Chapter Twenty-Six
"Sounds interesting." Grace nodded at Harry, and shifted her gaze on Taylor.
"What about you Taylor? You told me you already have a song in mind. What was it called again?" Grace asked, trying to recall their phone conversation just a few days ago.
"It's called Wildest Dreams." Taylor informed and Grace lightened up her expression.
"Of course. Now, if you two will come with me we're going to record your songs." Grace said, and turned her heels towards the recording studio.
"So we're going to record our music, now? Together?" Harry asked, both following Grace into the studio. He scratched the back of his neck, all of this was new to him, he didn't know a single thing about this.
"Yes, we're going to record the song parts that you already have in mind, and also yes, you two Will be sharing the same studio." Grace said, and entered the studio, where two men were sitting in a swivel chair talking quietly.
"Max and Ryan, meet our new singer, Harry." Grace introduced them to Harry, and Harry simply waved and smiled to the both of them.
"Right, now let's get started shall we? We have a lot of work to do." Grace said, and grabbed an extra swivel chair on the corner.
"Let's start with you, Taylor. What's the lyrics?" Grace asked, directly to the point. She crossed her legs, and looked intently at Taylor.
"Well, it goes a little like this.." Taylor trailed off, and cleared her throat before singing the first verse.
"He said, "Let's get out of this town
Drive out of the city
Away from the crowds"
I thought heaven can't help me now
Nothing lasts forever.." Taylor sang, and ended the song.
She looked away from Grace and deep down her heart was aching because she knew that the person behind these lyrics was just around the corner.
Meanwhile, Harry stood there in the corner. He was speechless, Taylor's voice was music to his ears. Her voice was even better when it was acoustic.
But, what Harry really paid attention to, are the lyrics to her song.
He couldn't help but think the flashbacks and the memories about him saying to Taylor to get away from their town. All of these sounded familiar to Harry.
Could this be another song about him? Harry thought, but she wasn't the only one who was writing songs about their past relationship.
"Great. What about you Harry? What's the lyrics of Two Ghosts?" Grace asked, and everyone's gazes turned to Harry.
"Uh, well it goes a little like this.." Harry stuttered, he wasn't prepared for all of this.
He thought he was just going to finish the song and record the first verse. He wasn't prepared to sing in front of everyone, especially singing in front of Taylor.
"Same lips red, same eyes blue same white shirt, couple more tattoos.
But it's not you and it's not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can't touch what I see.." Harry sang the first verse and quickly averted his gaze at Taylor.
She was just standing, and smiling at him. Harry gave her a small smile before returning his gaze to look at Grace.
Harry wondered what she felt, how she reacted when he sang the lyrics.
Was she happy? Disappointed?
But Harry hoped that she liked the song as much as him.
Taylor smiled as her reaction, looking excited and happy for Harry.
But inside, she was just shocked as he was.
Could it be possible that the song is about her? Or maybe she was just being too full of herself to think that it was about her
Maybe it wasn't about her. In the span of five months, many things can happen.
Maybe he dated a girl with red lips and blue eyes. Taylor thought, that the song couldn't be about her. She knee that they both moved on and nothing more than friends.
Taylor convinced herself that the song isn't about her.
But in reality, the song is about her.
The one and only Her.
"What a great start Harry. Well, who wants to go first?" Grace asked, and looked at Harry and Taylor.
Harry and Taylor just looked at each other, not wanting to take the lead.
Taylor looked at the polished wooden floor, and crosses her arms waiting for someone to speak up.
Grace heaved a sigh, filling the empty silence in the room.
"Alright, nobody wants to go first?" Grace asked, and got no answers.
Harry and Taylor remained quiet, still in shock about their songs for each other.
"Well, Taylor why don't you go first? You have more experience, Harry can watch what he's going to do." Grace said, and Taylor lifted her head up to look at Grace.
Taylor nodded, and walked towards Grace leaving Harry in a corner.
"But first, can you write down the lyrics you've finished? You too Harry." Grace said, and Harry nodded and followed her instructions.
"I've already wrote mine." Taylor said, while pulling out a black notebook from her purse.
Harry stared at them, noticing that he didn't brought a single thing with him.
Taylor opened her black notebook, and ripped a piece of page, handing it to Harry.
"Here." Taylor said, while handing the piece of paper that she ripped from her notebook.
"Thanks." Harry muttered, and Taylor curtly nodded and turned back to face Grace.
Harry saw an abandoned pen on top of a table, he grabbed it and started writing the lyrics that got stuck in his head.
Taylor handed the notebook to Grace. She eyed the lyrics, and nodding at the same time.
Grace returned the notebook to Taylor and clasped her together.
"Alright, is that already finished?" Grace asked.
"It is, just finished it yesterday." Taylor said, and closed the notebook.
"Well, let's get started. We'll record the first verse, and see how it goes." Grace said, and Taylor nodded.
