Don't Sound So Surprised

POV: Edmund Pevensie

I had forgotten how heavy armor felt. I got my sword out of my chest (my shield was gone) and got into my armor.

I looked through the clothes in the chest. I smiled when I saw that most of my solid gold chess set was there. And my new torch that was now an old torch.

"Look sharp," Peter suddenly said. "Do you hear that?"

I took off my helmet and listened.

"Ogres..." Susan murmured, realized what she said, and got urgent. "Ogres."

"Lu, stay down here," Peter said. He went to draw the sword from his scabbard and realized he didn't have one. I laughed at his stupidity, and he walked to me. When I thought he was going to say something about how serious this was, he caught me by surprise and drew my sword. He raced up the steps, Susan behind him. I went after and stopped. I wouldn't be any help, I didn't have a weapon. I turned to Lucy, and saw she had her knife drawn. She handed it to me.

I smiled. "Stay down here. I'll be back."

I ran up the stairs to see 2 pink, 8 feet tall, ogres with huge gladius's and loincloths. They had a disgusted face because they swing slap but hard, and Peter was dodging every one of his swings. I put on my helmet.

Susan nocked an arrow and sent it flying into ones stomach. He bellowed in pain, but then just pulled the arrow out as if it hadn't bothered him. Peter dove and swung at the same ogres leg and it cut a deep gash. Now was time. Susan nocked an arrow, and sent it flying at the same ogre. I went in on the one that hadn't had any damage done. I stabbed him in the foot. He looked down curiously, and then got furious. He swooped his big hand down, and I barely had enough time to pull out Lucy's knife and jump aside.

"Ed!" Peter yelled. "There's a battle axe in the armory! Go get it-"

Peter got knocked aside because the Ogre had managed to hit him with his hand, and Peter got knocked a few yards.

I didn't have time to react. I ran downstairs, and then opened another door. The armory. I went in to see swords, shields, battle axes, helmets, armor, sword belts, dummies, spears, crossbows, bows, jousting sticks, kopesh swords, daggers, and all other kinds of weapons. The armory hadn't been bothered, because I recognized everything from when we ruled.

"The golden age," I muttered, before grabbing a sword and shield. I ran back into the room Lucy was waiting in with our chests, and went running up the stairs. Outside, I saw the ogres had made no progress.

Peter swung my sword and took part of the ogre that had been shot with arrows and had a deep gash in his leg. The ogre fell over, and Peter climbed onto his body. I don't think the ogre would've been dead yet, and probably would've stood, but the other ogre made a down motion with his huge sword at Peter, and chopped the ogre laying on the ground in half. That stupid ogre! Barely missing Peter and killing his friend, the ogre on the ground.

The ogre that was still alive realized what he'd done.

"No! I killed my bubba?" He asked in his loud, deep, dopy voice. He sat down, making the ground shake and put his head in his hands and started crying. "I killed my bubba!" He bawled.

All 3 of us looked each other. I started laughing, and the ogre looked at me. Suddenly, he got furious.

He stood up and ran at me, trying to stomp me with his feet. I ran as fast as I could. Then he nearly missed me, and I jumped on his foot. I stabbed the sword in his foot to hold on, and he started madly shaking his huge foot. The ogre was 8 feet tall, and I knew I was at least 4 feet in the air. His foot was easily a foot long, and I was hanging off the edge and my sword was coming loose, but I tried to hold on. He started shaking even harder and I smacked his foot with my shield. Then he started stomping the ground.

"Ready..." I told myself. And just before he hit the ground, I jerked up the sword out of his flesh and jumped off his foot.

"Stupid son of Adam!" Yelled the ogre. Susan notched an arrow and sent it flying. Before the ogre tried something else to kill me, she aimed right between his eyes. She let the arrow fly, and it caught him where she wanted it to. He fell onto his knees, and fell onto his stomach from there. Peter stabbed him in the shoulder a few times to assure he was dead, and the Susan sent another arrow flying at his head.

"He's dead." Peter decided, sticking my sword in the ogres head. Peter cleaned the blade and handed me my sword. I handed him the one I had knowing he was weaponless.

"Thanks," he said, and we headed back down the steps into the basement of Cair Paravel.
