Chapter 8: Devil Lunatic

Writhing bodies were strewn about on the pavement floor. Some coughed out blood on the already stained rubble and some of them were blessed in the unconscious realm. The only one left standing was the leader of the group, terrorizer of underdogs and now pissing her pants off, Yeji.

Yeji could only gape as Dami plowed through her gang. She was ruthless, an engine set on performing her task without stopping. Case in point, by serving all their asses without leaving any one uninjured until they were unable to get back up. A few paces behind Dami, Heejin watched with wide eyes as Dami took one student after another. Even then, she could not form any words if one were to ask her what happened.

"S-she beat, all twenty of them... by herself?"

"I guess she did, Heejin," Namjoon mused, chuckling at the girl's awed expression.

Heejin looked upon the girl who had befriended her, who not just a few hours ago, was a friendly and bubbly girl, whom decided to be her friend on her first day. Now, the girl turned a complete 180. Her whole form stood taller and her shoulders squared, even her face changed. The smile on her face held no warmth, except menace towards the school bully.

"Is this...Dami's real personality, Namjoon?" she asked him.

"We'll explain it to you later," he replied.

In front of them, Dami wiped the blood that came from her lips as her dark gaze fell upon Yeji.

"This is fun~" she smirked.

Yeji still could not comprehend that Dami single-handedly knocked down all twenty members of her gang with her bare hands. "You... how dare you beat all my members?!" she screeched.

"Well, you're lucky because... I believe in second chances, so I let them live- for now." Dami turned and walked away.

Yeji gritted her teeth. This wasn't supposed to happen at all. She was supposed to teach that bitch a lesson and shove her annoying face where it belonged. Her ego deflated yet again, she decided to go at her herself. Grabbing a metal pole, she ran towards Dami.

Namjoon saw her coming and as he was about to take out his gun, he saw Dami signalling him not to.

"Die you fucking bitch!" Yeji shouted and aimed the pole at Dami's head. Quickly Dami side stepped, narrowly missing the oncoming deadly hit to the head. Bracing and pulling back, an uppercut was delivered as the receiver flew off her feet and landed, back first.

Blood spat out of her mouth like some poor imitation of a sprinkler, the impact harsh as was the reality she just faced. Only too late, Yeji thought. There was no way she would be let go easily when she had the chance to flee. Then, Dami walked towards her and Yeji gulped as she thought that she was going to finish her off. Surprisingly however, Dami sat down right beside her.

She lifted Yeji's chin and checked the damage done by her blow. "Painful?"

"D-don't touch me, you monster!" she avoided Dami's hand and turned her face away.

"You're such a pussy, you know that. Bringing your lackeys for back up. Well, at least they got back up after getting kicked down and continue fighting until they passed out. You however, K.O. with just an uppercut." She smirked pityingly at her and got up as she swept her skirt from dirt.

"Well, it was fun. Tell me if you want another fight but next time, please be fair and square, okay?" she showed the okay signal and put on her innocent facade back on and walked away from Yeji who stayed frozen on the ground.

"Oh, almost forgot." Dami turned back and looked down her nose at Yeji. "If you ever come near Heejin again..."

Dami's eyes narrowed and her lips curled. "You're gonna be my next 'Dead' target."

She walked back to Namjoon and Heejin as she found Heejin hurling behind a lamp post as Namjoon patted her back.

"Heejin, are you okay?" Dami asked worriedly. Heejin shakily threw her thumbs up, telling Dami that she was just fine. After she was done, she turned back and glanced at Dami who was sporting a rather deep cut on her lip.

"Dami, your lips... " Heejin pointed where the small wound was still wet with blood.

"Don't worry. It doesn't hurt." replied Dami and grinned despite it causing the wound to stretch wider.

"Seriously, doesn't hurt at all?" asked Namjoon and Dami shook her head.

"I'm fine really, let's go." And they walked away leaving Yeji and her gang behind them.

15 minutes later, the trio stopped in front of an old dumpster place.

"This... is my house," said Heejin, slowly turning to face them. Apprehension colouring her face as she dreaded their reaction. She knew her home wasn't what a typical home should look like, but still, appearance and all that still matters.

"You live in the junk place?" asked Dami, her brows creased.

