18. Mini Me

After their morning jog, Jungkook took Seol clothes shopping like he had promised. They picked out some clothes that he could change into to add some variety to his wardrobe. Jungkook also bought duffel bags to carry it all in. He hefted one over his shoulder while Seol did the same with the other. Before leaving the store completely, Jungkook made sure that Seol was completely covered up with a bucket hat, sunglasses and a mask so he wouldn't get caught by the other members.

"I hope you won't be too uncomfortable wearing all this," said Jungkook as they walked with the duffel bags towards the building where practice was about to be held.

"I'll be fine," said Seol. "If anything, it makes me feel like I'm someone special."

'Well you are,' thought Jungkook as he looked over at Seol.

They soon entered the building and walked down the hall to the practice room. Everyone else was already there, and all of their heads turned to look at the door as the two of them entered. Seol took a seat near the far wall after putting his duffel bag down; Jungkook putting his duffel down right beside Seol's.

"Who's he?" asked Hobi.

"Don't mind him," said Jungkook. "Let's just get practicing, yeah?"

Hobi looked at Seol for a moment longer before nodding his head. Namjoon waited for them to all get in formation before letting the music start. This kind of thing continued for the next hour or so. Jungkook tried to follow the moves that were laid out for them to practice, but he could tell that the others were distracted by Seol. The ones that were the most distracted were Taehyung and Jimin who took turns turning to look at Seol sitting cross-legged near the back wall. Namjoon chose to ignore the distracted members until Taehyung ended up stumbling into Jimin, causing the two of them to fall like a pair of dominos onto the practice floor with a loud squeak.

"Now I have floor burn to add to my butt bruises," complained Taehyung as he moved to lay on his back, holding his right arm with his left hand.

"Well it's not my fault that you chose not to pay attention!" Jimin argued.

"You were gawking just as much as me!" Taehyung shot back.

Jungkook moved away from the two of them. He grabbed a water bottle out of an ice chest for him and for Seol, placing one down beside Seol's knee before uncapping his own to take a drink. Once he had a swallow, Jungkook brought the bottle away from his lips before focusing on Seol again.

'Are you okay?' he mouthed so that the others didn't catch on or see.

Seol just nodded his head as Jungkook nodded his in return, recapping the water bottle and putting it down near Seol.

"Jungkook, just tell us who the new kid that came in with you is," begged Jimin as he moved to get up from the ground, trying to help Taehyung up.

"He's someone that is supposed to shadow me," said Jungkook, "Isn't that enough to satisfy your curious mind?"

"But what's his name?"

"Seol," said Seol suddenly from where he sat. He soon half shrunk against the back wall after realizing that he more than likely should have chosen some sort of fake name.

"Seol?" said Jin as he went to grab up his on water bottle nearby. "Isn't that what you once wanted to name your child, Jungkook?"

"Um...well...maybe?"

"Maybe?" Jin asked with an arched brow before sipping some water.

Jin didn't seem to be buying it, but didn't say anything more as he watched the stranger keep his head turned away from everyone. Recapping his bottle, he put it down before moving to go back to practicing.

When practice started up again, Seol stayed where he was and watched them all go about the routine. He was happy that his flub up seemed to be passing undetected for now. Seol happily watched as they all moved in sync with one another like a well oiled machine. During the next half hour of practice, there would be the odd playful comment exchanged between them or the small bursts of laughter that lit up the room like pieces of sunshine. Though Seol didn't necessarily come to practices in the future with his father, he was used to all of them being around each other like a big happy family. The more that Seol started to follow his parents about in their lives, he found himself feeling more at home.

"If he's a trainee meant to shadow you Jungkook, how about he tries?" piped up Jimin as they all took a pause as the music was reset.

Seol felt panic blossom inside him when he heard that. Seol had practiced choreography before because he had wanted to follow in his father's footsteps for a while, but had stopped when the divorce started. He had felt that his father wanted nothing to do with him because he was a failure, so he stopped having aspirations towards being an idol like his father. The panic Seol was also currently feeling stemmed from being put on the spot. Seol didn't like anything that occurred last minute. He needed time to process it. Seol didn't realize that - at Jimin's comment - he had turned his head down towards the ground. He only realized it when Jungkook crouched in front of him, placing a hand on his knee.

