FOUR. a kiss of sorts
GIRLS' TRIPS weren't really Alexa's style. Yet, what really was Alexa's style?
Carly had asked the girl to join her and Harper on a road trip/girls' trip thing for the weekend.
After the hotel found out the founder of a multimillion dollar company would be staying, they upgraded their hotel room to a much bigger and luxurious room.
"I say this as someone who needs a girlfriend." Freddie smiled, "You need a girlfriend."
Spencer had stopped by to show everyone his little bird house that he made. He claimed that he was tired of dating for fun, that he wanted to settle down.
As soon as the statement left his lips Alexa walked into the shared apartment of Carly and Harper.
She struggled to bring her belongings inside and Freddie stood to his feet to help her. She thanked him and flopped down on the couch.
"What's all that?" Carly asked, "We're only going for the weekend."
"I know, but I liked to give people things when I get things for free." She answered, "It's called kindness. Pass it on."
"Oh!" Spencer exclaimed, "Inspiration has struck. Birdhouses for people."
With his excitement, Spencer left the apartment to head back to his own.
"I feel like I've missed something." Alexa said.
"You missed nothing." Harper said, "Spencer's life is just sad. I'm over it. Girls' trip!"
"Yay, you guys!" Freddie sarcastically cheered.
"Come on." Alexa stood, "I'm sure you'll find something to do while the only three women in your life are off having fun."
"Nothing is going to stop us from having fun." Carly said.
Harper opened the door and on the other side stood a girl named Maeve. She was Harper's cousin who disappeared four years ago.
Harper offered to take her along on the girls' trip, but going anywhere scared Meave, with was completely understandable.
"Why don't you guys just stay here?" Alexa suggested, "It's great bonding especially when you've been gone for four years."
"You'd be felt alone on the trip with Carly." Freddie muttered.
Alexa pursed her lips and smiled, "You know what... come! I'm sure there won't any pirates."
Carly pulled her phone out and sighed. She said that she couldn't go because of some iCarly deadlines that had been pushed further up and she couldn't miss it.
"Well..." Alexa smiled, "Bye guys. I have a trip!"
Alexa grabbed her suitcase and turned to wave the group goodbye and paused, sighing at the look on Freddie's face.
"Do you want to go Freddie?"
"Yes please."
He rushed out his apartment and the two of them were on their way to the... exes trip.
"Is not gonna be awkward with us sharing a room, is it?" Freddie asked, unlocking the door to the room.
"Can't be more awkward than that time we had in college."
Freddie turned, "You said it was okay."
"And it was." Alexa smiled, "It was just okay."
Freddie stepped inside the room and turned on the lights. And instead of the party suite that they said that they had given Alexa, Carly, and Harper; it turned out to be a honeymoon suite of sorts.
Freddie picked up the pamphlet by the door, "Party of two. An intimate experience for lovers in love." He read, "Wow, come with a couples massage with five flavors of lotion."
Freddie sighed and sat the pamphlet down. He declared that he would call downstairs to see if he could get them a different room that didn't feel so... lovely.
Alexa opened one for the drawers and found that it was full of chocolate and told him to hang out the phone and the room that they were in was completely fine.
A couple of hours later, Alexa and Freddie sat on the small couch in matching robes and pajamas, sipping on champagne and eating the chocolate that had been shared between the two of them.
Alexa draped her legs over Freddie's lap and he rested on of his arms them against her legs.
"Look at us." Freddie smiled, "Girls'-trippin', champagne sippin', and chocolate drawer drippin'. Oh! And I brought something for you."
Alexa removed her legs from Freddie's lap and sat crisscrossed and held her champagne glass in both her hands.
He pulled a shirt out and once she unraveled it, it read: My Way or the Rosé.
"I'm never going to wear this out, but thank you." She smiled, "Thanks for coming with me. I probably would've been working on business things if you didn't show up."
"Shall we look at my itinerary?" He asked, pulling his phone out, "Gossip on the drive here. Check. Freak out over how great the room is. Check. Look in all the drawers for weird stuff people left behind."
Alexa and Freddie quickly stood up from the couch and began check the drawers in the room.
Alexa furrowed her brows and pressed a button that was on top of the bedside table. Soon, the lights in the room changed and music began playing... sexy music if you will.
"I want to have s-s-s-sex. With you, baby."
"Is this weird?" Alexa asked.
"Not at all." Freddie scoffed.
Alexa sighed and sat down on the bed, grabbing a pillow and holding it close.
"You know what? You take the bed. It's so fancy it'll ruin me for all future beds."
Alexa gave him a small smile, "It's pretty comfortable. If you want to try."
