooyoung's dark hair, pulling lightly and causing the vampire prince to moan into the steamy kiss.
Finally they break apart, swollen lips parted, the tips of their noses touching and eyes shut as they caught their breath, silently and attentively listening to the other breathe. "We should head back soon" San whispers feverishly. "It's morning and Jongho might start to worry"
Wooyoung groans. He knew San was right but it didn't mean he wanted to go back. All he wanted was to lay in that field, surrounded by tall grass and kiss San forever and ever.
But unfortunately they had the night to escape and be alone for a while, it was time to head back to reality. "Fine" Wooyoung says with a pout and San chuckles. He places one last peck on Wooyoung's lips then stands up, lowering his hand and helping Wooyoung get up as well.
They make their back, hand in hand, and walking extra slow to at least prolong how long they had alone if only by a minute or two.
Wooyoung was laughing at something San had said when San immediately halts them. "Shh" He shushes Wooyoung and the vampire prince looks at him, slightly confused and also alarmed. His brows furrow as he waited for San to explain why he shushed him.
San points to his ears as if to say 'listen' and Wooyoung focused his hearing. He picks up Chiyo's voice.
"Where's Wooyoung?"
"I told you we split ways" Jongho's voice. He pulls Junkyu closer behind him.
Just then Chiyo flicks her wrist sending Junkyu flying and slamming against a tree. The merman gets the wind knocked out of him and he passes out, a bit of blood sliding down his temple from where his head hit the tree trunk hard.
"Junkyu!" Jongho wails and Seonghwa tries charging at her but she simply glances at him and a painful ringing echoes in his head, blocking out ever sound like a dog whistle. He groans in agony and fell to his knees, hands over his ears.
"I won't ask again, where's Wooyoung?" Chiyo steps closer to him and Jongho instinctively backs up, his grey eyes were narrowed with icy hate and he watches her silently, not saying a single word. He'd rather die than give up Wooyoung.
Chiyo bit her inner cheek. It's obvious she was growing agitated at his resilience but it's not like she could kill him, her orders were to bring Jongho back alive. It's clear he had unshakable loyalty to his brother. So she had to think a little differently. She was tired of chasing the Wooyoung. It's time she made him come to her instead.
She raises her hand and flicks her finger causing Jongho's left leg to break, the sickening crack, loud and horrible. "Aghh" Jongho cries out in pain and he fell to the ground.
Wooyoung flinches from behind the tree he and San were hiding. His blood turns cold and he clenches his fist, his knuckles turning white.
"Wooyoung, I know you're out there" Chiyo says in a sing-song voice as she walks closer to Jongho and flicks another finger. This time his other leg breaks and he fell to his back crying out in agonizing pain. "Fuck!" The vampire curses, gritting his teeth as he tried controlling his breathing. His vision was red with anger and all he thought about was ripping the heretic apart limb by limb.
"You wouldn't let your baby brother keep suffering like this would you? Turn yourself in" She demands. When there was no sign of movement and flicks her finger once more and his arm cracks, bending in a painful angle. Jongho cried out again but he tried to muffle it so it comes out strained instead. His breathing was jagged and sweat beads formed on his forehead. I'm going to kill this bitch..
Wooyoung couldn't take it anymore. Hearing Jonghos cries of pain and Seonghwa's groans in agony. And know he was responsible for it.. it was too much. So he runs towards the clearing. San tries stopping him but he rips his arm from San's grasp.
"Wooyoung!" San whispers screams. Wooyoung wasn't giving himself time to think. All that was on his mind was protecting Jongho. Protecting his little brother at all cost.
So he ran out to Chiyo thoughtlessly. "I'm here! I'm here.." He says with raised hands.
Jongho's eyes nearly fell out of their sockets as he stared daggers at Wooyoung. Run.. run away you fucking idiot! He yells in his head after painfully popping his arm back into place.
