*Ri-na POV*

We got up at 5 am and had been driving for hours. Kyung-hee and I only packed one bag as we had sold most of our other things. It was strangely nice to leave our old rundown house. The only problem was leaving mum's grave. There's no way we could ever afford a transfer…I'll definitely go back for her one day.

I sat in the front passenger seat looking back at Kyung-hee every few minutes. She was fast asleep and covered with my jacket because wherever we were going was cold. Much colder than our last place.

Dad didn't say anything the whole trip. He just stared at the road angrily, ignoring me.

I looked down to my bruised knuckles, one of them hurt like hell and I was honestly worried it might be broken. My window was open because Dad reeked heavily of alcohol so the cold air was numbing my hand thankfully.

After what seemed like ages we entered an okay looking town and drove down a main street. There were lots of fancy stores and beautiful houses with people walking around in long expensive coats.

“We're here.” The car came to a stop on a small street close to the centre of town and my eyes widened when I saw the nice house in front of me.

How did he ever afford such a nice house?

I turned to him as he was getting out and my eyes caught a glimpse of a wallet in his pocket. A wallet that didn't belong to him.

He stole money? But how did he even get the house wouldn't they check his records or something?

He turned and gave me a glare making me immediately unbuckle my seat belt and turn to Kyung-hee.

“Kyung-hee…we arrived.” I massaged her arm gently as she opened her eyes and yawned. Her eyes also went wide when she saw the house.

“That's our new home?” She took off her seatbelt and leant forward in the seat, her hair was a mess from her nap.

I smiled back to her and nodded my head while fixing her hair. She immediately opened the door and jumped out the car, running to the new house.

I'm not gonna lie, I was actually excited for the first time in my life. Maybe things will get better, maybe it won't be such a hell anymore.

I grabbed our bag and got out the car into the freezing air. It really was so much colder here, I wasn't used to this weather.

Kyung-hee was already in the house and I followed, looking at the place in awe. it was like one of those nice houses you see in movies.

“Unpack your shit, you have to get dinner ready soon.” Dad walked by not even looking at me as he spoke.

Try to stay positive. It's not much longer.

I put on one of my fake smiles and walked into the room. There were two single beds which was such a relief. Before when we shared a bed  I had always gone on the floor after Kyung-hee fell asleep cause my nightmares caused me to move and I didn't want to hurt or wake her.

“Look, we each get a bed! Now you won't be cramped up anymore.” Her face shined as she beamed to me happily.

“We’re very lucky. I'm gonna go make dinner. Do you think you could unpack our things?” I asked and she smiled back and nodded.

“Thank you.” I blew her a kiss and walked out to the spacious, new kitchen. There was actually food in the cupboards and fridge. More food than we've had in a while.

I rolled up my sleeves and started preparing the meal. I got lost in time and it must've been atleast an hour already cause I saw it getting darker. The meal was nearly done when I heard a small gasp come from the bedroom. I immediately dropped what I was doing and ran there.

“Kyung-hee!?” I burst through the doorway and breathed out in relief when I saw she was sitting on the bed safely.

She held up a pair of pants with a worried expression and I saw there was a red stain on them. “Kyung-hee,  you got your period?!” I smiled even more in relief. She was seventeen years old and hadn't gotten it yet. It worried me sick but now things are better.

“Y…yeah…I don't know what to do…” She looked at me sadly and I rushed forward and hugged her.

“Don't be sad! This is wonderful, it means one day you'll be able to have children which is a good thing. The pain sucks but I'll help you through it.” I embraced her tightly and she relaxed in my arms.

“We'll need to go to the store, I have barely any pads left.” I sighed and dreaded the thought of asking my dad for money.

“Okay, I'll come with you…” She stood up but I grabbed her and stopped her from going.

“You just get ready, I'll get the money from dad and then we can go okay?” I stood up and raised my eyebrows to  her.

“Okay…” She nodded her head and turned to get some new clothes.

I left the room quickly and went to find dads room. I knocked on the door and heard him groan in annoyance. “Come in…” His tone sounded angry and I felt even worse doing this.

Slowly opening the door I walked in and stood in front of his desk where he was sorting through some papers and bills.

“Um..dad, I need some money.” I looked down to avoid eye contact and heard him exhale loudly.

“For what?” I heard him throw his pen down and another sigh left his mouth.