"Come try," he said softly. "I bet you've got what it takes."

Seol lifted his head to look at his father, seeing a small smile spread across his face. Seol nodded his head, standing up and onto his feet. Jungkook moved to hold one of Seol's hands firmly in his, not caring what the other boys thought of it as he led Seol back towards the mirrors.

"We'll just have Jungkook and Seol go," said Namjoon. "Seol, you'll copy Jungkook's moves for this song."

Seol nodded his head as he stood beside his father. The rest of the boys took up a seat along the wall so they could be out of the way.

"Why don't you take the getup off?" asked Taehyung as he sat down between Jimin and Jin. "It'll just get in the way and make you hot."

"It's fine," said Seol. "I like keeping myself hidden."

"Oh...is that gonna be your gimmick? You're a mystery man?" asked Taehyung. "That's an interesting one..."

"Stop poking at him," said Jungkook as he turned to look at Taehyung.

"Enough everyone," said Namjoon, trying to reign all their attention back in. "Let's have you two take it from the top."

Seol clenched and unclenched his fists at his side. Jungkook cast his eyes sideways, reaching out a hand to grip Seol's arm.

'It'll be okay,' mouthed Jungkook before he dropped his hand back down.

Seol nodded his head, smiling behind the mask as the music started back up. He was thankful the song they had been practicing for the last while was a song that he had watched over and over again with his mom as a child since it was one of her favorite songs. Seol mimicked Jungkook's parts as "Fake Love" played throughout the practice room. He found himself having to keep alternating though between keeping the bucket hat on his head and keeping the sunglasses on his face as both kept threatening to fall off and onto the floor.

"He's like a mini you, Jungkook," remarked Jimin when they finished.

"He's amazing," agreed Taehyung. "I see why they want him to shadow someone. He might be ready to debut sooner rather than later."

Seol felt his chest heaving up and down as he looked over at his uncles. Beads of sweat rolled down Seol's face, but he couldn't wipe the grin off his face that was hidden behind the mask. They approved of what he had just done. Seol wanted nothing more than to shed his disguise to take a breather after that. Jungkook - who still stood beside him - could clearly tell.

"Come with me, Seol," said Jungkook. "I'll show you the way to the bathroom."

Seol nodded, following after Jungkook as he slipped out of the practice room and down the hall. It only took a minute for them to enter the bathroom at the end of the hall. When they first entered the bathroom, Jungkook checked to make sure it was empty before turning to look at Seol.

"It's clear. You're good."

Seol nodded as he took the hat and sunglasses off. He put them by the sink as he turned it on, yanking the mask below his chin before throwing cold water onto his face. Jungkook smiled softly as he stood beside Seol. Jungkook eventually reached out a hand to put it gently on Seol's back.

"You did amazing. You picked that up so fast."

"Well, I watched it a lot with mom," admitted Seol. "It is one of her favorite songs. I wanted to be like you when I grew up, so I focused in on your parts the most when I'd watch them with her."

"I'm flattered," said Jungkook as he felt his cheeks turn red.

Seol chuckled; water from the sink dripping off his face as he turned to look at Jungkook.

"I thought for sure I was going to get caught just now though. I kept having to battle between keeping the hat on my head and the sunglasses on my face during the dance."

"You did well," said Jungkook. "I don't think anyone caught on. Please don't worry so much. It's not healthy for you."

"I just don't want to give you any reason to find me a burden like you eventually do in the future," said Seol before he realized what he said, quickly turning aside.

Jungkook hated hearing those words, but before he could say anything to counter it the both of them turned towards the bathroom door as it opened. Jin soon stood in the bathroom, leaning up against the door to the outside to keep it shut behind him as he looked from Jungkook to the younger man that resembled him so closely.

"What's going on?" asked Jin as he crossed his arms. "Someone better start talking."