While writing the lyrics, Harry looked at Taylor who was entering inside the recoding studio.
He placed the pen down for a moment, and watched Taylor record her song.
Taylor placed the headphone around her head, and cleared her throat.
Max signaled and gave a approve sign with his fingers.
Taylor nodded at his direction, and started to sing the first verse.
Taylor knew what the rhythm and the flow of the song is going to be. She already had it planned out.
"He said, "Let's get out of this town
Drive out of the city
Away from the crowds"
I thought heaven can't help me now
Nothing lasts forever.." Taylor sang the first part, she looked at the Grace to see if she had to stop.
But Grace just smiled, and nodded signaling to keep on going.
Taylor nodded, and understood what she meant and kept singing the pre chorus.
"But this is gonna take me down
He's so tall, and handsome as hell
He's so bad but he does it so well
I can see the end as it begins, my one condition is.. " Taylor looked again at Grace and signaled to keep on going.
Taylor closed her eyes, and started singing the chorus.
"Say you'll remember me
Standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset babe
Red lips and rosy cheeks
Say you'll see me again even if it's just in your wildest dreams..
Wildest dreams." Taylor still kept her eyes closed for a while. Trying to let her own lyrics sink in. Taylor didn't know why she felt emotional singing this. Maybe it's because all of the lyrics are true, and came from her heart.
Taylor opened her eyes, and saw Grace signaling to stop.
Taylor nodded, and removed the headphones on her ears.
She exited the recording studio, and gave Grace a skeptical look.
"I think we should do a bit of editing on that part." Grace said, pointing to the lyric.
"Was it okay?" Taylor asked, and fidgeted with her fingers.
"It was more than okay. I guess that will be all for now. Your turn Harry." Grace said, and Taylor turned to face Harry.
He stopped writing, and looked at the both of them.
"Well, this is all the lyrics I've got." Harry said, handing the piece of paper that was filled with lyrics.
"No worries, we're only probably going to record the first verse and the pre chorus." Grace said, and read the lyrics that Harry wrote.
"You can get in the recording studio." Grace said, and handed the piece of paper back to Harry.
Harry nodded, and passed by Taylor to get in the studio.
Taylor grabbed the extra swivel chair, and sat watching Harry.
Harry gulped, and saw the nerve wracking scene. People watching him was out of his comfort zone.
He placed the same headphones that Taylor used around his ear, and looked Max to give him the signal.
Max signaled an approval sign, and Harry nodded nervously.
He was never comfortable singing in front of people, but if this is what a singer does, then Harry needs to overcome his fear.
"Same lips red, same eyes blue
Same white shirt, couple more tattoos
But it's not you and it's not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real
Sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can't touch what I see.." Harry looked at Max and Grace they just signaled to go on.
Harry took a quick glance at Taylor, and Harry couldn't read the reaction on her face.
Maybe she liked it, and maybe she didn't. But what Harry knew for sure that she definitely noticed that the song was about her.
"We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat.." Harry sang the lyrics, and looked at Grace. She gave a stop sign.
Harry took off the headphones, and exited the studio.
"We'll cut it off there, do you mind if we make that as your chorus?" Grace asked, and Turned to face Harry.
"No, of course not. You're the experts." Harry shrugged, and Grace took that as a mental note.
"I guess that's all for today, come back tomorrow, same time same place." Grace said, and they both nodded.
Taylor and Harry exited the studio, and went through the hallways to get to the elevator.
"Never knew you could sing so well." Taylor blurted out.
"And I never knew you could write so well. I guess we don't know about each other that well." Harry shrugged, and Taylor could not agree more.
They reached the elevator, and the cool air of the elevator greeted them as they entered.
"Going home?" Harry asked, as he pressed the ground floor button.
"Maybe, I haven't had lunch yet." Taylor said nonchalantly, and Harry turned to face her.
She was looking upwards to the ceiling of the elevator, she didn't seem to notice that Harry was looking at her.
Harry just couldn't get tired of looking at her. Her red plump lips and her delicate soft skin made Harry stare even more.
She was perfection to Harry's vision.
Harry broke his gaze at Taylor, noticing that he was staring at her for a while.
"Why don't we have lunch together?" Harry suddenly asked before he could even process what he said.
Taylor thought for a while, not breaking her gaze at the ceiling.
If she will accept it, maybe she would fall for him all over again because his simple charms make her fall everytime.
But, they were friends after all. Friends, and nothing more.
"Don't worry, it'll be a friendly lunch out." Harry said, as if he could read what was going on in Taylor's head.
"Sure, but it's on you, okay?" Taylor asked, and finally faced Harry.
"Of course, It's on me." Harry chuckled.
They both exited the elevator, and went to the nearest restaurant they could find.
It may seem that they're going out on a friendly date, but they both knew that it was something so much more.