Freddie sat down next to Alexa and a small smile grew on his face.
"Oh, yeah." He smiled, "Oh, yeah!"
The two of them laid in the very comfortable bed and suddenly the door opened and a girl named Brooke walked inside.
The ex couple sat up from their bed and furrowed their brows at the girl.
"Who the hell are you?" Alexa asked.
"Brooke?" Freddie questioned, "She's the girl that when to college with Harper. She didn't tell you about her coming on the trip, but cancelled?"
"No."
"Let's get the party started!" Brooke smiled, "Oh. Looks like the party already started."
"No." Alexa said, rolling out of the bed. She once again hit the button on the bedside table and flowers began falling from the ceiling.
"I'm so glad Carly and Harper told me that you were coming." Alexa smiled, "Did you find your car?"
"It was never stolen. I just forgot where I parked it." She smiled, "I am a total hot mess. Isn't that cute, though?"
"Adorable." Freddie smiled.
"Are you sure I'm not interrupting something?" Brooke asked once more.
"Trust me, nothing could've been ruined by you." Alexa smiled.
"Yay. Girls' trip, plus a cute guy."
"And now a cute girl."
Alexa rolled her eyes, "Oh my, God."
Brooke held her smiled and pulled Freddie into a hug.
"Sorry, I'm a hugger. We're gonna have a really good time."
"Don't have loud sex." Alexa said, "Because I'm here too."
A couple of hours passed and the trio found themselves sitting at a glass table within the room.
"Shall we make a toast?" Alexa asked.
Brooke and Freddie smiled and he instantly turned towards Brooke.
"To Brooke, for getting her car back so she can be here." He smiled.
"Aw." Brooke smiled, "And to Freddie for making such a sweet toast."
The two of the tipped their glasses together and Alexa sat with her glass in her hand and the other hand resting against her face.
"And to me, for suffering." She falsely smiled, "Because now I'll be drunk enough to forget the night."
Someone began knocking on the door and Alexa stood to get it, seeing as Brooke and Freddie were pretty occupied with each other.
She opened it and on the other side stood a masseuse who was there to get a couples massage.
"Oh, I don't think we'll be needing those. There's actually three of us here."
"Actually," Brooke stood, "I have a lot of tension from my car almost being stolen. I could really use a massage. I'll get undressed."
She began to undress in the middle of the room with Freddie quickly following suit.
Alexa turned towards the two masseuses, "I'll pay you to make it hurt. Like, real bad."
Alexa sat on her bed, her laptop in her lap as she was going over ideas for her beauty brand. This was something she hadn't planned on, but she hadn't expected Brooke either.
She sighed, leaning back on the bed with a chocolate bar in her hand and her phone in the other as Brooke and Freddie were getting massages.
"Hey, there's a carnival in town this weekend." She smiled, "Should we go?"
"Oh, yeah!" The two of them moaned.
"What are you two saying yeah to? The carnival of the massage?"
The two of them only continue to moan "Oh, yeah" and that gave Alexa her answer fairly quickly. She grabbed her headphones from her bag next to her and slipped them on.
She would rather stab her eyes out than listen to the two of them enjoy their massages.
The next day, the trio went out to the carnival and Alexa hadn't had as much fun as she anticipated. She has been looking down at her phone more than ever while Brooke and Freddie seemed to be having the time of their lives.
In fact, she still was looking down at her phone as the retuned to the hotel room.
"I was just in awe of how you were able to win this unicorn for me." Brooke smiled at Freddie.
"What can I say? I'm incredibly good at ring toss."
"It's the only tossing he's good at." Alexa joked without looking at the duo.
Her joke was ignored and Freddie asked Brooke if she had something that she wanted to do that night.
"I do have a few ideas."
Alexa placed her phone in her pocket and clasped her hands together, "I have an idea. Why don't we go to the tiki bar and try their knockoff exotic drinks."
"That's a great idea, Alexa." Freddie smiled, "Here, take this wad of cash. Have so much fun, okay? Let us know how it is." He said, pushing the girl out of the room, "Bye."
Alexa opened the door he shut and placed the wad of cash in her hands.
"Trust me. I don't need your money. I've made a million in second I've spoken to you."
She shut the door behind her and left the two of them alone. She made her way down to the tiki bar and had been sipping on her piña colada.
For the past half hour people had approached her talking about her brand, what they liked about it, what they liked about her. The same spiel she's heard thousands of times over.
She was ditched on her girls' trip, Freddie had completely left her alone, and the bartender had called her lonely... or so she thought. It was actually the name of the drink.
She grabbed the next one the bartender brought her and left the bar to sit out side the resort.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket and prayed that the person she was FaceTiming would answer.
