Chapter 13: Lost Memories
The yakuza stayed frozen as they watched their boss practice with his Odachi sword in front of them. None of them dared to speak after they heard of the death of some of their members.
After a final blow to his opponent, one of the men came forward, taking the sword from him to keep it in its case. Meanwhile, the boss went up a few steps that sat his throne as his bodyguard gave him a small towel before he sat down. "So, does anyone know who this 'D' is?" the boss asked.
One of the yakuza stepped forward, bowing his head. "B-boss, w-we don't know. Even the police couldn't find any lead or identity about the 'D' assassins," he stuttered out.
"They got some balls, don't they?" The boss scoffed, wiping his brow.
But then, another yakuza spoke. "Boss, there's more. There's a yakuza clan that's been staying in the city."
"Are they strong?" the boss asked.
"We don't know, But..." he bit his lips hesitating to tell him.
"But?"
"The leader of the clan is... Nakamoto Yuta." The boss turned around at the name, placing a piercing gaze on him. "Lady Yoobin's loyal assistant." The member finished in a whisper.
"So he's back, huh?" He clenched his jaw, but not for long as a slow grin formed and exploded into a sadistic laughter as the rest looked at each other not finding what was funny.
"Oh well, It's just Yuta. Him and his fucking lost sick puppies." He stood up from his throne and went to the glass cabinet next to him, where a gold revolver was showcased inside with two-letter words engraved on its grip. 'Y' and 'B', short form for Yoobin.
"Because their leader is dead!" he shouted the last word, smirking at his lackeys. He went back to his throne and sat on it, closing his eyes as he did so.
Another member stepped forward, voicing his concern. "But boss, your sister's body is still not found. How can you be so sure about her death?". A snap with his fingers and the bodyguards nodded as they went down the steps. They went to the one asking the question grabbing him towards their boss.
With a push, they made him kneel down and one of the guards grabbed his head, smashing his head down hard on the wooden floor. The guy could only groan in pain as the bodyguard was relentless in his actions. The rest watching didn't move a muscle as their comrade was getting beat. None turned away as they knew the consequences would be much worse.
Another snap of his fingers again and the bodyguard stopped his action and let his head drop on the floor. But suddenly, a heavy foot stamped on his head as more blood dripped from his mouth.
"She's not my sister, you son of a bitch! She's not even part of my blood!" The boss yelled at him as his foot remained, pushing down on his head.
"Because of her, my father kicked me out of the family and gave his throne to that fucking bitch! She should've been dead before my father found her in the forest and brought her home!"
"P-please f-forgive me, boss." His words jumbled as he attempted to apologize with his movements restricted. The boss finally lifted his foot as the member on the floor picked himself up, albeit slowly.
"Now, I want you to find Yuta's hideout within three days. If not..." The boss trailed off, looking down his nose at him.
"I-I will do it, boss," the member stated, nodding fast in understanding.
"And so's everyone here, find this fucking 'D' and bring him to me!"
"Yes, boss!" cried the rest of the yakuza immediately leaving the hall.
___________
Yoobin... you must... bring back our empire...
and destroy... the enemies... hunting you down...
Dami's eyes snapped wide open as she had the same dream again. "Why do I always have this dream..." she mumbled as her eyes still looking at the ceiling. Her eyebrows creased, noting something weird.
"This is... not my room." She looked around and realized she was sleeping on the dining table. All of a sudden, Yuju's face popped out from nowhere making Dami jump on the table.
"Rise and Shine~" sang Yuju.
"No... not Kylie Jenner's morning wake up song again..." Dami cried out as she hated that song. "Why am I sleeping on the table, Yuju." She asked her friend as she tried to get up from the table. Yuju acted fast and was beside her in a second.
"Be careful, don't wanna get your stitches open," said Yuju. Dami glanced down at it, not realizing her wound until Yuju told her. She looked at her right arm which was wrapped with a bandage.
"How... did I get this?" she asked.
"You don't remember? You were saving me from the gangsters that chased us last night." Yuju told her of the incident but Dami barely remembered when she got shot by them.
"Dami, can I ask you something?" Dami replied with a hum.
"Do you remember anything when Namjoon oppa and I treated your wound last night?" Dami shook her head as she didn't remember at all.
"Perhaps last night was your 'devil' who we treated yesterday," Yuju mumbled as she remembered Dami groaning in pain at her wound.
"I don't even remember what happened yesterday.... and this too." Dami pointed to her body where she still hadn't worn a shirt. "Do you have to tear off my shirt when treating my wound?"
"Ah that's!- er... I-it's a long story but you don't have to worry about it." Yuju avoided her question.
"Enjoy while you still can," Dami muttered and stood up from the table.
"I don't want to!" Yuju exclaimed dramatically covering her eyes.
"By the way, where's Namjoon oppa?" Dami asked.
"He just went out a while ago." Dami pouted and walked away.
"Where're you going to?" Yuju asked.
