Chapter 4
Taehyung had been glowing this past few days. Mrs Gong noticed that his eyes sparkled with happiness. He was more energetic than before. Ever since his parents' last argument that threw him in a slump, Mrs Gong didn't think she was ever going to see the shine in his eyes again but they were back and those eyes shone brighter than ever.
Even when his father spoke in his usual dull tone.
"Taehyung make sure you get your grades up. Do not do anything to tarnish the image of this family"
Taehyung had replied in an uncharacteristically vibrant voice. "Don't worry. I have it all under control" He had said.
His father was quite surprised with his tone. For as long as he could remember, Taehyung had never spoken to him normally. He always sounded rude, distant and cold.
Mr Kim cleared his throat a bit nervously.
"Mmh... that's fine. You may go now!" He said and returned to his phone but one eye was watching his son's bouncy steps as he left the house.
His wife passed by, her nose in the air.
"Yeobo, do you know why your son is so excited?"
But the woman didn't reply. She was ignoring him just as she had been this past week since their last argument. He berated himself for being the first one to speak to her when he had sworn not to do it.
He cursed under his breath and went back to focusing on his phone. Mrs Kim stood there looking at him for a minute. Without a word, she walked off.

"I'm glad to see you this happy" Mrs Gong said to Taehyung as he was about to enter his car.
"Really? I look happy?"
"Yes Tae! You're glowing!"
Taehyung's eyes shifted. She could tell he was thinking about something. He finally shook his head.
"I think you're right. I am happy"
He gave a smile before entering into his car and driving away. When he arrived at school, he headed straight to the class. As soon as he entered, his eyes met his. The other blushed and lowered his face. Taehyung chuckled to himself.
"Mr Kim, do you realise you're already late for the lecture? Why are you just standing there?"
Taehyung bowed his head. "Sorry maam"
He said and went to his seat which was behind Jimin. He watched the other, enjoying the sight of his beautiful black hair and fair skin from behind. Class ended and he watched Jimin gather up his things and head straight to the library. He wanted to play a prank on him so he waited for him at the corridor close to the library. As soon as Jimin appeared, he poked him in the stomach. Jimin nearly screamed but managed to hold himself back.
"What on Earth are you doing?"
"Pranking you!"
Jimin rolled his eyes. "I thought that we agreed not to be seen together in public"
He cautiously looked around. "There are many of your fangirls who hate seeing us together. They don't believe we're just friends which we really are"
Then he placed a hand on his hair wearing a pale face. "I don't want my hair to be dragged because of you"
Taehyung laughed. "Don't be ridiculous. None of that is going to happen"
He looked at Jimin. He really did look worried. His eyes cautiously roaming around them. Taehyung couldn't help but chuckle.
"Let's go!"
He said. Their usual meeting point of study was at the rooftop. As soon as they settled down, Jimin brought out his books and began to tutor Taehyung. The first half, Taehyung was attentive but then the remaining half consisted of him staring at Jimin without shifting his gaze. Jimin tried to ignore his intense gaze but it didn't help.
"What? Stop looking at my face and concentrate"
"Aren't you hungry?"
Jimin's stomach was silently growling but he refused to show it. Instead he raised his head high feigning disinterest.
"No! I think I'm fine" He said but a loud growling sound escaped from the depths of his stomach. Taehyung started to snicker. Jimin smiled nervously.
"I didn't eat breakfast!"
"You book worm! You study so much, I'm sure you hardly have time to eat"
"Come. It's my treat"
Without waiting for Jimin's reply, he pulled him by the hand, packed his books into his bag and dragged him all the way to the cafeteria.
As soon as they settled down, they made their order and when the food got to their table, Jimin gobbled it all down. The corner of Taehyung's mouth curved into a smile as he watched the latter devour his meal without stopping.
"Relax Jimin..."
