<3 real life nightmares
Becca always had crazy dreams, from aliens invading her home, to her childhood toys coming to life. But ever since her little vacation down under, her crazy dreams turned into nightmares.
They started out small at first only a little tossing and turning here and there. But for the past month they've been causing her to wake up in a panic, cold sweat dripping from every inch of her, tears in her eyes threatening to fall, but the worse part is, she can't tell Ronnie.
The sisters have always been close, they'd do anything to protect one another. And every since the incident Ronnie hasn't shaken the guilt of it. Her little sister that she swore she would protect got dragged to Hell and tortured and there was nothing she could do about it.
And Becca knew of her sisters turmoil, the overbearing nature she had adapted made it very clear. So Becca keeps her dreams to herself in hopes that she can spare her sister from taking on more burden.
So Becca suffers alone behind closed doors away from anywhere her sister might catch her, which is what she's doing now.
Normally she'd read a book or take out her knife collection to polish them, but tonight she just couldn't, she hadn't been able to sleep the past couple of nights and it's taking a toll on her.
So instead of doing something to occupy her mind she chose to sit in bed starring at the wall with the light on. And with nothing to occupy her attention she was easily able to detect the slight footsteps coming from her sisters room.
Now Becca knew her sister like the back of her hand, that girl wasn't waking up for nothing especially in the middle of the night, so the sudden movement instantly put her on edge.
John Hale knew this was a bad idea, he knew he shouldn't even step foot in their front yard let alone climb through one of their windows, but he couldn't help himself.
Ever since he left Becca all he could do was think about the smell, the possibility of what's finally happening, he was just glad Edward hadn't been home for the past couple of days to hear his thoughts.
The only person that knew of his predicament was of course his brother Jasper, and that was not a fun conversation.
Cullen Residence
Jasper looked at his brother with wide eyes -wider than normal- unable to believe what just came out of his mouth.
The second John reached home he was quick to grab his brother who thankfully sat out the family hunting trip having already fed when he arrived home.
They had been sat in silence after the bomb was dropped for a good five minutes, each minute eating away at the older brother in fear of Jaspers disapproval.
Jasper on the other hand didn't know what to think, his older brother, who never even showed any interest in finding or searching for a mate, just said he might have found his and it was one of the only people they were supposed to stay clear of.
He was worried and rightfully so, but he was also a little excited for his brother, especially because he can feel the hint of excitement coursing through the older man.
"Well," Jasper started. "At least now you have a valid argument if and when she tries to kill us."
John nervous expression quickly dropped into annoyance, of course his brother would turn one of the scariest things that could happen to him into a joke.
"Jasper," John reprimanded making said boy hold his hands up in defense.
"What I'm just saying, maybe this will be a good thing ya know, get out of jail free card kind of thing," Jasper said laughing slightly.
John rolled his eyes at him, "you've been hanging out with Emmett too much, he's starting to affect you."
"What that's not true, I could never hang out with Emmett too much," Jasper scoffed with a fake hurt look.
John huffed annoyed, "I'm serious Jaz, what do I do?"
The older man was regretting coming to his brother about this and not Carlisle, at least he would give him real advice instead of mockery.
"Look, I can't tell you what to do, but until we know more on these girls you'd best stay far away from them," Jasper stated being serious.
Present Time
John knew he should have taken Jaspers advice, but that's the thing about John his curious nature always gets the better of him.
Becca was quick to grab her salt gun she kept stowed away under her mattress, whatever was here she knew that was the one thing that could hurt it.
Becca wasn't known to be a stealthy person in her day to day life, but when it came to hunting she moved like no one was even there to begin with.
She tip toes her way across the room careful to avoid all the creaky floorboards until she met her bedroom door. The door was old meaning if she moved too slow it would creak but if she moved too fast she wouldn't have control to stop it hitting the wall.
Luckily for her though the sound of all the crickets in the backyard masked whatever small sound her door would make.
Once she successfully entered the hallway she noticed that her sister's door was closed meaning they would have entered through her window because she would have heard it otherwise.
John looked at the sleeping girl in awe the way the moonlight hit her skin made her look bewitching, he knows how dangerous it would be to get any closer so he chose to stand as close to the window as possible giving him a chance to escape if he was caught.
This being the first look he has he can't help but try to memorize every detail of her face, the way her nose was perfectly straight, and the way her lips had perfect little smile lines around them showing how often she found joy, all of these little details made him want to stare at her forever.
Until the door swung open.
Becca wasn't stupid she knew whatever was in her sister's room would bolt the second she opened her door, so she did the only thing she knew, she shot at the bastard.
John was quick to flee wanting to exit as fast as possible, he thought he'd get away seamlessly until he felt an excruciating sensation in the back of his leg making him stumble out the window.
Ronnie jolted awake at the sudden noise of a gun shot, she was peaceful sleeping have the best dream of her life when she was startled awake by her sister who was holding a salt gun aimed towards her window.
