"What in God name are you doing?"
I stared wide eyes with my mouth parted open at the sight of my best friend quickly shoving a worryingly amount of condoms into her brown Prada handbag.
She had blueberry flavoured ones, cherry flavoured ones and leaving the best to last glow in the dark ones.
Why anyone would want a glowing penis baffled me.
The only thing I could associate it with is a lightsaber and the thought made me want to chuckle as I imagined a guy running around waving his penis like a helicopter, shouting 'Let the force be in you,'
Rose tilts her head in my direction, a blush forming on her pale complexion. She froze with her bag gripped tightly in her grasp. She resembled a deer trapped in headlights.
I subconsciously shifted my gaze to her lower region wondering how the hell she was going to cope with that much sex. Surely excess amounts of it are detrimental to your health.
Isn't there a disease called a blue waffl-
Actually let's forget about that.
"Are you making a condom stand? What are you doing?" I exclaimed.
"Just taking precautions," The words rushed out of her mouth as she swiftly closed her bag and flickered her eyes around the empty room.
We were alone, even though my evil side wished that she'd been caught. I would have loved to see her stuttering a response as to why she was stealing condoms.
Actually, why was she doing this?
"For what?" My wide eyes stared at her face as I tried to figure out her reasonings.
If I knew this was the reason why she wanted to pay a visit to the nurse's office I would have declined the offer and dragged her away to drown her in holy water.
I really needed to save her soul.
"In case anything happens at the party," She muttered casting her eyes to her feet.
"What happens?"
I knew what she was going to say, I knew. I just hoped she was going to shock me, tell me that she wasn't thinking about doing that with him.
She sucked in a deep breath and slowly exhaled, "In case I have sex with Brody."
I felt my mouth drop to the floor as nausea hit my stomach. I knew she was planning on having sex, that part was pretty obvious but what I didn't realise was that she was hoarding condoms for the King of man whores.
Did she want to catch every STI known to man?
This was her virginity she was planning on throwing away like a used napkin. It wasn't his to take. I didn't want this for her. I wanted her to be romanced and be with someone she loved. The way I wished I'd had lost it.
"Brody?" I gasped unable to comprehend her words. I wanted her to laugh and tell me that this was one massive joke but by the look on her face, she was deadly serious.
"He's super hot," She mumbled sheepishly, and I shook my head in disappointment.
You couldn't like or get involved with Brody. You just couldn't. You'd only get yourself hurt. It was like a suicide mission. The boy couldn't care less for the opposite sex. He wanted to be screwed, and that was it. I'd seen countless girls crying in the bathroom stalls because of him or posting heartbreak quotes on their Instagram.
He was unattainable.
I peeked up at her pale complexion, the sadness overwhelming me at how naive she was. I never thought I'd say this but Rose Gibbins was another one of Brody's victims.
And I couldn't do anything to stop it.
The closest Rose had gotten to a guy was her old neighbour Zac. It was a few summers ago that they made out in his shed and there was some over the fabric groping. She said his hands were rough, and he kept squeezing her chest like it was a stress ball. I can only imagine that is awkward. She couldn't be serious about losing her virginity at a high school party.
"Rose," I put my hands on her shoulders, "You do realise there's a queue of girls waiting for Brody?"
She snorted, "I can handle them, have you seen me?"
I almost rolled my eyes at her confidence.
I let out a sigh. This was a battle I was never going to win, "Look just be careful okay? You know this will end badly just remember Alex,"
Alex Lutton was a girl a few years younger than us. One summer break she had gotten involved with Brody and apparently they'd spent weeks together at his house. When the break was over and everyone was back to school she'd told people they were together to only find him making out with a cheerleader on the football field.
It was heartbreaking. She changed classes, so she didn't have to see him and now spends most of her time in the library.
The mention of Alex Rose paused, "I heard he never told her they were official and she just assumed,"
I tutted and dropped my hands to my sides, "That's not the point Rose, he screwed her over without even a care in the world,"
"He won't even get a chance to do that to me because I'll just screw him and walk away," I almost laughed at her attempt to convince herself otherwise. She'd fall for his trap, even the strongest did.
"I can see you are planning on doing a lot of screwing," I noted pointing towards her bag.