“Uh…well, feminine hygiene products…me and Kyung-hee need them..” I hated asking him for money and especially for something like this.

I lifted my head when I heard him getting out his chair. He massaged his jaw slowly while walking around to his jacket.

“You women are so troublesome. Always needing something. Why couldn't Mia give me sons?” He grabbed his wallet from his jacket and pulled out some money.

I breathed in heavily and closed my fists. I hated when he talked about her. He never treated her well…she was an angel to him and yet…he was the reason she died.

“Well, that's women for you, never giving anything useful to this world. Only taking and taking.” He passed me a very small amount of money and I immediately took it and left.

Maybe there could be an accident. With the new house and all I'm sure there could be a gas leak or something. Anything to kill him and get him out of our lives for good.

“Ri-na….it's getting dark let's go…” Kyung-hee appeared in front of me dressed up in two big jackets. I smiled at the sight. She looked so big yet she was actually tiny.

“Yep. Let's hurry.” She grabbed my hand and we left the house. It was a little dark but we could still see and it wasn't that hard to find a pharmacy.

As we walked in I counted the money and started looking for the isle we needed.

“Ri-na…what’s this? You didn't have this before…” Kyung-hee lifted up my hand, showing my black and blue knuckles.

“Uh I….I hurt it today…” She completely stopped and stared at me with a serious face.

“We took a break for fuel while driving here and I accidentally slammed the door on my hand. You were sleeping but it's fine. It doesn't hurt.” I knew I wasn't that good at lying but the way her face softened meant I wasn't terrible.

“We should buy something for it.” She started walking away looking through the shelves and I quickly went after her.

“We don't have enough money.” I grabbed her arm and shook my head. Her face saddened as she kept looking at the bruises.

“Are you sure? I'm sure we can find something.” She started looking again but I grabbed her face and made her look at me.

“It’s fine, let's just get what we came here for. We need to take care of you first.” I grabbed her hand again even though my own hand was burning and pulled her to the next isle.

It was a really nice store. Very clean and spacious with good lighting. Even though I was unaware of just where exactly we had moved, I knew this was a high-end town.

Soon we got what we needed and had just the right amount of money to pay for it. As we walked up to the counter I saw there was a young man there buying stuff. He had brown-reddish hair and he looked nice. From the back.

I spotted the cashier handing him a nice amount of change back. The redhead put his hands up and shook his head.

“You keep it.” His voice was so soft and my eyes widened when I realize how much money he gave away. That could buy a whole meal….

Must be nice to have that much money to throw around.

We waited for him to gather his shopping and when he turned around his eyes caught mine and he smiled to me. Woah. He was really gorgeous and the way he dressed….he looked like a prince.

He bowed his head slightly to us then left with his stuff. I watched him leave thinking how nice it must be to be rich. You don't have to take shit from anyone.

Kyung-hee nudged me with her arm and I saw the clerk was waiting for us patiently. I quickly rushed up and put the personal items on the counter. I wasn't embarrassed because it was a male clerk, it's just a part of life, I didn't design my body like this.

He scanned the items and I paid what he asked for. I was about to leave when he cleared his throat and spoke up.

“Sorry I almost forgot. The sir that was just here bought this for you.” The clerk grabbed a jar of heat cream and held it out to me. I saw the big words ‘Heals bruises and sprains’ and I felt like crying.

He must've heard us talking and bought it. He actually bought it for me.

I took it and thanked the clerk. Kyung-hee beamed happily and started pulling me out the store. “Come on we gotta find that fire boy.”

I laughed at her name for him and followed eagerly. When we exited the store it was much darker but I saw him opening the door to a car a little down the road.

I walked to him and called. “Hey….redhead!” I mentally slapped myself because I knew I sounded disrespectful.  I wasn't used to talking to people, especially ones that showed me kindness. Which was never until now.

He looked up and had that innocent smile on his face again.

“Thank you for the cream.” I bowed to him deeply and Kyung-hee did too.

“You're welcome.” He lent against his car which looked extremely expensive and motioned to my hand. “Put your hand in cold water first then massage the cream into your skin deeply. It will bring the blood rushing back and you'll heal very quickly.”

He looked at Kyung-hee and winked, making her giggle from it.

“Thank you very much.” I bowed again then took another step towards him. “Could you tell me your name?”

His smile turned a little more mischievous when I asked this and he licked his lips.

“My name is Hoseok. Jung Hoseok."
