15. i want to live

Jongho slips on some black light weight clothing, something with a hood he could cover up with, as well as some boots. He slides his window close, the night breeze fanning in and fluttering his dark hair a little.

He'd been waiting for night fall to move out because it'd be harder to be noticed and now he was ready to leave. He pulls the 'map' out of his pocket and looks at it once more. Whoever left the message for him clearly used a special ink that only became visible once the sunlight hits it.

He bit down on his lip and folds it back and slips it in his pocket before heading for his door. He realize he could be walking into a trap of some sort but he had to know. If Wooyoung really was alive... he just had to know.

Just as he gets to the door and pulls it back Hongjoong was stood there with the back of his hand pulled up as though he was just about to knock. Jongho stands back with a surprised look. "H-hongjoong?"

Hongjoong eyes him once taking in his appearance. "Are you going somewhere?"

Jongho shrugs. "I'm going on a walk. Why are you here?" He didn't mean for his voice to come out so harsh but it did. He didn't regret it though. Wooyoung was his brother too and Hongjoong was all he had left and instead of them to and be there for each other Hongjoong locked himself off from the world and mostly ignored his existence. Even when Jongho would show up at his door, wanting to be with his brother he'd get shut down. He knew he was just mourning and still is but it made things harder for him too.

So to see him at his door so suddenly, it was an obvious surprise. "I just.. wanted to check on you. See how you're doing" He replies, a genuine tone in his voice.

Jongho wasn't sure what else to say besides, "I'm fine"

Hongjoong nods awkwardly when he notices the younger vampire obviously wasn't going to say anything else. "That's good. I'll leave you then. G'night" He says with a tight lipped smile before turning to leave.

"Night" Jongho responds with his own awkward smile. He sighs once Hongjoong turns a corner. When did things get so weird between us? I hate it. I hate all of this. It hurt so much. The brother he used to laugh with while snuggled up in bed together and played card games. The brother he often teased and made jokes with. The brother he confided all his secrets in. Where did he go? Now he can't even look him in the eyes without feeling.. weird.

He closes his door behind him and made his way down the hall and towards the stairs. He didn't want to admit it but he was beginning to slowly lose trust in Hongjoong. Reason being he trusts Jaejoong and did everything he said without a second thought. And Jongho didn't trust Jaejoong. His obvious disliking for his own father was becoming so obvious even other people were starting notice and rumors were spreading. But he didn't care.

Jongho has no respect for him and thinks he's a sick cruel person. And the way Hongjoong worshipped him made him just as untrustworthy. So that's why he didn't bother mentioning the letter to him.

He walked past some guards and servants who greeted him and he tries to act natural, smiling in greeting as he usually would. He gets to the bottom of the stairs and turns a sharp corner a little too quickly because he runs into someone.

"Oh god. I a-apologize prince Jongho" Junkyu was quick to step back and give a deep bow, body practically at a 90 degree angle.

Jongho quickly shakes his head and takes his by the shoulder, making him stand up straight. "That was my bad, I should've looked where I was going" He brushes his messy dark hair back.

Junkyu slowly takes in his appearance. "Are you going out? Do you want me to request an escort?" He was already turning to run off, eager to prove himself useful to the young vampire.

Jongho immediately grab his arm. "No" He says a little too loudly causing the merman to flinch in surprise. Jongho clears his throat and gives an apologetic smile, "I mean it's fine. I'll be ok by myself"

Junkyu nods in understanding, clasping his hands behind his back and shifting his gaze to the floor. "Alright"

Jongho then takes in a deep breath. "I'll get going now" He points at the long empty hallway behind him and Junkyu immediately nods and bows once again.

"Of course. Sorry for holding you up"

Jongho was already making his way down the pathway. "You don't need to apologize" He says with a laugh. "You have a good night!"

"You too!" Junkyu quickly responds a cheerful smile on his face.

⌗Wooyoung⌗

(*Song he's singing is Paramour by Sub Urban)

"In our house.. the quiet is so loud...
I'll never hear a single... word you wanna shout.. Oh God, you're just a child... Oh he can be a little too invasive..."

