Chapter Eight
Chapter Eight
Sometimes I seriously thought that I was magic. From the way I could make every head turn and do a double take of me (assuming I looked presentable and/or did something loud and slightly embarrassing to gain the attention, of course), to right now as I said three small worlds, and muteness washed over the people around me. If it wasn’t magic, then it was some super power or something. Man, was I incredible!
“You two… are going out?” Logan was the first to speak.
“Isn’t that what I just said?” I asked, as if it wasn’t a big deal, because, honestly, it really wasn’t that big of a deal.
Mia’s POV
That whorebag! She was such a little slut! First, she crashed our party, and then she brought a boy who claimed to be her boyfriend, all while having every other boy on the freaking planet drooling over her? She just wanted attention! That was it! Logan looked like a sad puppy when the word ‘boyfriend’ fell out of her mouth. Well, Logan, hate to inform you, but Julia Tylers will NEVER go out with you. She was Julia Freaking Tylers, for F-ing out loud!
When we were in seventh grade, I heard she hooked up with at least ten freshmen, if not more, and one sophomore! This girl was, and always would be a slut. One of the worst parts was that she wasn’t even that pretty! Even when she was supposedly “going out” with Mason, she was obviously cheating on him! Besides, Mason would never really date anyone as repulsive as her. Oh, and her whole story about being a virgin? Seriously? Did she really think we were that dumb?
The boy who she came with was pretty hot, I’d give him that, but that was just another reason Julia didn’t deserve him! She needed someone as hideous on the outside as she was on the inside—not this blonde Californian Ken look alike! Ugh! It just wasn’t fair!
“You know what, I think that’s great!” I said, adding a hint of undetectable sarcasm to my voice. From the corner of my eye I saw the edge of Julia’s mouth turn into a half smile, as she raised her brow, doubtful of my comment. I’d give her some credit, being able to distinguish subtle nods of sarcasm was definitely a good trait to have.
“Let’s get back to the game!” Kim suggested. Kim seriously needed to shut up. Since when were she and Logan that close? Like, actually? She had better just be joking around. I practically wanted to strangle her the minute she sat on his lap. Sure I loved Kim and all, but it was so infuriating to have her all over Logan!
“Yeah, so, um, how about Logan!” Izzy said, nudging me at the mention of his name.
“What? Sure,” he said, brushing his bangs off his forehead. It was one of his habits that I just found too adorable.
“Okay, who would you fuck?” Chase asked. Oh, and there there was the whole issue of Chase. What was up with him? Lately, he had actually been talking to us, and all because of that bitch—Julia. I was happy with our small group of five, but, no, Izzy had to let Julia in and ruin everything. I loved Izzy, but sometimes she didn’t have the best judgment.
“Tiffany Banters,” Logan said with a smirk. Really, Logan? She was a junior. Another slut, but at least she was pretty, nice, and acknowledged the fact that she was a slut.
“Kill?” Owen asked.
“Katrina Selby,” he said, surprisingly calmly. Katrina. Wow. We hadn’t talked about her in while. Logan always lost his calm exposition, and got nervous when we brought her up. They were dating for, like, six months, and then Logan found out she was cheating on him. Seeing them together every day felt like my heart was being mashed into a million pieces, but I knew that eventually their relationship would end, and then the two of us would have a chance. Honestly, who would ever want to break Logan’s heart? He was such a sweet guy …most of the time.
“Katrina Selby? She went to rehab or something, right?” Julia said, as I rolled my eyes.
“She should have,” Logan grumbled.
“What’d she do?” Julia asked cluelessly. Geez! Didn’t she know when to let something go? Charlotte whispered something to her, as a look of understanding passed on her face. I couldn’t listen to Logan’s next answer, so I got up from the chair that Izzy and I were sharing, and walked out of the room upstairs to Kim’s room, not looking back.
“I’ll go get her,” I heard Izzy tell everyone.
“Iz, leave me alone,” I said once she came into the room.
“Mia, you know I can’t do that. What’s up with you lately? Is this all about Logan?” Izzy was my best friend, and the only one that knew anything about my crush on Logan.
“Kind of,” I admitted.
“Aw, Mia! You know the only reason you two aren’t together yet is because he’s still shaken up about the whole Katrina thing! He’s scared to get involved with such the ferociously awesome girl like you!” It wasn’t true, but at least she was trying to cheer me up. Logan had gone out with a ton of girls since he broke up with Katrina; maybe he still hadn’t gotten over it on the inside, but on the outside, he sure as hell looked fine to me.
“No Iz, he wants Julia, that’s why he won’t go out with me,” I looked down dejectedly.
