*Ri-Na POV*

Beep beep, beep beep, beep be-

I slammed my hand down hard on the old alarm clock, hoping everyday would be it's last.

I opened my eyes and looked at the clean, bright, white ceiling. That was the best sleep I had had in years. I almost wished I didn't have to wake up. I wanted to stay in this clean, comfortable, spacious bed forever and just sleep my miserable life away.

"Ri-naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa." I turned in the bed and saw Kyung-hee sitting cross-legged on her bed across from me, balancing a book on her head.

"Whut." I closed my eyes and snuggled back into my pillow, leaving it to her to keep me awake.

"So, I was looking at the uniforms dad got us yesterday from our new school and...he didn't buy any blazers."

My eyes instantly shot open and I sat up angrily. "He WHAT!?"

She looked at me with wide eyes and I softened my face. "Sorry I didn't mean to yell I just-"

"No I was looking at your hand, the swelling's nearly gone. It almost looks normal again." She pointed to my hand and I saw it was in fact much better.

All thanks to that Jung Hoseok.

"You're right. Anyway, why are you awake so early?" I stood up then turned around and started making my bed.

"How do you expect me to sleep in when we're going to a new school today!?" I turned back around to see her smiling and grabbing her ponytails in excitement. "Maybe I'll make new friends. Maybe you'll make new friends. Maybe those friends will be guys....cute g--"

"You can stop right there young lady. I have no interest in men or friends or social interactions. We're only going there to finish high school so we can get away from d..." I slapped my hand over my mouth and she tilted her head with a strange look.

"M...maybe we'll make friends....just make sure you'll be ready to leave soon." I quickly turned and left the room to avoid any questions.

It's okay...just stay calm.

I walked straight to dad's office and knocked on the door rapidly. There was no answer so I opened it and looked in. He was at his desk reading something on his phone. He looked angry but I couldn't leave so I spoke up.

"Is it true that you didn't get us blazers? Have you not felt how could it is here? You want us to freeze?" I took a few steps in and closed the door behind me as he put his phone down angrily.

"Have you not seen how expensive those damn blazers are!? It's not my fault these stupid schools have a dress code so you can't bring your own jacket. Just run to the school, that will warm you up." He rolled his eyes and I kept walking in, feeling my fists form in anger.

"And Kyung-hee too? You want her to run in the cold!?!" I reached his desk and slammed my hand down on it.

"Don't give me that, I do my part by giving you food and supplying a roof over your heads. You want me to warm you up too!?" He leant forward in his chair and reached for a cup that was on his desk.

"Here, get warm!!" He stood up and splashed the hot coffee from the cup all over me making me jump back and hit a small table with a scream.

I had just covered my face in time to save it but I felt the hot, sticky beverage soaking through my hair as I groaned from the pain of the table hitting my back.

"Now, is there anything else?" He put the cup back on the desk and sat down in his chair, picking up his phone and looking at it.

I stood there shocked and still trying to comprehend the situation when the door opened and Kyung-hee looked through with a worried face.

"I heard a scream...what happened?" She asked looking back and forth between me and dad.

"Nothing happened! I...I spilled dad's coffee accidentally...my mistake, I'll get a new one." I walked forward and grabbed the empty cup then quickly left the room with Kyung-hee following me.

"Ri-na....your hair is all ruined and we have to go soon...." I turned to Kyung-hee and saw her uniform was already partly on.

Shit. This is just what I fucking need on the first day of school. No blazers and a mess of coffee-soaked hair.

"It's okay, just go and put an extra shirt on underneath your school shirt while I shower and we'll leave in a few minutes." I pet her head briefly then ran to the shower with my towel.

Surprisingly there was actually shampoo in the bathroom for once so I quickly shampooed and washed my hair thoroughly. I got out and dried myself as quick as I could and then ran to the bedroom in my towel and got changed.

The uniforms were horrible. Short skirts, thin shirts and without the blazer I looked like some sort of snobby, rich girl walking around in barely anything.

