There was a large bang outside and the alarm sounded. "Intruder alert" JARVIS repeated. A minute later he announced "security breached..."
Azari quickly responded and was prepared for an attack, as were Pym and Torrun. Tony went to the citadel while Francis took the breach as a drill and took his time gathering his equipment. James...he was out of commission and tried to stay hidden. Bucky had woken up probably faster than anyone, at the first crash. He shook Steve awake soon after, who was a heavy sleeper and would have slept through about a minute of the alarms.
The Next Avengers (plus Cap and Bucky) gathered in a clearing close to the breach. There, they saw someone approaching.
"Is that an easy chair or something? This guy's got the right idea." Francis said.
"Aw no," Steve sighed shaking his head, "I told you guys about Kang right?" Torun took off, her sword over her head. "Wait don't!!* His......too late" Steve remarked as Torun's sword was completely deflected by a force field and she was flung towards the Earth.
"I've got her!" Pym said, shrinking and flying to where she was about to crash and then growing to giant size and catching her.
"We need a plan of attack**...and a distraction," Steve explained.
"I can make a distraction Captain," Azari offered.
"Thanks," Steve said gratefully, and began explaining as Azari made a ball of electricity around himself.
"All of his power comes from his chair. If we get him off we have a chance." He paused and looked back at Azari who was using his electric powers to attack Kang from a distance. He would attack for a few seconds and then sprint away so Kang couldn't hit him. "We have to time this right and focus on one point. I need you guys to listen closely to me and I'll tell you what to do." Steve said, shortening his explanation as he saw Azari blasted backwards by Kang. "Buck can
you-" James cut him off knowing he wanted him to go check on Azari.
"On it!"he said running over to Azari who was slowly getting up.
"Torrun go behind Kang." Cap ordered; she nodded. "Watch out!" he told Pym and pushed him away as a blast from Kang destroyed the spot where he was standing. The team was mostly defensive as they waited for Cap's orders. "Hawkeye run over to his left, shoot three or four arrows at him and make your way over to Torrun." he paused to block an attack. "Pym, I need you giant. When Hawkeye starts running you attack from the right. Everyone meet behind him." Steve finished. Then he saw Azari approaching him. "Help Hawkeye," he told him, "give 'im all you've got!" he told him and patted his back before moving towards Kang.
"I AM KANG THE CONQUEROR! THE FATE OF THE GALAXY DEPENDS ON YOUR CAPTURE AND YOU DARE DEFY ME?!!!!!" he shouted at Steve.
"Last time I controlled the fate of the galaxy it turned out pretty well***." Cap said calmly, providing a small distraction as the Next Avengers got in position. Kang started to land. "NOW HAWKEYE!" Cap shouted and slid under Kang's chair just before it reached the ground. Francis began shooting at him along with Azari. Soon Pym attacked on his right side giving Francis and Azari the time to get to Torrun. Steve reached Torrun seconds before them. He threw his shield at Kang who turned his attention to his flank. Cap signaled Pym to join them. He caught his ricocheting shield and blocked all strikes at the team. "Right at his head," Steve murmured. "On my count...3...2...1 NOW!" he shouted. The team fired all they could at Kang who soon was separated from his chair. "Pym, guard it." he ordered. The rest of the team advanced towards Kang. Unexpectedly, Kang reached forward and grabbed Steve's neck. He gasped a few times, and before the team could react Bucky shot Kang in the back with an arc reactor powered gun****. He started to double over. Steve kicked his stomach, knocking him to the ground, before slumping to the ground himself. Quickly Torrun and Hawkeye helped Cap to his feet. "Nice work guys," he congratulated coughing. He then helped take the unconscious Kang to a newly made prison, extended off of Tony's lab. "I'll be right back" he told Torrun and Hawkeye and smiled, "then we can celebrate." He went over to James' room and knocked on the door.
"Name, rank, and serial number." James stated blankly.
"Steve Rogers; Captain;
5-4-9-8-5-8-7-0*****" Cap responded.
"You can come in. Is it over?" James said.
"Yup," Steve said opening the door, "the rest of the team is celebrating if you wanna come down" he explained.
"What time is it?!" James questioned.
"It doesn't matter. It's tradition, we have to eat shawarma." Steve answered. James gave him a weird look.
"I'm going to bed," he answered.
"Alright, you're missing out," informed Steve as he shut James' door and went back to the rest of the team. On his way, he met Bucky. "Thanks for the save," he told him.
"No problem," he responded.
"You going to eat?" Steve asked.
"You know I'm not one to refuse a party," Bucky responded. "Your neck okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good," Steve told him.
"Which being you means......'It's not going to kill me...maybe.'" Bucky jarred.
"...basically" Steve answered as they walked into the dining room.
"Hey it is the Captain!" Torrun shouted and laughed at herself. Steve laughed too.
"Well I couldn't break tradition!" he replied. Then he asked, "How are you Azari?".
"Well...I'm not 100%," he answered. Steve looked over and saw that there was a circle torn from Azari's suit and his abdomen was badly burnt.
He grimaced "ouch," he commented.
"But I've gotta try this shawarma," Azari stated lightening the mood. Cap noticed Francis was quietly fiddling with his arrows in the corner.
"Nice work out there Hawkeye," he said getting him to look up.
"Thanks...you weren't that bad yourself," he responded.
"Shawarma time!" Tony announced walking into the room and the group cheered. Meanwhile, James was snoring.

*He said this in Captain America: the first avenger when going after Rossaf Manny to save a boy. Manny pointed a gun at the boy and Steve said "wait don't"