"Making 'lemonade' in the toilet. Wanna join?"
"Haha no-no. Go ahead." Yuju shook her head, letting Dami do her business. While she was in the bathroom, Yuju switched on the television to see morning news reporting about the murder case that happened last night.
"--three people found dead last night. Police uncovered a 'D' scar on the victims' head which they matched to previous cases, deducing that they had been killed by an infamous serial killer D-"
Yuju quickly switched off the television when she saw Dami walking out from the bathroom. She threw the remote away in the far corner in her panic, as Dami saw the object sail across the room.
"What's up with you?" she asked. Yuju smiled innocently and turned around.
"Err... Nothing," she grinned. Dami raised her eyebrow and looked at her friend curiously. Before she started to ask questions, Yuju quickly cut her off. "Ah! Namjoon oppa told me to cook your breakfast today. So what do you want?"
"Hmm... Curry Ramen..." Dami spoke.
"With two eggs?" She nodded.
"On it." Yuju hurried to the kitchen and grabbed an instant noodle pack from the cabinet and 2 eggs from the fridge. While she was preparing Dami's breakfast, she kept thinking about the dead bodies of yakuza members that Dami killed last night.
"I thought Jackson oppa burned them already..."
Meanwhile...
As soon as Namjoon arrived in front of the building, he got out from his van and locked it. Then he glanced at the name of the restaurant.
"Red Sun Restaurant, huh? What an anime name," he muttered as he walked into the restaurant where a female server greeted him inside the entrance.
"Good day, Sir," the server greeted him.
"Hello. I want to see Nakamoto Yuta. Is he here?" Namjoon asked.
"Oh, Boss Yuta is here. He currently has a meeting with his client right now."
"Can you tell him that Kim Namjoon wants to see him? It's urgent."
"So you're Mister Kim Namjoon. Boss Yuta informed me to let you in anytime when you wanted to see him. This way, Sir." The server then led him to the elevator and proceeded up to level three, where the dining areas for VIPs were located. As soon as they arrived, she took Namjoon to Room 1 as she knocked on the door and slid it open.
"Boss Yuta, Mr Kim Namjoon is here," said the server.
"Bring him in," Yuta replied and the server let Namjoon in and Namjoon stopped for a moment as he saw Jackson sitting on one of the dining chairs.
"What's up?" greeted Jackson holding up a peace sign.
"What are you doing here?" Namjoon asked.
"Same reason as yours. Just a meeting with this guy." His friend pointed at Yuta.
The server spoke up behind them. "Boss Yuta, do you want anything else before I leave?"
"It's okay. You may go." The server nodded and slid the door close.
"So, how is she, Mister Kim Namjoon?" Yuta opened the conversation.
"She's fine, for now," Namjoon replied curtly, taking a seat.
"It was her 'devil' mode that killed the Yamaguchi, wasn't it?" Yuta directly spoke up about the killings.
"H-how did you know about her--"
"He followed us," Jackson spoke.
Namjoon sighed and nodded. "Do... you know about it?" he asked Yuta but he shook his head.
"No. I've never seen her become like that before... Does it come out often?" Yuta asked worriedly.
"Not really. She started being aggressive when she was hit hard on the head. She collapsed not long until she got back up and that was when her 'devil' mode first appeared."
"So it's like she has two souls?" Namjoon glared at Jackson with a hard face.
"It's not logical at all," said Namjoon.
"Does she remember anything when she turns?" Yuta asked again.
Namjoon spoke. "No. But she'd always have some weird dreams in her sleep."
"What do you mean 'weird dreams?" Jackson asked not knowing of it.
"She told me there was a guy calling her name 'Yoobin' and he was warning her 'run, don't let him find you' or something like that a few days ago." Yuta gasped as he heard of the dream.
"Kim Namjoon, that wasn't a dream... It's her memory."
"What?!" The duo was shocked with Yuta's information.
"Those words... was our Big Boss's last words to Lady Yoobin before he died in her arms..."

"At that time, Lady Yoobin, me and the others who supported her were trying to protect our Big Boss from the traitors. We all tried to protect our Big Boss but... he sacrificed himself from Lady Yoobin getting stabbed."
"She didn't have a chance to return the favour to her father for what he had done to her. Saving her from dying in the forest and saving her again from being stabbed. The enemies kept coming after us and one by one, our members died for us. We were tired and injured badly. I was unconscious, and I blamed myself as I couldn't protect her and let those bastards kill her. But..."

Yuta suddenly stopped talking, blinking fast as he had a thoughtful expression. "Dude, are you alright? What is it?" asked Jackson.
"I... I remember! I saw her 'devil mode' before." Namjoon and Jacksons' eyes widened at that, eager for him to tell them.
Nodding, Yuta continued. "Yeah, I remembered when she took down all the enemies by herself. I've never seen her face like that before. She was desperate to kill everyone until she suddenly collapsed because of the beatings she got previously." stated Yuta.