Jimin smiled. "Sorry. I didn't realise I was this hungry"
"You look so thin. You have to take care of yourself okay?" Taehyung whispered. Jimin looked into his eyes. They seemed genuinely worried. Those eyes held so much emotion, he was afraid he would sink in them so he shook his head scolding himself internally.
"I think I'm done now" He finally said.
"We have to return to studying. Exam is just around the corner. We can't afford to idle away our time"
Taehyung rolled his eyes. "You're so serious!" He said but he later agreed to what Jimin wanted. They returned to the rooftop to continue their studying. This time, Jimin didn't permit Taehyung's staring. He would tap his arm or pinch him if he caught him gazing away. As a result, Taehyung focused a bit more but those weren't entirely helpful because sometimes, Taehyung would still act playful. He would suddenly lay his head on Jimin's lap claiming to have a headache. He just wanted to have any reason at all to touch him or create any sort of skin contact.
Jimin learned to accept it. It wasn't that bad though. He sort of liked Taehyung's clingy side. Besides, it wasn't going to last long. After their exams, everything would be over and he would be able to draw as much distance between them both as he possibly could.
Exams finally came knocking. To Taehyung, it was time to put everything he had learned to good use. For Jimin, it was a breath of fresh air. No longer would he have to be tied to Taehyung. He would safely avoid him from that moment on and he did just that.
After the exams, Jimin was no where to be seen. He had completely vanished much to Taehyung's dismay. The entire school had gone on a break so Jimin had ample time to himself working at Yoongi's restaurant.
Yoongi was their grumpy neighbor who owned a small restaurant in their neighborhood. He didn't talk much, was a bit anti social but Jimin knew he had a good heart. Recently, Jimin's mom hadn't been feeling well so Yoongi had volunteered to look after their bakery while she recuperates. When his mom got a bit better, she could handle her business herself without any assistance.
One thing Jimin liked most about Yoongi was his ability to read people. He could simply tell a person's countenance just by looking at them and on this particular day, he read Jimin perfectly.
Jimin was helping out in his restaurant since many of his staff had left for the holidays. Yoongi noticed that he kept sighing to himself and looking out the window. It was midday when he finally decided to confront him concerning his dreary mood.
"Jimin, what's eating you up?"
"What?" Jimin asked with a confused expression.
"You've been acting strange. Are you missing someone by any chance?"
Jimin grew quiet. The other man laughed. "I can see that you are..."
Jimin took a deep breath. He was burdened by burning questions he needed answers to. He looked at Yoongi before he asked his question.
"Yoongi hyung. I want to ask you something"
"Go ahead!"
"Now let's say there's this guy who always follows you around. You don't like him because he seems to be bad for you. He's the kind of guy your parents warned you about"
Yoongi grinned. "I'm actually quite drawn to those sort of people. Being with them is more exciting"
"Hyung!"
Yoongi smiled apologetically. "Sorry. Carry on"
Jimin took a deep breath before he continued.
"But the problem is you can't stop thinking about him. What can you do to stop yourself from falling for him?"
Yoongi shook his head. "Then stay away. It's a dangerous attraction and it will do you no good"
"I'm naturally attracted to the bad boy type of guys but that never brought me any good. Only pain and heart ache"
He looked sad as he breathed deeply. "I know that for a fact. Trust me"
"So please be careful Jimin!"
Jimin was shocked. "I didn't say it was me!"
Yoongi smiled. "But it was you!"
Jimin blushed out of embarrassment.
"Just be careful!" Yoongi continued. "Those kind of guys can't be trusted. They lead you on and when they feel you're no longer useful, throw you away like a used rag"
It sounded as if he was talking about himself rather than giving Jimin advise.
The restaurant closed a bit more earlier than normal due to the holidays. There wasn't much customers so Jimin decided to head home but as he neared his house, he was in for a rude shock because right in front of his door stood Kim Taehyung, his hands crossed underneath his chest. As soon as he saw him, he smiled and waved a bit timidly.
"You're home. I was waiting for you" He said.
To be continued...
