I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing. It was a text from Shawn asking if he could come by 10 minutes earlier to say goodbye to Bailey. I responded and rolled out of bed. My clock read 10:24am and our plane was taking off in a few hours.

The minutes ticked by as I tried to wake myself up from the stupor I was in. My sister and I took it pretty hard when our parents' divorce papers were finalized. We still lived with my mom, but they had settled on joint custody since my dad agreed to give her the house.

The warm air filled my lungs and seemed to dry out my insides. Hopefully Portland will be cooler. I had lived my whole life in the heat of California, but as of lately, I'd become accustomed to Canada's winter and Europe's weather.

A knock sounded on my door. "Come in."

My mom entered and sat down on my bed. "Do you have everything packed?"

"Yes, and I promise I'll buy anything I need in case I've forgotten something." I chuckled and joined her.

"If you feel bad at all, please come home. I don't want you to overexert yourself. You're six and a half months pregnant."

"Mom, don't worry. Shawn won't have me doing anything crazy."

"Okay, but just be fully aware, sugarplum."

"I will. But the same goes for you. Be fully aware of Bailey. She's taking this really hard. As much as she puts on a brave face, that's all it is. She's crumbling inside seeing the two people she thought loved each other completely do a 180."

"I promise I'll watch out for her. I joined a dating app and have been talking to this one guy for a few days."

"Mom, it's been two and a half weeks since you and dad signed the papers!"

She smiled and wrapped her arm around my waist. "I know, but the best revenge is showing your father that I don't need him to be happy."

We both started laughing until Bailey came in. The three of us sat chatting about the tour and what they wanted me to tell our friends in Cali. I was looking forward to seeing everyone I knew again, I missed them so much.

The doorbell rang, signaling Shawn's arrival and my departure. "Shawn's here to see you Bailey," I patted her hand.

She ran downstairs to meet him while my mom and I gathered my suitcases and dragged them down. Since there was a lot of riding in the tour bus and I was farther along in my pregnancy, I was bringing a lot more baggage.

Shawn stood there speaking with my little sister when we came around the corner. He smiled at me and continued his conversation. I popped a few Eggo waffles in the toaster and waiting until Shawn had finished his goodbyes.

"I swear on all I hold dear that I will look out for your daughter and granddaughter." Shawn put his hand over his heart.

"I know you will, and I thank you." My mom smiled at him and gave us both hugs. "I'm going to miss you two."

"Bye mom." I hugged her back and turned to Bailey. "You're going to have to hold down the fort while I'm gone, okay?"

"Ma'am yes ma'am!" She saluted and giggled.

I quickly grabbed my waffles out of the toaster and followed Shawn, who was carrying all my luggage, out to the Uber that was waiting for us.

As the car drove out of our driveway, I waved back at my family who stood in the doorway. It was going to be two months until I saw them again. In that moment in time, I had no idea what would be happening while I was gone. If I had known, I might have stayed...

"So excited to get back on the rode!" Shawn hugged me.

"Same same," I agreed.

Some of my happiest moments were spent traveling with the guy I loved. To top it all off, some of my closest friends were coming with us. I was really going to enjoy Teddy's company, and I had already had Brian as a tour mate on part of the previous leg.

"Do you think the crowds will be different?" I asked Shawn.

"Yes and no." He scratched the back of his neck. "I know for a fact that the energy will be the same. But there's always some variance person to person in every location."

The Uber arrived at the airport and I could see about a hundred fans lined up against the wall. Shawn removed our bags from the trunk and put them on those trolley-like bag carriers.

We walked into the airport building arm in arm as fans came charging towards us. They crowded around us and asked for pictures. Shawn agreed and I stood taking pictures for everyone.

Once he had taken as many pictures as he could, we tried to move out of the growing crowd. Some fans parted for us while others shuffled in closer to try to get some last minute pictures.

"Excuse us please, we have to get past security so we don't miss our flight," Shawn explained.

We pushed our way out just as some police officers rushed up to us. "Is everything okay?"

"We're trying to get to our flight, it boards in 45 minutes." He replied.

"Oh, let us help." The turned to the crowd of fans, "Please back up."

Shawn and I made a dash for the line waiting for the metal detectors. We were in and out of there in half an hour and had just enough time to run to the bathroom before our boarding call started.

Since I was so far along, I had to pee every 5 minutes. That was my second least favorite thing about pregnancy, the first being the horrible morning sickness. I was sick for months, and messed up sleeping schedules did not help at all.

The intercom crackled to life. "Ladies and gentlemen, Air Canada is now boarding first class and families with young children."

"That's us!" I looped my arm through Shawn's and we strolled to the front.

People started slowly lining up behind us as we waited for the attendant to scan our tickets. Once he did, we walked down the hallway and into the plane to our seats in the first row.

I shifted in my seat until I found a comfortable position and pulled the window closed. It was an 8 hour flight including the layover we had in Calgary.

One of the flight attendants came by and asked us if we needed anything and we both declined. Pretty soon, we were in the air and on our way to the United States.

Shawn rested his head on my shoulder and napped while I watched Pirates of the Caribbean. I was able to get through the first one and about half way through the second when we landed. I shook Shawn's shoulder and he woke up with a start.

"We're in Calgary hun."

"Hey, that's my line," he chuckled.

We got off the plane and waited in the terminal for an hour for our next flight. The rest of the crew was already at our destination getting the set ready.

I must have dozed off or something because Shawn was gently shaking me awake. I rose from my apparent slumber and walked with him to where the boarding was happening.

We were in the second row this time, right behind a couple who were going home from their honeymoon. Once the plane had taken off, it was my turn to rest my head on Shawn's shoulder and finish the nap I was having earlier.

I woke up a few hours later after by bladder began screaming at me to empty it. I quickly waddled to the bathroom and barely made it in time. I might as well sit here a while since I'll have to go again relatively soon.

After going once more a few minutes later, I walked back to my seat. Shawn kissed my cheek and handed me a bag of Skittles. "Since you missed the food orders I got you this."

"Thanks babe." I grinned and opened my candy.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen for flying Air Canada. We will be arriving in Portland, Oregon in approximately 15 minutes. As we fly by, you can see Mt. Hood approaching. The temperature is 69 degrees and cloudy."

The remainder of the flight went by rather quickly and before I knew it, we had landed at PDX. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and grabbed my duffle bag from the overhead compartment.

Shawn's guitar was waiting for him outside of the plane. After picking it up, we walked out of the terminal to the departures in order to meet Teddy and Brian. A few of the crew members were getting our luggage so we didn't have to worry about that part.

When we came out of the double doors into the upstairs departure area, we made our way to the line of fans that had been formed lead by our friends. Teddy and Brian ran up to us and we all participated in a four-way group hug.

"This tour is going to be epic!" Teddy grinned.