"Eonniiiii-ahhhh. Leggo." Kyung-hee popped her head in the bedroom and smiled widely.

My spirits were instantly raised. That smile, literally that smile is the only thing I need in this world. If I can see that on her everyday I'll be happy.

"Yep let's go." I outstretched my hand to her which she happily took. I had no bag, no phone, no makeup, but, I had Kyung-hee which was all I needed.

We left the house and although it was freezing outside, the area was beautiful so we did our best to ignore the cold. As we walked down the sidewalk we looked around at the beautiful houses and cars. People here were really well-off.

The trees were bare but they fit the surroundings so well. This place had a magical feel to it.

"Oh my God, is that our school!?" Kyung-hee tugged on my hand and I looked forward only to have my mouth drop.

It was huge. A massive brick building at least four stories high, a big courtyard and as I kept looking there was a slope a little bit from the building leading to a river. A deep, wide river with a full tree...in the middle? What the f....how is it even alive??

"I wanna see the inside!" Kyung-hee started pulling me towards it and I followed reluctantly. I was cold anyway and my wet hair was freezing my neck so it wouldn't be that bad to go inside.

It looked like there were a lot of students enrolled here since the facilities were so big...

I kept looking around as we walked towards the entrances and my eyes caught two girls spray painting some words on the wall.

Kim Mi-Rae was a slut.

I got a strange feeling in my stomach when I read that. Why would they publicly write that on the front of their school? And what do they mean by 'was'?

As a matter of fact everything seemed off, there were only a few students walking into the school next to us. I expected a lot more at this hour.

"Stay close to me always, Kyung-hee." I looked down at her and she turned to me with confused face.

"If you want me to then I will." Her face turned happy again and I breathed out in relief. She really didn't have a corrupt cell in her body. She was an angel.

We walked up the wide, entrance steps into the enormous building. There was a small office to the left of us with open doors.

"Excuse me." I knocked on it and a lady literally popped out from behind her desk, a massive stack of papers in her hands and her hair a mess.

"Oh! The new girls!! I'm so silly I forgot about you..." She put the papers down and then her face turned into a fearful expression as her eyes widened at us.

I grabbed Kyung-hee tighter at the lady's strange behaviour.

"I..I mean I didn't forget about you....you know...as humans!!! I m..meant I forgot about your arrival! Oh I'm so sorry about this!! Here are your schedules." She grabbed two pieces of paper and held it out to me with a bow.

She was dressed really well with a professional hairstyle and expensive clothes but her behavior did NOT match her appearance.

Me and Kyung-hee stood there completely stunned at her behavior. She was treating us so differently, as if she's the student and we're the teachers or something.

"Thank you..." I grabbed the papers and bowed to her.

I looked them over briefly and saw I was enrolled into the dance elective. "There must be a mistake...I don't dance." I held the paper up to show her.

"W..well, seeing as you're joining in the middle of the year...we could only give you electives that had space in them... it was either dance or advanced chemistry and I just assumed that since you're a girl....I'm so sorry it's my fault." She started to actually tear up and Kyung-hee walked forward and started to pat the back of the young woman comfortingly.

"There, there. You'll be okay..." I stood speechless at the way Kyung-hee interacted with this strange lady.

I was about to speak up when a loud bang sound pulled my attention towards the door.

"Hey wet girl, why are you talking to the vermin?"

I turned around and my breath caught in my throat. The human in front of me....was someone so handsome they were only ever seen in dreams.

I immediately noticed that he wasn't wearing a uniform....but why did he drop off a massive pile of books in the middle of the walkway? And did he just say......vermin?

"What did you just call me? And what did you just call that woman!?!?" I tilted my head to the side, one, cause I was angry and two, cause I wanted to look at his body without making it obvious....

....wait what?

He stuck his tongue out to wet his lips and the lazy smile he had on played games with my head.

"I asked.....wet girl, why are you wasting your pretty little voice on the adult scum when I could take you to the bathrooms and make you use it for a much better reason?"