Her cheeks flushed and she gripped it tighter, "You can never be too careful,"
I rolled my eyes, "Of course,"
The door to the nurse's office swung open. We both sank backwards, and I nearly fell onto the patient bed. I looked through the hair that had fallen into my face to find Craig hovering in the doorway, his eyes flickering between both Rose and I. They lingered a little longer on Rose.
"Sorry, I should have knocked," He said awkwardly, rubbing at the back of his head.
"It's okay, we have finished anyways," Rose faked a smile, giving me a look that said let's get out of here quick.
We began to walk towards the door but, Craig had other plans.
"You guys coming to my party?" I tried to ignore the fact he wasn't looking at me at all and had his whole body faced towards Rose.
"Maybe," She shrugged, her eyelashes doing that fluttering thing I hated so much.
"You should, I have never actually seen you there before, I think you'd really enjoy it,"
"How can I not come then?" Rose said, her false smile spreading across her cheeks.
"Okay amazing, well I hope I see you there," He was like a kid locked in Disneyland, I'd never seen someone look at other people like that before. I knew Rose felt awkward because she shifted her feet and looked over his shoulder at me.
This was my queue to step in.
"Oh god, look at the time," I feigned panic, "We are going to be late for that thing we need to do,"
"Shit," Rose put a hand to a cheek, "That thing,"
Craig's brows scrunched together as he watched us both in confusion, "The thing?"
"Yes," I nodded, "It was lovely speaking with you but we gotta go now," I grabbed Rose's hand and we ran down the corridor without looking back to see if he was watching. Once we had rounded the corner, we both burst out into laughter. I had to hold onto the wall to steady myself and Rose slid against it onto the floor.
Poor Craig.
•*•*•
"He's looking," Rose squealed glancing over my shoulder at what I assumed was Brody's fat head.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and bit into my celery stick smothered in hummus. The loud crunch it made in my mouth caused a few people to look in my direction. I shrugged my shoulders and carried on eating trying to avoid breaking my teeth.
Remind me to never let my Mom make my lunch. The woman was trying to starve me to death I'm sure. I once learnt that you lost more calories from the process of eating celery rather than the celery itself. If that was the case, I might as well eat celery for the rest of my life.
"He looks so perfect," Rose drooled leaning on her elbows, her blues eyes glistening as she watched Brody.
I didn't bother turning around. I'd seen enough of his face today, I didn't need to see more of it. I didn't want to ruin my lunch.
Unlike most of the female population, I found him to be a pain in my arse. If I found myself faced with the choice of either kissing him or killing him I'd choose the latter option.
No lie.
Watching the saliva dripping down her chin, I playfully threw my tissue at her head "Wipe your mouth woman,"
She snapped her head in my direction flashing me a dirty look, but what had caused me to laugh was the fact she did indeed wipe her mouth dry.
When she was done she crumpled the tissue up in her hand and placed it on her empty plate. Her eyes caught sight of something behind me, and I watched as her breathing sped up and her mouth gaped open.
I bit into another chunk of my celery and raised a brow at the sight of Rose suddenly hyperventilating in her seat.
What now?
"Hey, ladies," An annoyingly familiar husky voice beamed from beside me and I glared up at the arrogant bad boy attempting to crush him with my line of sight.
If only I had Carrie powers.
"How are you on this fine day today?" He asked, focusing his attention on my face rather than the girl in front of me, who in fact looked as if she had just peed herself.
How was she ever going to sleep with him if she didn't know how to control herself around him?
My best friend had turned into a walking, talking dribbling mess. I'd probably blink, and she'd turn into a puddle.
"I'm fine," I mumbled, I took another bite and made sure I was extra loud when crunching in the hope he'd disappear back to his table.
If he was Zac Efron, then it would a whole different story I tell you that. But to my dismay, he wasn't.
"Great to hear." If sarcasm was a sport, I'd win the gold. I let out a groan when he sat down beside me and tried to ignore the brush of our legs touching. I wondered why the hell I felt a warm sensation wash through me and blamed the fact it was a hot day today
Or I put it down to his hot bod-
Temperature. His hot temperature.
He placed his hands on the table and grinned widely at both of us. I raised a brow not trusting this boy as far as I could throw him.
He was up to something.
