Chapter 6 - Party Preparations
The rain pelted down against the windows creating little patterns. Our history professor's voice droned on and on. Some of the kids were nodding off and some were whispering amongst themselves.
A note was passed from Faye to me. I opened it and read the contents:
I'm having a party at my house tonight, wanna come? It's gonna be lit! Circle:
Yes or No
I chuckled and boldly circled "Yes". After folding the note back up, I discretely slipped the note back to Faye, who then opened it and quietly clapped her hands together. She glanced over at me and smiled widely. I returned her smile and winked.
I felt my phone vibrate and pulled it out of my hoodie pocket. There was a text from Shawn:
Shawn- Did Faye invite you to the party she's having?
Me- Yeah, you going?
Shawn- Are you?
Me- Haha of course
Shawn- Then I'll be there!
Shawn- Btw, you didn't happen to hear back from your parents about the tour?
Me- Yeah, I'll tell you during lunch
Shawn- Okie
I put my phone back in my pocket and yawned, I hated this class so much. I always did good in school, there just wasn't a lot of interesting classes.
The bell rang just then and saved me from death by boredom. In a flash, everyone had packed up and out the door before the teacher had any idea what was going on.
Shawn caught up with me and Faye as we walked into the large lunch room. There was a mad rush to the tables and we secured a spot by the doors. "Hey Lily, so what did your parents say?"
I glanced over at Faye out of the corner of my eye. She didn't seem to be paying attention.
"Yeah they said yes."
Shawn got really excited, "Yay! That's awesome! Andrew gave it a green light too. This is going to be so much fun!"
"Babe, what are you guys talking about?" Faye looked wonderingly at us.
"Oh uh, Lily is going to give me fashion advice and stuff for my tour."
"Oh, that's cool. Why didn't you ask me?" She raised her eyebrow skeptically.
"Um, well I didn't-"
"I want to be a fashion designer someday." I butted in. But now I was curious, why did he want me to go with him? I mean I know he said that I'd be a great person to have with him, but why me?
"Oh I see." Faye still seemed to be on edge, but she dropped the subject.

Blue romper or yellow dress? Blue romper or yellow dress???
I held both potential outfit options next to me. Luckily it had stopped raining and the sun came out. I took one more look at each of my outfit options and decided on the blue romper.
It was navy and had small pinkish and yellow flowers scattered all over. I had bought it from Forever 21 right before we moved. That's something I really miss. I got almost all my clothes from there.
I slipped on the romper and took a long look in the mirror. Since it was strapless, I either had to go braless or wear a strapless bra. I hated strapless bras with a passion, but I also loved anything without arm holes.
I decided on the cursed strapless bra. There was a lacy lavender one laying on the end of my bed so I picked that one up. It looked and smelled clean so I shook my head and put it on.
Next came makeup. Do I go for natural or glam? It's just a bunch of teenagers doing heaven knows what. So probably more on the natural side. My beauty blender was on my nightstand, so I swiped it up.
"Hi sisters, Lily Ryder here and welcome back to my YouTube channel." James Charles was my all time favorite beauty guru. One of my many dreams was to meet him.
I applied my makeup and finished everything off with a smokey eye. The person staring back at me looked chic yet comfortable.
"Lily can I borrow-" Bailey stopped when she saw me. "Oooooo, you look nice. Where ya goin'?"
"Faye is having a party tonight at her house."
"Ah I see," she looked at me slyly, "Is Shawn going to be there?"
I blushed slightly, turned away from the mirror, and stared at her, "Yes he is. Now mind your own business and scoot."
She giggled as I shooed her out of my room, "Let me know all the juicy deets later sis!"
"Yeah yeah whatever Bay," I rolled my eyes and chuckled at her humor.
Pretty soon it was time to leave for Faye's party. Shawn had texted me earlier saying he'd be more than willing to drive me. Living one block apart really had its advantages!
I heard a car pull up in our driveway. That must be him! There was a knock at the door. "Bye mom, bye dad! See you later!"
"Bye honey, have fun," mom's reply was somewhat drowned out by the sound of out television.
I swung the door open and Shawn stood on the other side smiling, "You ready?"
"Yep!" I grinned back at him and followed behind.
You know that new car smell mixed with a guy's cologne? That was basically Shawn's car. It smelled amazing! I kinda regretted not putting any perfume on.
"Crazy weather we're having right?" I broke the silence as we pulled out of the driveway.
"Yeah totally! I wish the forecast would be more accurate, or the weather would make up its mind on what it wants to be."
"Exactly! It's 2017! You'd think by now the meteorologists would have some way of accurately tracking and predicting the weather!" Shawn started laughing at how passionate I was when speaking about the weather.
"You should be a meteorologist, then maybe finally we'd get some peace. Plus I'd watch you, you're really entertaining." He smiled and patted my shoulder.
"Oh gee thanks, I try," I made an exaggerated motion of flipping my hair over my shoulder.
"But in all seriousness, what do you want to major in when you get in college?"
"Well, since you're the hundredth person to ask me that question in my senior year alone, I'll give you the same response. I have no idea. I can't decide between Photography, Graphic Design, Acting, Music, or Fashion Design."
"Wow, you've got some pretty good options! It sounds like you're going for more of an artsy or Bachelor of Arts direction."
"Yeah, science and math stuff haven't really been something I enjoy. I'm good at it, but it doesn't have that same spark."
"No I totally get it. Being able to create something that's come from your own mind is really fun. That's why I'm a singer."
"You're living your dream and that's amazing."
"Haha thanks hun."
His car pulled onto the street where Faye lived. The curbs were crowded with cars, either parked or dropping off teenagers.
"This party is bigger than I thought." There was a nervous tone in Shawn's voice.
"Same here. You ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine. It's just kind of hard cause I don't know everyone in the school and some of the people I do know used to bully me."
"Oh my god I'm so sorry Shawn."
"It's fine. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?" He laughed off his nerves and shook his head, "Anyway, let's get this party started."
We found a spot to park at the end of the block and walked down the street. Faye's house was about in the middle of the long row of houses.
"Aye Mendes! Glad you could show up! Who's your friend?"
A tall, blonde guy, about Shawn's height sauntered over to us. He shook Shawn's hand and flashed me a million dollar smile. "I'm Theodore, but everyone calls me Teddy."
"Nah we all call him Dora," Shawn laughed.
"Hey hey, I was trying to make a good impression Mendes, now you just screwed it up." He playfully punched him in the arm.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Dora I mean Teddy," I snickered as his face went all red.
"The pleasure is all mine madame," he kissed my hand and bowed deeply.
"If you haven't noticed, I have crazy friends," Shawn put an arm around my shoulder.
"SHAWN YOU'RE FINALLY HERE!!" A loud shrill exclamation came from the doorway. Faye came sprinting across the lawn to where the three of us were standing.
"Hi Faye," he smiled at her.
"Hi babe," she kissed his cheek, "Come on inside everyone, we're about to play truth or dare!"