And to her luck, he had.
"Alexa Adora Romano!" Chase Matthews shouted, "How's the girls' trip?"
"The worst." She sighed, "Remember that Harper girl I told you about? She couldn't come and Carly had iCarly things so I asked Freddie to come and now Harper's college roommate is hear and now they're probably hooking up in the softest bed I've ever slept in."
"Damn, I'm sorry about that Lex." He said, "What happened to the woman who is typically fussing the shit out of people?"
"I don't want to be rude to a girl I don't know."
"Who cares?" He asked, "You were kind enough to let her stay and now she's probably hooking up with your ex who you obviously like in your bedroom."
"Don't try and sneak that shit in."
"Am I wrong?" He asked.
"He's been married twice and I've yet to be in a relationship since him. I can't really say whether or not I'm still into him."
Chase smiled, "Yes you can. You've been reunited with the guy for several months now. You're telling me nothing had happened that made you think that you and Freddie could have a second chance?"
Alexa gulped her drink down and thought about his question. There were small moments in the day to day lives where maybe something could've been more than what it was and the time where Nevel tried to marry her, but she wouldn't put much thought into anything with Freddie until this very moment.
"You suck." She sighed, "Now I'm thinking things."
"As a businesswoman, you should."
She gave Chase a small smile, "Don't you have a movie to direct or something?"
"I do. If you need anything, just call."
"Always."
The two of them waved goodbye and Alexa stood to her feet. She made her way back to the shared bedroom and demanded that she be part of the fun and their fun included a game of M.A.S.H.
She sat down on the bed next to Freddie as Brooke stood up, saying she'd be right back.
"What are you doing here?" Freddie asked once Brooke was out of sight, "I was trying to get my alone time."
"You got the massages and I got back pain. I'm getting my fifteen minutes." She answered, "You ditched me."
Freddie sighed, "I'm sorry. It's just... ever since I got divorced, the second time, also the first time, but mostly the second time, I just felt like I'm never gonna meet someone who's right for me."
"You feel that way about Brooke?"
"I don't know, maybe." He answered, "It's fun making out with her."
Alexa gave him a small smile, tucking her knees under her chin, "Guess that's fair. I guess I wish I had something. Or someone. I did the one thing I didn't want to do on this trip and that was work. Probably would've been at ease if I had someone to make out with."
"Ding dong." Brooke smiled, stepping into the room, "I might be able to help with that. You know, it took me a minute, but I think I finally get what you two have been trying to tell me. The honeymoon suite, the massage. Harper and Carly conveniently not being able to come at the last minute. Not to mention the obvious sexual tension between me and Alexa."
"The sexual what?" Alexa questioned.
"You want Hot Mess Brooke for a hot messy threesome."
"I think I would rather stab my—"
Freddie leaned forward, "Let's hear the woman out."
"I say we jump right in." Brooke said, "You know, because rules and boundaries, they make everything so blah."
"Brooke, we're not trying to have a threesome with you." Freddie said.
"Oh, God. Why does this keep happening to me? First at that funeral and then at the DMV. I'm just gonna grab another drink from the hallway and go home."
Brooke grabbed her belongings and paused, "Do either of you know where I parked my car?"
"No?"
"Okay, I'll just walk around and listen for the "boop, boop."."
Brooke soon left. Alexa and Freddie alone once more and Alexa decided to flop down onto the bed.
"Should I get a different room?" Freddie asked.
"It's okay. I think we're mature enough to let this fly over the barn."
Freddie soon sat down next to Alexa on the bed. She continued to lie there with her eyes shut.
"I always called Chase when I needed him." Alexa said, "He's been my best friend since diapers."
Freddie sat and listened, not really sure where the conversation was heading towards.
When Alexa said she was going down to the bar to try the fake exotic drinks she meant it. She wasn't drunk enough to forget, but she was drunk enough to do anything.
"He told me something that I think I've chosen to ignore since I've been back in Seattle."
"Which is?"
Alexa finally opened her eyes and sat upright. She turned her body towards Freddie and sighed.
She held her pinky finger out, "Promise you won't make fun of me?"
Freddie held a small smile and latched his finger with hers.
"Remember how I said I've never dated after you?" She asked.
He only nodded and she continued.
"I think I was trying to find someone like you and couldn't." She said, "Because there was only you."
"Alexa."
She sighed, "You can get a different hotel room if you want. I just needed to say it."
"Do you feel any better?"
"I don't know."
Freddie leaned forward and placed a gently kiss upon Alexa's lips and back away almost as soon as his lips touched hers.
"Are you sure you don't want me to get a room?" He asked.
"I'm sure."