His lips curled up into a smirk and he looked over at Rose, "You look nice today,"
Her cheeks flushed red and she looked down at the table, "Thank you, so do you,"
He was trying to get into your pants, Rose. Run. Runaway screaming.
I felt his eyes move to the side of my face and down my profile, "Shame I can't say the same to you Ivy,"
I snapped my head in his direction. I felt my eyes narrow at him, a thousand ways of killing him entering my head.
I wondered if my celery could do any damage?
Besides the denim playsuit, I wore today slayed.
"Because I'm so obsessed with your opinion, "I said sarcastically which caused him to chuckle under his breath.
I couldn't notice how deep his laugh was. It was surprisingly sexy and I hated myself for admitting that.
"Why not? Isn't everyone?"He cocked a brow.
I snorted, "You're so full of bull. You know that?"
"Well that was rude," He faked a hurt expression, which I almost fell for if he hadn't laughed afterwards.
"Get over it, you pea head,"
"Pea head?"
"Yep, your head is shaped like a pea, and don't take it as a compliment, I'm saying your body isn't in proportion,"
"Bitch,"
"Prick,"
"You are something, Ivy." He muttered, sounding as if he was saying it to himself rather than to me.
I'll be something when I chop your balls off when you touch my best friend.
I glanced at Rose, who had been watching us like we were an aggressive tennis match. She coughed to clear her throat, "I saw your game last week, you did really well,"
Bullshit.
We watched re-runs of friends last week and ordered a takeout. She knew for a fact I'd never step foot on the pitch, I hated sports and so did she.
I was going to call her out when she spoke before I could, it was tactful I'll give her that.
"Thank you, we trained really hard for that one. Our opponent was a difficult team to beat,"
"Good hard work pays," Rose said taking a large sip of her drink.
"It was mostly Craig. His control was crazy in that game,"
They'd lost me at the game.
"Do you guys have to work out all the time to keep fit?"
What was with these questions?
"Yes, we do," Brody didn't seem to mind as he placed his arms on the table and a tiny bit of his sleeve rose to show off his impressive biceps. Rose couldn't seem to take her eyes off them, I, however, had other plans.
"You've got nothing to show for it," I said under my breath, and I felt him shoot daggers into the side of my face.
"Well, you need to go to the gy-"
"I would love it if you could give me some tips one day," Rose interrupted him on purpose. I felt my eyes widen. She hated exercising, the only place she'd run to was the fridge and I once tried to make her do cardio and she nearly fought me.
If this was her attempt of making common grounds, she was basing it on lies.
He relaxed and focused all his attention on her, "Yeah sure if you'd like, I have free membership at the club, I could get you a pass,"
Oh, how romantic.
"I'd really like that," She said attempting to lower her voice so it sounded sexy, it came out sounding like Darth Vader.
He gave her a weird look and then asked, "So Craig said you are both coming to the party?"
"Yes, we are," She said before I could protest and I begrudgingly sank further into my chair.
If only he knew about the condoms weighing down her handbag.
"Don't forget to pre-drink, half the stuff you find at Craig's has even been spiked or people have put out their cigarettes in them," He said, and I was surprised that he was giving us advice. It was probably more towards Rose since I bet he'd love me to drink a contaminated drink.
"Spiked?" Rose eyes widened.
"Yep most likely with E," He said sharing her shock.
Rose looked confused so I stepped in, "E is ecstasy Rose,"
"That's crazy," She shook her head.
I shrugged, "People are crazy,"
"I look forward to seeing you there though," He winked in her direction and I snorted.
He turned his attention to me, amusement covering his expression "Problem Jones?"
"Of course not arse wipe," I spat biting into my celery. We sat in silence for a while, and I felt nervous as his stare travelled down to my lips. I instantly brought a hand up to my upper lip wiping away any leftover hummus residue.
I didn't need to give him another reason to taunt me.
I would not be known as a hummus girl.
He continued to stare at my lips for what felt like forever. An unknown emotion clouding his whiskey coloured eyes.
Oh no did I have a moustache?
I raised a brow and when he took in my expression, awkwardly he cleared his throat slowly getting out of his seat.
"See you tonight" He nodded in Rose's direction and I heard her let out the breath she had been holding. He turned on his heels purposely not looking in my direction as he strolled back to his table.
I frowned at his retreating figure wondering what the hell was his problem.