Chiyo turns to him, a satisfied smile on her blood red lips at his appearance. "There you are" She raises her arms in triumph.
"Let them all go. I'll do what you want" He says calmly.
Chiyo smirks at him and a second later Seonghwa stops groaning, he's laying on his side with tears around his eyes and sweat on his forehead, slightly disoriented. While Jongho is slowly sitting up, his bones having mostly healed by now.
Just then 2 burly male vampires speeds to the scene, both equipped with straps of knives and daggers on their pants. "Cuff him up" Chiyo instructs one of the buff vampires with black inked tattoos all over his face and bald head.
The man retrieves titanium cuffs from his belt and makes his way towards Wooyoung. The objective was to kill the prince on sight but she knew that bringing him back alive for Jaejoong to kill him himself would give her extra brownie points.
Just as tattoo head reaches for his arm Wooyoung swings at the man's head but the man, expecting it, dodges and knees him in the gut. He expertly retrieves one of the knives strapped to the man's left thigh, turns and presses the tip to the side of his neck and just as he's about to stab him Chiyo's voice stops him.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" She calls out in a smug tone. Wooyoung looks up to see that she had San lifted in the air by the neck. Her hand tight around his throat as he gasped for air.
Wooyoung's eyes widen and all the blood left his face. His nose scrunches and his teeth grits as he presses the knife deeper in the man's neck. "Put. The knife. Down" Chiyo demands. "Or I'll rip his head off and make you watch"
Wooyoung's breathing was laboured as he thought of anything he could to get them all out of there. Shit! He mentally curses, his chest heaves in defeat and he frees the man and drops the knife to the ground. "Let him go"
"You're not in any position to make demands" She tsks, her grip still tight around San's neck. Wooyoung hisses, fangs bared, as the tatted man cuffs his arms behind his back.
"I knew you were behind that tree all along. Just wanted to see how far I could push you when it came to protecting the ones you love" She admits. "And you.." Her head turns to San who just looks at her, his eyes narrowed with pain. His appearance having shifted to his vampiric one. Teeth gritted and fangs clearly visible. "You're that drow right? The one Wooyoung was running around with for a while some years ago" Her smile grows wider. "My, what a predicament. You're a vampire now"
"I said let him go" Wooyoung says through clenched teeth. The tatted man holding him steady.
Chiyo turns to the second soldier. This one had a long goatee with short cropped black hair. "Extract his blood" She instructs.
Wooyoung's eyes widen and he fights against tatted man's grip. "T-that's not part of the compromise!" He yells in anger. He knew as much as the next person that if a witch got a hand on even a drop of your blood your fate was basically in their hands.
"I never agreed to any compromise" She giggles.
He fights in his captors hold and even with tatted man holding him it was hard for goatee to sink the syringe in him and draw some blood.
Chiyo knew all he needed was a little incentive so she rams her hand into San's chest, clutching his pulsing heart in her right hand. San gasps in shock, eyes widened and a hand flies to wrap around her wrist.
"San!" Wooyoung cries out, eyes wet and heart racing. "Ok! Ok! Stop! Stop, y-you can take my blood" He pleads. "Please just.. just let him go"
Goatee jabs the syringe into Wooyoung's neck and he winces but he doesn't fight anymore. The man draws out a good bit of blood and once he was done he turns to Chiyo and nods, confirming he was finished.
Then everything seemed to move in slow motion.

[Wooyoung]
You know how in theatre plays when the good character gets his head taken off, and the audience is left in shock. Their eyes blown open, jaws dropped, hearts shattering as we all wait for something to happen where the character comes back.. but nothing happens? Too shocked to move. Too scared to say anything. But then the play ends and you're reminded that none of that was actually real.
Except in this case, everything is real. Down to my heart crumbling slowly... and painfully.
Chiyo pulls her hand back, ripping San's heart out of his chest. His eyes wide and everyone watches with disbelief as his body moves in slow motion, hitting the ground with a thud.
