False Positive Season 7 episode 6
"Hey Sarge, is here good for this stuff?" Jay asked Platt as she and Emma planted some plants. They were at the community garden Platt volunteered at, Emma wanted Jay to be around young kids so he could get used to them.
"Yeah, there's good." Jay threw down the bags of soil then came over to the two of them.
"How long you been volunteering here?" Jay asked Platt.
"Since it started, about six months or so. They used to build farm equipment here, they used to make things in Chicago." Platt said. "But all the plants closed and all those jobs-"
"And here we are." Jay said, he looked around at all the kids. "It's great for them though, right?"
"Yeah, man you wouldn't believe what we found when we were clearing this out. Needles, all that. No wonder the city gave it to us for free. But you know safe space, place for kids to learn to grow things from the ground. It's a big deal." Jay went to reach for a tomato growing on a plant. "Hey, hey, hey, hey. That's ready when I say it's ready."
"Copy that." Jay said, he looked at Emma who was now helping some little boy a few feet away plant a flower. He was giggling as she tickled him, Jay smiled at her.
"She's amazing isn't she." Jay said out loud.
"She is." Platt said turing from Emma to Jay, she pointed a finger at Jay. "You break her heart I'll kill you." Jay put his hands up.
"She's growing a human inside her, our human." Jay gushed, Platt smiled at Jay who was just staring at Emma.
"I know how babies are made Jay. Now come on I need your helping spreading this menuor."
"Aw Crap."
"Turkey crap to be exact." Jay's radio went off.
"Units city wide, we've got multiple reports of shots fired city wide 400 huntington ave."
"That's four blocks away." Platt told Jay.
"Thanks." He looked at Emma then back at Platt but she waved her hand.
"Go, I'll cover." Platt told Jay, he thanked her and ran off. Emma came running over and Platt grabbed her hand.
"What-where-"
"Shots fired, he wants you to stay here. Keep yourselves safe." Platt said looking at Emma's belly, Emma put a protective hand over her belly.
"Okay, thanks sarge."
"No problem."

The unit stood outside of the crime scene where Jay had found two young boys along with a guy murdered in a house, the mother screaming about her child.
"It looks like a dope hit gone wrong." Jay sighed sticking his hands in his pockets. "Kids weren't supposed to be inside. The offender kicked in the door and kids where there by mistake." Jay said.
"Covered his tracks."
"Yeah, in the living room I found two local kids. David Tatem and Aaron Powell. Both shot in the head. All shot at close range, third kid made it, he's uninjured."
"There taking him to med." Rojas said, Emma discretely slipped her hand into Jay's and gave it a tight squeeze, he just looked over at her then back at the group.
"Did he see anything?" Voight asked.
"He was going to the bathroom, he was in there the whole time. That's what saved him, that's where I found him. Talked to patrol he said he didn't see anything only heard shots fiering. Guy guarding the door was ID as Rayford Godfrey, he's a hustler footsoldier, I think he died immediately. Guys on the corner said Ray was soft for the kids, he probably let them in to play video games."
"Those the bangers you talked to?" Voight asked nodding at a couple of guys on the other block.
"Yeah, West Side Hustlers. This is there joint. Stash houses, flop houses, you know the drill. Shot callers around the block, his names Kariem, he's willing to talk to us."
"We are running point on this. Neighbors, footprints, barking dogs, the means, the ends, we run it all down. All right POD's shot spotters?"
"Not on the block." Kim said.
"We'll expand the perimeter." Kevin said.
"These people want answers so let's give it to them." Voight said. "Come on Jay." The group split up and Emma started walking with Jay and Voight until Voight whipped around in one of the allys.
"What do you think your doing?"
"Coming with you." Emma said.
"No, no way. this is too dangerous. Please just get back to the unit babe, please." Jay begged, he was on the verge of tears Emma just nodded.
"Alright, you good?" Emma asked knowing it was a stupid question.
"I'll be better when we get this guy." Jay said, Emma kissed him on the cheek and headed back towards the group.

