3. now what
⌗Yunho⌗
If only I had listened. If only I'd just stayed here. Better yet if I'd been responsible like Sehyoon and talked them out of that reckless mission..
San would still be alive.
Jaejoong would've never found out about my existence.
I would've never met him. I would've never had my heart broken as badly as he hurt me.
It's all my fault. Everything that's happened is because of me. And fuck, I don't know what I'm supposed to do to fix it.
Something tells me this is the one thing I can't fix.
Yunho bites down on his lip hard as he crumbles to the ground in front of San's tombstone. Since they were never actually able to recover his body their village still made a physical memorial site for anyone who wanted to come pay their respects.
The fresh flowers of every color placed all over stood out against the cold grey color of the headstone.
Yunho winces when a sharp pain from his side snaps against his ribs like a rubber band due to his rough movements but he doesn't pay any mind to it. His gaze stayed fixed on the carving of his best friends name written in drowic.
It'd been a week since he woke up and 2 days since Mingi left him. Since he attempted to end it all. Key word attempted. He had stabbed himself in stomach but apparently it wasn't deep enough to hit any vital organs and Sehyoon had found him before he bled out in his tent.
Now he's all bandaged up and his older brother has someone watching him every hour of everyday. He couldn't even go to the bathroom without one of Sehyoon's many watch-men keeping an eye on him.
He turns his head to the side slightly when he sense the movement of his current watch man shuffling on the spot a bit and stepping on a twig in the process.
He groans in annoyance. "Can you just give me 1 minute alone with my best friend?" He says in drowic. He didn't mean to sound so exasperated but he couldn't help it.
"No can do" He says, popping the last syllable of his sentence like they were taking a stroll through the park and not currently in a cemetery.
Yunho turns fully to him brow arched as he takes in his appearance for the first time that morning. His pale skin matching his hair almost exactly. A bit of visible flushing in his cheeks and pursed pink lips lifted ever so slightly in a grin. The way the sun peeked through the high trees and hits his glass skin in all the right places made him look quite otherworldly. But Yunho wasn't in the mood to gawk over how handsome anyone was. Especially not now.
"I'm sorry what exactly about all this is funny to you?" Yunho was appalled.
The drow couldn't help but grin wider. "Nothing"
Yunho stands up to his full height and stomps towards the drow, or shuffle more like because his wound decided that was the right time to remind him of it's presence.
He stood a good inch or two over the amused stranger. "What's your name?" Yunho asks with venom in his voice.
"Leedo" The shorter says, his grin faltering only slightly.
"Right. Since you decided to disrespect me, San and many other deceased in a sacred area I'll be reporting you, Leedo" Yunho says in a matter-of-fact tone then walks right by him.
"Woww, all I did was smile" Leedo says humorously, not moving from his spot, his hands now buried in the pocket of his militant core uniform pants.
Yunho snaps his head back at him. Now he was really getting livid. "What?"
Leedo now fully turns to him. "I just smiled there's no need to be so upset" He says with a shrug.
"'There's no need to be so upset'? Do you have any idea what I've been through just this past month alone? Do you have half an idea of wh-"
"No, I don't. Not really anyways" Leedo cuts him off, an honest look on his face. "But the reason you're such a push over is because you're too weak. I mean you tried to kill yourself just because things got a little hard"
Yunho's eyes widen. He was in shock and wasn't even sure what to say. He contemplated throwing a hard punch under the drow's jaw just to prove how 'weak' he is. But he was sure the shorter would only catch his fist and make another smart comment. Plus, the last thing he wanted to start a fight in front of San's memorial.
In the end he takes a deep "Things weren't a "little" hard. I almost died. Sehyoon almost died. My best friend did die. I'm currently first place on Jaejoong's hit list. I'm pretty sure my soulmate ran off and doesn't want anything to do with me.." He says bluntly. Yunho noted that something in the shorter's eyes shifted slightly but he quickly concluded that he'd been imagining it.
A small silence settles and before Leedo had a chance to respond Yunho scoffs at him as if to say "that's what I thought" before he turns to walk away. This time for real. He wasn't about to stand there and take shit from one of his brother's lackeys.
Leedo doesn't respond, his coy expression falls into a blank slate as he watches the back of Yunho's retreating form.
"So what do you suppose we do with him? Leave him to run amock, unstable and dangerous?" Yunho stops abruptly just as he was about to push back the heavy antelope skin drapes hanging over the entrance to their towns conference room. Or tent to be more exact.
His brow raises at the person who spoked and their aggressive tone. "Well we're sure as hell not gonna use him" He hears Sehyoon's voice growl back and his brows furrows. What's going on in there? He wondered. Are they talking about... me?
He'd been on his way to find his brother, probably report Leedo's antagonistic behavior while he was at it, only to overhear they were talking about him. He brings his ears closer, careful not to lean too forward and ruffle the drapes.
"Watch your tone young man. You will address an elder with respect" An old scratchy voice perks up. One of the members of the council, Yunho thought.
"With all due respect, boy-" The first voice, which Yunho now knew belonged to an elder, spits back with a condescending tone. "-Your opinion on this matter holds absolutely no weight"
"I'm his older brother" Sehyoon was quick to respond in that firm voice Yunho was all too familiar with.
"Not a very good one apparently, because of him and your incompetence in keeping a leash on him Jaejoong's armys could be marching to our doors as we speak" The elder says matter-of-factly.
"Enough" Another voice cuts through, female this time. "We're not here to point fingers at each other like children" Yunho recognized her voice. Hoyeon, she's the head of security and oversees everything that dealt with the general safety of the town.
A brief silence.
"I think it's only fair we include the person who also happens to be the main topic in the conversation seeing as he's not a child either.. wouldn't you agree, Yunho?" She angles her head towards the entrance where she knew the tall male stood.
Yunho flinches and bumps the drapes making them ruffle. He curses under his breath and slowly pushes the cloth aside and peeks his head in first, a nervous smile on his lips.
Everyone in the room looks back at him with a stoic expression, everyone but Hoyeon. She returns the nervous look with an encouraging side smile. Her silvery white hair pulled up in a tight bun and lips stained a bright red. Her gaze flutters back to the rest of the room.
"Any objections?" She asks coyly as she pulls back and sits at the large oak table, making herself comfortable.
Sehyoon looks like he wants to say something but decides against it. The troublesome elder on the other hand had no problem speaking his mind. "You can't be serious, Hoyeon. He's too immature and incapable not to talk of dangerous. What we need is to contain him-"
"And how exactly does that make you any different from Jaejoong?" She cuts him off, head cocked to the side. "He's a person, not a weapon"
"He's a risk to not only Lloth but the world as we know it. He can't fall into Jaejoong's hands again"
"He's right here" Yunho says with a grit in his voice, waving his hand up and down his body once as if to say 'look at me'. "And I don't really appreciate being treated like I don't have a say over my own life" He eyes the elder.
This outburst causes the corner of Sehyoon's lips to lift into a pleased smirk briefly before quickly disappearing.
"You're right" Hoyeon responds quicker than the quick tongued elder. "Now if everyone could please take a seat so we can have a discussion in a more civilized manner. That would be appreciated" She gestures at the brothers who still stood, Sehyoon with his hands behind his back behaving in the assertive manner the militant core leader had been trained. And Yunho with his hand awkwardly at his sides.
He swallows the lump in his throat and forced his legs to move towards the table. Sehyoon follows his lead and goes to sit across from him.
Yunho looks at the older male, waiting for him to look back. When he finally does he notices the burning fire in his eyes. A fire that said "I won't let anyone do anything to you". And it swiftly put his mind at ease. At least for now...