"Yeah, with my grandma." Heejin pushed the gate and walked inside as Namjoon and Dami followed. Both of them took a look around the dumpster. Mountains of old furniture, outdated and broken electronics that couldn't be used anymore were thrown haphazardly around the supposed 'garden'. They stopped short as they looked at the 'house' in front of them.

In front of them stood a battered shipping container covered in ivy and grime. They still had to blink a few times, and sudden sympathy rushed forth as they realized how hard Heejin must be living.

Their interaction went unnoticed at the back as Heejin went forward and knocked on the metal door. "Grandma, I'm home..."

Just then, someone opened the door and they saw an old figure heftily handling it.

"Heejin, what time is it right now? Where have you been?" Heejin's grandma asked the girl worriedly but she stopped short as she saw two teenagers behind her grandaughter. The sight was a surprise, given Heejin rarely ever brought any of her friends over.

"Who are they? Are they your friends?" her grandma as she pointed at Dami and Namjoon.

"They're... my classmates. They got transferred at school today. This is Namjoon and Dami." Heejin introduced them to her grandma.

"Hi," Namjoon greeted her.

"Nice to meet you, Heejin's grandma," Dami gave a light wave at her.

"Nice to meet you too. Heejin have never brought any of her friends before. Well, we don't want to because... look around. Our place isn't really accommodating for any guests to come by," Heejin's grandma said bashfully.

"It's okay, grandma. We also live around this area. So, that's why we decided to send Heejin back home first," said Dami, smiling.

"Besides, this area is full of bad people and Heejin wouldn't be safe if she walked alone," added Namjoon.

"That's very nice of you. Thank you." Their conversation was cut short as Heejin rushed inside her house, and her grandma saw her covering her mouth as she bolted to the bathroom. Then they heard weird noises coming from the bathroom.

"Heejin, are you alright?" asked her grandma. Her already wrinkled forehead deepened in worry.

"I-I'm fine, grandma. I'm not feeling so well," she replied from inside.

"Was she always like this, grandma?" asked Namjoon towards the elderly woman.

"No. Actually she got sick three days ago. I thought considering we don't have enough food on the table, the lack of food was the problem. Even then, we only manage to eat one meal a day on few occasions. That's why she's doing part time jobs to get money but what she received is still too little. I am very sad that I can't support her education nor providing for a better future for her," the grandma looked worriedly towards where Heejin was inside.

"Grandma, if I may ask, where are her parents?" asked Dami.

"They passed away when Heejin was still little. She barely remembered anything about her parents."

Just then, Heejin came out of the bathroom and walked meekly back to the front door.

"Are you okay, Heejin? You look really pale, dear," her grandma worried over Heejin.

"I-I'm fine," replied Heejin.

"You can take a day off for tonight, Heejin. Don't push yourself too hard."

"It's okay, grandma."

"Your grandma is right. Don't push yourself," Dami nodded along.

"No, it's okay, I'm fine. By the way, I think you guys can go now and thank you for sending me back home," Heejin thanked them, but still refused to meet any eye contact.

"No... problem. Let's go, Dami," Namjoon spoke up, breaking the ice that seemed to form around them.

"Goodbye Heejin and Heejin's grandma." Dami waved at them and they walked out of the gates before shutting it close.

They remained silent for a while each seemingly deep in thought on the occurrence that just happened. A couple of streets of hearing each other's footsteps later, Dami finally spoke up. "Now what?"

Namjoon sighed. "Go home and watch TV shows."

"Are you fucking serious right now, oppa?"

"One, we still haven't found the target so if you don't have anything better to do, why don't you follow her tonight." Just then, a black Mercedes Benz stopped in front of them and the car window slid down revealing Jackson behind the wheel. The duo got inside and Jackson drove away.

"So, how's your first day at school, Dami?" asked Jackson.

"I took down 20 students when we were sending Heejin home," Dami stated as she lounged on the backseat.

Jackson's eyes bulged as he eyed the girl from the rear-view mirror. He tried to get his sudden panic attack to calm. This was an immediate sign for trouble as the last time he heard Dami fighting, the victims were sent to the ICU and some of them didn't make it. "Did you kill them?!"

"Nah, she just wiped their asses out when they tried to attack her," Namjoon said beside him.

