Nelly's P.O.V.

🍁

The room fell silent as Sana finished reading the letter.

A thousands thoughts ran through all our minds, each one of us planning the different lies that we could roll out of our tongue. It almost disgusted me that I could almost hear the ticking of our brains.

"I believe you would like to discuss this amongst yourselves." Annabelle interupted the silence. "So I'll just step out and give you a moment."

It took her quite a while to walk out, her short legs covering very little land with each step.

But it was worse when she had finally left. The awkwardness between our three bodies was defeaning and I wanted to run. I doubt it was anyone's dream to sit next to their ex-boyfriend and former best friend after a decade.

"I can't believe this." Leo spoke out first. "Nazia called us all here to trap us, I should have known. She simply wants us to take the blame."

"I don't think that's quite it." Sana said softly, her eyes boring onto the white paper of the letter.

"Oh, please, that b**** is still so stubborn. She just won't back down, not even after all these years." Leo snapped.

I let my head full turn towards him, looking at him properly. The years had changed his looks, he still had those chocolatey hair and cat green eyes, but those features are now perfected with a manly demeanour. Leo had aged handsomely.

But looking at him no longer made butterflies ripple in my stomach, those feelings had been long reserved for a certain Russian ballerina named Sophie.

One thing about him that hadn't changed, however, was his habit of never wanting to be blamed for the bad things. He always stamped the blame on someone else.

"Maybe we should tell her." I say.

"Are you crazy?" Leo demands. "Nelly, this is a trap. It's Nazia being her cunning self and she expects us to just play along to her games like before."

A part of me agrees with Leo, thinking back to all the evil and mistakes we did, it all did come down to Nazia Chow's command. But it feels like we all played a part and had to pay.

"I think she truly does need the help." Sana spoke again, this time she was looking at us. "If she had to get a therapist, then maybe there really is something wrong."

"Pfft, do you two hear yourselves?" Leo shook his head in bewilderment.

"Come on Leo, this is Nazia we are talking about. Sana's right, she never had any issues and problems, there was a higher chance of us having such a breakdown than her. Annabelle Shake does seem to generally want to help her, shouldn't we contribute?" I insisted.

"After all, it wasn't all her fault." Sana reflected those words I couldn't say.

There was soft knock from the door, causing all our three heads to turn. Annabelle stood there, with a pinboard and pen, liked she had just assumed our decision.

"May I come in?" she asked.

I nodded.

Annabelle took her seat across from us again, a professional smile plastered on her face. I wondered it they were taught to do this in university, give the patient a creepy smile and they'll tell you everything.

"I don't mean to put any pressure, but have you made a decision?"

"I'm willing to speak, if it means that much to Nazia." Sana announces.

"That's great, Miss Babushka and Mr Woody?"

We make eye contact and I know that if I give in, then Leo won't be able to pull out. He has too much ego for that.

"I want help Nazia, so it's a yes from me." I say.

"Yeah, me too." Leo gives in defeated.

"Okay, thank you all. This means so much to Miss Chow. But before we begin, I'd like you to ask you a few questions regarding your current situation, you know, just to get an idea of the different situations you're coming from." Annabelle keeps smiling.

She begins with me first, asking me questions about the farm and my girlfriend Sophie. A confession that makes Leo's jaw drop, but Sana seems unaffected.

I make sure to casually drop in how I won 'Farmer of The Year' twice in a row, just for good measure.

Then she interviews Sana, and I'm very unsurprised to find out she's married with a child. Not only because I'd noticed the ring on her finger when I sat next to her, but because amongst all of us, she was always the most likely to have a family.

Last but not least, Leo.

He's an growingly popular artist. His portraits and paintings are hung in places such as the National Gallery and Royal Art Museum.

We had all grown to do some amazing things, that had been expected, seeing our high targets and aspiration. But one person that didn't make the race of life, was Nazia. She had lost herself to the darkness of our evils.

But this maybe the push she needs to get her to run again, to savour the life she could still help. And if that meant thinking about the painful memories of Rachel Sparklight, then so be it.

"All right. Shall we begin?"

After looking at each other quickly for confirmation, all three of us nodded. Memories flashed backwards like a broken DVD, until that first day of.

"We'd come back from the holidays and it was the beggining of our final year..." Sana began for the story.

The story of our broken past and forgotten friendships.

The story of us and Rachel.