"What the hell Becca!" Ronnie exclaimed, Becca didn't answer instead running towards the window gun still raised with a crazed look in her eye.
When Becca peered down where she heard the person drop she was met with empty grass, whatever it was is long gone with a four inch hole in their leg.
Ronnie looked at her sister like she had lost her damn mind, which to Ronnie's defense that's what it seemed like.
"Seriously Becca, what happened?" Ronnie asked again. Becca looked at her sister finally lowering her gun with an annoyed look.
"I thought moving here would put a stop to us getting involved with danger," she huffed closing the window with a slam. She was frustrated, they are supposed to be on 'vacation' no one and especially nothing was supposed to know where they were, and here she was fighting off something.
"Right now the only danger is you to my sleep schedule," Ronnie groaned whilst rubbing her face. She could tell it was late and her not receiving any answers was pissing her off.
"I'm sorry," she said sarcastically. "I just shot a guy who was standing in your room watching you sleep, and you're more worried about your sleep schedule?"
Ronnie's eyes widened at that information, there was a man watching her sleep and she had no knowledge of it. She knew she was a heavy sleeper but the thought of sleeping so deep she had no instincts to defend herself was nerve racking.
"Someone was watching me sleep?" She asked with a slight edge in her voice.
Becca looked back at the window as she answered, "Yeah, and he was a fast mother fucker too, I almost missed him."
Ronnie's head was spinning with different ways this night could have ended if her sister hadn't shown up, she knew -well hoped- that if it got too far she could have become conscious enough to protect herself.
"You really need to lock your window," Becca stated locking it to prove her point. "Just because we're not actively hunting doesn't mean things aren't hunting us."
Ronnie nodded her head knowing she's right, she can't be careless especially with their line of work, she knows better so that fact that she did that means she's getting too comfortable, which means she was breaking rule number two of her survival guide.
Don't get comfortable.
"I know I'm sorry," Ronnie stated looking at her sister. Becca nodded her head before heading towards the door finally feeling tired again after all the commotion.
Ronnie called out to the girl one more time making her turn at the doorway, "Thank you."
"Don't thank me till we catch that son of a bitch, this town just got a whole lot more interesting."
With that last statement Becca finally exited the room heading for her bed that was practically screaming her name, this is a tomorrow problem she just hoped the thing was injured enough to flee this town for good.
John was in a lot of pain, he hasn't felt this feeling since he was turned. He knew it was bad with the way it felt like with every step he takes his leg cracks more and more feeling like it'll eventually shatter into a million pieces.
But he couldn't stop, not till he got to the comfort of his home, to the one man that can help him, the one man he desperately wanting to keep in the dark about the whole situation.
Carlisle. And boy was he in for it when he finds out.

"You did what!"
John had finally made it to the house the pain in his leg had him stumbling into Carlisle's office confusing the blonde.
After he had been dragged onto Carlisle's table he recited the whole thing starting with meeting Becca. To say Carlisle was pissed was an understatement.
The man didn't know what to say, his best friend finally found his mate who's one of the most dangerous people they can encounter, and instead of telling anyone or coming up with a reasonable course of action he decided to play stalker resulting in him almost getting his leg blown off.
"Look, I know this looks bad," John started instantly receiving a look of annoyance. "But what was I supposed to do Carlisle, I've found her after centuries of being alone, I mean you of all people understand."
Carlisle who had previously been examining his leg stopped and slowly looked at John. He knows the man was just excited but as one of the heads of their clan he has to realize what he did was wrong.
"John, you should have confided in us, you should have waited for a plan to deal with this, instead you went behind everyone's back and almost exposed us putting everyone in danger."
John looked down at his hands feeling like a child being scolded, in hindsight the man was physically only twenty-four, but mentally he should've know better.
"I'm sorry," John breathed out.
Carlisle sighed feeling slightly bad for reprimanding the man like he was one of the kids, "I'm sorry for getting upset."
"No, no, you had every right to, I was being selfish," John corrected. "I promise it won't happen again, now would you please fix this."
Carlisle looked back at the hole in the man's leg, thankfully with their fast healing it'll only take a day or two to fully recover, but until then the only thing he could do was wrap it to prevent more cracking.
Once John was on his way Carlisle sat in silence starting at the mess that was left on his table, the bandages and crystal residue that was left behind made him sigh.
He was officially the last one to find his mate, him being the oldest he was sure he'd find his first, but now with John and Edward both finding theirs he was the odd man out.
It was unfair, Carlisle was the epitome of a good man, he was sweet and gentle and the most caring man you'd ever meet, so why does the universe continue to torture him with loneliness.
But because he was such a caring man he chooses not to dwell on his short comings, instead he's pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind, instead beginning to think about the new additions they're about to get.
He hopes that they'll be beneficial for the family, if only he knew stressing him out would be the only thing they'll be beneficial towards.