Jackson felt relief and deflated in his seat. "Fuh~ If you kill them, we probably might get into trouble."

"But we didn't find our target at school today," said Dami again.

"You guys will see him tomorrow for P.E." said Jackson.

"What is P.E.?" Dami asked curiously, lifting up her head to look at him clearly.

"Physical Education. This subject is where you can play any kind of sports and games on the field outside or an indoor one."

"But, I don't know anything about sports," she pouted.

"Then, you will get your first experience on that tomorrow." Jackson smiled and drove them back to their home.

Night.

Namjoon walked out of the bathroom after a much needed shower. After a long full day back to school, he remembered why he hated it so much. The over abundance of perfume and cologne roaming the halls didn't have the approval of his sensitive nose, thank you very much.

"Dami! Your turn!" Namjoon shouted to call for Dami but no response came. He proceeded to her room and when he opened the door, Dami wasn't inside as he expected her to be.

"Damn, where the hell is she..." muttered Namjoon and walked to the living room. Then, he saw a small note under the remote control on the coffee table. He took the note and read it.

***

"I'm watching Heejin at her workplace."

-Idiot sister-

***

"Damn it. Does she even know where it is?" he muttered again and then, he realized there's another written note behind the paper.

***

"I know where she works. Yuju told me."

***

"That idiot... "

---------------

Dami stepped out of the taxi after the driver stopped in front of an unfamiliar restaurant. She stood alone on the street and glanced at the restaurant logo as the taxi sped off into the night. Taking out a photo from her pocket, she looked at a picture of the restaurant that Yuju had given her including the address of the place.

"This is the place, huh?" Dami matched the restaurant building and the one in the picture; it's match.

"Heejin must be inside," she mumbled. She wore a black mask and sunglasses and she hid her purple hair with her cap so Heejin didn't suspect that her new classmate was stalking her. Her hand reached behind her head and lifted her hood on and walked into the restaurant.

It was like any normal family restaurant, not too fancy and there were a lot of customers so it was easy for her to hide among crowded place. She sat on the bar are that seated guests with stools, and looked around the restaurant. A waitress came along with a menu to place it in front of Dami. Just as she placed the laminated paper down, Dami turned around as she suddenly realized as she recognized the waitress.

"Hi. May I take your order?" Heejin spoke politely at the guest in front of her. Meanwhile, Dami quickly looked down and remain silent as she looked at the items on the menu.

'Shit, what am I going to do?' she thought to herself. She berated herself, not thinking this through. Of course, one would be served by a waiter or waitress when walking in a restaurant. What made it unlucky on her part was that Heejin decided to notice her presence and not the other waiters and waitresses running around the area. Curse her damn luck!

"Excuse me, what do you want to eat for dinner tonight?" Heejin asked again. Then, she saw the customer pointing on the items on the menu.

"Kimchi fried rice? Okay." She wrote down the order on the note. "What would you like to drink?"

Dami pointed the drinks that she wants and Heejin looked at the item that the customer showed her.

"Plain water." She wrote it down. "Any side dish you want to add?" Heejin asked the customer again but Dami shook the head, desperate to rid of her presence before she recognize her.

"Alright." Heejin walked away with the menu as soon she got the order and Dami felt relieved that Heejin didn't suspect a thing.

10 minutes later, her food arrived. Dami on barely touched the food as that wasn't the reason why she came here. Her reason was to watch Heejin's activity. Albeit discreetly. The other reason was that she already had dinner at home so she didn't feel the need to distract herself with food from her original mission.

Two long hours inside the restaurant, and it was near time to close the restaurant. All the customers had already left and Dami checked that she was the last customer to leave the restaurant. Heejin went to Dami's table and she saw the untouched food and drink but the customer left a little more money than what they ordered. She went to her boss who was busy counting money from the cashier machine.

"Ajusshi, the last customer left some extra money and didn't take the balance." Heejin gave the money to her boss.

"Just keep it," said her boss.

"Eh? Are you sure?"

"For your extra payment for today and also for your medicine."

"My...medicine?"

"You're been pale for a few days so I thought you aren't feeling well. Why did you come today if you're sick? You know you can take a day off."

"Haha. I'm not sick, ajusshi. I'm just stressed and tired on school so maybe that's why I look like I'm sick." Heejin laughed it off, as she lied.

