6. Moments of Love
Suhanika is still upset due to Anamika’s behavior. The girl is fine; she’ll be kept under observation for a day and will be released later. Their day starts with yet another argument.
“Agar aapko meri aur hum sabki parwah hoti toh aap zidd nahi karti. Ab aap mujhe apne jhoothe concerns mat dikhaao,” Anamika says, her tone sharp with accusations.
“Anu, teri tabiyat abhi theek nahi hai, please aise gussa mat kar. Meri baat maan, aaram kar,” Suhanika tries to divert the topic.
“Aap chali jao yahan se, mujhe aapse koi baat nahi karni aur na hi mujhe aapse koi excuse chahiye,” Anamika says bluntly, and her words pinch Suhanika’s heart.
At the same time, Vineet and Ruhana enter the ward to meet Anamika. Ruhana hugs Anamika carefully. They’ve already noticed the tense environment in the ward, so to ease the tension, Vineet quips a funny thought.
“Anamika, tumne toh humein dara diya tha. Achche se khana khaya karo. Aise roz chakkar kha ke girogi toh kaise chalega?” Vineet asks, his tone teasing, with a smile at the corners of his mouth.
“Apni behen se kaho ki tumhe achche se khana khilaaye, nahi toh tum kamzor ho jaogi,” he says jokingly.
“Nahi, uski zaroorat nahi hai, Vineet ji! Unse behtar main apna khayal rakh sakti hoon. Di se umeed karna sahi nahi hai,” Anamika says bluntly, leaving Suhanika shocked.
Ruhana and Vineet are slightly amused but expected this. Ruhana sighs deeply. She turns her gaze to Anamika and finds that she’s still looking at her sister. Meanwhile, the nurse enters the room and asks Suhanika to purchase some medicine. Vineet offers to get the medicine. Suhanika agrees and gives him the prescription. He leaves the room, leaving the ladies alone.
Suhanika sits on the couch as she watches Anamika interact with Ruhana. She longs for the moment when her sister will talk to her the way she does with the other lady. However, she can only hope that Anamika will forget the bitter past and reconcile with her soon. Hoping won’t do any harm, after all.
Her gaze shifts towards her sister, who’s laughing at a joke narrated by Ruhana. Her lips curve into a small smile. However, unbeknownst to her, Anamika’s gaze is fixed on her, and the next thing she hears is Anamika’s voice.
“Ruu Di, mujhe ghar nahi jana. Main kuch din aapke sath rahun?” Anamika asks.
“Mere sath? Lekin tujhe tere ghar jana chahiye, wahan Suhani hai na…” Ruhana says, but Anamika cuts her off.
“Mujhe unke baare mein baat nahi karni, Di. Aap ye batao, aap mujhe apne sath le jaaoge?” Anamika asks, hope in her eyes.
“Dekho, uncle bhi nahi hain, aur unhone toh kaha tha ki hum kabhi bhi aapke ghar aa sakte hain. Please Di, mujhe aapke sath rehna hai,” Anamika requests, her tone hopeful, referring to Ruhana’s father.
“Di, le jaaiye isey, aap toh jaanti hain na, kitni ziddi hai ye ladki! Shayad iska gussa kam ho jaye,” Suhanika says, looking at her sister and Ruhana.
“Aap pe jitna gussa hai, vo kabhi kam nahi hone wala, isliye aap chup raho, maine Ruu Di se pucha hai,” Anamika replies bluntly.
“Okay, okay, tum dono lado mat. Ana, dekh, abhi tu theek nahi hai, aaj aaram kar. Main shaam ko laut ke dekhti hoon, kya karna hai. Doctor ne kaha ki tujhe shaam ko chhutti milegi, tab tak main sab decide kar lungi, theek hai?” Ruhana says tenderly, and Anamika nods.
Meanwhile, Vineet comes with the medicine, and the nurse enters the ward with breakfast for Anamika. The girl makes a face at the bland food but knows that no one is going to listen to her. Ruhana makes it a little more interesting with fruits, so she quietly eats her meal while Ruhana gives her the medicines. Suhanika sends a thankful glance towards Ruhana, who signals her to meet outside the ward. On the other hand, Anamika drifts into sleep due to the effects of the medicine. Ruhana takes Suhanika out of the ward and cups her face, having already read the sadness from her expressions.
“Main jaanti hoon, Suhaani, tum udaas ho, lekin aise kaam nahi chalega. Tumhe himmat toh rakhni hi padegi,” Ruhana explains, her tone filled with concern.
“Par Di, aapne dekha na usne kaise mujhse baat ki, yeh aisa hi karti hai. Main maanti hoon, 10 saal pehle jo hua vo meri wajah se hua lekin uski saza yeh mujhe ab tak de rahi hai,” Suhanika says, and finally breaks into tears.
“Nahi Suhani, tumhari galti nahi thi. Haan, shayad thoda precaution tumhe ya uncle ko lena chahiye tha, lekin it's okay. Agar wo toofan nahi aata, barish nahi hoti, toh sab theek hi hota na…” Ruhana questions, and Suhanika looks at her.
“Shayad ye sab hona likha tha aur tum uski wajah ban gayi. Actual mein aisa hi hota hai, Suhanika. Isliye khud ko blame mat karo. Tum ghar jao, fresh hokar aao. Ana ke paas Purvi rahegi,” Ruhana says.
“Main idhar hi theek hoon, Di. Aap log case solve kar lo,” Suhanika says, requesting that Purvi dedicate her time to the case.
“Suhanika, ab tum CID ka hissa ho, aur hum sab family hain. Main yahan rukti hoon. Tum aur Anamika bhi toh mere dost ho. Tum aaram se jao,” Purvi says affectionately, and Suhanika smiles through her tears.
She gets her bag, and Ruhana and Vineet drop her home on their way to the bureau. Ruhana asks her not to worry and also to have something, to which Suhani agrees. As they turn towards the bureau, Vineet notices that Ruhana is silent.
“Kya hua, Senorita? Kya soch rahi ho?” he asks.
“Ye kya Senorita laga rakha hai tumne, Vineet?” Ruhana asks, slightly annoyed by him using the nickname.
“That’s your nickname. Ab Abhijeet Sir aur Daya Sir tumhe nickname de sakte hain, toh main kyun nahi?” He rolls his eyes at her, and she can’t help but smile.
“Oh okay, call whatever you like, lekin Papa ke saamne nahi, haan? Nahi toh tumhe nikaal denge wo,” she says, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
“Nahi nahi, uski naubat nahi aayegi, main sasurji ko mana lunga,” he says playfully, causing her to laugh.
Yep, these two are in a relationship and want to take it forward. They don’t know if ACP Sir will agree, but Vineet wants to try his luck. However, he’s already in the senior officer’s good books, so he might pass his tests. Returning to the topic, Vineet asks about the sisters, and Ruhana fills him about the conversation that happened in his absence.
“Toh ab tum kya karogi?” he asks.
“Pata nahi, Vineet. Mujhe bas kisi bhi tarah in dono ka jhagda khatam karvana hai,” she responds, her tone filled with concern.
“Toh tum Anamika ko apne sath rakho, main Suhanika se baat karta hoon. What do you say?” he suggests, and Ruhana likes the suggestion.
“Great idea, after this case, hum yahi karenge,” Ruhana says, and he agrees.
They reach the bureau and are welcomed with news that makes them happy—maybe the culprit is not far away now. At least, they hope so.
To Be Continued.