“Jules is dating someone, meaning she’s unavailable, which means she can’t date Logan; but someone like you totally can!”
“Thanks, Iz.”
“Anytime.”
Josh’s POV
I forced myself to laugh along as one of the girls—I was almost positive that her name was Kim—gave her answers for the stupid game I was trapped playing.
“Jules,” I whispered.
“Sh… I know what you’re thinking, babe. Yes, this a dumb game, I’ll get us out of here in a few minutes,” she said softly. That was one of the reasons why I loved Jules—she always knew what was going through my head. She knew how to read my behavior, and sometimes I actually did think that she could read my mind.
“Thank you,” I said, kissing the back of her neck.
“But, Josh, remember I want these people to be friends,” she told me.
“I know.”
“Okay, good.”
“Okay, Chase, your turn,” a boy said—Logan, probably.
“Wait, wait, wait! Not without us!” a girl said, coming down the stairs, followed by another girl who I didn’t really like. She had been giving Jules hateful glances all night. She was a bitch, for all I cared.
“Babe,” I whispered again.
“Yeah?”
“Why doesn’t the blonde like you?”
“Because she’s jealous that I’ll take over, or that I’ll completely humiliate them. Also, she’s jealous that Logan will actually talk to me. She’s not exactly a ray of sunshine,” Jules snorted.
“I figured,” I muttered.
“So, Chase, who would you fuck?” the blonde girl asked.
“Jules,” he said. I stiffened. I hated this kid. Jules was my girlfriend, and no other guys should have even been thinking about her, for all I was concerned. She had told me countless times that I got overly protective, and she was right. I just wanted to be the only guy in her life.
“See, now, I understand this is only a game, but the only way you would even come close to fucking me, is if you’re planning on raping me. And if you raped me, I can promise you I’ll be the one going to jail, because I will kill you,” Jules said, laying her head back on my chest. Only Jules would be able to say something like that and have everyone in the room pretty much shocked. Half the things that came out of her mouth I expected. In Jules’ world, a killer comeback was just like having a regular conversation—it was normal.
“Thanks for the warning, I’ll take that into consideration,” he winked at her.
“Okay, can we please go now?” I begged.
“Yeah, just let me pretend to get a text from someone. I told Adam to pick us up around now anyways, so he said either Talia or he should be outside,” she said.
“So, can we go?”
“Just hold on, babe!” she laughed at my expense.
“And I’d probably marry… Taylor Kennings,” Chase said, smirking at Jules. So, apparently, the game hadn’t ended yet.
“You would marry that lying, skanky, slutty-ass bitch, but you wouldn’t fuck her?” Jules questioned, standing up, and extending her arm for me to take. I couldn’t pass up a perfect opportunity, so I took her hand, and dragged her back down on top of me.
“Jerk,” she laughed, trying to get off of me. I put my arm around her waist. I wasn’t letting she go that easily.
“Uh, yeah?” Chase blinked.
“Why?” Jules asked.
“Because, as you just stated, she’s a lying, skanky, slutty bitch, who probably has herpes or an STD by now,” he said, as Jules let out a laugh.
“Well, I mean, you’re probably right, Taylor probably does have an STD by now, but there’s always that slim chance that she’s still virgin,” Jules said.
“Taylor Kennings is a lot of things, but a virgin is not one of them,” the blonde girl sneered.
“She was one of your—” I started.
“Yeah, she was my best friend. Remember that word—was,” Jules murmured quietly.
“That’s just gross!” the very innocent girl, whose name was, like, Charlie or something, and was sitting next to us said.
“What? Having sex?” Logan asked.
“Yeah,” the girl said.
“Okay! We have to go. I’ll talk to you guys later! Josh’s here for the next week, so you may or may not see him again!” Jules said, escaping my grip, and standing up triumphantly.
“Okay! See ya!” Kim said, hugging Jules, who reluctantly accepted the friendly gesture. Another thing to love about Jules: how appalled she appeared towards acts of affection, when, secretly, they made her happy.
Jules’ POV
“Okay, Kim, you can let go now,” I said to her, as she squeezed me.
“Oh, sorry!” Kim apologized.
“Bye, Jules!” Izzy said.
“Bye, Iz!” I returned.
“B—” Owen started.
“Okay, I’m just going to stop you right there, goodbye everyone, we don’t have time to repeat it a zillion times. Love ya. Josh, let’s go.” I took his hand, waved to everyone, and we made our way outside to the car waiting for us.
“Thank you,” Josh breathed.
“I was dying in there too,” I said.
“Good.”
“Get in, losers,” Adam said out the window. My stomach ached knowing he would be the one to take us to our next destination. But, on the bright side, at least Josh had to suffer too!