"All right, here's what we got!" Hank's voice rang through the bullpen as he and Jay came through the back. "Crystal Ketamine. 400 grams packed up in jabs, two handguns, a semi automatic rifle, roughly 23 hundred dollars."
"Small bills, sorted in bundles." Jay said.
"They have any idea who did it?" Adam asked.
"No, not yet. So let's look at rivels, enemies, potential anniversary hits, all of that."
"We're on it." Adam said, Kim charged over with a photo in her hand.
"What about this guy?" She asked.
"That's the closest photo we've got. It's from an ally about two blocks away and it was taken about a minute after 911 got the first call of shots fired. "Kevin said.
"Looks like he's running north towards Homan Square." Kim said, Jay pointed at the photo.
"Facial rec?"
"Nothing."
"That's not nothing, Kareem said the guy lifted a green style army bag, that's what all the stuff was being hidden in."
"Alright start canvassing, Lawndale, Homan Square, all the way up to Lincoln park if need be. Just get it done." Hank said as the new Commander came up the stairs.

The unit, after the commander basically forced them to use a new, off the books, probably bad, facial rec system, pulled up to the home of Marcus Jerome west. After an intense police chase, Jay jumping out the window like a spidermonkey, and Emma almost doing the same, the apprehended him and had Marcus in the interrogation room.
"Look at him Marcus, Look at him." Jay said holding up a picture of one of the boys, Marcus wouldn't look.
"I don't got a clue what your talking about man."
"Right, Right, Right."
"More importantly, neither do you." Marcus said, Emma was watching from the other side. Angry Jay was sexy as hell, but he needed to get his head on straight. Jay's face was struck with anger and Emma wasn't sure Marcus did this. Jay pulled up a chair near Marcus.
"So you didn't kill those kids." He said getting out the picture of Marcus with the duffle bag. "But you where two blocks away sixty seconds after it happened? Your carrying a bag of drugs, guns, and cash, and your running home?"
"That's aint' me man." Marcus said.
"Where'd you stash the bag?"
"I'm telling you man that aint' me!" Marcus screamed.
"No what your telling me is you don't know what you were doing when this went down!" Jay screamed back. "Who you where with, where you were. So if your consensus is clear, why'd you run?" Jay asked.
"Why'd I run?"
"Yeah."
"From the cops." Marcus started laughing and Jay looked like he was going to slam his head through the wall. "Man, until you said that I thought we was vibin' man. Felt like you could really relate to my life. Poor black man in Chicago and all."
"Don't go there with me." Jay warned.
"Like you would understand? Like you would know? Poor black man in Chicago, cops bust your door. You run, weather you did something or not." Marcus said. "You run until one of three things happens, You get caught, you get away, or you dead. This train right here, is always on time. You call it running, I call it self defense." Marcus said, before Jay could do anything else Emma opened the door and collected all the photos.
"Come on." She said sternly, Jay got up without anthor word and Emma dragged him into the locker room shutting the door. "Baby, Baby look at me." Emma said, Jay had collapsed on one of the benches. She stood in between his legs and ran her fingers through the back of his hair, Emma looked up at him with glassy eyes. "I know this is hard but you gotta keep your head on, we'll get justice I promise just please, please, don't do anything rash. Not right not." Jay put his head on Emma's stomach and held her waist.
"Okay." He whispered getting up and wrapped her in a tight hug. "I'm going to go with Kevin back to the neighborhood hood and ask some more questions." Jay said kissing her on the head.
"I love you."
"I love you too."

Emma was sitting in Voights office when the door outside the bullpen opened, Jay came in huffing.
"We've got 31 hours left to charge this guy or he walks." Hank told Voight.
"That can't happen."
"No kidding. I stuck my neck out on this thing and we don't even have a case." Hank said, Emma but her lip and got up from the couch appearing from behind Voight.
"We know this is the guy 100%. Just let me go in, I'll break him." Jay suggested.
"Okay, get it done." Voight said shutting the door, Emma scoffed.
"Um... Excuse me."
"Your excused." Voight said sitting back down, Emma shook her head.
"Just because your dirty doesn't mean Jay should be." Voight looked at Emma codly.
"Watch your mouth."
"What are you going to do? Fire me?" Emma asked, Voight stood up and crossed his arms. "I won't let you pollute him."
"Listen to me, I won't pollute him but you gotta have some faith in me." Voight said, Emma just nodded.
"Okay, I just don't need him doing anything rash. Remember a year or two ago, with that soldier guy, then the little girl, then his dad-"
"He's been through a lot, but it'll all work out in the end." Voight ausserd her, Emma took a deep breath and hoped he was right.

