Epilogue

Two years later:

"Sweetie, don't do that." I pulled Darcy away from putting her stuffed unicorn in the toilet.

She giggled and tried to do it again. I groaned and picked her up. "Wait till your father hears about this young lady."

Shawn had his performance in Toronto tonight and I was getting Darcy and myself ready in our shared apartment. We officially moved in together last year after he leased the place. It had a breathtaking view of the city.

I hadn't seen Shawn in a month and I missed him terribly. He'd left for the North American leg of his Shawn Mendes The Tour world tour back in June with our good friend, Alessia. He was gone up until Darcy's second birthday and had left after her party.

This was going to be Darcy's official first concert. I had her all decked out in Shawn's merch. She had no idea what was going on except that daddy was going to be singing for her tonight.

After finishing putting on my lipstick in the bathroom mirror, I carried my daughter out and over to the sofa. She sat there and played with her unicorn while I shoved our stuff into my diaper bag. She wasn't potty trained yet, having just recently turned 2, but I planned to start working with her within the next 6 months or so.

Glancing at the clock, I realized we had to get moving if we were to miss all the traffic. I called for Darcy and she came waddling over to me with a big smile on her face.

"Mommy, we see Daddy?" She cooed.

"Yes baby, we're going to go see Daddy right now." I reached out my hand and she took it.

"Yay!! I happy!"

"Me too kiddo." Me too.

We walked out to my car and I strapped her into her car seat. The Rogers Centre wasn't extremely far from where Shawn and I lived which was really nice.

The arena loomed into view and for some reason, I started getting butterflies in my stomach.

"See that big building Darcy? Daddy is in there."

She nodded her head and looked out the window.

I could see the fans lining up outside. It was only 15 minutes before the doors opened. A security guard was standing by the back entrance and I handed him my ID and all access pass. He let us through and I parked my car next to the buses.

Darcy clapped her hands and giggled. "Daddy Daddy Daddy!!"

I unbuckled her and carried her to the door. Jake gave me a big hug and waved at an intimidated Darcy. She hid her face in my neck and I chuckled.

"Shawn will be in his dressing room."

"Thank you Jake." I smiled and carried Darcy inside.

Not much had changed since the last time I was here, which was a few weeks after Darcy was born.

Vivian came charging towards me with arms outstretched. "You're here!!!"

"Hi Viv! I missed you!" I put my daughter down and we embraced.

"How've you been?" She bent down, "And how has my little god-daughter been?"

Darcy smiled shyly and hid behind me. I took her hand and Vivian chatted while we walked to where Shawn was. The second our voices got within earshot of him, the dressing room door practically flew off its hinges and he came sprinting towards us.

I squealed and pointed at him, "Look baby, it's daddy!"

He picked Darcy up and spun her around. "I missed you baby girl."

She giggled and kissed his cheek. "Daddy!!"

Tears filled my eyes as I hugged Shawn. "I love you babe."

"I love you too." He kissed me deeply. I didn't realize how much missed the feeling of his lips on mine.

We spent the rest of the time before his set catching up on various life things. Darcy wanted to tell Shawn all of the new words she learned since she saw him a month ago.

Vivian came in to let Shawn know he had five minutes. We all walked out of the room and over to where he was going to come up out of the stage.

He got into position and gave me and Darcy a kiss. We had about a 90 seconds to get to our seats next to the stage before the show started.

Once we got all situated, I put Darcy's headphones on to quiet the loud noise, and began to talk her through what was going on. The lights dimmed, cutting me off mid sentence and the crowd went wild.

I had missed feeling the excitement of the fans. This was going to be such a cool experience. Shawn never ceases to amaze me with all the energy he brings.

The show started and after the Lost in Japan intro, Shawn rose up out of his place under the stage. Darcy clapped her hands when she realized who it was. She sat there on my hip, in awe of the spectacle before her eyes.

After the finished, Shawn waved and welcomed the audience. "Now, there are two very special people in the arena tonight. Will everyone please give a big welcome to my girlfriend and daughter!!"

The fans went crazy and Darcy clapped along with everyone. I smiled and waved at the people around me who recognized who I was.

I could see Shawn's eyes twinkle from where I was standing. He started strumming his guitar and the next song started to play.

The rest of the concert went by in the blink of an eye. I was enjoying myself so much I didn't realize what time it was. Shawn was about to play his last song of the night, In My Blood.

He suddenly took off his guitar and faced the audience. "Can I do something a little different tonight? We're still gonna play In My Blood, there's just something I want to do first."

Everyone shouted yes and he clapped his hands together, "Good. Now, can I request to have my beautiful girls join me up on stage?"

I stared at him with a shocked expression. Jake made his way over to the section Darcy and I were in. I carried her down the stairs to meet him on the floor as the fans cheered.

He led us around the back and over to stage left. I put Darcy down and we walked hand in hand out onto the bright stage.

Shawn ran over and enveloped us in a big hug. He picked up his daughter and the two of us walked back towards the front of the stage.

"As some of you may know," he grinned, "Lily is a huge Ed Sheeran fan."

The smile I had on my face disappeared and turned to surprise as the red head walked onto the stage with his guitar.

"Oh my god! Hi Ed! Long time no see!" I was trying to contain my excitement.

"Hi Lily! Great to see you again." He hugged me and waved to Darcy.

Shawn addressed the audience, "Give it up for Ed Sheeran!!"

The British man stepped up to the microphone and winked at me, Shawn, and Darcy. He started strumming and I immediately recognized the song, Perfect.

I turned to look at Shawn who was standing to my left and mouthed a 'thank you'. He nodded and kissed my cheek. This was literally the best concert ever. I couldn't believe he would do all this for me.

"Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know. She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I'll share her home."

I heard the fans start to scream. Out of the corner of my eye, I couldn't see Shawn anymore. When I turned around, he was down on his knee, holding Darcy's hands, which were clutching a ring box.

All the breath in my lungs was knocked out of me and I almost collapsed. Tears formed in my eyes and my hands covered my mouth to muffle my crying.

Then Shawn quietly spoke five words. "Lily, will you marry me?"

I couldn't form an audible response. All I could do was nod. His eyes shimmered with tears as he gently took the ring from the box Darcy was holding, and slowly slid it onto my finger.

Shawn stood up and hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around his neck and sunk into his embrace. I felt his face bending down to meet mine, so I met him in the middle for a kiss. His lips were soft and molded to fit mine.

I felt as if sparks continuously flew between our bodies. He felt so safe and secure. We broke away for air and faced the crowd. Cheers and hollers erupted from the sea of twinkling phone lights.

Shawn picked up Darcy again and we stood next to Ed until he finished singing. With a final strum, he ended the song. "May I be the first to offer my congratulations to the happy couple."

We thanked him and he gave us each hugs before he left the stage. Shawn wiped the tears from his eyes.

"From the moment I met Lily, I knew there was something special about her. Just a few years ago, I asked her to come on tour with me, and now I'm asking her to spend the rest of my life with me. This young woman means more to me than she will ever know, and I'm so glad that I'll one day be able to call her Mrs. Mendes."

Watching Shawn talk, the way his eyes lit up and his smile reflect the contents of his heart, made me once again realize how much I was in love with him. If you had told me years ago that I would move to Canada and then become the Shawn Mendes' fiancée, I would have laughed at you.

This Canadian singer had stolen my heart and given me his in return. We have shared so many memories, and I'm so excited to be able to start a new chapter of our lives together with our daughter.
