Chapter 2: Fear

Olivia sat on her bed, staring straight ahead, tears in her eyes. She and Hope had never gotten in a fight like that before. She sighed and finally let the tears fall. Hinkle was ruining everything. There was a knock at the door. "Kid, you okay? Can I come in?"

It was Tobin. Olivia quickly wiped her eyes and sniffled. "Yeah, come in."

Tobin opened the door and sat next to Olivia on her bed. "Were you crying?"

Olivia sighed and nodded. Tobin gave her a hug. "Don't cry squirt," she said gently. "Alex wants you, she really isn't feeling well."

Olivia sighed and walked with Tobin back to Alex's room, since Olivia and Hope were the only ones sharing. Alex was sitting up in her bed, her head leaned back and eyes closed tightly in pain. Tobin shook her arm slightly. "Hey, the kid's here to see you."

Alex smiled as she saw Olivia. "Hey girlie," she said softly.

Tobin left the room. "How're you feeling?" Alex asked.

"I'm fine, how about you?"

"Awful."

Olivia gave her a small smile. "I'm sorry, do you need anything?"

"Nah, I'm just lonely."

Olivia chuckled slightly. She gave Alex a hug, before hearing her name called downstairs. Alex sighed and let go of her younger friend. Olivia ran downstairs and found Jill, Jaelene, and Hope in the lounge. She stopped near the bottom when she heard Hope talking.

"Jill I swear she's a good kid."

"That psycho jumped on me."

"Hope we can't have her making a ruckus like this."

"Jill I promise she's under control."

Olivia finally came to the bottom of the stairs. "You called?" she asked Hope, fear in her eyes.

Tobin walked up to Olivia and put her arm around her shoulders. "How's Alex?"

"Sick."

Tobin sighed and the two of them walked into the lounge. "What's up?" Tobin asked.

"We needed to talk to Olivia," Jill said. "Tobin please leave."

"No," Olivia spoke up, grabbing Tobin's arm. "Please don't, whatever you have to say to me, she can hear."

Jill sighed and motioned for her to sit on the couch. She rested her head on Tobin's shoulder. "So Jaelene was telling me about how you attacked her."

Olivia sighed. "Yes, I know what I did was wrong but i-"

She cut herself off when she heard retching coming from upstairs. She rushed up them and found Alex on the floor in the bathroom. She rubbed her back, thankful that her hair was already in a ponytail.

As soon as Alex finished Olivia got up and wet a washcloth. She wiped her face from all of the sweat than got another one to wipe her mouth. "Al, you think you can get back to bed?"

"N-no."

Olivia sighed and gave her a sympathetic smile. She scooped her up into her arms. "Come on Alex," she said gently. "I've got you."

She brought Alex back to bed and put a trashcan next to it. She pressed a hand to her forehead. "Alex you're burning up."

"Olivia it hurts."

"I know."

Alex began to whimper. Olivia scooped her up and rocked her gently. "Alex, shh, don't worry."

Alex cried on her shirt. Little did they know that Jill, Hope, and Jaelene were standing outside the door. "I think I'm done here," Jill said. "She's a good kid, keep her under control Hope."

Hope nodded as Jill left. Jaelene gave Hope a death glare and left as well. Hope opened the door quietly. Alex was asleep in Olivia's arms. "Hey kiddo," Hope said quietly, rubbing her back. "How is she?"

"Awful, Hope I think something's really wrong."

"We'll have Tobin take her to the doctor if she isn't feeling better tomorrow, you gotta come to bed, come on."

Olivia sighed and gave Alex one last hug. "Goodnight Al," she said quietly. "Feel better."

Hope wrapped an arm around Olivia and took her back to their room. Olivia fell asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.

...

The next morning Olivia woke up and Hope was gone. She looked at her phone and it was almost noon. She couldn't believe Hope let her sleep so late.

She got up and stretched and got dressed. She went downstairs to see Hope curled up on the couch and leaning on Carli's side, while Tobin was on the side of the couch by herself. "What's up?" Olivia asked as she got to the couch.

Tobin sighed and wiped her eyes. Olivia sat next to her and she leaned on her side. "Al's in the ER," she cried. "This is my fault. I should've known something was wrong and sent her sooner."

"Tobin, calm down," Olivia said gently. "This isn't your fault."

Tobin just cried on Olivia. Olivia let her tears fall until Dawn knocked on the door. She opened it slightly, realized it was her, and opened it fully. "Hey, we just got some results on Alex, you guys wanna come?"

Tobin nodded slightly and the four piled into Dawn's car. Tobin rested her head on Olivia. "It's gonna be okay," she whispered as Tobin grabbed her hand.

They reached the hospital in record time. When they got there, Hope and Tobin traded places, Tobin on Carli and Hope with her arm around Olivia. Jill was already in the waiting room.

"Hey," she said as they approached. "They said it should only be about ten more minutes."

Dawn nodded and motioned for the girls to sit down. None of them could, they were pacing back and forth in the halls, until Hope finally put her hands up. "We need to calm down," she said. "We're going crazy, and Alex doesn't want to see us crazy."

The other three nodded in agreement. They sat down, Hope's arm around Olivia's shoulder. Olivia leaned into her side, crying. She managed to calm her down a bit, before hearing it.

"Family and friends of Alexandra Morgan?"

They all got up and followed the nurse. She led them to a room right outside of Alex's. They could see her through a window. She looked unconscious and she had on a breathing mask. The doctor came out of Alex's room and sighed. "Please, sit," he said.

The group all sat down, Olivia on the edge of her seat, terrified. Hope had a hand on her bouncing knee. Tobin had her head in her hands.

"I'm sorry to announce but Alex Morgan is suffering from stomach cancer."