Jay had sent Marcus to jail in order to break him, Emma was not at all sure it was Marcus and that Jay was in way over his head. He just wanted a verdict, and so did she, but not on an innocent man. The unit gathered in the bullpen later that evening.
"We've got 11 hours left to make our case against Marcus West." Voight said emerging from his office. "We've got him sweating in county now, but all we've got is that photo from the ally near the house, which the state's attorney is going to toss because the system we used to get it isn't even on the books yet." Voight said.
"I'm telling you, that system is shit! It's going to cause issues or something." Emma said to Voight, Voight ignored her.
"So where are we?" Voight asked.
"We're going to keep digging boss." Adam said, Voight turned towards Emma.
"DNA?"
"Volumes overwhelming. Whole block has been in that house for sure. Nothing putting West inside the house, at all. Hey, maybe the Commander has a shitty off the books system for DNA." Voight glared at her. "I'm on it." Emma said rolling her eyes.
"Pregnancy has made you extra sarcastic." Voight said.
"Wonderful isn't it." Emma smirked.
"Have we tossed his apartment yet?"
"Top to bottom." Kim said.
"No cash, no drugs, no dice." Kevin said.
"We'll find it." Kim said.
"Let's do what we do, motive, fingerprints, our usual." Trudy came up the stairs.
"Hank, we've got a problem. Marcus West was attacked in county." Jay stood up.
'''''''''
"He was stabbed seven times." A doctor told Emma and Jay as she led them through Critical care. "That's not the most pressing issue. Head injuries are so severe we had to induce a coma, shut down brain function."
"Only way to minimize the swelling." Emma finished, her and Jay walked into Marcus's room, he was hooked up to a machine, almost life less.
"He going to make it?" Jay asked.
"I think so." The doctor said.
"Got what he deserved though." The doctor said.
"Do everything you can for him." Jay told her.
'''''''''
"Sarge, Marcus west is in really bad shape." Jay said as he and Emma walked into Voight's office.
"Anything from county?"
"Adam is inside doing interviews. Nobody's talking. Sarge, did I-" Jay stumbled.
"Did you what?" Voight asked.
"I just wanted to make the case so damn bad, did I go to far?" Jay asked, Emma rubbed his back.
"We've got two dead kids, a city that needs answers. We're on the clock and dying on the vine."
"That's why I jammed him up." Jay said, his eyes glassy, he turned to leave.
"Hey." Voight said putting his hand on Jay's shoulder. "Your a great cop with a good heart. It was the right play, right now we gotta make a case against Marcus West before he wakes up and it's got to be airtight." Voight said, Emma and Jay nodded.

Later after learning that one of the G park lords had actually killed the kids and Marcus West had died an innocent man, the unit headed home. The program they had used had been described as "the darker your skin is, the worse it gets." Emma was absolutely infatuated and couldn't take it. Marcus West died with everyone thinking he did it, when in the end he didn't. That night, Emma was sitting on the bed when she heard the door open and Jay come in, she kept her eyes closed. Jay sighed and got down beside her, he looked up at Emma but then back at her belly.
"I don't know if you can hear me or not yet, but I didn't know it was possible to want to love and protect something so much already. Your mom is such an amazing women, and I love her so much. I'm going to tell you a secret, I talked to her Grandfather and Voight and asked their permission for her to marry me, her grandpa gave me a ring. I had a long and hard day but just know I love you so much." Jay said Emma opened her eyes.
"So what's the ring look like." jay jumped up and clutched his chest.
"You can't do that to people."
"How big is the diamond?"
"Emma-"
"I'll never stop know that I know you have it-" Emma was stopped by Jay smashing his lips against hers. She quickly removed his shirt. "Okay, I can stop for a little while."
"I would hope so." Jay smirked attaching his kips to her neck, she fell back onto the bed.
