Chapter 12 - Arrival

I felt someone shaking me awake so I moaned and opened my eyes. Shawn smiled down at me and I smiled back. "Hey Lily, we just landed in London."

"Oh yay!" I shook all the sleepiness off and craned my neck toward the window. It was cloudy today, but super pretty too.

"What do you think?"

"Oh it's... it's wonderful! I can't wait to get off the plane and see the sights!"

"It's almost 2pm, so I should have time to show you around a bit before dinner."

"That would be so cool."

"It's a date then!"

Even though I knew that was just a way of saying 'sounds good', my heart still fluttered.  Was I over him? No. Was I ever going to be over him? Probably not. I guess I was still holding on to that one little thread of hope that one day I'd see the spark in his eye that appeared after we first kissed.

It was all most likely wishful thinking on my part. We made an agreement to never show any feelings if or when we had them. And when we did have them, we would do our best to eliminate them.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for choosing us for your flight to the beautiful islands of the United Kingdom," the flight attendant spoke over the speaker.

"How far is Heathrow Airport from our hotel? And where are we staying?" I asked Shawn as we unbuckled our seatbelts and stepped into the isle to grab our carry-ons.

"If I remember correctly, I believe about an hour? We're staying at the Intercontinental London." He reached up and gave me my small suitcase.

"Ok, sweet."  We walked out of the plane.  There was a chill in the air so I pulled my jacket closer around me.  Luckily when we got inside the airport it was a lot warmer.

Four security guards met us at the gate.  They escorted all of us in the direction of the van that was waiting for us outside.  What was decided was that Shawn would meet a few fans and then head to the car, meanwhile his crew and I would gather all the suitcases and supplies.

Before we had even got sight of the fans, I could hear them on the other side of the wall.  I hoped there weren't too many because I know they all wanted to meet Shawn.  We turned the corner and there were rows and rows of girls and boys all screaming.

Shawn grinned and waved to everyone.  The security guards guided him along the wall of fans and he began greeting them.  All eyes were on him and hardly anyone took notice of the rest of us.

Once I got to the baggage claim, I quickly grabbed all my suitcases off the conveyer belt and began removing Shawn's things as well.  Three young teenage girls approached me nervously.

"Excuse me?"

"Yes, how can I help you?"  I smiled at them and they whispered among themselves.

"Can we get a picture with you?"  The tallest girl asked me.

I was a little surprised, no one had asked me that before.  "Oh, of course!"

They smiled and each took a selfie with me. "Thank you so much!"

"Yeah you're very welcome!  Are you coming to Shawn's show this Friday?"

"Yes we are!  We have meet and greet too so we're super excited!"

"That is so awesome!  Is this your first time meeting him?"

"Yes it is.  What is he like?"

"Well," I thought a moment, "He's the sweetest guy I've ever met.  He is so kind and hilarious too."

"You've probably been asked this a lot, but are you and Shawn dating, or just really good friends?"

"Oh we're just really good friends."  I quickly replied and chuckled.  "What are your names and how old are you?"

"I'm Teresa and I'm 15."  The tallest girl answered.

"My name is Hannah and I am 13."  A shorter girl replied.

"And I'm Hannah's fraternal twin, Josie," she smiled.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you three.  I'm Lily, as you probably already know."

"Could I ask you a favor?"  Josie asked me.

"Of course!"

"Would you mind giving this to Shawn?"  She handed me a green and blue friendship bracelet.

"This is beautiful, I would love to!"

"Oh thank you so much Lily!"

"You are welcome Josie.  Oh!  What are all your twitters?  I'll follow you girls."

They gave it to me and I followed them right away.  I would have loved to stay and chat a little while longer, but I needed to get all my and Shawn's things to the van.  I said goodbye to Teresa, Hannah, and Josie and we parted ways for the next few days.

Shawn met us in the van and we drove to our hotel.  "Dude your fans are the absolute best." I grinned and sighed happily.

"I wholeheartedly agree with you."  He nodded and smiled back.

"Oh, this is for you.  It's from a thirteen year old girl named Josie who's coming to your O2 show."  I handed him the bracelet she made.

"This is so cool!  Is she coming to the meet and greet by any chance?"

"Yeah she is."

"Sweet, I'll make sure to wear it on that day!"

The car ride to the hotel was full of planning the next few days.  Shawn's first show was four days from now. The most intensive thing was getting the set up and the sound and lights in order.

My job was pretty easy, I just picked out clothes and guitar straps for Shawn that looked nice and wouldn't clash with the rest of the set.  Being a fan myself definitely helped in choosing things that were eye catching to the audience and photographers.

Plus it was fun knowing Shawn was required to take fashion orders from me. Not that I would make him wear anything weird, I just liked to keep reminding him of all the clothing options that were less flattering than he'd like to wear.

When we arrived at the Intercontinental, it was almost 4pm. We had to unload everything in the parking garage so we didn't draw the attention of the paparazzi. Shawn was the last person out of the car and he picked up two of his guitar cases and his backpack.

We snuck inside and waited while one of the crew checked us all in to our six rooms. We were on the top floor, which was a long, multiple trip elevator ride up. Once all of us were at the top, we designated who slept with who and in what room.

I ended up being in a room with Shawn, Mike, and Vivian, the production assistant. Vivian and I had become friends right away when we met last week. She was quite a few years older than me, but she felt like a sister. Not that anyone could ever replace Bailey.

It felt nice to throw down all my stuff and collapse on the bed. I was exhausted yet so exuberant at the same time. "You about ready to go exploring?" Shawn asked me.

"Yeah I am!"

"Cool, let me just change my shirt and I'll be all set."

A few minutes later, we were running down the stairs breathless and laughing. Look out London, two crazy Canadians are coming for you!
