Chapter 15: Details
~Lucy's POV~
"Levy!" I yelled loudly as I caught up with her. I held my dress down as I extended my legs. Her face lit up as she turned around.
"Lucy! Do you want to eat lunch in the library?" She gestured towards the large wooden doors in front of her. She was holding a tray filled with cafeteria food in the other hand. Levy was a vegetarian, so she ended up buying a salad loaded with fruits and nuts.
"Sure!" I said through a smile. I ran towards the door, opening it for the short bluenette. She curtsied to show her thanks which made me giggle. The library was completely silent. A few people were scattered around the room, but it was mostly empty.
We were surprised to Juvia sitting in our regular spot. She usually went out to lunch with Gray, but today she was joining us.
"Do you guys mind if I join you?" She asked timidly as she saw us approaching. Her blue hair fell off one side of her shoulder as she smiled at us.
"Not at all," I said with a smile. I actually wanted to talk to Juvia about something, so maybe she can answer my questions.
We took a seat behind the exclusive librarians desk that we both had access to. I flattened my dress as I took a seat. I plopped my packed lunchbox on top of the desk. I insisted on making Natsu and I lunches for the day.
I had just slapped together a simple turkey sandwich, but it had a special twist. I incorporated a hot sauce that has been passed down through our families name. Only the Heartfilia's knew how to make it, no one else is supposed to know. I then included a freshly picked apple from the farmer's market.
"How was your weekend?" Levy suddenly asked as she dove into her salad. This weekend was certainly like no other. It may just have been the best weekend of my life. The crunch of Levy's lettuce brought me back to my senses.
"It was great," Juvia said as tint of pink appeared on her cheeks. What had happened the previous weekend?
"Why are you blushing Juvia?" I said while poking one of her cheeks. "Does it have to do something with Gray?" I continued to tease her as her face turned a deep shade of red. She covered her cheeks with her hand, trying to hide the embarrassment that had resulted.
"W-we may have gone on a date." She diverted her eyes away from us and looked at the ground. Levy and I immediately grabbed each other and squealed loudly. The few people that were in the library snapped their heads in our direction.
Juvia's eyes widened as she tried to hush our cries of joy. She put her finger to her lips as to silence us. She couldn't help but let out a laugh due to our childish behavior.
"Details!" Levy and I demanded simultaneously. Sometimes I swear we are conjoined mentally. I felt a little guilty at the fact that we were forcing Juvia to talk when I had a big secret of my own.
"Well," Juvia started as she began playing with the hem of her shirt. "We went out to the bowling alley downtown and played a few games. We had pizza, played arcade games, you know the usual." She smiled to herself. She was probably replaying the night in her mind like it was a movie.
Levy and I sighed, falling onto each other.
"That is so cute," Levy said quickly.
"When is he going to ask you out?" I asked, eager to know the love life of one of my best friends.
Juvia lightly slapped her hands down on her lap.
"I don't know, it was just a first date. I'm hoping soon, but who knows." She smiled again, looking at the floor with a sparkle in her eye.
"Did you guys kiss?" I asked as I leaned my elbows on the table. I placed my head in my hands as I leaned closer to Juvia. I slightly nudged her side with one of my elbows. She looked shocked to hear that question, but instantly blushed.
"Y-yeah?" She asked it as a question, hesitant to see our reaction. Levy and I instantly started squealing again. We received yet another glare from the people trying to study.
"Is he a good kisser? How long was the kiss? Anything else happen?" Levy's mouth just wouldn't stop running with an unlimited amount of questions. She smirked and raised her eyebrows while asking the final question. It was the brightest color of red I had ever seen. Juvia's face lit up so fast, it could've been Christmas!
"I would say he is a good kisser, yes." She said as she patted down her face with her hands. I thought maybe she had refused to answer the others, but she kept moving along. "I'd say the kiss lasted at least a few minutes."
"What?! So this has now turned into a make out session?" Levy exclaimed as her eyes widened.
"I guess you could call it that." She smiled as she took a bite of the macaroni she had brought. "And before you freak out, no nothing else happened. I'm not even his girlfriend yet, and I don't want things to move too fast." Levy sighed with joy.
"Young love, I love it." She took another bite of her salad, smiling from ear to ear.
"I completely understand, take your time Juvia." I said as I placed my hand over hers. I showed her a smile as I took a bite of my sandwich.
"I heard you were quite the busy bee Lucy," Juvia said as she whipped out her phone.
"What do you mean?" I questioned, tilting my head to the side slightly.
"I know you went out on a date with Natsu," Juvia said as a devious smiles crept onto her face.
"WHAT," Levy screamed. The sound echoed against every wall of the library, it even bounced back to us. Levy instantly covered her mouth out of shame, but continued to freak out.
"H-how did you hear about that?" I asked nervously. I really shouldn't be nervous, but I cared what my friends thought.
"Gray and Natsu are best friends, I know everything." Juvia smirked, signaling that she really did know everything. She wiggled her eyebrows in the process.
"Yea," I said as I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "I've been staying at his house since the incident." I expected she knew what I meant. Her face then went soft, showing a genuine smile.
"That's great, I'm so happy for you." I played with the end of my pink dress nervously, smiling from ear to ear. "You know, Natsu used to be really dangerous. He was always getting suspended for doing something stupid. He once got expelled for a little while after he broke up with Lisanna."
"Really?" My eyes widened in dismay. I knew Natsu was a bad boy, but I never expected him to get into this much trouble. He was so nice to me, never showing me that bad boy nature.
"I heard from Gray that he was having a lot of family issues, and his breakup with Lisanna didn't help." I shook my head and looked at the ground. My heart physically hurt for Natsu. He's been through so much that I don't even know about.
Even if I was close to Natsu, I wasn't. I wanted him to open up to me about his past. I know it will probably be painful for him, but I would like to know. I can't keep asking questions and expecting an answer. I want him to provide me with the information.
"You're so good for him Lucy, you have no idea." Juvia said as she placed a hand on my shoulder. I showed her a small smile, relieved that I had some effect on his happiness.
"So this date?" Levy suddenly said, lighting the mood significantly. She slightly nudged me, making me perk up.
"We went out to this adorable little restaurant called The Lucky Duckling, then we went and saw a movie. We then went back to our apartment complex. He took my on the roof, and we just stared at the city and the stars. We talked for what felt like an eternity. We talked till the sun rose, lying in each others arms. " I didn't even realize when I had started to cry. A single tear slid down my cheek.
"Awh Lucy, you really like him don't you?" Juvia said as she patted my back. I quickly wiped the tear from my cheek, embarrassed with my emotions. I nodded my head as I played with my hands. A blush crept onto my face as I replayed that night.
"I'm so jealous!" Levy said as she threw her head down onto the table. Juvia stared at her with wide eyes. "You guys are falling in love, something that teenagers typically do, and I'm just here with my cat." #RELATABLE
"I'm sure you'll find someone Lev, just give it time!" I gave her a small hug as she laid her head down on the table.
"I guess you're right," she said as she showed a smile.
"I mean, you're definitely cute enough!" Juvia said as she poked Levy's cheek. Levy laughed and threw her head back.
"Thanks guys," she said showing a cheeky smile. We sat and talked for the rest of lunch, not bothering to keep track of the time.
