SYNOPSIS !

LEON NICKELSON was North Denver's golden boy. He was beloved by everyone and he was capable of no wrong. All of his movements were rhythmic and eloquent, like a butterfly landing on a flower, and it drew people to him. To others, his voice sounded like the texture of satin.

To top off the package, Leon Nickelson came from wealth, too. Leon was made familiar with first-class flights, fancy dinners, and fast cars at a young age. He was taught to speak with manners, sit with his elbows off the table, and always smile and hold eye contact when he was even younger.

He attended a fancy private school that was perched on a hill and filled with people from higher status economic backgrounds. Leon lived a dream life.

VANCE HOPPER never had an easy life. An alcoholic father and a mother who either didn't care enough or cared too much, are never a good mix. From an early age, his life had been nothing but beatings and screaming fests. It was something he came to see as normal.

By the time Vance was eight years old, his home life had begun to manifest in places outside of home. Like at school, where he would be continuously sent home for getting violent with other students and sometimes even teachers if they annoyed him enough.

Vance had a reputation before he was ten. One that he had no intentions of giving up. He would get into unnecessary fights over things as minuscule as a game of pinball, thus landing him with the nickname 'Pinball Vance.' It was an odd name, but it was one that all of the kids around town knew. Along with the infamous name of his came his territory—the Grab n' Go. Whenever he stepped foot inside of the Grab n' Go, it fell silent; kids knew to avoid the pinball machine, and to be very careful if they ever walked past it. That pinball machine got Vance into a lot of fights, and sometimes it even got him placed in the back of a cop car.

Many years and nearly a dozen CPS visits later and nothing changed. Vance was still in his parents' custody and they were free to do with him as they pleased.

To Vance, it seemed like things were destined to stay the same, like he was doomed to be seen as the monster he made himself into. Like he was to be a moon for all eternity. But somehow, as if God had felt enough pity for him, he was granted a Sun.
