◀ Chapt. 9⚫A Proposition▶
Jayquan's POV
The movie had gone better than I expected but the way they ended it was kinda crappy. Raine had enjoyed it too judging from the way she had been ignoring a nigga the whole time the movie was going on.
We were in my car on our way to drop her off when I got a text from Donovan saying that the boss needed to see me real quick. I was contemplating whether u should drop Raine off first then go see the boss or vice versa.
I looked beside me at the beauty that was slowly dozing off and decided that I should just go see the boss and get that over with. Raine could stay in the car and sleep, then I could take her home.
"Hey, Raine. Baybeh wake up."
"Huh...am I home yet?"
"Na baybeh, I gotta little bid ness to take care of before I take ya home. Do you mind?"
"It won't take long?"
"I'on think so."
"Okay then."
I made a detour to my bosses house. I knew there was a slight risk to taking Raine to my boss's house but I just had to get this done.
I pulled up in my bosses driveway and turned to look at Raine, she was fast asleep. I placed a kiss on her forehead and hopped out of the car. I made sure all the doors were locked before I headed inside the three story house.
"Jayquan, my man, how you been?" The boss's office was huge. As I stepped on to the room's mahogany wood floors I couldn't help but admire the place, something I did every time I was here. I stepped in front of the boss's desk and took his outstretched hand in mine.
"I'm doin' great Marco."
"Ahh, that's good."
"So you wanted to speak to me sir?" A weary look came over the boss's face as I spoke. He let out a sigh and rubbed his hand across his face.
"You know I think of you like a son, don't you Jayquan?"
"Yes sir." He nodded at me.
"Well you see, I'm not getting any younger and ever since Jermaine died I... I–" a sad look crossed his face and couldn't help but share his pain.
"You don't have to speak about him sir, I know how painful it is to talk about him."
Jermaine was Marco's, the boss's, son and was also my best friend. He died a year ago in a shoot out. Him and Marco had gotten into an argument and he had stormed out of the house, he went to the nearby supermarket to cool off but minutes after he got there gang members from all over started shooting up the whole place. He got caught in the crossfire and died on the spot. Thirteen times. That's how many times they shot him. And ever since that night the boss hadn't stopped blaming himself.
"Well I have to talk about it sometime. As I said before I'm not getting any younger and with no heir I need to pass the business to somebody. Someone I trust."
"Oh I see, you want to ask fa my opinion? You should have said so before boss."
"No Jayquan." My brows furrowed in confusion.
"Whatchu talking 'bout?"
"I'm talking about you Jayquan, I want you to be my successor. There's no one in this world that I would trust to handle my business more than you."
I stared at him with my mouth open in shock.
"Close your mouth before you catch flies boy." I shut my mouth instantly.
"You want me to take over the business?" I asked incredulously.
"Yes. I taught you everything I know and that makes you the best candidate."
"That's...this is..." I didn't know what to say.
"You don't have to say yes right away just think about it. Okay?"
I gave him a stiff nod and turned to leave, my thoughts swirling like a tornado in my head.
"And Jayquan," I turned to look at Marco over my shoulder. "Don't keep me waiting too long."
With that I left the room and quickly walked out of the house. My head was in such a muddle that I forgot I left Raine in the car by herself.
I opened the car door quickly and jumped in only to find Raine looking at me with sleep still in her eyes.
"Hey," she placed a hand on my arm. "You okay?"
"I'm okay." I gave her a stiff smile.
"You sure?" She asked again and I just nodded not bothering to speak.
I started the car and pulled out of the driveway.
"Let's get you home." Through the whole drive back to Raine's house she hadn't once taken her hand off my arm and I was glad for that because I could feel the comfort coming off of her and it just helped to ease my mind a little.
When I pulled up in her driveway she was wide awake. I hopped out the car and opened her door. She stepped out and I walked her to the door with my hands digging deep in my front pockets.
"I had a really great time Jayquan, thank you."
"No prob, I had a great time too." We reached her door and I stopped, staring at her. She got her key out and slowly opened the door.
"So I'll text you tonight, okay?" She made a move to go inside but I grabbed her hand stopping her.
"You forgetting something?" She scrunched her brows in confusion.
"Nope." I straight faced her.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." She gave me a big smile and wrapped her short arms around my neck, tiptoeing.
She pulled my head slowly down to hers and planted a firm kiss on my lips that left them tingling.
"Goodnight." She started pulling away but I grabbed her closer to me leaving no space between us.
I kissed her hard this time, nibbling and biting on her lips. She moaned and this caused me to deepen the kiss. I rubbed my tongue across the opening of her mouth asking for permission and she willingly gave it to me. I dove in to the sweet cavern of her mouth, a plethora of tastes bursting on my tongue. She was pure ecstasy and I sure as hell didn't want to pull away but I knew I had to or I would do something we both weren't ready for.
Listening as small whimpers of pleasure tried to leave her lips as mine drowned them out, I slid my hand up under her shirt and latched on to one of her breasts, squeezing it through her bra. She arched her back into me begging for more but I pulled away before things got any further.
Grunts of protests left her lips but I held my ground. I pecked her one last time on the lips and gave her a good slap on the ass which made her squeal in surprise.
"Goodnight." I smirked down at her seeing the look of wanting in her eyes. "Now go on inside."
Looking a little dazed she turned around to go inside but almost hit her head on the door, I couldn't help but laugh. She glared at me but there was no mistaking the blush coating her cheeks.
"Goodnight Jayquan."
Still smiling I made my way back to the car. I waited for the light in her room to turn on before I pulled out of the driveway, heading home. It had been a great night and I needed to go home and nurse the current tightness I was feeling in my pants.
Shifting in my seat trying to ease my discomfort the smile still never left my face.