"Just take that for your pocket money. You can go home now. I will close the restaurant for today."

"Thank you, ajusshi."

Heejin went to the locker room and changed her uniform to her casual clothes. After she was done, she walked out of the back room and proceeded to the dining area where her boss was still charting down the sales for today.

"Goodnight, ajusshi." Heejin bowed to her boss and walked out from the restaurant.

Since the restaurant was near to her house, she decided to walk back home. It was still risky as it was midnight and her grandmother had on numerous occasions, warned her of dangerous thugs wandering the streets at this time of night. Still, she gritted her teeth and trod along on the narrow streets. It was dark, it was night, and lamp posts here does its job very poorly. At least people would hear if she screamed bloody murder if she was in trouble. Breath braced, she stepped into the dark.

She tried to be brave as she walked along the streets. But fear immediately squashed them as she saw a few gangly men heading towards her as they walked from the opposite side.

Her mantra was on repeat, as she prayed that they only pass by as her feet took silent footsteps. Don't bother me. I'm invisible. Don't bother me. I'm invisible.

They were nearing her, and a few more seconds and she would be past them before they would meet no more. Just a few more steps.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two.

"Hey babe. Where you going?" Heejin cursed inwardly and decided to ignore them as she passed by the strangers. But then, her hand was grabbed and she looked behind in panic.

"Don't be so snooty, girl. What's your name?" asked the other.

"Please, let me go. I have to go home now." Heejin tried to let go of her hand but the man tightened his grip on her wrist.

"Come on, we just asked you nicely. Let's go have a drink together, shall we?" he smirked and pulled her. But suddenly, a metal pole whizzed by their heads, hitting one of his friends standing beside him right between his eyes. He was passed out cold.

They turned around and saw a short figure standing in the shadows. They had to look carefully as the person was decked in full black attire. What makes it seem more creepy was that they were standing alone.

"Who the fuck are you?!" one shouted. The unknown person strode towards them and grasped the man's hand who was gripping Heejin's.

"Sir, can you please let my friend go?" Surprisingly the feminine voice wasn't what they were expecting. Nor how young the lone ranger of the dark as she glared at the man.

"Dami?" Heejin gasped.

"Hi Heejin~" Dami replied and grinned at her.

"Shut the fuck up!" His punch flew towards Dami but his fist didn't make it to her face as her hand reached his fist first and stopped it from going further.

"Too slow," Dami smirked and an immediate uppercut was delivered to his face. He flew away from her blow and releasing his grip from Heejin's hand.

"You damn bitch!" The other two lunged and aimed their fists but as if prepared, Dami dodged and blocked the attacks and striked back with her kicks. She kicked one of the men's legs from behind making him kneel down and then she kicked a final blow to his head rendering him unconscious. Another person was knocked down leaving the lone perverted guy to settle.

He was ready as he pounced and put Dami in a headlock. Dami used her sharp elbow and jabbed it towards his kidney to make him release her head. Dami took in the immediate change and punched his face until he was unconscious from her blows.

Dami stared at all the unconscious men, wiping her hands satisfied with her work. She went to Heejin to check if she got hurt before Dami arrived to help her.

"Are you okay?" asked Dami and Heejin just nodded. But then, a metal pole impacted on Dami's head and Heejin screamed when the pole hit Dami. Her friend slumped down on the floor.

"Dami!" Heejin went to Dami and shook her body to wake her up. But then, a male figure appeared in front of them and it was the same man that Dami did an uppercut with.

"You're such an arrogant little bitch. Big mistake that you fight with gangsters." He spoke towards Dami's unmoving body.

"Now, die you bitch!" He swung the pole to hit her but Heejin stood in front of her, her arms splayed to her sides protecting Dami from getting hit.

"Move, girl!" the guy screamed but Heejin shook her head.

Impatient and anger rearing on his head, the guy pushed her harshly to the side making her fall down.

"I don't want to hurt you, girl. But I want you to watch this bitch die for messing with me and my members." He aimed towards her head and swung the pole down.

Just as suddenly, Dami's hand shot up around the pole blocking its path.

The guy and Heejin was shocked to see that Dami was still consciously able to block the pole. The man tried to pull the pole away from Dami's hand but she gripped the pole tightly and used it to stand back up. She wrenched the pole from him and threw it away.