"And that time you took her away while you had the chance and hid her?" Jackson asked. Yuta nodded in affirmative.
"So... the dream she had was... her memory..." Namjoon muttered.
Yuta called his name. "Mister Kim Namjoon?" Namjoon looked up at him.
"After Lady Yoobin got her memories back, I want you, Mister Jackson and Miss Yuna to run away from here."
"What do you mean we have to run away?" asked Jackson.
"I... I shouldn't tell you this... but she's going to kill all of you if she finds out the truth, about who she is." Yuta tried to warn them but Jackson was dubious.
"You're joking, right? Dami would never do that to us. Hell, we're like family now," said Jackson. Still, Yuta shook his head.
"Lady Yoobin really hates when someone lies to her especially people she trusts and that has happened to one of our members when he backstabbed Lady Yoobin last year. That's why I want to warn you." Jackson still couldn't believe that Dami would do that to them, especially Namjoon. Namjoon turned to Jackson, before turning back to Yuta telling him his plan.
"Actually... I'm already prepared if she's got her memories. I'll take care of it. Jackson and Yuna won't be involved."
Jackson swiftly turned to his friend, shaking his shoulders to make him see sense. "Don't be fucking stupid, Namjoon!" Jackson exclaimed.
Namjoon pulled away from his grip. "Yes, Jack. I am fucking stupid!" Namjoon replied.
"But, I thought you loved her?!" Namjoon froze at Jackson's statement as his secret was out. Even Yuta, shocked at the information looked back and forth between them.
Just then, Namjoon stood up abruptly and went to the door. "I have to go now," he said shortly and walked away from the room.
Jackson and Yuta just watched him go and the atmosphere was silent for a while. Yuta broke the silence, asking Jackson, "So... he had fallen in love with her, huh? But I thought he hates yakuza?"
Jackson huffed out a laugh. "That fucker fell in love with Yoobin before he knew she was the yakuza boss."
Namjoon walked out of the restaurant and proceeded to his van. As he unlocked the van and went inside, he remained silent and banged his head on the steering wheel.
"Ugh dammit, Jackson. You shouldn't have said that..." he muttered cursing as his secret was out. Maybe he should've played it cool and brushed it off. But every single thing about her seemed to spin him off his axis. Shaking his head, he started the engine and drove back home.
Fifteen minutes later, he arrived at his house. He jumped out of the van and went straight to the door opening it.
"I'm home," he said loudly, as he locked the door. He found the house quiet, with no sound of gunshots or metal banging together. He found that a good sign as he stepped further in the house.
"Yuju must be at home," he mumbled. As he went further in the house, he heard a weird noise coming from the bathroom. He proceeded to the bathroom where he saw Dami trying to clean the toilet.
"What the hell are you doing, idiot?!"
"Duh, cleaning the bathroom. I thought it's my turn this week?"
"You're supposed to take a rest. Your arm is still not recovered yet." He pointed at her wound which was still had a red spot on it.
"I have been resting too much these days. I don't want to get more chubby," she spoke as she got up and proceeded to the sink but she accidentally stepped on the toilet bowl bottle cleaner and her feet slipped.
Namjoon quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him but he lost his balance and fell down on the floor while Dami fell down on his lap.
"That hurt..." Namjoon groaned in pain but still, he was more concerned about Dami due to her injury. "Are you okay?" he asked. Dami replied with a nod as she checked her foot, glaring at the bottle cleaner near them.
Namjoon sighed. "Be careful next time, will ya..." Namjoon pulled her head to his chest and patted it. Dami sensed some weird atmosphere around her or maybe it was just hearing the heartbeat from Namjoon's chest. But the weirdest moment was Namjoon patting her head as he had never done that before.
Soon after that, she tried to break the moment as she felt something painful. "Er... Namjoon oppa?"
"Huh?"
"You're... touching my stitches." Namjoon didn't realize he was holding her arm where the gunshot wound was there.
He quickly let go of his grip as Dami groaned in pain. "Ah! I-I'm sorry! Did the stitches opened?"
"No, but you held on too hard."
"S-sorry..." he apologized.
"Jeez, oppa. It's my first time seeing you being a fucking clutz. Are you alright?"
Namjoon stuttered. "O-of course I am!" Dami grumbled and came close towards his face.
"W-what are you doing, idiot?" Namjoom became startled but Dami ignored his question. His heartbeat began to quicken, slightly having deja vu as he remembered it happening in a gymnasium hall.
'Damn it,' he cursed internally. But then, Dami put her palm on his forehead.
"Are you sick? Your face is really red right now." She tried to check his temperature with her palm but Namjoon pushed her away from him as he started to panic.
"N-no I'm not!" He yelled and ran inside his room, leaving Dami bewildered on the floor.
"Weird," she muttered. She didn't realize her right hand was touching her head like when Namjoon patted her head. She had never felt something like that and more so, she didn't remember when the last time someone patted her head comfortingly.
"And this feeling is weird too..."