"And I just want to live.."

Wooyoung's *sings hopelessly, his hoarse voice echoes in the quiet of the room as he sings monotonously while throwing pebbles at his coffin which still held his cold and lifeless body.

He pulls himself to his feet and walks closer to the stone table with the wooden and glass box. There he layed, in the same position everyday for the past 4 or so years. Hands placed over each other on his stomach, dark hair not having grown an inch, skin pale and lifeless, lips not displaying any signs of color just a very dusty greyish-pink.

Perhaps the thing that annoyed him the most was the dagger that stuck out of his chest. All he needed to do when take it out and he'd be free from this nightmare but he couldn't.. do anything. It was right there and it frustrated him so much.

He slams on the glass encasing out of anger but the results were the same as the hundreds of other times he'd done it. Nothing. It didn't even hurt him nor leave a crack. Because ultimately, he physically wasn't there. He physically wasn't actually banging the glass casing.

He stumbles back and falls on his butt, bringing his knees up to his chest and buries his face between them. He couldn't take any longer of this hell.

Just then his mom walks through the wall and comes to sit beside him. She looks at his hunched frame and doesn't say anything but simple leans her head on his shoulder. They sit in quiet for a while. After spending 4 years with the same person in a secluded cave like building in the middle of fuck knows where, you're bound to run out of things to say to each other. But knowing his mom was right beside him made this living hell a lot easier.

He brings his head up a tired sigh escaping his lips. "Did you see any travellers pass by?" He asks glancing at her. She shakes her head. They had decided to take turns being on look out for anyone that happened to stumble upon the building. But it had been over 9 months since someone had walked by and they didn't even pay mind to the building, just walked right past it even as Wooyoung and Yojin screamed at the top of their lungs and waved from the door since they couldn't leave the house due to the spell. It was no use. The man couldn't hear or see them.

"No. It was getting dark so I called it a day. Where ever we are must be hidden on most maps" She says dryly.

Wooyoung felt his chest tighten. Were they really gonna spend eternity in there? Just wandering souls confined to one place. Not quite dead but not alive either. Unable to leave or do anything about it. And put there by someone whom they once considered family. He felt fresh tears sting his eyes for the nth time. "What are we gonna do?" He asks shakily and Yojin immediately takes his hand, giving it comforting squeeze. One that Wooyoung couldn't even feel.

"We'll be ok. We just need to keep trying" She says reassuringly and maybe it worked in calming him down the last several hundred times he nearly had a break down, now it was starting to annoy him.

"You always say that!" He blurts, anger slowly replacing his sadness. ""It'll be ok" "We shouldn't give up" "We'll get out of here soon" When?! When is soon?! It won't be ok. We're stuck here for who fuck knows how long. I bet he's even forgot he has us in here. Fuck!" He bursts into tears slapping his hands over his face as his breaths came out shaky.

He has no idea how she managed to do this for 75 years. All by herself. The fact that Jaejoong could and probably would leave them there for another 75 and then some made him feel lightheaded.

Yojin stays quiet, letting him cry because he was right. No matter how optimistic she wanted to be she had a feeling they weren't going to be getting out of there for a long time. And after spending so long here by herself she no longer had anymore tears to shed.

Wooyoung calms down after a while, head now on his mother's lap as she played with his hair. "I'm sorry I lashed out like that" He says with a sniffle.

"It's ok. I know you feel hopeless and truth be told I gave up hope ever leaving this place a long time ago, but at least we have each other. That's what's most important" She gently caresses his cheek even if she knew he couldn't feel her motherly touch or warmth.

They stay quiet for a few minutes, the silence so deep you could hear a pin drop from across the building. That's when sounds of someone walking up the small set of stairs towards the front door echoes around room and Wooyoung immediately sits up in alarm and looks at his mother who also had a look of surprise on her face.

Wooyoung was the first to scramble to his feet and run through the walls towards the front door where he froze because on the other side peeking into dark dimly candle lit building was Jongho.