"How can you still stand up easily?!" he asked incredulously. She took her cap off and lifted her hair up and the guy saw an old scar on her head.

"I just got the same hit a few days ago." She smirked and her eyes were ablaze, turning into the lunatic that attacked Nayeon. She pounced towards him, he didn't see it coming as she was moving fast. Dami punched his face and he flew away to the wall. He spat out the blood from his mouth and glared at Dami.

"You fucking bitch!" He jumped towards her and aimed his fist ready to blow her brains out. Dami slid her body away and avoided the attack from him.

"Come on, little kitty. Let's play," she teased him and smirked.

"Fuck you!" he took out a knife from his pocket and jabbed, a trickle of blood ran down Dami's cheek.

"Dami!" Heejin yelled as she saw the gash. Dami touched her cheek with her thumb, and stared at the blood that covered her fingertips and suddenly laughed.

"What the hell are you laughing about?!" the man spat out. Dami's laugh stopped as she looked at him again. She stared at him, her eyes glinting madly from the few lights around the streets.

"Bad kitty," Dami spoke and she slammed him down, choking him at the same time as they fell on the ground. She sat on his body and took the knife from his hand.

"Bad kitty need to be punished." She used the knife and stabbed his hand. Heejin's eyes widened as she saw they man in pain. He was groaning from the sudden wound and Dami covered his mouth with her other hand.

"Shh..." she shushed him, as if his behaviour was not appropriate. She took the knife from his wound and blood was rushed out from the hole.

"Begging for more?" she asked and the guy shook his head frantically.

"Want more? Okay." Dami stabbed his other hand and he cried out in pain.

"Stop it, Dami!" Heejin begged her to stop but Dami ignored her and pulled the knife out again.

"Let's do it on your face, hmm?" Dami sliced his cheek open with that knife slowly and the gangster cried out in pain while Dami laughed like she enjoyed the sound he was making.

Heejin didn't know what to do as she felt afraid of Dami who now, she couldn't believe was the same innocent, cute and bubbly girl that she saw this morning. This time however, her characters was totally opposite. What she was right now was a monster, a cold blooded person, like devil reincarnated.

"Well, now that you've already suffered a lot, so let me end your life in peace, okay?" Dami held the knife aimed towards his head. The tip of the knife almost touched the man's forehead before a voice called out to her, stopping her movements.

Heejin saw her other classmate coming along with another pair in tow, a man and and a woman.

"Namjoon..." said Heejin. The woman suddenly came towards her and helped her up.

"Are you okay?" she asked and Heejin nodded as both of them glanced towards Namjoon who was still holding Dami's hand and trying to stop her from killing the man below her.

"That's enough, Dami," said Namjoon.

"This guy was hurting Heejin, Namjoon oppa..." Dami stubbornly held on to the knife, wanting to end the guy's life.

"D-Dami, look. I'm fine. I'm not hurt." Heejin tried to calm Dami as she strode towards Dami.

"You're...not?" said Dami and Heejin nodded and smiled at her. Finally, Dami blinked a few times and as her grip loosened, Namjoon took the knife from her hand and threw it away. Dami suddenly fell unconscious but Namjoon was quick to grabb her and laid her on his chest.

"Is she alright?" Heejin asked them.

"She will be fine. Don't worry." Namjoon lifted her up and took her away.

"Settle it." Namjoon spoke to Jackson and Yuju and they nodded, as they knew what to do. Namjoon disappeared from Heejin's sight leaving the two people she did not know.

"Babe, send this girl back home. I will do this alone," said Jackson to his girlfriend.

"Make sure you don't come back late," said Yuju.

"Okay~" Jackson showed the okay sign and Yuju took Heejin away from the street.

"What is he gonna do with that gangster?" Heejin asked.

"Nothing personal," said Yuju giving no clear answer and Heejin remained silent. While both of the girls walked away, Jackson wore his gloves and mask on.

"What... are you gonna do to me..." the guy spoke.

"Just gonna clean this mess," said Jackson.

"Are you... going to kill me..."

"Nope," Then, Jackson came towards the guy and bent down.

"Killing people is not my job." He took out a syringe from his pocket.

I just want you to remember nothing of this day...
