How We Met

I wake up to the sound of the radio downstairs. I roll over and pull the covers over my head to block out the sun; then something feels off...

I throw off the covers and run to the bathroom connected to the master bedroom. I flip up the toilet seat and hurl. Since there's nothing in my stomach, there is a lot of dry heaving until the tiny remains of my dinner come up.

A few seconds later I hear Rhys running up the stairs. By the time he gets to the bathroom, though, I've finished puking.

"Are you OK, love?" He asks.

"I'm fine," I wave him away, "Just morning sickness. What's for breakfast?"

After breakfast, Rhys says we need to get some stuff from the store. I change out of my pajamas and grab my bag and jacket. Rhys makes sure I'm fine once more before we leave.

"I'm fine, honey," I kiss him on the cheek and we drive to the store.

I almost fall asleep in the car but we get there before I do. When I get out of the car I hear a child screaming a few cars down. "Can't wait for that," Rhys says sarcastically.

"No," I say, "our kids won't do that 'cause we will teach them respect and manners," I shoot a wide grin in Rhys's direction.

He shakes his head and we go into the store.

"Excuse me," comes a kid's voice from behind us. We turn around to see a young boy about 12 years and a little girl about 6 years old clinging to his side. The boy's eyes light up when he sees Rhys, "Are you Razzbowski?" he asks excitedly.

"Yes, I am," Rhys instantly changes his voice so he sounds more like he does on YouTube, overly excited and bouncy. I love seeing him like this.

"Oh wow!" the boy exclaims, "you're one of my favorite YouTubers, this is awesome! Can I get a picture with you?!"

"Sure," the boy pulls out his phone and Rhys poses with him.

"Kyle?" a woman's voice calls out.

"Coming, Mom," the boy runs off with the little girl, presumably his little sister, in tow. He shouts back at us, "It was great meeting you!"

Rhys waves and laughs as the kids vanish into a knot of people. I giggle too and take Rhys's hand. The kid reminds me of myself when I first met Rhys...

At the checkout line, the cashier notices my engagement ring "Oh how sweet," she says, "How did you two meet?"

I look at Rhys and remember back to four years ago.

I checked the mirror one more time and straightened my hat. I was dressed as Yandere~Chan for Comic Con. I had the classic schoolgirl uniform, only splattered with fake blood, with a tiny plush Senpai sitting on my shoulder and a plastic bloody knife in my belt. My hat was just a normal dark blue baseball cap with a foot tall plush squid attached to the top. I pulled my ponytail through the back of the cap and tugged on my bangs. I completed the ensemble with red contact lenses to make my eyes blood red.

I grabbed my wallet off the hotel bed and went down to Comic Con. Since this place was so close, a lot of people going to Comic Con stayed here and it was normal to see people walking around in cosplay. I passed a Deadpool, a Wolverine, and a Misty from Pokemon. I rode the elevator with an Elsa, Anna, Princess Zelda, and Spock. Down in the lobby, the entire cast of Mortal Kombat stood talking with each other.

Traffic on the highway was heavy with convention goers. Han Solo honked and waved as he passed me and I waved back.

When I finally got to the convention, anyone and everyone was crawling the building. Razz gave me a list of where he and the Ryans planned to visit. I found them at the Nintendo panel. All of them were dressed as Five Nights at Freddy's characters, with Razz painted as the Purple Guy, Ryan as Golden Freddy, and Other Ryan as Balloon Boy.

"Hey!" Razz waved me over once he noticed me. "I love your outfit!"

"Thanks," I said, "I wish I could have brought Mr. Turtle, but he's at home."

"Mr. Turtle?" Razz sounded shocked, "So that's where that old pervert went! He left me for some pretty girl, how typical of him!"

I laughed and blushed at the compliment, "Your guys' outfits are pretty cool," I said to get the attention off me.

"I wanted to be the Puppet," Ryan said, "but they were all out of black body suits."

"Well you still look good as Golden Freddy," I said.

"Thanks!"

"We were about to go get some coffee," Razz said, "Wanna join us?"

"Sure."

At the coffee house, Razz bought me a mocha latte. When he handed it to me, I noticed something dark on the napkin he also handed me. I set my latte down on the table to inspect the napkin

555-7890 Rhys Williams (Razzbowski)

I blushed and smiled uncontrollably for the rest of the day.

>Three Years Later<

Rhys and I were walking in the park near our house, I had moved in about a year and a half ago.

It was getting kind of late but Rhys wanted to keep walking.

"I have something to show you," he said.

I had already guessed what it was he wanted since I went jogging in this park every morning and knew every stone and blade of grass on this path, but I played dumb for Rhys's sake.

We reached a tiny white gazebo just as the sun was setting. It was covered in tiny twinkling lights that spread out to the surrounding trees and greenery.

I raised my hands to my mouth as Rhys led me into the gazebo and got down on one knee. He pulled a small black velvet box out of his jacket pocket.

"Lanie St.Martin," tears welled up in the corners of his eyes as he looked up at me. There was so much love and passion in those bright green eyes. "I love you so much and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you by my side, so... Will you marry me?"

"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" I felt tears pouring out of my own eyes and a small laugh escaped my lips.

Rhys's eyes lit up. Once he put the ring on my finger he stood up and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.

"We met at a convention," I said to the cashier.

She nodded and got a knowing look on her face, "Ah, young love, how cute."
